The purpose of the article. Highlighting the spectrum of monetary relations in the Ukrainian emigration center of interwar Czechoslovachchyna through the prism of a share of the «gold reserve of the Ukrainian Peopleʼs Republic» that ended up on the territory of the interwar Czechoslovachchyna; the amount of monetary subsidies within the framework of the «Russian Aid Action» and the bank rates of such currencies as the Czechoslovak krona, Austrian krona, German «gold» mark and Reichsmark, Polish zloty, Soviet ruby and Soviet chervinec. The research methodology is based on the principles of concrete-historical, problem-chronological approaches, principles of objectivity and integrity. The scientific novelty consists in showing the official bank exchange rates of the main currencies of interwar Czechoslovachchyna against the American dollar, their acquisition of the gold standard; the predominance of certain currencies in the wallets of Ukrainians. Conclusions. The «Czechoslovak share of the gold reserve of the Ukrainian Peopleʼs Republic» in the amount of 446000 German «gold» marks was divided into several parts. One part of the funds went to the development of the three most powerful emigrant higher education institutions: Ukrainian Free University (1921–1945), Ukrainian Academy of Economic Sciences (1922–1939) and the Drahomanov Ukrainian Higher Pedagogical Institute (1923–1933). The second part was directed to the publishing of various magazines, journals and bulletins. While the third was spent on the development and activities of such an organization as the «Union of Ukrainian Doctors in Interwar Czechoslovachchyna» (1922–1940). The «Golden Wiener Reserve» was, in fact, a powerful emigration strategic tool, while the monetary subsidies within the framework of the «Ruská pomocná akce» held a tactical line. «Ancillary finances» went to the payment of official salaries and scholarships, the creation of various aid funds with additional payments, public canteens, libraries, public professional associations, and a foreign archive. We analyze the repercussions of different kinds of uncertainty on cash demand, including uncertainty of the digital infrastructures, confidence crises of the financial system, natural disasters, political uncertainties, and inflationary crises. Based on a comprehensive literature survey, theoretical considerations and complemented by case studies, we derive a classification scheme how cash holdings typically evolve in each of these types of uncertainty by separating between demand for domestic and international cash as well as between transaction and store of value balances. Hereby, we focus on the stabilizing macroeconomic properties of cash and recommend guidelines for cash supply by central banks and the banking system. Finally, we exemplify our analysis with five case studies from the developing world, namely Venezuela, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya.

With the aim of giving as good as insight as possible into how money was created from the very beginning until today, the work is divided into a historical and professional part. The beginning of the work deals with the concept of money as it developed throughout history and its functions. In my work, I studied the history of money and symbolic money, currency and the currency system. Furthermore, I wrote about the modern money system as well as the types of modern money.

Banknotes have been counterfeited ever since their introduction. Today, around 350,000 counterfeit euro banknotes are retrieved on an annual basis from circulation worldwide. These counterfeits are seldom of good mimicking quality. Nevertheless, they have been used in a transaction, implying that at some point (or several points) someone has encountered a financial loss. To central banks it remains somewhat of a puzzle that people accept counterfeited banknotes, as it is generally believed by central banks that security features of banknotes can be verified easily. In this thesis, I propose a Model for Accepting or Rejecting a Counterfeit (MARC) that is based on a dual processing theory in which it is assumed there are two different processes that people may use when making decisions. The central viewpoint is that rapid autonomous processes (Type 1) are assumed to yield default responses unless intervened upon by distinctive higher-order reasoning processes (Type 2). Regarding MARC, this means that the default response is an automatic acceptance of a counterfeit (Type 1), as research shows that people generally accept banknotes without consciously verifying their authenticity. This default process transitions into a deliberate authentication process (Type 2) due to a lack of confidence in the cash system, unusual environmental circumstances, or a poor quality of the banknote. Depending on the abilities of the assessor and the characteristics of the security features of a genuine banknote, this authentication process may or may not lead to detecting the counterfeit. Suggestions for the design of better security features are discussed, including attention-guiding features that fit the design of a banknote. This thesis comprises experimental studies that provide some support for MARC, with a focus on the factors prompting (or increasing) Type 2 processing and, consequently, the cognitive factors determining success rates. All these studies have made use of signal detection theory (SDT) measures to gauge participants’ counterfeit detection performance. The first study refers to one of the situational factors. Specifically, the research question was whether the quality of (genuine) banknotes in circulation (the environment) affects counterfeit detection. The study led to the conclusion that the cleanliness of banknotes in circulation helps counterfeit detection. However, the high detection rates in the clean sets of the samples were accompanied by a large number of false alarms. A clean circulation does not seem to contribute to authentication sensitivity. The second study refers to the respective roles of vision and touch, as well as exposure duration. Visual information mostly impacts the decision-making process during the first glance, whereas tactile information increasingly aids performance as it continues to be accrued over time. It could also be deducted that with more training and instruction, the performance of the general public could be much improved. A third study focused on the hypothesized benefit of (1) adding salient design elements to a banknote, and 2) manipulating trust. In summary, this thesis provides insight into why people accept counterfeits, using knowledge of attention, perception and decision-making processes. An overarching goal is to contribute to maintaining the trust of the public in banknotes in general. This will help central banking authorities in their task to promote a safe and reliable payment system and eventually will help the public at large through reduced counterfeit losses.

