This study will analyze the performance of savonius water turbines by using blades with the Myring equation n = 1 and adding a circular cylinder on the side of advancing which is simulated in flowing tank with a height of 800 mm and width of 1100 mm with a current speed of 0.22 m/s. The diameter variation of the circular cylinder used is ds/D = 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4. The numerical analysis uses 2D analysis and CFD method in ANSYS-Fluent software. The results obtained from these variations in torque coefficient values and power coefficient. The results of this study indicate that modifying the myring equation n of 1 and adding a circular cylinder on the advancing side can improve the performance of the Savonius. Savonius water turbine test results on variations of myring n = 1 with cylinder diameter ds/D = 0.4 get the highest power coefficient. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A circular cylinder has been applied to the world of engineering with various geometries and is frequently placed in the stream of the fluid flow. The interaction between the flow and the cylinders causes drag, and at certain circumstances, causes lift also. The drag occurs due to the presence of pressure and friction on the cylinder surface. Therefore, in the present study, the researcher tried to investigate the flow behavior across three circular cylinders in a stagger arrangement placed in the airflow. The purpose of this study is to obtain drag reduction that occurs on the cylinder arrangement. This research was conducted numerically using Ansys Fluent® 19.1 and conducted in two-dimensional (2D) Unsteady RANS using the turbulence model of standard k-epsilon. In this study, the longitudinal distance (L/D) has four variations, i.e. L/D = 1.5; 2.0; 3.0; and 4.0 with a diameter of the cylinder (D)=25 mm. The cylinder arrangement is placed in a narrow channel with a square cross-section Wide x High x Long=300 mm x 300 mm x 600 mm, the flow Reynolds number in this study is set to be 2.4 x 10
4 . The results showed that the distance (L/D) greatly affects the coefficient of drag of the circular cylinder in that arrangement. The smallest coefficient of drag on cylinders 1 and 2 occurs at a distance (L/D=3.0), while the smallest coefficient of drag on cylinder 3 occurs at a distance (L/D=2.0). - Abstract
Indonesia produced 30 × 106 t of waste in 2021; 40 % was organic and 276 × 103 t leftover rice. Meanwhile, broiler chicken farmers have been struggling with high feed costs to continue their production. Processing leftover rice into "aking-rice" is environmentally friendly, and it also provides alternative feed for chickens. "Aking-rice" is a type of resistant starch because it has undergone a gelatinization process that works as a synthesis of short-chain fatty acids that positively improve the function of the digestive tract because it increases the villi in the small intestine. This study analyzed the potential of “akingrice” in broiler chicken productivity. The experimental method was a completely randomized design with three treatments, five replications and 12 chickens in each unit. The treatments are T0 (100 % basal feed), T1 (80 % basal feed + 20 % “akingrice” spread on top of the basal feed), and T2 (80 % basal feed + 20 % "aking-rice" mix). Statistical analysis used ANOVA, and continued with LSD with observed variables, i.e. Feed Intake (FI), Average Daily Gain (ADG), Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), and Performance Index (PI). The results showed that the highest FI values were T0 (99.02), T1 (97.45), and T2 (96.58). The highest ADG was T1 (40.40) then T0 (37.07) and the lowest was T2 (36.40). T1 has the lowest FCR (2.42) compared to T0 (2.68), T2 (2.66). The lowest FCR is T1 (2.42), then T2 (2.66) and the highest is T0 (2.68). The third variable was not significantly different, but the PI results showed a significant difference with the highest PI value T1 (433.84), while T0 (374.81) and T2 (372.67) were not different. Economic analysis also shows that the highest cost T0 (118 475) is significantly different from T1 (110 541) and T2 (109 558). The highest profit is shown by T1 (2 102) then T2 (1 063) and T0 (507). In conclusion, the use of "aking-rice" can increase the performance index with a higher ADG value and a lower FCR so that the costs are smaller and

- Abstract
