The transfer economy in football is a multi-billion-dollar industry, where accurate valuation of players is crucial for clubs' financial sustainability and competitive success. This study investigates the role of performance metrics in estimating the market values of football players in Europe's top five leagues (Spain's La Liga, France's Ligue 1, England's Premier League, Italy's Serie A, and Germany's Bundesliga). The study collected 28 performance metrics (e.g., goals, shots per game, assists, and pass success percentage) for 1508 players from the Whoscored platform. Additionally, the players' positions and the leagues they play in were also included as features. These data were combined with market values from the Transfermarkt platform, resulting in a comprehensive dataset. Two main analytical methods were employed: regression and classification. In the regression analysis, seven models (Adaboost, Decision Tree, Gradient Boosting, K Nearest Neighbors, Random Forest, Ridge Regression, and Support Vector Machine) predicted players' market values. The highest accuracy was achieved with the Random Forest algorithm (R-squared: 0.90). In the classification analysis, players' market values were categorized into four classes (low, lower-mid, upper-mid, and high), and their class memberships were predicted based on performance metrics. The CNN algorithm achieved the highest accuracy, with a success rate of 97%. The results indicate that performance metrics significantly contribute to estimating football players' market values, and models based on these metrics can assist clubs in making more informed, data-driven decisions during transfers.

This article examines the poetry of Ken‘ān Rifā‘ī (1867-1950), a late Ottoman sufi bureaucrat, poet, and musician. It explores Rifā‘ī’s contributions to Turkish Sufi poetry, focusing on his role as a bridge between the Ottoman Sufi tradition and the intellectual world of the late Ottoman period. In his work, İlâhiyât-ı Ken‘ân, Rifā‘ī reinterprets traditional Sufi themes such as divine love, dervishhood, and the unity of being during the socio-political transformations of the Tanzimat and Constitutional eras, developing a voice, unique to his time. His poetry skillfully combines Sufi metaphysical concepts with contemporary issues like homeland, freedom, and progress, offering meaningful responses to changing social realities while preserving the spiritual essence of Ottoman Sufi thought. This study conducts a detailed textual analysis of İlâhiyât-ı Ken‘ân, positioning Rifā‘ī’s works within their historical and socio-political contexts and highlighting his ability to engage tradition while addressing the needs of his era. Rifā‘ī emerges not only as a guardian of Sufi ideals but also as a significant cultural figure, adapting and integrating these ideals into the contemporary realities of his time.

Objective: To compare the performance of the EMA (European Medicines Agency) algorithm for classification of necrotizing vasculitis and the new American College of Rheumatology (ACR)/European League of Rheumatology (EULAR) 2022 classification criteria in our single center long-term anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) associated vasculitis (AAV) cohort. Methods: Patients classified as granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) and microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) according to EMA algorithm were included into the study. ACR/EULAR 2022 classification criteria were implemented retrospectively. Antibody-based classification (ABC) was performed as a third model, which classify patients either GPA or MPA if anti-proteinase 3 (PR3) or myeloperoxidase (MPO) is positive, respectively. Kappa analysis was used to explore the agreement between criteria sets. Results: Data of 221 patients classified as GPA (85.6%) and MPA (14.5%) according to EMA algorithm were included. PR3-ANCA and MPO-ANCA was positive in 124 (56.1%) and 79 (35.7%) patients. ACR/EULAR 2022 classified 137 (62%) and 84 (38%) patients as GPA and MPA, respectively. Nine (4%) patients were classified as both GPA and MPA, nine (4%) patients were unclassifiable. The new criteria set was in weak agreement with EMA algorithm (kappa=0.28 for GPA and 0.24 for MPA). On the other hand, strong agreement with ABC was observed (kappa=0.88 for GPA and 0.89 for MPA). Conclusion: A significant number of patients who classified as GPA could be classified as MPA with the ACR/EULAR 2022 criteria and agreement with EMA algorithm was weak. The new criteria set was indecisive for some AAV patients. Strong agreement with ABC indicated the significant influence of serology in the ACR/EULAR 2022 criteria.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate how undergoing hysteroscopy affects the reproductive rates of women with unexplained infertility. Methods: A total of 145 women who were aged between 20 and 40 years, who had been diagnosed with unexplained infertility and who underwent hysteroscopy at the study center between 1 January 2021 and 1 January 2022 were enrolled in this study. All patients who underwent hysteroscopy were put to an 18-month-long follow-up period. Results: The clinical pregnancy rate was 43.4%, whereas the live birth rate was 38.6% in this cohort. Average time to pregnancy took 5.6±1.8 months (range: 2-9 months). The mode of conception was unassisted in 28 pregnancies (44.4%) whereas the mode of conception was ovarian stimulation combined with intrauterine insemination in 23 pregnancies (36.5%) and in vitro fertilization in 12 pregnancies (19.1%). The patients who were able to conceive after hysteroscopy had significantly younger age, lower gravidity, and parity than those who failed to conceive (p=0.008, p=0.005 and p=0.001, respectively). The patients who successfully gave birth to living newborns after hysteroscopy had significantly younger age, lower gravidity, and parity than those who failed to deliver (p=0.040, p=0.003 and p=0.001, respectively). Septum resection was significantly more frequent and adhesiolysis was significantly less frequent in patients who were able to give birth to living newborns after hysteroscopy (p=0.038 and p=0.014, respectively). Conclusion: Hysteroscopy appears to have a positive impact on live birth rates in women with unexplained infertility.

