The article explores how tourism is portrayed in contemporary Atlantic-Canadian literature. The ways in which tourism is highlighted amount to commodifying underdevelopment and affords valuable lessons about the economic, political, and cultural tensions are highlighted in many contemporary Atlantic Canadian writing. The author says that tourism appears to be a preoccupation of writers in the region. Tourism is also portrayed in Atlantic-Canadian literature as more than a physical imposition.
