The article discusses the benefits of college retirement plans. Even though many people focus on getting rich quick in their careers, the author believes it is a much more sensible plan to gain monetary security over several decades. This can be accomplished by adding a percentage of one's salary to a retirement fund that is matched by one's employer. By doing this, a faculty member can receive what is in essence a raise equal to the amount of matched funds. Tax implications for this savings method are examined.
