The article discusses the historiography of psychology in Brazil from the early 20th through the early 21st centuries. The earliest forays into the field are compared with more recent work, especially by researchers from the Work Group on the History of Psychology, part of the Brazilian Association of Research and Graduate Education in Psychology. Particular themes examined are the development of psychology in the Brazilian social and cultural context, the increasing participation of women in psychology, psychology in relation to other professions, and others.
