Borderline ovarian tumors (BOTs), which are a special type of epithelial tumor of the ovary, lie between benign and malignant tumors and have low malignant potential. Due to the fact that the early symptoms of these tumors are relatively subtle, they are not easy to diagnose clinically. This study explores advancements in clinical detection methods and provides a comprehensive overview of molecules such as cell migration factors, cell transcription factors, cell damage repair factors, cell cycle regulators, and tumor suppressor genes that are related to the development of BOTs and their related mechanisms in recent years, thus aiming to provide more sensitive, specific, and efficient differential diagnosis and treatment plans for patients to improve their prognosis and survival outcomes.

Thermal ablation (TA), including radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and microwave ablation (MWA), has become the main treatment for early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) due to advantages such as safety and minimal invasiveness. However, HCC is prone to local recurrence, with more aggressive malignancies after TA closely related to TA-induced changes in epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and remodeling of the tumor microenvironment (TME). According to many studies, various components of the TME undergo complex changes after TA, such as the recruitment of innate and adaptive immune cells, the release of tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) and various cytokines, the formation of a hypoxic microenvironment, and tumor angiogenesis. Changes in the TME after TA can partly enhance the anti-tumor immune response; however, this response is weak to kill the tumor completely. Certain components of the TME can induce an immunosuppressive microenvironment through complex interactions, leading to tumor recurrence and progression. How the TME is remodeled after TA and the mechanism by which the TME promotes HCC recurrence and progression are unclear. Thus, in this review, we focused on these issues to highlight potentially effective strategies for reducing and preventing the recurrence and progression of HCC after TA.

Valproic acid (VPA) has been widely used as an antiepileptic drug for decades. Although VPA is effective and well-tolerated, long-term VPA treatment is usually associated with hepatotoxicity. However, the underlying mechanisms of VPA-caused hepatotoxicity remain unclear. In this study, a total of 157 pediatric patients with epilepsy were recruited and divided into normal liver function (NLF, 112 subjects) group and abnormal liver function (ABLF, 45 subjects) group. We observed that MTHFR A1298C and MTHFR C677T variants may be linked to VPA-induced liver dysfunction (p = 0.001; p = 0.023, respectively). We also found that the MTHFR A1298C polymorphism was associated with a higher serum Hcy level (p = 0.001) and a lower FA level (p = 0.001). Moreover, the serum Hcy levels was strongly correlated with the GSH and TBARS concentrations (r = −0.6065, P < 0.001; r = 0.6564, P < 0.001, respectively). Furthermore, logistic analysis indicated that MTHFR A1298C/C677T polymorphisms and increased Hcy concentrations may be risk factors for VPA-induced liver dysfunction. These results suggested that individual susceptibility to VPA-induced liver dysfunction may result from MTHFR A1298C/C677T polymorphisms and increased Hcy levels. This study may be helpful for the prevention and guidance of VPA-induced liver dysfunction.

On the basis of sensory evaluation, the chromatic aberration value of dry tea, tea infusion and infused leaf were measured respectively. In order to explore the quality of Baoqing guiding green tea and establish its evaluation system, 30 samples of Baoqing guiding green tea were selected to evaluate the sensory quality, and the contents of biochemical components such as water extract, tea polyphenols, caffeine, amino acids and soluble sugar and catechin composition were determined. At the same time, the quality of Baoqing guiding green tea was comprehensively evaluated by principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis (CA), and the quality evaluation model of Baoqing guiding green tea was established. The results showed that the sensory of spring tea was the best, summer tea was the second, and autumn tea was the worst. The water extract content of Baoqing guiding green tea was 44.77%~49.17%, the content of tea polyphenols was 22.49%~26.84%, the content of caffeine was 4.89%~5.93%, the content of amino acids was 2.88%~5.84%, and the content of soluble sugar was 4.16%~7.02%, which showed the characteristics of high amino acid, high caffeine and high EGCG, and accorded with the biochemical characteristics of famous green tea. There was a very significant correlation between the contents of biochemical components of Baoqing guiding green tea at different picking stages, of which water extract, tea polyphenol, caffeine, D-LC, EC and GCG were significantly correlated (P