Leadership is vital to the survival and success of organizations, including schools. Therefore, this study focuses on investigating the effect of a school principal's visionary leadership (PVL) on school governance, reward system, and teacher turnover intention, as well as exploring the role of school governance and reward system in mediating the influence of PVL on teacher turnover intention. A questionnaire on a Likert scale was used to collect research data from 439 honorary teachers from private schools in Indonesia. They were selected by accidental sampling based on their willingness and willingness to fill out the questionnaire entirely without receiving any compensation. Descriptive and correlational analyzes were used to support path analysis. The results show that PVL has a significant effect on school governance, reward system, and teacher turnover intention. In addition, school governance and reward systems have also been shown to mediate the effect of PVL on teacher turnover intention. Thus, a new empirical model was found regarding the effect of PVL on turnover intention mediated by school governance and reward system. This finding can be used as exciting discussion material among researchers and practitioners to reduce turnover intention among teachers through PVL with school governance and reward system mediation mechanisms. DRUG resistance in bacteria , *ESCHERICHIA coli , *PATHOGENIC bacteria , *MICROBIAL sensitivity tests , *FOOD pathogens - Abstract
Introduction: Chicken is a source of protein that becomes a reservoir for pathogens under poor hygienic environments. Uncontrolled use of antibiotics in the poultry industry may result in the development of multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria. This study aimed to assess the microbiological quality of raw chicken breasts sold in Terengganu, Malaysia, as well as the antibiotic profile of isolated pathogenic bacteria and their survival in high salt concentrations. Methods: Isolation of foodborne pathogens was performed via selective media according to the Food and Drug Administration's Bacteriological Analytical Manual. Phenotypic identification was carried out using the Analytical Profile Index (API) 20E Test Kit, followed by an antimicrobial susceptibility test using Kirby-Bauer methods. The growth of MDR bacteria was determined using optical density and was compared to that of the antibiotic susceptible isolates after 24 h incubation in high salt concentrations. Results: C. youngae, E. aerogenes, E. coli, K. oxytoca and Salmonella spp. were identified from the samples. All samples showed unacceptable microbial count limit. Out of eight bacteria isolates, six were MDR (75%) and three expressed resistance to all six antibiotics tested (37%). The bacteria isolates had a multiple antibiotic resistance (MAR) index of 0.33-1.0. C. youngae, E. coli, K. oxytoca and Salmonella spp. exhibited enhanced survival at 6% or 8% salt concentration. Conclusion: This study revealed the poor microbiological quality of raw chicken breasts due to contamination of MAR foodborne pathogens that developed cross-protection under high salt concentrations, thus indicating food safety risks and challenges. MILK substitutes , *TEMPERATURE effect , *LOW-income consumers , *COCONUT milk , *RAW milk - Abstract
Introduction: Milk is one of the good sources for bacterial growth. Poor consumer handling may result in temperature abuse of milk and aid the growth of bacteria. Klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the predominant bacteria present in milk that can cause foodborne diseases. The main objective of this study was to determine the adaptation and survival curves of K. pneumoniae ATCC 13883 shifted from 37°C to various stress temperatures in fresh raw coconut milk, pasteurised cow's milk, and Ultra-High Temperature (UHT) coconut milk. Methods: The first part of the study was aimed to determine the microbiological quality of milks and constitutes using Tryptone Soy Agar (TSA) and Eosin Methylene Blue (EMB) Agar. Secondly, the growth curve for K. pneumonia at 37°C in Tryptone Soy Broth (TSB) was established. In the third part of study, a stationary phase culture of K. pneumoniae was grown in TSB for 24 hours before shifting to coconut milk, pasteurised cow milk and UHT milk at different temperatures: 7°C, 27°C, 55°C and 65°C. Results: K. pneumoniae shifted from 37°C to 7°C showed bacteriostatic effects, while shifting K. pneumoniae from 37°C to at 27°C did not affect the growth potential in any of the samples. By contrast, K. pneumoniae shifted to 55°C only exhibited thermotolerance in fresh raw coconut milk, while survival curves of K. pneumoniae exhibited straight-line death kinetics when shifted to 65°C in all kinds of milk. Conclusion: The growth and survival of K. pneumoniae depend on the temperature stress conditions and types of media used. