Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), a typical layered material, has important applications in various fields, such as optoelectronics, catalysis, electronic devices, sensors, and supercapacitors. Extensive research has been carried out on few-layered MoS2 in the field of electrochemistry due to its large specific surface area, abundant active sites and short electron transport path. However, the preparation of few-layered MoS2 is a significant challenge. This work presents a simple one-pot hydrothermal method for synthesizing few-layered MoS2. Furthermore, it investigates the exfoliation effect of different amounts of sodium borohydride (NaBH4) as a stripping agent on the layer number of MoS2. Na+ ions, as alkali metal ions, can intercalate between layers to achieve the purpose of exfoliating MoS2. Additionally, NaBH4 exhibits reducibility, which can effectively promote the formation of the metallic phase of MoS2. Few-layered MoS2, as an electrode for supercapacitor, possesses a wide potential window of 0.9 V, and a high specific capacitance of 150 F g−1 at 1 A g−1. Ionic electroactive polymer (iEAP) actuators are recognized as exceptional candidates for artificial muscle development, with significant potential applications in bionic robotics, space exploration, and biomedical fields. Here, we developed a new iEAP actuator utilizing high-purity single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs)-reinforced poly(3, 4-ethylenedioxythiophene)/poly(4-styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT: PSS, PP) hybrid electrodes and a Nafion/EMIBF4 ion-exchange membrane via a straightforward and efficient spray printing technique. The SWCNT/PP actuator exhibits significantly enhanced electric conductivity (262.9 S/cm) and specific capacitance (22.5 mF/cm2), benefitting from the synergistic effect between SWCNTs and PP. These improvements far surpass those observed in activated carbon aerogel bucky-gel-electrode-based actuators. Furthermore, we evaluated the electroactive behaviors of the SWCNT/PP actuator under alternating square-wave voltages (1–3 V) and frequencies (0.01–100 Hz). The results reveal a substantial bending displacement of 6.44 mm and a high bending strain of 0.61% (at 3 V, 0.1 Hz), along with a long operating stability of up to 10,000 cycles (at 2 V, 1 Hz). This study introduces a straightforward and efficient spray printing technique for the successful preparation of iEAP actuators with superior electrochemical and electromechanical properties as intended, which hold promise as artificial muscles in the field of bionic robotics. Ti3C2Tx MXene, as a common two-dimensional material, has a wide range of applications in electrochemical energy storage. However, the surface forces of few-layer or monolayer Ti3C2Tx MXene lead to easy agglomeration, which hinders the demonstration of its performance due to the characteristics of layered materials. Herein, we report a facile method for preparing monolayer Ti3C2Tx MXene on nickel foam to achieve a self-supporting structure for supercapacitor electrodes under high electrostatic fields. Moreover, the specific capacitance varies with the deposition of different-concentration monolayer Ti3C2Tx MXene on nickel foam. As a result, Ti3C2Tx/NF has a high specific capacitance of 319 mF cm−2 at 2 mA cm−2 and an excellent long-term cycling stability of 94.4% after 7000 cycles. It was observed that the areal specific capacitance increases, whereas the mass specific capacitance decreases with the increasing loading mass. Attributable to the effect of the high electrostatic field, the self-supporting structure of the Ti3C2Tx/NF becomes denser as the concentration of the monolayer Ti3C2Tx MXene ink increases, ultimately affecting its electrochemical performance. This work provides a simple way to overcome the agglomeration problem of few-layer or monolayer MXene, then form a self-supporting electrode exhibiting excellent electrochemical performance. Strain-hardening cementitious composite (SHCC) has the obvious advantages of excellent material properties such as its high tensile and compressive strengths, high tensile strain capacity, and excellent durability against multi-cracking performance with very fine crack widths. In particular, the multi-cracking performance of SHCC during structural utilization is obviously reduced compared to that of SHCC in uniaxial tension tests using dumbbell-shaped specimens of small size. The corresponding tensile strain capacity of SHCC during structural utilization is, thus, significantly decreased compared to that of SHCC in uniaxial tension tests. However, the reduction in the ductility of SHCC during structural utilization has not been sufficiently understood, and further study is required. This paper presents an experimental investigation into the ductility variation of flexural-failed and shear-failed SHCC members as well as the ductility improvement of SHCC members with steel reinforcement compared with that of SHCC in uniaxial tension tests using small-sized specimens. This study focuses on not only the decrease in the crack elongation performance of the SHCC material during structural utilization but also the increase in the crack elongation performance of SHCC members with steel reinforcement. The results demonstrate that the crack elongation performance of flexural-failed and shear-failed SHCC members is significantly reduced compared to that of SHCC in the uniaxial tension tests. Moreover, it was confirmed that steel reinforcement can effectively improve the SHCC member, increasing the strain-hardening capacity and multi-cracking performance. The load-carrying capacity of the flexural-failed SHCC member with steel reinforcement seemed to increase linearly with an increase in the reinforcement ratio, accompanied by an increase in the distribution of multiple fine cracks in the flexural-failed SHCC member with steel reinforcement. The application of non-excavation construction technology, such