The article reconstructs the role and functions of the Servizio informazioni of Florence’s Partito d’Azione, during the period from 1943 to the conclusion of WWII, through the analysis of numerous published and unpublished sources. During this crucial period, the information provided by the Servizio informazioni to the Allies was a valuable element in the strengthening of partisan institutions and their political legitimisation. However, after the liberation, the forces of the Servizio informazioni were redirected to observe the policies of the Communist Party.