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Introduction: Intercostal nerve transfer is a surgical technique used to restore function in patients with total brachial plexus injury. Stem cell and secretome therapy has been explored as a potential treatment for brachial plexus injuries. This study aimed to compare the functional and histologic outcome of intercostal nerve transfer to median nerve with local stem cells or secretome injection in total type brachial plexus injuries., Materials and Methods: This was a double-blinded, randomized controlled study (RCT). We included patients with neglected total type brachial plexus injury (BPI) who underwent nerve transfer and local injection of either umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSC) or secretome into median nerve-flexor digitorum superficialis (FDS) neuromuscular junction (NMJ). We measured preoperative and 8-month postoperative FDS muscle strength, SF-36, DASH score, and histologic assessment. We then analyzed the difference outcome between those two groups., Result: A total of 15 patients were included in this study. Our study found that after nerve transfer and implantation with either UC-MSC or secretome, significant postoperative improvements were observed in physical functioning, role limitations, energy/fatigue, emotional well-being, social functioning, pain, general health, and DASH scores, particularly in the overall cohort and the secretome group. When we compared the mean difference of clinical outcome from preoperative to postoperative between UC-MSC and secretome groups, the UC-MSC group showed better improvement of health change in SF-36 subgroup compared to secretome group. From the analysis, there was no significant difference in the histologic outcomes (inflammation, regeneration, and fibrosis) in overall cohort between preoperative and postoperative cohort. There was also no significant difference in mean change of the histologic outcomes (inflammation, regeneration, and fibrosis) preoperative and postoperatively between UC-MSC and secretome groups., Discussion and Conclusion: Implantation of either UC-MSC or secretome along with nerve transfer may provide clinical improvement, while to achieve histologic improvement, further conditioning should be performed., (© 2024. - Abstract
Objectives: Brachial plexus injuries (BPI), although rare, often results in significant morbidity. Stem cell was thought to be one of BPI treatment modalities because of their nerve-forming regeneration potential. Although there is a possibility for the use of mesenchymal stem cells as one of BPI treatment, it is still limited on animal studies. Therefore, this systematic review aimed to analyze the role of mesenchymal stem cells in nerve regeneration in animal models of brachial plexus injury., Method: This study is a systematic review with PROSPERO registration number CRD4202128321. Literature searching was conducted using keywords experimental, animal, brachial plexus injury, mesenchymal stem cell implantation, clinical outcomes, electrophysiological outcomes, and histologic outcomes. Searches were performed in the PubMed, Scopus, and ScienceDirect databases. The risk of bias was assessed using SYRCLE's risk of bias tool for animal studies. The data obtained were described and in-depth analysis was performed., Result: Four studies were included in this study involving 183 animals from different species those are rats and rabbits. There was an increase in muscle weight and shortened initial onset time of muscle contraction in the group treated with stem cells. Electrophysiological results showed that mesenchymal stem cells exhibited higher (Compound muscle action potential) CMAP amplitude and shorter CMAP latency than control but not better than autograft. Histological outcomes showed an increase in axon density, axon number, and the formation of connections between nerve cells and target muscles., Conclusion: Mesenchymal stem cell implantation to animals with brachial plexus injury showed its ability to regenerate nerve cells as evidenced by clinical, electrophysiological, and histopathological results. However, this systematic study involved experimental animals from various species so that the results cannot be uniformed, and conclusion should be drawn cautiously., Competing Interests: None, (2024 © BY THE ARCHIVES OF BONE AND JOINT SURGERY.)