Container terminals are among the most critical parts of transportation systems. Reducing the ship turnaround time increases terminal efficiency and enhances global trade volumes. Such time reductions can be achieved by improving the operational efficiency of major resources at container terminals. Quay crane operating strategies are crucial for assessing the performance of container terminals. Simulation models are effective and reliable methods for interpreting and improving complex systems. This study proposes simulation models that include container loading and unloading tasks in marine container terminals implementing single-cycling and double-cycling strategies. Double-cycling is a quay crane operating strategy that attempts to improve container handling efficiency. The system was modeled using ARENA simulation software. The implementation results of the single-cycling and double-cycling strategies were compared in terms of the performance criteria, such as the utilization rates of the quay crane and yard trucks, ship turnaround time, and operating cost.

Purpose: To compare the effective optical zones (EOZs) of small-incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) and femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (F-LASIK) by utilizing topographic methods on the tangential curvature difference map at postoperative 1 year and to identify parameters linked to the EOZ alterations following both surgeries. Methods: Myopic patients who underwent SMILE or F-LASIK were included in the study. Patients with refractive error greater than −9.0 D sphere or −0.50 D of astigmatism were excluded from the study. EOZs were measured at postoperative 1 year by using the tangential curvature difference map of the Scheimpflug tomography system. Correlations between the EOZ alterations and relevant parameters were assessed. Results: In total, 59 eyes in the SMILE group and 65 eyes in the F-LASIK group were assessed. The decrease in EOZ compared with the programmed optical zone was significantly higher in the F-LASIK group (P < 0.001). The increase in corneal asphericity was significantly relevant to the decrease in EOZin both groups according to the multiple regression analysis (P < 0.001, B/95% CI: 0.62/0.34 and 0.90, standardized-Beta: 0.587 for the SMILE group; P < 0.001, B/95% CI: 0.74/0.41 and 1.07, standardized-Beta: 0.631 for the F-LASIK group). Conclusion: The EOZ decreased 1 year after both SMILE and F-LASIK. The SMILE group showed less EOZ reduction than F-LASIK patients relative to the programmed optical zone. The decrease in EOZ was correlated with the increase in corneal asphericity in both groups.

The etiology of cognitive decline linked to migraine remains unclear, with a growing recurrence rate and potential increased dementia risk among sufferers. Cognitive dysfunction has recently gained attention as a significant problem among migraine sufferers that can be related to alterations in hippocampal function and structure. This study explores hippocampal subfield connectivity and volume changes in migraine patients.We recruited 90 individuals from Alanya University's Neurology Department, including 49 migraine patients and 41 controls, for functional and anatomical imaging. This study aims to present the laparoscopic management of the catheter fragment that remains within the cyst wall after percutaneous cyst aspiration with sclerotherapy.

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is primarily characterized by motor symptoms, but non-motor symptoms, including skin manifestations, are increasingly recognized. These remain underexplored despite their potential impact on quality of life. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence and clinical features of skin findings in PD patients, with a focus on identifying potential pathogenetic links between dermatological conditions and PD. Methods: A total of 215 PD patients were included. Comprehensive dermatological examinations were performed, and demographic and clinical data were collected. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS 23.0, with significance set at P < 0.05. Results: Skin conditions were found in 92.1% of PD patients. Xerosis, seborrheic dermatitis, and hyperhidrosis were the most common findings. Pre-PD xerosis was associated with an earlier stage of PD (P = 0.001). Use of PD medications, such as levodopa/carbidopa/entacapone, was linked to a lower incidence of seborrheic dermatitis (P = 0.040). A significant correlation was also noted between rosacea and cherry angioma (P = 0.01). Conclusion: Dermatological conditions are prevalent in PD and may precede its motor symptoms. Skin assessments could aid early diagnosis and management of PD, highlighting the need for further research on their pathogenetic mechanisms.

