N ̶ Benzylidene ̶ 4 ̶ Methoxyaniline (NB4MA) schiff base was synthesized and investigated corrosion behavior of mild steel (MS) in 1M HCI and 0.5M H2SO4. The corrosion efficiency studied by means of mass loss and electrochemical techniques. The electrochemical studies confirm that Ecorr displacement about 32mV confirms anodic and cathodic type of inhibitor. The positive direction of corrosion potential curves confirmed that adsorption efficiency on metal surface. Langmuir adsorption isotherm was observed. Electrochemical impedance studies (EIS) exposed that inhibition effectiveness enlarged with even increasing concentration of Schiff base and found inhibition capacity 90 – 95%. Furthermore, thermodynamic parameters of adsorption were found which elaborates that increasing ΔG0ads parameter since favorable interaction behavior between mild steel and inhibitor causes efficient adsorption. The morphology studies revealed that synthesized Schiff base has strong affinity to adhere on mild steel and improve corrosion efficiency against acidic media. The quantum chemical parameter also confirmed that electrons distribution and efficiency of Schiff base.

Background: This study was conducted to establish the certain reproductive parameters of Chippiparai bitches, which are indigenous dog breed of Southern Tamil Nadu in India to augment the fertility of Chippiparai bitches using vaginal exfoliative cytology and progesterone assay as diagnostic tools. Methods: The data was collected by a questionnaire from (105 female dogs) pet owners to understand the breeding practices and the reproductive performance of Chippiparai breed. On the basis of Vaginal Exfoliative Cytology (VEC) (n=100) and combination of VEC with progesterone assay (n=12) the optimum time of breeding, ovulation, conception rate and litter size were estimated. Result: Management and reproductive performance of Chippiparai female was recorded as other medium sized hound breeds. This study established the stages of estrous cycle in Chippiparai bitches on the basis of vaginal cytology and combination of VEC with progesterone estimation improved the conception rate and litter size and also helped in identification of the fertile period in Chippiparai bitches.

Background: The principal cause of caprine enterotoxaemia is Clostridium perfringens type D which is normally resident in digestive tract and soil in fairly low numbers. Overeating of carbohydrate rich diet or sudden change in diet leads to proliferation of the bacteria and release of lethal toxins in intestine of the host. It causes sudden death in affected ruminants of different ages, though lambs of 3 to 10 weeks of age are highly susceptible. It causes sever enterocolitis with or without haemorrhagic diarrhoea and encephalitis resulting in acute nervous signs with a fatal outcome. Methods: Thirty goats of different breeds under 1-4 years age and both sex were presented to Veterinary Clinical Complex, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Tirunelveli with the neurological signs and diarrhoea were the subject of study. Faecal samples were collected from all these cases and tested on spot by immunochromatographic test kit to identify the Clostridium perfringens Epsilon toxin (ETX). Blood and serum samples were collected and subjected haemato-biochemical analysis. Peripheral blood smears were also collected to rule out haemoprotozoan infections in all the cases. Result: Epsilon toxin was detected from faecal samples of 36.6 per cent of the goats. Diarrhoea was the most consistent finding which is due to enterocolitis in acute cases. A significant increase (P less than 0.001) in the neutrophils and leukocytes count and a significant increase (P less than 0.05) in the levels of BUN, creatinine, glucose, ALP and chloride levels were observed. All the cases were treated with sulphadimidine at recommended dose with supportive therapy but no response was reported due to the fatal encephalitis.