- Abstract
Customer reviews are valuable resources containing customer opinions and sentiments toward the product. The reviews are informative but can be quite lengthy or may contain repetitive information calling for opinion summarization systems that retain only the significant opinion information from the review. Abstractive summarization is a form of text summarization that generates a summary mimicking a human-written summary [1]. When pretrained language models are finetuned for abstractive review summarization, there usually occurs a problem known as the 'domain shift', because the source and target domains exhibit data from varying distributions [2]. This issue results in performance degradation of the model at the target end. This paper contributes a data package comprising of an annotated abstractive summarization dataset (annotated_abs_summ) of airline reviews having 500 reviews and abstractive summary pairs, a dataset (review_titles_data) consisting of 7079 reviews and review title pairs for review title generatioon or domain adaptive training [3] to address the domain shift problem for abstractive opinion summarization and, an annotated reviews dataset (annotated_sentiment) for rating-based sentiment classification. All datasets have been collected from the Skytrax Review Portal via web scraping using Python programming language. The datasets have several potential use cases. The abstractive summarization dataset can serve as a benchmark dataset for airline review summarization. The dataset for domain adaptive training can be used as a standalone dataset for review title generation. The dataset for sentiment analysis is multipurpose having columns like user rating and recommendation value, that can be used for statistical analysis like finding correlation between these data items as well as for other Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks like predicting rating or recommendation value from the customer reviews. The datasets can be extended using various data augmentation techniques [4,5]. Moreover, the datasets are related and can be collectively used to develop a multi-task learning model [6] for better learning efficiency and improved performance., Competing Interests: The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper., (© 2023 The Author(s).)

- Abstract
Introduction and Importance: Post-traumatic osteomyelitis in patients with an open fracture is one of the most common causes of a bone defect after an extensive debridement and one of the most challenging complications to treat. Removal of devitalized and infected tissue may result in a large defect that requires subsequent reconstruction., Case Presentation: Two patients that underwent tibialization were included in this study. The first patient is a 32-year-old male with an infected non-union of the left shaft tibia and the second patient is a 10-year-old boy with a gap non-union of the right shaft tibia due to open fracture with bone loss. Both patients resulted in proximal and distal bone union and full weight bearing on the affected leg without limitation and pain. Nine months Follow up for the first patient show the proximal and distal bone union and an addition to the width of the fibular graft in X-ray examination showing promising results. For the second patient, follow-up 12 months after surgery shows a complete union of the proximal and distal bone union., Clinical Discussion: Debridement would lead to soft tissue loss, which usually results in large injury defects. Tibialization of the fibula, also known as fibula pro tibia grafting, is one of the known reconstruction methods in treating patients with segmental defects in the tibia., Conclusion: Critical bone defects remain one of the most challenging orthopaedic conditions to treat. Tibialization is an excellent option with an acceptable functional outcome to treat critical bone defects., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest The authors declare that they have no relevant financial or non-financial interests to report., (Copyright © 2023 The Author(s). - Abstract
This study examines the influence of export promotion programs (EPPs) in Indonesia on companies' resources, capabilities, strategies, and competitiveness, and whether such programs positively impact export performance and finances. Using data from 204 exporting companies in Indonesia and the structural equation model for analysis, this study finds that participation in EPPs reinforces the organizational resources and exporting capabilities needed for developing successful export strategies. This allows for the creation of competitive advantages in export costs, product superiority, and effective distribution, which in turn increases performance in terms of market share and finance. The results also indicate that the effect of EPPs is relatively more significant on small companies and those with more export experience. They confirm that EPPs have the most significant impact on firms' resources and capabilities, and that assistance programs that aim to improve organizational capabilities are needed to enhance marketing strategies. While innovative capabilities and business intelligence offer great potential to support export performance, EPP-type assistance programs have not been adequately developed in Indonesia., Competing Interests: The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper., (© 2023 The Authors.)