Background Physiatrists are facing with survivors from disasters in both the acute and chronic phases of muscle and nerve injuries. Similar to many other clinical conditions, neuromusculoskeletal ultrasound can play a key role in the management of such cases (with various muscle/nerve injuries) as well. Accordingly, in this article, a recent single-center experience after the Turkey-Syria earthquake will be rendered. Methods Ultrasound examinations were performed for various nerve/muscle lesions in 52 earthquake victims referred from different cities. Demographic features, type of injuries, and applied treatment procedures as well as detailed ultrasonographic findings are illustrated. Results Of the 52 patients, 19 had incomplete peripheral nerve lesions of the brachial plexus (n=4), lumbosacral plexus (n=1), and upper and lower limbs (n=14). Conclusion The ultrasonographic approach during disaster relief is paramount as regards subacute and chronic phases of rehabilitation. Considering technological advances (e.g., portable machines), the use of on-site ultrasound examination in the (very) early phases of disaster response also needs to be on the agenda of medical personnel.

Fen bilimi olarak kabul edilen fizik; madde ve maddeye bağlı olarak ortaya çıkmış yapıların ortaya çıkış nedenini, durumunu ve değişimini incelemektedir. Fizik bilimi açısından ortaya çıkan yapılar makro ve mikro yapılar olarak iki temel durumda incelenir ve mikro durum ve makro durumların etkileşimi üzerinden çıkarımlar elde edilmektedir. Burada söz konusu mikro durumlar olarak molekül ve atom boyutundaki yapıların maddenin makro yapısı ile olan etkileşimlerin incelenmesidir. İktisadi bilimlerde ise işlem yapan her bir birey (temsilci (Agent)) bir mikro durum olarak kabul edilerek makro durumla olan etkileşimi. Söz konusu bu benzetime dayalı modellemelerin ilk olarak Fisher (1933) tarafından öne sürüldüğü düşünülse de çok daha eski dönemde fizik ve iktisadi bilimlerin birbirlerine benzetim yolu ile modelleme çözümlemeleri ortaya atılmıştır. Fizik ve iktisadi bilimlerin ortak bir paydada bir araya gelmeleri fizik biliminin gelişimine bağlı olarak ortaya çıkartılan matematiksel modellerin iktisatçılar tarafından ilgi görmesi ve söz konusu modellerin ekonomik kavramlarla da çalışıp çalışmadığının merak edilmesi ile başlamaktadır.Çeşitli yönleri ile fizik ve iktisadi bilimlerin birbirlerine yakınlaşması yeni bir kavram olmayıp geçmişi oldukça eskilere dayanmaktadır. Özellikle tüm bilim alanlarında araştırılan problemlerde nedensellik ilişkisi aranması bilim insanlarını öncelikle deterministik, matematiksel, anlaşılır ve basit modeller önermeye itmiştir. Bu durum kendini iktisadi bilimlerde klasik ve neo klasik iktisadi ekol olarak göstermiştir. Ancak fizik alanında yaşanan stokastik çözümlemeler iktisadi bilimleri ve özellikle de finans alanını etkilemiştir. Keyness iktisat ekolü ile başlayan iktisadi problemleri stokastik modellerle açıklama çabası ekonometri biliminin gelişmesine neden olmuştur. Fizik alanında istatistiksel fiziğin gelişmesi öncelikle istatistiğin ve dolaylı olarak ta ekonometrinin gelişmesindeki rolü oldukça büyük olmuştur. Ayrıca finansal problemlerin çözümünde yeni oluşturulan olasılıklı modellerin deterministik modellerden daha başarılı olduğu son 40-50 yılın araştırma makalelerinden anlaşılmaktadır. Tüm anlatımlardan elde edilecek çıkarım ise istatistiksel fiziğin gelişmesinde temel konu olan termodinamik ve termodinamik kuramlarının iktisadi bilimler içerisinde özellikle finans konularında da test edilmesi gerekliliğidir. Yapmış olduğumuz bu çalışmada fizik biliminin ilgilendiği en temel konulardan biri olan termodinamiğin içerisinde sıcaklık kavramının finansal zaman serilerinde hesaplanabilir olup olmadığını araştırmaktır. Eğer finansal zaman serileri üzerinde bir sıcaklık kavramı oluşturulabilirsek ve hesaplanan sıcaklık değerleri ile zaman serileri arasında anlamlı ilişkiler kurulabilirse finansal analizler için yeni bir analiz ölçüsü ortaya çıkacaktır. Elde edilen sıcaklık değerleri daha sonraki çalışmalarda istatistiksel fizik kavramları ile diğer finansal problemlerin çözümünde de kullanılabilecektir. Bu çerçevede çalışmamızın birinci amacı, sıcaklık kavramının finansal zaman serilerinde hesaplanabilir olup olmadığını, aynı zamanda da Kleinert ve Chen Piyasa Sıcaklık Modeli ile Subias Piyasa Sıcaklık Modelini karşılaştırarak hangisinin S&P500 endeksinin logaritmik getirilerini açıklamakta daha başarılı sonuçlar verdiğini araştırmaktır. Çalışmanın bir diğer amacı ise her iki modelide modifiye ederek yeniden karşılaştırmak ve elde edilen bulgulara göre literatüre katkı sağlamaktır. Bu çerçevede hesaplamalarda önce Kleinert ve Chen Piyasa Sıcaklık Modeli ile Subias Piyasa Sıcaklık Modeli kullanılmış, daha sonra her iki model modifiye edilerek piyasa sıcaklıkları yeniden hesaplanmış ve kıyaslanmıştır. Her iki piyasa sıcaklığı modelini aynı şartlar altında kıyaslayabilmek için S&P 500 endeksinin 02/01/2010 – 30/12/2022 tarihleri arasında günlük kapanış verileri kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulardan ulaşılan sonuçlara göre, her iki modelinde yeterince anlamlı sonuclar üretmediği, ancak modellerin modifiye edilmesi sonrasında negatif sıcaklık değerlerine sahip piyasa sıcaklık verilerinin S&P500 endeksinin log getirilerini açıklamak için yeterli veriler oluşturduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca iki model kıyaslandığında KCMT^ modelinin SMT^ modeline göre S&P500 endeksinin log getirilerini açıklamada daha başarılı olduğu görülmüştür.

