BackgroundThe diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease （AD） still faces great challenges， and the advantage of electroencephalogram （EEG） diagnosis lies in its portable and non-invasive nature， so the EEG diagnosis of AD has occupied an important place in clinical research.ObjectiveTo evaluate the value of resting state EEG for AD diagnosis， and to provide references for early recognition of AD in clinical practice.MethodsClinical data of AD patients （n=59） in an Inpatient Geriatric Psychiatry Unit of Shenzhen Kangning Hospital from May 2019 to May 2022 were retrospectively analyzed， and healthy elderly individuals attending outpatient clinics at the hospital during the same period were enrolled as control group （n=54）. Eight-channel resting state EEG data were acquired， and the absolute power values in the α， β， θ and δ frequency bands and the α/θ ratio were obtained and calculated using Fast Fourier Transform （FFT）. Cognitive function assessments of patients were done by Mini-Mental State Examination （MMSE） and Montreal Cognitive Assessment （MoCA）. Spearman correlation analysis was used to examine the correlation between EEG findings and MMSE and MoCA scores of AD patienrs. Logistic regression prediction model for AD was built using currently available EEG and clinical variables， and the model performance was assessed using the receiver operating characteristic （ROC） curve and the area under curve （AUC）.ResultsThe θ-band absolute powers in the right mid-frontal （F4） and mid-lateral （F7， F8） regions were higher in AD patients than those in healthy controls， with statistically significant difference （t=-2.844， -2.825， -3.014， P

Coastal‐wetlands play a crucial role as carbon (C) reservoirs on Earth due to their C pool composition and functional sink, making them significant for mitigating global climate change. However, due to the development and utilization of wetland resources, many wetlands have been transformed into other land‐use types. The current study focuses on the alterations in soil organic‐C (SOC) in coastal‐wetlands following reclamation into aquaculture ponds. We conducted sampling at 11 different coastal‐wetlands along the tropical to temperate regions of the China coast. Each site included two community types, one with solely native species (Suaeda salsa, Phragmites australis and Mangroves) and the other with an adjacent reclaimed aquaculture pond. Across these 11 locations we compared SOC stock, active OC fractions, and soil physicochemical properties between coastal wetlands and aquaculture ponds. We observed that different soil uses, sampling sites, and their interaction had significant effects on SOC and its stock (p <.05). Reclamation significantly declined SOC concentration at depths of 0–15 cm and 15–30 cm by 35.5% and 30.3%, respectively, and also decreased SOC stock at 0–15 cm and 15–30 cm depths by 29.1% and 37.9%, respectively. Similar trends were evident for SOC stock, labile organic‐C, dissolved organic‐C and microbial biomass organic‐C concentrations (p <.05), indicating soil C‐destabilization and losses from soil following conversion. Soils in aquaculture ponds exhibited higher bulk density (BD; 11.3%) and lower levels of salinity (61.0%), soil water content (SWC; 11.7%), total nitrogen (TN) concentration (23.8%) and available‐nitrogen concentration (37.7%; p <.05) than coastal‐wetlands. Redundancy‐analysis revealed that pH, BD and TN concentration were the key variables most linked with temporal variations in SOC fractions and stock between two land use types. This study provides a theoretical basis for the rational utilization and management of wetland resources, the achievement of an environment‐friendly society, and the preservation of multiple service functions within wetland ecosystems. Objective: To identify the alterations of CD8+ T cells in blood and labial salivary glands (LSGs) of patients with Primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS). Methods: Blood samples from 24 pSS patients were assayed for CD38+ HLA-DR+ CD8+ (activated CD8+, aCD8+) T cells and serum IFN-γ and TNF-α, using flow cytometry and ELISA respectively, and compared with samples from 27 healthy controls. Immunohistochemistry was used to count CD8+ T cells in LSG tissues of 24 pSS patients and of 6 control patients with normal pathology. Results: pSS patients had more aCD8+ T cells than aCD4+ T cells (medians 33.13% vs. 9.43%, p < 0.0001), and had an increased level of aCD8+ T cells (medians 33.13% vs. 16.48%, p < 0.0001) and serum IFN-γ (medians 1026 pg/mL vs. 0.00 pg/mL, p < 0.0001) compared to the healthy controls. The levels of aCD8+ T cells and IFN-γ were both significant positively correlated with European League Against Rheumatism Sjögren's Syndrome Disease Activity Index, IgG, anti-nuclear antibodies, rheumatoid factor. The LSGs focus score (FS) ≥1 group had more CD8+ T cell counts than 0≤ FS <1 group and control group (medians 256/mm2 vs. 126/mm2 and 256/mm2 vs. 64/mm2 respectively, both p < 0.05). Conclusion: The aCD8+ T cells and IFN-γ are positively correlated with each other, and predominantly elevated in the blood of pSS patients. In the LSG tissues of pSS, CD8+ T cell counts increase with severity of the lesions. CD8+ T cells may play crucial role in the pathogenesis of pSS. In this paper, we design a solar absorber based on the Si3N4–W–Ti–SiO2 insulator–metal–insulator structure and demonstrate it using the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. The absorption rate of the absorber consisting of a multi-layer structure with cross etching is over 90% in the bandwidth of 500 nm to 2995 nm with an average absorption rate of 98.3%. There are three peaks at 620 nm, 1002 nm and 1761 nm with peak heights of 99.8%, 99.8% and 99.0%, respectively. By analyzing the distribution of electric and magnetic fields in different sections of the absorber, it is found that the physical mechanism of the structure with high absorptivity is due to the interaction of propagating surface plasmon resonance and local surface plasma resonance. The effects of different structural parameters and the angle of incidence of a light source on the absorber absorption are discussed. The absorber can be used in solar thermal systems, thermal photovoltaics and thermoelectronic devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus) cellulose was isolated from wood powder by dewaxing, delignification, and subsequent 4% NaOH extraction. 2,2,6,6-Tetramethyl-piperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO)-oxidized eucalyptus celluloses were prepared from never-dried eucalyptus cellulose (EC) in yields of 96% and 72% (based on the dry weight of EC) when oxidized with NaOCl of 5 and 10 mmol/g-EC, respectively. Their carboxy contents were 1.4 and 1.8 mmol/g, respectively, when determined by conductivity titration. The crystallinity of cellulose I for EC decreased by TEMPO-mediated oxidation, showing that the originally crystalline region in EC was partly converted to disordered regions by TEMPO-mediated oxidation. Correspondingly, the relative signal area of C6‒OH/C1 with the trans-gauche (tg) conformation attributed to crystalline cellulose I in the solid-state 13C NMR spectrum of EC decreased from 0.42 to 0.34 by TEMPO-mediated oxidation with NaOCl of 10 mmol/g-EC. TEMPO-oxidized EC prepared with NaOCl of 10 mmol/g-EC was almost completely converted into individual TEMPO-oxidized EC nanofibrils (TEMPO-ECNFs) of homogeneous widths of ∼3 nm widths and lengths of >1 μm by mechanical disintegration in water. However, the TEMPO-ECNFs contained many kinks and had uneven surfaces, probably owing to significant damage occurring on the surface cellulose molecules of crystalline cellulose microfibrils during TEMPO-mediated oxidation.