- Abstract
Introduction: Recent studies showed increasing evidences of anterolateral ligament (ALL) reconstruction in conjunction with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction that proves to be more superior to the previous double-bundle (DB) ACLR technique especially in improving knee stability in biomechanic studies. However to date, there have been no studies evaluating the functional outcome of DB-ACLR vs single-bundle (SB) with ALL in ACLR., Methods: A total of 138 patients with ACL deficient knee were enrolled to the study. Double-bundle ACL reconstruction (DB-ACLR) was performed in 75 patients and single-bundle ACL reconstruction with anterolateral ligament reconstruction (SB + ALL) ACLR was performed in 63 patients. Surgical outcomes were compared with The International Knee Documentation Committee Subjective Knee Form (IKDC) and the Kujala score at the 3rd, 6th and 9th month post-operative., Results: The IKDC score in the 3rd and 6th month was superior in the SB + ALL group compared to the DB group. However, this difference was not statistically significant. In the meantime, there were no statistically significant difference between the Kujala Score at the 3rd, 6th, and 9th months consecutively. There were no statistically significant differences in the functional outcomes of DB-ACLR and SB + ALL groups at the 3rd, 6th, and 9th months post-operative period., Conclusion: The functional outcome comparison showed non-superiority of SB + ALL group compared to the DB-ACLR group. The patellar pain was less found in DB-ACLR group at 6- and 9-months post-operative period., (© 2022. The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag France SAS, part of Springer Nature.)

- Abstract
This study evaluated the effects of milk fermented with Pediococcus acidilactici strain BE and Pediococcus pentosaceus strain M103 on diabetes in rats ( Rattus norvegicus ). The bacteria were separately used as starter cultures for milk fermentation, and the products were then fed to diabetic rats for 15 days. Blood glucose levels, immunohistochemical and histological indicators, lipid profiles, and total lactic acid bacterium counts were evaluated before and after treatment. The administration of milk fermented with P. acidilactici strain BE reduced blood glucose levels from 410.27±51.60 to 304.07±9.88 mg/dL (p<0.05), similar to the effects of metformin (from 382.30±13.39 mg/dL to 253.33±40.66 mg/dL, p<0.05). Increased insulin production was observed in diabetic rats fed milk fermented with P. acidilactici strain BE concomitant with an increased number and percentage area of immunoreactive beta-cells. The structure of insulin-producing beta-cells was improved in diabetic rats fed milk fermented with P. acidilactici strain BE or metformin (insulin receptor substrate scores of 5.33±0.94 and 3.5±0.5, respectively). This suggests that the administration of milk fermented with P. acidilactici BE potentially reduces blood glucose levels and improves pancreatic beta-cell function in diabetic rats., Competing Interests: The authors declare no potential conflicts of interest., (© Korean Society for Food Science of Animal Resources.)

- Abstract
Background and Aim: Subclinical mastitis (SCM) in Etawah-grade (PE) goats in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, is commonly due to Staphylococcus aureus . At present, S. aureus from SCM in PE goats in Yogyakarta has not been characterized. Therefore, this study aimed to phenotypically characterize S. aureus , which has been isolated from SCM of PE goats., Materials and Methods: A total of 314 lactating PE goats were collected from 60 PE goat farms (e.g., Sleman, Bantul, and Kulonprogo) located in parts of Yogyakarta with an average age of 3-4 years old, three of which showed SCM based on the California mastitis test (CMT). Subclinical mastitis is confirmed in PE goats if CMT shows ++ or +++. Furthermore, S. aureus was detected by biochemical assays. Staphylococcus aureus could determine hemolysin (Hae), coagulase (Coa), clumping factor (Cf), and antibiotic susceptibility. Hemolytic bacteria were detected by culturing on blood agar plate, and Cf was detected by slide agglutination. The production of Coa was detected by tube coagulation. Staphylococcus aureus susceptibility was determined by antimicrobial agar diffusion using a paper disc., Results: Phenotypically characterized S. aureus from PE goats with SCM in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, Coa-, Cf-, and Hae- were found to be resistant to erythromycin (ERYTHRO), ampicillin (AMP), penicillin (PEN-G), and sulfamethoxazole (SULFA)., Conclusion: The phenotypic characteristic of S. aureus , which was obtained from SCM in PE goats in Yogyakarta, consists of Coa, and Cf-. S. aureus cannot perform hemolysis of red blood cells. This phenotypic characteristic can prevent and control SCM in PE goats. Several antibiotics such as ERYTHRO, AMP, PEN-G, and SULFA were no longer effective for treating SCM in PE goats because S. aureus has developed its resistance to these antibiotics., Competing Interests: The authors declare that they have no competing interests., (Copyright: © Suwito, et al.)

