Abstract

The article calls for the compliance with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive of the European Union which took effect on July 1, 2006. It cites that the reasons to comply with RoHS are to manage supply chain effectively and to remain competitive. It states that many products will become obsolete if manufacturers do not upgrade them to RoHS compliancy. The National Weight and Measures Laboratory issued guidelines that are expected to become standard for the compliance.