as the pipe jacking method, has obvious advantages in building urban underground space engineering projects, which can effectively reduce the occupation of ground surfaces and the migration of obstacles above or below the ground. However, pipe jacking machines with a rectangular cross-section can easily encounter great difficulty due to the significantly increased jacking resistance while it is jacked in hard rock strata, which are often influenced by large blind spots on the working face of pipe jacking machines with a rectangular cross-section. The aforementioned blind spots belong to areas that cannot be cut by the cutter heads due to the circular cutterhead and rectangular outer frame of pipe jacking machines with a rectangular cross-section. Therefore, the effective pretreatment of the aforementioned blind spots should be implemented prior to operating pipe jacking machines with a rectangular cross-section in hard rock strata. This paper presents a case study of employing horizontal-directional drilling as a multi-pilot heading pretreatment for breaking large blind spots on the working face of pipe jacking machines with a rectangular cross-section, which was implemented prior to operating a pipe jacking machine with a rectangular cross-section in shallow buried rock strata. In particular, this multi-pilot heading pretreatment is expected to be used to safely construct a rectangular comprehensive pipe gallery using pipe jacking machines with a rectangular cross-section in shallow buried rock strata and when passing underneath existing light rail lines, which can effectively save the precious land resources required for sustainable development. The study was implemented by employing a numerical simulation, focusing on the safety of the adjacent existing light rail line and the stability of the surrounding rocks, which are influenced by the variation in the distribution positions and sizes of the drilling holes used when implementing the horizontal-directional drilling. The results demonstrate that the horizontal-directional drilling applied for the multi-pilot heading pretreatment could effectively break the blind spots on the working face of the pipe jacking machine with a rectangular cross-section, in which the safety of the adjacent existing infrastructure was significantly influenced by the distribution positions and sizes of the drilling holes used when implementing the horizontal-directional drilling. This study can provide a reference for carrying out pipe jacking construction using pipe jacking machines with a rectangular cross-section, in which horizontal-directional drilling is employed as the multi-pilot heading pretreatment for breaking the large blind spots on the working face. Moreover, the distribution positions and sizes of the drilling holes used when implementing the horizontal-directional drilling could be appropriately optimized by utilizing the method of numerical analysis. Meanwhile, the study is also expected to eliminate the hazards of safely running the aforementioned adjacent existing light rail line during implementing the multi-pilot heading pretreatment of horizontal-directional drilling. Single-layer tunnel lining using shotcrete has the significant advantages of reducing the tunnel excavation volume and saving construction materials, which has been gradually applied in tunnel construction. The high-performance concretes are generally adopted in single-layer tunnel lining for enhancing the bearing capacity of the tunnel lining, whereas the single-layer tunnel lining may still induce damages due to the adverse conditions such as shallow buried depth of the tunnel, and further study related to its application condition is thus required. This paper presents a study of the single-layer tunnel lining with shotcrete employed for supporting the large-span tunnel, in which the reinforcement ribs are also adopted in the single-layer lining for improving the lining stiffness and strength. The study is implemented using numerical simulation, focusing on the safety and performance variation of the single-layer tunnel lining influenced from the varied lining thicknesses and shallow buried depths of the tunnel. The results shows that the single-layer tunnel lining has the obvious advantage of toughness in significantly absorbing large deformation of surrounding rocks and improving the ability to resist lining cracking. The results also demonstrate that the single-layer tunnel lining with shotcrete and reinforcement ribs can safely support the large-span tunnel, in which the stability and safety of the large-span tunnel are confirmed from both the tunnel deformation and lining stresses. Moreover, the factors related to both the lining thickness and shallow buried depth of the tunnel have great influence on the single-layer tunnel lining with shotcrete and reinforcement ribs, in which the insufficient lining thickness and excessive shallow buried depth of the tunnel can induce the damages of the single-layer tunnel lining due to shotcrete stresses exceeding its strength. The pipe jacking method is gradually attracting increasing levels of attention and is becoming an important method for constructing underground engineering. However, jacking large-size concrete pipes in urban core areas subjected to complicated geological conditions is still a big problem preventing the employment of the pipe jacking method, and further studies related to pipe jacking are required. This paper presents a case study on the construction of three parallel large-size reinforced concrete circular pipes in the upper-soft and lower-hard composite formations, in which the construction work was implemented using the slurry balance pipe jacking method with the sequence of jacking the 1# and 3# pipes prior to the 2# pipe being implemented in field construction. This case study was implemented by employing numerical simulations with the aforementioned pipe jacking sequence, which focused on the stress and deformation variations