This study aims to examine Demand Side Response (DSR) programs, where the consumer side actively participates, to determine the most competitive, transparent, flexible, and suitable program for the structure of the Türkiye electricity market. The objective is to select one of the Demand Side Response (DSR) programs, using mathematical methods, that can provide the most effective response to Türkiye's increasing energy demand and present a market-specific proposal. The limited energy resources, losses in transmission, and environmental problems collectively drive the direction toward more efficient and economical energy use on the demand side (Benek Arslan, 2021). Therefore, various pricing programs and tariff strategies are implemented to regulate and balance demand (Özpınar, 2021). One of these pricing and tariff programs is the Demand Side Response (DSR) program, where consumption is reduced against fluctuations in energy prices in the electricity market or in case of system constraints and security (Hasanova & Varbak, 2021). The main objective of DSR programs is to offer energy to consumers at more affordable prices while ensuring an uninterrupted and sustainable energy supply. These programs promote energy efficiency among consumers, encouraging energy conservation and contributing to more sustainable energy consumption (Acar, Yule Bennett, & Scott, 2021). In this study, firstly, general information about demand side response (DSR) implemented in electricity markets is presented. The method section includes the analysis of DSR programs. The study aims to minimize the high prices in the market, system security, and transmission constraints by selecting one of the DSR programs and to encourage conscious consumption by managing energy consumption on the consumer side.

This paper studies the fresh and mechanical properties of high-strength concrete (HSC) by incorporating recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) of varying sizes and concentrations. The recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) was prepared by partially replacing RCA with natural coarse aggregate (NCA) at 0%, 15%, 30%, and 45%, with aggregate sizes ranging from 5 to 12 and 12–20-mm. Fresh concrete properties, such as slump, Kelly ball, compacting factor, K-slump, and fresh density, were tested to determine the influence of RCA size and concentration. In addition, the mechanical properties were studied through the execution of compressive, split-tensile, and stress-strain tests. The test results revealed that increasing the RCA concentration declines the fresh and hardened properties of HSC. In the fresh concrete experimentation, the 12–20 mm aggregate size RAC mixes exhibited greater workability than the 5–12 mm aggregate mixes. On the contrary, 5–12 mm aggregate mixes RAC had higher compressive and split-tensile strength and a higher modulus of elasticity than 12–20 mm aggregate mixes concrete. When it comes to sustainability, the study found that the smaller size range of RAC produces inferior embodied CO2 (eCO2) and provides a cost-effective and sustainable solution for the construction industry.
