Abstract: This is a study of nonlinear traveling wave response of a cantilever circular cylindrical shell subjected to a concentrated harmonic force moving in a concentric circular path at a constant velocity. Donnell''s shallow-shell theory is used, so that moderately large vibrations are analyzed. The problem is reduced to a system of ordinary differential equations by means of the Galerkin method. Frequency–responses for six different mode expansions are studied and compared with that for single mode to find the more contracted and accurate mode expansion investigating traveling wave vibration. The method of harmonic balance is applied to study the nonlinear dynamic response in forced oscillations of this system. Results obtained with analytical method are compared with numerical simulation, and the agreement between them bespeaks the validity of the method developed in this paper. Tephrosia vogelii Hook was excellent insecticidal plant, it was introduced into China and planted over a large area in Guangdong province. The main active components of T. vogelii was rotenone and it widely found in leaves and pods of T. vogelii. This paper study of the safety assessment of T. vogelii flowers to worker bees. In this paper, the content of rotenone in T. vogelii petal, nectar, pollen, pistil, and stamen samples were investigated by HPLC, and tested the toxicity of T. vogelii flowers for Apis cerana cerana during 24 h. The dissipation and dynamic of rotenone in A. c. cerana different biological compartments were investigated under indoor conditions during 24 h. The results showed, The LT 50 of T. vogelii flowers to worker bees were collected from the eastern, western, southern, northern and top were 13.95, 24.17, 12.55, 26.48, and 18.84 h, the haemolymph of worker bees have the highest content of rotenone, the least accumulation of rotenone in workers bee's thorax, and the rate of dissipation was slowly during the whole study. In conclusion, the results showed the T. vogelii create security risks to worker bees under some ecosystems. • This paper evaluate the T. vogelii safety for bees and assessment of degree of risk to planting T. vogelii. • A relatively simple method for the content of rotenone analysis in T. vogelii flowers and worker bees was developed. • Research shows the planting T. vogelii in some ecosystems will create security risks for bees. Based on Fermi golden rule, the optical absorption induced by interband transition of electrons and holes in wurtzite Mg x Zn 1− x O/ZnO/Mg y Zn 1− y O asymmetric quantum wells at room temperature has been discussed. The built-in electric field (BEF) and Poisson potential are considered to calculate the eigenstates and eigenenergies of electrons and holes. The interband optical absorption coefficients (IOACs) influenced by ternary mixed crystal and size effects as functions of incident photon wavelengths are presented. The results indicate that increasing Mg component in left barrier can enhance the BEF to enforce electrons (holes) close to the left (right) interface, so as to reduce the overlapping of their wave functions. Thus the IOAC peak decreases rapidly and presents a blue shift with the increment of Mg component x . Furthermore, the size effect on IOACs is also discussed. The absorption peak is more sensitive to the change of the well width than the left barrier size. The absorption peak reduces sharply and shows a red shift with the increase of the well width. We modeled net primary productivity (NPP) at high spatial resolution using an advanced spaceborne thermal emission and reflection radiometer (ASTER) image of a Qilian Mountain study area using the boreal ecosystem productivity simulator (BEPS). Two key driving variables of the model, leaf area index (LAI) and land cover type, were derived from ASTER and moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) data. Other spatially explicit inputs included daily meteorological data (radiation, precipitation, temperature, humidity), available soil water holding capacity (AWC), and forest biomass. NPP was estimated for coniferous forests and other land cover types in the study area. The result showed that NPP of coniferous forests in the study area was about 4.4tCha−1 y−1. The correlation coefficient between the modeled NPP and ground measurements was 0.84, with a mean relative error of about 13.9%. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: The robustness of limit cycles of nonlinear dynamical systems is investigated by adding a small random velocity field to the famous van der Pol (VDP) equation in its two-dimensional phase plane. Our numerical calculations show that a limit cycle does not change much under a weak random perturbation. Thus it confirms the conjecture that a limit cycle will make only a small deformation under an external perturbation. The idea can be used to understand the ac response of self-sustained oscillations in nonlinear dynamical systems. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