of the reinforced concrete circular pipes, as well as the vertical settlement of the ground surface during the jacking processes, and considering the influences from the excavation pressure and grouting pressure of the drag-reducing thixotropic slurry. The simulation results revealed that a higher excavation pressure from the pipe jacking machine can easily induce an excessive pushing and squeezing effect of the excavated soil with the uplift phenomenon, while the increasing grouting pressure can be used to reduce the overall vertical settlement of the ground surface, whereas an excessive grouting pressure may have no effectiveness on protecting the reinforced concrete circular pipes. Strain-hardening cementitious composites (SHCC) are an attractive construction material with obvious advantages of large strain capacity and high strength, as well as excellent workability and easy processing using conventional equipment. Moreover, SHCC can be designed with varied mix proportions in order to satisfy various requirements and expectations to overcome the shortages of existing construction materials. However, the behavior of SHCC in the structural application is varied from that of SHCC material, which is reviewed and presented in this paper, focusing on the flexural and shear behavior of the SHCC member and the SHCC layer used for strengthening reinforced concrete (RC). The reviewed results demonstrate that both the zero-span tensile behavior of the stress concentration and the uniaxial tensile behavior of the bending effect can influence the crack propagation patterns of multiple fine cracks in the SHCC strengthening layer, in which the crack distribution within the SHCC layer is limited near the existing crack in the RC substrate member in the zero-span tensile behavior. Moreover, the crack propagation patterns of the SHCC strengthening layer are changed with varied layer thicknesses, and the SHCC strengthening layer, even with a small thickness, can significantly increase the shear load carrying capacity of the shear strengthened RC member. The excavation of a deep foundation pit adjacent to an existing tunnel may lead to the large deformation and induce damages in the tunnel structure. However, the influence on existing tunnel structure from nearby excavations has not been understood clearly, since it is affected by complex influencing factors of not only the geological and topographical conditions but also the construction method and positional relationship of the adjacent structures. This paper presents a numerical investigation into an existing underground rail transit line during the excavation of an adjacent deep foundation pit, in which the behavior of the existing tunnel structure from excavating the aforementioned foundation pit is clarified, and the effectiveness of the adopted three-dimensional model is confirmed by comparison between the numerically calculated and field-measured ground settlement of the monitoring point. The results demonstrate that the deformation of the existing tunnel structure is mostly induced by the excavation of the deep foundation pit. The development of low-cost electrode materials with enhanced activity and favorable durability for hydrogen evolution reactions (HERs) is a great challenge. MoS2 is an effective electrocatalyst with a unique layered structure. In addition, aluminosilica shells can not only provide more hydroxyl groups but also improve the durability of the catalyst as a protective shell. Herein, we have designed a hard-template route to synthesize porous yolk–shell MoS2@void@Aluminosilica microspheres in a NaAlO2 solution. The alkaline solution can directly etch silica (SiO2) hard templates on the surface of MoS2 microspheres and form a porous aluminosilica outer shell. The electrocatalytic results confirm that the MoS2@void@Aluminosilica microspheres exhibit higher electrocatalytic activity for HERs with lower overpotential (104 mV at the current density of −10 mA cm−2) and greater stability than MoS2 microspheres. The superior electrocatalytic activity of MoS2@void@Aluminosilica microspheres is attributed to the unique structure of the yolk@void@shell geometric construction, the protection of the aluminosilica shell, and the greater number of active sites offered by their nanosheet subunits. Grouting materials require not only high ultra-early-stage strength of the stone body, but also proper working performances, such as high fluidity and fast setting time, as well as good stability. Compared with the traditional pure cement grout, geopolymer grouting material has the advantages of fast setting time, high fluidity, good slurry stability, and high early strength of the slurry stone body, which is beneficial to reuse solid waste resources and can be applied to the conditions of rapid construction or repair work to a certain extent. This paper presents an experimental investigation into the performance variation of geopolymer grouting material with varied mass fractions of raw materials, and the grouting performance of geopolymer material with optimal mix proportion is also presented. The study is implemented by employing the designed experimental schemes, focused on fluidity and setting times, as well as ultra-early-stage (4 h, 8 h, 12 h, 16 h, 20 h, and 24 h) mechanical strength. The experimental result demonstrates that both ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) content and the mass ratio of activator solution to solid have influence on the working performance of geopolymers, and both GGBS content and activator concentration have influence on the mechanical strength of geopolymers. Furthermore, the variance analysis demonstrates that the fluidity of geopolymer material is dominantly affected by the mass ratio of activator solution to solid, the setting time of geopolymer material is mainly influenced by GGBS content, and the mechanical strength of geopolymer material is mainly affected by activator concentration. Moreover, the recommended