- Abstract
Fragile X syndrome (FXS) is caused by the full mutation in the fragile x messenger ribonucleoprotein 1 ( FMR1 ) gene leading to the absence of the fragile X protein (FXP). Previous studies show that individuals with FXS exhibit changing behavior over time; therefore, this study aimed to elucidate the aberrant behavior profile of FXS individuals. The Aberrant Behavior Checklist-Community (ABC-C) was used to measure the aberrant behavior profile of individuals with FXS, which was rated by the parent/caregiver combined with clinical impression. A total of 58 items were used to assess aberrant behaviors across five subscales. Forty-nine individuals with FXS were included (32 males, 17 females) with a mean age of 32.9 ± 14.62 years in males and 33.4 ± 13.98 years in females. The average score of irritability and hyperactivity was significantly higher in male FXS individuals (5.37 ± 6.231 and 10.28 ± 8.524) than in female individuals (3.24 ± 7.093 and 3.76 ± 3.327) with p = 0.046 and p = 0.001, respectively. Overall irritability in FXS individuals significantly decreased over time ( ß = -0.141; p = 0.032). A modest worsening in lethargy/social withdrawal in males across age and a gentle improvement in hyperactivity/noncompliance in male of FXS individuals were observed. FXS males had higher hyperactivity problems than FXS female individuals across age., Competing Interests: The authors have no conflicts of interest to disclose., (2022, International Research and Cooperation Association for Bio & Socio - Sciences Advancement.)

- Abstract
The purpose of this study was to eliminate phosphate (P) from wastewater using MnFe2O4 nanoparticles. BET, TGA/DTG, FTIR, SEM, TEM, VSM, XRD and EDX/Map analyses were used to determine the MnFe2O4 surface properties. The specific surface area of the adsorbent was 196.56 m2/g and VSM analysis showed that the adsorbent has a ferromagnetic property. The maximum P sorption efficiency using MnFe2O4 (98.52%) was achieved at pH 6, temperature of 55 °C, P concentration of 10 mg/L, time of 60 min, and sorbent dosage of 2.5 g/L, which is a significant value. Also, the thermodynamic study indicated that the P sorption process is spontaneous and endothermic. Moreover, the utmost sorption capacity of P using MnFe2O4 was 39.48 mg/g. Besides, MnFe2O4 can be used for up to 6 reuse cycles with high sorption efficiency (>91%). Also, MnFe2O4 was able to remove phosphate, COD, and BOD5 from municipal wastewater with considerable removal efficiencies of 82.7%, 75.8%, and 77.3%, respectively.

- Abstract
Teachers' professional competence has become a popular issue since the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, this study investigates teachers' professional competence, in terms of emotional intelligence (EI), adversity quotient (AQ), and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), when teachers need to deal with abnormal situations, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, this study also seeks to explore the relationship of EI and AQ with teachers' professional competence mediated by OCB. The research data were collected through a questionnaire using a Likert scale from 589 participants: elementary school teachers in Indonesia were chosen through accidental sampling. The data analysis used structural equation modeling (SEM), complemented by common method bias, correlational, and descriptive analysis. The result shows that EI, AQ, and OCB have a significant relationship with teachers' professional competence. However, AQ more strongly promotes teachers' OCB and professional competence than EI does. In addition, OCB mediates the relationship between EI and AQ with teachers' professional competence. Accordingly, a new model regarding the relationship of EI and AQ with teachers' professional competence mediated by OCB was confirmed. Therefore, it is suggested that teachers' professional competence can increase through EI, AQ, and OCB. Hence, the new empirical model deserves to be discussed, adapted, and even adopted by practitioners and researchers to develop the professional competence of teachers in the future.

