A study was conducted in a peri-urban community near Chandigarh, India, to assess the prevalence of skin disorders. The study found that fungal infections were the most common diagnosed skin disease, followed by psoriasis, urticaria, atopic dermatitis, and vitiligo. Allergies and itching were the most common self-reported skin complaints. The study also revealed that a significant number of participants were not seeking medical treatment for their skin problems. Background: To assess the effectiveness of educational intervention to reduce the weight of school bags. Material and Methods: The study design was one group pre- and posttest experimental Research design. Place and Duration of Study: Government Senior Secondary School Dhanas, Chandigarh, and Shri Guru Harkrishan Model Senior Secondary School Sector-38D, Chandigarh (A private school) between July and November 2018. Names of the schools can be avoided. Total 760 students from selected sections nursery to 10th class of school were enrolled in the study. At baseline and end line weight of children, school bags and its content were weighed using weighing scale. Length of bag strap, breath of bag, torso of children, and their shoulders size were measured by measuring tape. Bag carrying style, posture, etc., were observed by observation checklist. Interviewed children (5th to 10th class) were using Nordic musculoskeletal questionnaire for musculoskeletal system assessment. Educational intervention was provided to the children for one month to reduce weight of school bag by teaching in assembly and displaying the charts in school. (Use of softbound thin textbooks, breaking thin books in 2-3 thin softbound books, use lightweight bag, pencil box, lunch box, and water bottles. Pack bag as per timetable.) Result: The result revealed that heavy school bags were carrying 69.7% children from government school and 80.2% from private school. Children carrying heavy bags reported musculoskeletal problems 5 times higher than their counterparts. After intervention, there was significant reduction in the weight of school bags (P < 0.001 as per paired t-test). Provide the weight of the bags before and after intervention in addition to the P value. Conclusion: Children carrying heavy bags were suffering from musculoskeletal problems. Background: Nurse led noncommunicable diseases (NCD) clinic may address the significant shortage of human resource for health for managing common NCDs. The objective of this study is to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of nurse-led NCD clinic for identification, prevention, and management of common NCDs. Materials and Methods: A quasi experimental study was conducted at a Public Health Dispensary in periurban community of Northern India. Situational analysis and stakeholders' interview were done based on which the clinic was setup and run over a period of 2 months by registered nurses and nursing students to offer screening, health education and appropriate referral. The primary outcome of study was proportion of population screened, prevalence of common NCDs, risk factors modification, medication adherence, and patient satisfaction. Results: It was feasible to run a nurse led clinic in terms of availability of space, equipment to run the clinic and human resource. A total of 455 individuals aged ≥30 years were enrolled using the total enumeration sampling technique. There was a significant increase in screening rates from 0.29% to 3.7% in nurse-led NCD clinic. There was significant mean change in systolic blood pressure (18.75 ± 6.92 mm Hg), diastolic blood pressure (4.4 ± 3.71 mm Hg), random blood sugar (33.36 ± 38.49 mg/dl) Body Mass Index, and waist circumference (P < 0.01) among the population screened. Medication adherence significantly increased from 7.8% to 76.4% (P < 0.01) after 2 months of nurse-led NCD clinic. Conclusion: Task sharing for managing common NCDs in nurse-led NCD clinic was feasible and effective in increasing screening rates, medication adherence, and risk factors modification among studied population. Background: Adequate knowledge and favourable attitude are paramount for management of COVID-19 patients at home. Objectives: To assess the knowledge and attitude of community participants towards home care of COVID-19 patients. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional online survey was undertaken. Snowball sampling technique was used to enrol the individuals aged 18 years and above. An online questionnaire was developed on Google Forms and its link was circulated at various social media platforms. Data was collected from 352 individuals. Results: A total of 352 participants took part in the survey. The average knowledge score of the participants was 16.2 (SD = 1.9, range 10-20). Nearly two-thirds (63.9%) of the participants had more accurate knowledge and 60.8% of the participants had more positive attitude towards home care of COVID-19 patients. Conclusion: The study highlights the importance of more intensive, tailored education programmes to enhance knowledge and develop more favourable attitude towards home care of COVID-19 patients. Background: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) cause significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. Task shifting in various forms has been adopted extensively around the world in an effort to increase access to CVD risk assessment for early identification of high-risk individuals. Present study explored the feasibility of task shifting of CVD risk assessment by anganwadi workers (AWWs). Method: An operational study was carried out with the objective to develop the knowledge and skill of AWWs in CVD risk assessment. The study was carried out in the anganwadi centres of Northern India. A total of 40 AWWs were enrolled by using purposive sampling technique. They were trained in CVD risk assessment till they fully developed the skill. These trained AWW carried out CVD risk assessment among subjects aged ≥40 years. Cohen Kappa was used to determine the reliability of risk assessment by AWWs. Communication skills of AWWs were measured by using a standardized communication checklist. Result: Result revealed high interrater reliability of risk scores generated by AWWs and researcher (k = 0.91). Majority of the AWWs (87%) demonstrated good communication skills. Conclusion: Study concludes that AWWs can be trained in CVD risk assessment using WHO/ISH risk prediction charts. Background & objectives: The safety of the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine is a cause of concern for many who have been vaccinated. The people have multiple concerns and fear regarding the adverse events of the vaccine. Thus, this study was undertaken to establish the safety profile of ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 Corona Virus Vaccine (Recombinant) among the healthcare professionals. Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional survey. After taking clearance from the institutional ethics committee 1500 healthcare professionals, who had their vaccination in the past two weeks were selected. They were provided with an online survey proforma regarding adverse events following immunization (AEFIs) of COVID-19 vaccine developed using google forms with an informed consent form affixed to it. Results: A total of 1036 individuals participated in the study. The mean and median (inter quartile range) age of the participants was 37.7 ±11.25 and 35 (29-46) yr, respectively. Of these, 52.1 per cent were female, 29.3 per cent were doctors, 33.4 per cent were nurses and 9.5 per cent were paramedical staff. Forty six per cent participants experienced one or more minor AEFIs such as pain, tenderness, redness, etc. at the injection site. Fatigue (31.75%), generalized feeling of unwell (28.57%), muscle pain (23.16%) and fever (21.71%) were the most commonly reported systemic AEFIs followed by headache (20.07%), dizziness (10.03%) and joint pains (15.25%). Most of them experienced these AEFIs within 24 h of the first dose of administration. About 42 per cent of the participants took oral antipyretics/analgesics for managing the AEFIs. Interpretation & conclusions: ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 Corona Virus Vaccine was found to be associated with mild local and systemic AEFIs that were more common after the first dose as compared to the second dose.