mix proportion of geopolymer grouting material is proposed in this study, in which the replacement rate of GGBS is 45%; the modulus and concentration of modified sodium silicate activator are 1.5 and 75%, respectively; and the mass ratio of activator solution to solid is 1.5. In the recommended mix proportion, the geopolymer material has excellent comprehensive performance to implement grouting operation, in which the compressive and tensile strengths of the stone body reach 12.2 MPa and 0.8 MPa in 4 h, and reach 21.2 MPa and 2.1 MPa in 24 h. The fluidity is 223 mm, the initial setting and final setting times are 50 min and 57 min, the slurry stability of geopolymer material is good without liquid precipitation, in which the setting time is far less than 2 h. This work provides the experimental foundations for investigating the performance of geopolymer grouting material, which is also expected to provide reference for the further application and promotion of geopolymer materials used for grouting operations in rapid construction or repair work. Cataluminescence-based sensors do not require external light sources and complex circuitry, which enables them to avoid light scattering with high sensitivity, selectivity, and widely linear range. In this study, a wireless sensor system based on hierarchical CuO microspheres assembled from nano-sheets was constructed for Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) online detection. Through sensor characteristics and data process analysis, the results showed that the luminous sensor system has good luminous characteristics, including the intensity of visible light, high signal/noise (S/N) values, and very short response and recovery times. Different VOC concentration values can be detected on multiple wavelength channels and different Cataluminescence signal spectra separations can process multiple sets of Cataluminescence data combinations concurrently. To investigate the deformation and damping characteristics of cement treated and expanded polystyrene (EPS) beads mixed lightweight soils, this study conducted a series of triaxial shear tests cyclic loading for different confining pressures, cement contents, and soil categories. Through repeated loading and unloading cycles, axial accumulative strain, resilient modulus, and damping ratio versus axial total strain were analyzed and the mechanical behavior was revealed and interpreted. Results show that the resilient modulus increases with increasing confining pressure and cement content. A decreasing power function can be used to fit the relationship between the resilient modulus and the axial total strain. Although sandy lightweight specimens usually own higher resilient modulus than silty clay lightweight specimens do, the opposite was also found when the axial total strain is larger than 8% with 50 kPa confining pressure and 14% cement content. For damping ratio the EPS beads mixed lightweight soil yields a weak growth trend with increasing axial total strain and a small reduction with higher confining pressure and cement content. For more cementations, the damping ratio of the sandy lightweight soil is always smaller than the silty clay lightweight soil. With the aim of profitable conversion of carbon dioxide (CO2) in an efficient, economical, and sustainable manner, we developed a CuBr/ionic liquid (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate) catalytic system that could efficiently catalyze the three-component reactions of propargylic alcohols, 2-aminoethanols, and CO2 to produce 2-oxazolidinones and α-hydroxy ketones. Remarkably, this catalytic system employed lower metal loading (0.0125–0.5 mol%) but exhibited the highest turnover number (2960) ever reported, demonstrating its excellent activity and sustainability. Polar coding and sparse code multiple access (SCMA) are key technologies for 5G mobile communication, the joint design of them has a great significance to improve the overall performance of the transmitter-receiver symmetric wireless communication system. In this paper, we firstly propose a pruning iterative joint detection and decoding algorithm (PI-JDD) based on the confidence stability of resource nodes. Branches to be updated are dynamically pruned to avoid redundant iterative, which is able to reduce 24~50% complexity while achieving the approximate error performance of traditional serial joint iterative detection and decoding algorithm S-JIDD. Then, to further reduce the bit error rate (BER) of the receiver, a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) termination mechanism is added at the end of each joint iteration to avoid the convergence error caused by decoding deviation. Simulation results show that the addition of an early stopping criterion can achieve a remarkable performance gain compared with the S-JIDD algorithm. This paper investigates the energy-efficient communications and user capacity in the cognitive multiple input multiple output (MIMO) symmetric system of underlay mode. The advantage of the improved energy efficiency provided by the orthogonal slot allocation for time division multiple access (TDMA) has a side effect of restricting the number of users accessing the system. To tackle the above problem, this paper proposes a nonorthogonal time resource allocation method with sparse code multiple access (SCMA), which allows one to convert the orthogonal slot units of TDMA into non-orthogonal shared slot units for multiple secondary users (SUs). The method of adding virtual users is adopted, wherein each SU is treated as multiple SUs who occupy a shared unit, to facilitate the packet access. Finally, the greedy algorithm is applied to optimize the time slot allocation of unoccupied shared slot units. The simulation results show that SCMA-based nonorthogonal slot allocation can reduce not only the energy consumption by nearly 40%, but also the average power interference from SUs to primary users by nearly 2 dB if their number is relatively high.