- Abstract
Introduction and Importance: The trend in cycling nowadays affects all age groups. However, special precautions must be considered in the elderly group. Minor trauma to the cervical region can cause severe neurological deterioration, leading to fatality because of the pre-existing degenerative process., Case Presentation: We present a case of a 61-year-old male recreational cyclist with acute onset of tetraplegia following a minor fall. The radiological result revealed a long-standing degenerative process. Unfortunately, the patient deceased due to the sequelae of the paralysis and cardiac event despite our prompt surgical decompression and the improvement shown on intraoperative neuromonitoring., Clinical Discussion: The degenerative process can aggravate cervical cord injury even in its mildest form of injury. In this study, immediate improvement was detected by the intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) - although the clinical improvement had not improved yet as the general condition is poor., Conclusion: The elder cycling population is increasing. Safety measures and injury avoidance are advisable along with expert consultation before the exercise. In a pre-existing degenerative condition of the cervical, a special precaution is also needed during the exercise. If the surgery has been indicated, the use of intraoperative neuromonitoring is found to be useful to guide the decompression and potentially beneficial as a predictive value for the clinal outcome., (Copyright © 2022 The Authors. - Abstract
This study evaluated the ability of two strains of bacterial starter cultures, Lactobacillus casei AP (AP) and Lactobacillus casei AG (AG), to produce exopolysaccharides (EPSs). First, the physicochemical properties of the fermented milk produced by AP and AG were assessed, including physical qualities like viscosity and syneresis and chemical qualities, such as pH, acidity, protein, lactose, fat content, and total solid. Then, AP and AG's ability to produce EPS was measured. Additionally, the EPS' microstructure was observed using a scanning electron microscope, and its chemical structure was assessed using Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. Also, AP and AG's ability to produce EPS was tracked at the molecular level by studying the glycosyltransferase ( gtf ) gene. Statistical analysis showed that the milk fermented using AP and AG had similar physicochemical qualities (P > 0.05) but significantly different physical qualities (P < 0.05). Additionally, the milk fermented with AP had lower viscosity (1137.33 ± 34.31 centiPoise) than AG (1221.50 ± 20.66 centiPoise). In addition, the milk fermented using AP had higher syneresis (19.42%) than AG (17.83%). The higher viscosity and lower syneresis in the milk fermented using AG were associated with AG's ability to produce more EPS (1409 mg/L) than AP (1204 mg/L). In addition, according to the FT-IR analysis, the AP- and AG-synthesized EPS contained absorption bands at 3323, 2980, 2901, 1642, 1084, 1043, and 873 cm
-1 . The absorption band at 1642 and 2980 cm-1 corresponds to carbonyl and methylene groups, respectively. Absorption band 873 cm-1 is characteristic of the α-glycosidic bond of α-glucan in EPS. Moreover, the absorption bands on the wavelength region corresponding to the functional groups in the AP- and AG-produced EPS were similar to those in commercially available EPS. Lastly, gtf , contributing to EPS synthesis, was found in the genomes of AP and AG, suggesting the role of glycosyltransferase in the EPS synthesis by both strains., Competing Interests: Conflict of interest: The author declares no conflicts of interest., (© 2022 the Author(s), licensee AIMS Press.)- Published

- Abstract
Cultural intelligence is an individual's ability to recognize, understand, and adapt to cross-cultural contexts in order to change his or her self-capacity. Hence, this study explores the relationship between cultural intelligence and interpersonal communication, psychological capital (PsyCap), and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) among teachers in Indonesia and investigates the possibility of finding relevant new models. A Likert questionnaire was used to collect research data. The research participants included 450 Indonesian junior high school teachers selected by accidental sampling. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used for data analysis, supported by descriptive statistics and correlational matrices. The results indicate that cultural intelligence is significantly related to teachers' interpersonal communication, PsyCap, and OCB. Additionally, this study also produces a new model regarding the relationship between cultural intelligence and a teacher's OCB, mediated by interpersonal communication and PsyCap. Therefore, researchers and practitioners can discuss and adopt a new empirical model to increase cultural intelligence.