Krajnji ishod ovog diplomskog rada bio je korištenjem proširene stvarnosti spojiti fizički i virtualni svijet putem novčanica. Trebala se izraditi mobilna aplikacija koja detektira lica na novčanicama i za svaku hrvatsku novčanicu prikazuje virtualni model glave na kameri uređaja. Modeliranje glave, stiliziranje kose, izrada teksture i animiranje modela je postignuto korištenjem Blendera zajedno sa svoja dva nastavka – FaceBuilder i Rigging. Pomoću Vuforia nastavka u programu Unity implementirana je proširena stvarnost, Unity je zaslužan za spajanje svih Blender elemenata unutar projekta te za izgradnju cijele mobilne aplikacije. Rezultati su zadovoljavajući, modeli glava sliče svojim papirnatim verzijama, animacija ,iako ne glatka koliko bi mogla biti, radi sasvim solidno. Jedina zamjerka projektnog rješenja je ne mogućnost korištenja profesionalnih visoko kvalitetnih tekstura ljudskih lica jer se sve trebaju kupiti, a cijene su prilično nedostupne. The end result of this graduate thesis was to use augmented reality and connect physical and virtual world through banknotes. We needed to create a mobile application that detects faces on croatian banknotes. For every croatian banknote face detected, the device camera needed to show the head model of a person on that banknote. Head modeling, hair styling, texutring and animations of the model were all made by using Blender and it's two add-ons – FaceBuilder and Rigging. With the help of Vuforia add-on for Unity the augmented reality was implemented. Unity is responsible for connecting all Blender elements inside the project and building the whole mobile application. The results are pleasing, head models resemble their banknote selves, animations, although not smooth as one would want, work decently. The only complaint concerning this whole project is incapability of using professional and high-end textures of human faces becouse they need to be bought online and the prices are unaffordable.

Nonetheless, overall demand for euro cash remained strong and even increased relative to GDP since the financial crisis in 2008. In this process, however, we observe a supply-driven shift towards lower banknote denominations. Central banks all over the world are intensively thinking about the potential issue of a Central Bank Digital Currency as a substitute or complement to cash. Although the characteristics of a possible digital euro have become more perceptible, its fundamental design properties remain unknown. We propose a double pre-paid scheme combining central elements of TARGET Instant Payment Settlement and electronic money features enabling offline and online instant payments. The issuance of a digital euro would be neutral to total money supply as banks act only as intermediaries. Since anonymity is categorically discarded by the ECB and as cash has some special advantages from a consumer perspective, the digital euro will rather co-circulate with cash than replace it in transactions.

Bei den Verunreinigungen handelt es sich vorrangig um Polymere, Metalle und metallische Komplexe. Der erschlossene Baumwollkern wurde mittels des Ioncell® Prozesses chemisch recycelt. Dabei wurde das auf Zellulose basierende Material in einer Ionischen Flüssigkeit, 1,5-diazabicyclo(4.3.0)non-5-enium acetate [DBNH][OAc], gelöst. Eine hoch viskose Spinnlösung wurde erhalten, welche mittels einer Spinndüse zu Zellulose Fasern verarbeitet wurde. Die Zellulose wurde in einem Spinnbad ausgefällt, im Anschluss gewaschen, getrocknet und zu einem Stück Stoff weiterverarbeitet. Die physikalischen und chemischen Eigenschaften (Aschegehalt, elementare Zusammensetzung, intrinsische Viskosität, etc.) der Banknoten wurden im jeweiligen Behandlungsschritt ausführlich durch geeignete analytische Messmethoden bestimmt. Eine deutliche Reduktion der Verunreinigungen und damit eine einhergehende Erhöhung des Zellulosegehalts von 86,1% des Ausgangsmaterials auf 95,1% der vollständig aufgereinigten Banknoten war zu beobachten. Durch die Behandlung wurde die intrinsische Viskosität von etwa 600 ml/g auf knapp unter 400 ml/g reduziert. Zudem wurden die mechanischen und optischen Eigenschaften der regenerierten Fasern anhand von analytischen Messmethoden (Zugfestigkeitsmessung, Birefringenz, SEM, XRD, FTIR, STA, Elementaranalyse, GPC) ermittelt. Im Laufe der Arbeit wurden zwei unterschiedliche Fasern produziert, grüne Ioncell® Fasern nach 5, und weiße Ioncell® Fasern nach 7 aufeinander folgenden Behandlungsschritten. Die produzierten grünen Fasern wiesen eine Reißfestigkeit von rund 36 cN/tex bei einer Reißdehnung von etwa 8 % auf. Die weißen Fasern erzielten mit einer Reißfestigkeit von rund 32 cN/tex bei einer Reißdehnung von etwa 6 % etwas geringere Werte auf.