Background: This study aimed to identify the major ocular abnormality findings (i.e., cataract and conjunctival and corneal calcification (CCC)) among hemodialysis (HD) patients and their risk factors., Methods: A single institute-based cross-sectional study in Indonesia. Demographic data, medical histories, and complete ocular examinations were collected. For two major ocular abnormalities found, a generalized estimating equation was incorporated in a logistic regression model to assess the relationship with their risk factors., Results: We analyzed 318 eyes (159 individuals), of which 54.7% male and 45.3% female. The mean age was 51.6±11.3 years. The mean HD period was 3.5±3.2 years. Hypertension and diabetes mellitus (DM) was found in 81.1% and 34.6%, respectively. The major ocular abnormalities found were cataract (206 eyes; 64.78% (95% CI 59.53-70.03)), followed by CCC (135 eyes; 42.45% (95 % CI 37.02-47.88)). In a multivariate model, higher education (odds ratio (OR) 0.17; 95% CI 0.04-0.74), hypertension (OR 0.15; 95% CI 0.03-0.79), DM (OR 10.49; 95% CI 1.57-70.06), Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP) 120-129 mmHg (OR 0.05; 95% CI 0.003-0.69), SBP >140 mmHg (OR 0.05; 95% CI 0.004-0.67), Diastolic Blood Pressure (DBP) 80-89 mmHg (OR 7.44; 95% CI 1.13-48.73), and DBP >90 mmHg (OR 48.47; 95% CI 3.4-692.03) showed significant association with cataract. Meanwhile, there was no significant association between CCC and any predictor., Conclusion: Cataract and CCC were found to be the major ocular abnormalities among HD patients in this study, with DM and higher DBP as the risk factors for cataract. This finding supports recommendations for integrated regular eye screening in HD patients.

Background and Objectives: Dietary supplementation for haemodialyzed (HD) patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and its benefits for the anthropometric profiles remain contentious. This study analysed changes in the albumin levels and anthropometric profiles of HD patients within 3 months of nutritional therapy., Methods and Study Design: Sixty-three malnourished HD patients (Subjective Global Assessment nutrition status B or C) were enrolled. Twenty patients received counselling, 17 patients received oral therapy, 26 patients received intradialytic parenteral nutrition (IDPN), and were evaluated at month 0, month 1, and month 3. Five patients withdrew before completing the trial. The patients' albumin levels and anthropometric profiles (biceps and triceps skinfold thickness, upper arm circumference, body weight, and body mass index) were analysed before and after treatment. We performed multivariate analysis to determine the effect of each treatment on serum albumin and anthropometric profiles., Results: At months 1 and 3, nutritional therapy was associated with different mean serum albumin level among three nutritional intervention groups (p<0.05). Significant increases in serum albumin, upper arm circumference, and triceps and biceps skinfold thickness were identified in the counselling and IDPN groups. Multivariate linear regression revealed significant differences between oral and nonoral groups in albumin and biceps and triceps skinfold thickness at months 1 and 3. These variables were affected by age and duration of haemodialysis (p<0.05)., Conclusions: Nutritional therapy for malnourished CKD patients receiving HD ameliorated serum albumin and their anthropometric profiles within 3 months.
