40. Synergistically self-assembled in situ growth of MXene@MOF derived sodium alginate hydrogel 3D frameworks as next-generation electrocatalysts for oxygen and hydrogen evolution.

Abstract

The need to minimize carbon emissions and improve sustainable energy systems has stimulated significant research into multifunctional materials. This work presents a unique MXene@MOF and sodium alginate hydrogel composite as an electrocatalyst in energy storage and conversion. The Max-phase titanium niobium aluminum carbide (TiNbAlC) was etched to remove Al layers, producing MXene (TiNbCTx). The MXene nanosheets were dispersed in methanol, ultrasonicated, and mixed with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). Subsequently, Zn(NO3)2·6H2O and Co(NO3)2·6H2O were added, followed by 2-methylimidazole, and stirred for 2 h. After 4 h, centrifugation, washing, and freeze-drying produced TiNbC@MOF. This composite was further incorporated into a sodium alginate hydrogel to construct TiNbC/MOF@SA-H. Besides, the characterization included SEM, EDX, XRD, FTIR, AFM, TGA, and XPS analysis. The performance of the electrocatalyst was assessed for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in an alkaline medium (1 M KOH). TiNbC/MOF@SA-H demonstrated excellent capacitance, high rate capability, and stability over 1000 cycles. TiNbC/MOF@SA-H demonstrates enhanced OER electrocatalytic performance relative to the reference IrO2 and the composite TiNbC/MOF, exhibiting low overpotentials of 185, 188 and 204 mV at current densities of 10, 20 and 50 mA cm−2, respectively. Additionally, it shows superior HER catalytic activity compared to other prepared samples, requiring only 17, 79 and 325 mV to achieve current densities of 10, 50 and 100 mA cm−2, respectively. The material achieved an OER Tafel slope of 84 mV dec−1 and a HER Tafel slope of 61.8 mV dec−1 at a 1 V s−1 scan rate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The integration of a two-dimensional (2D) transition metal carbide (MXene) with metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) presents a promising avenue for addressing the limitations of MXene materials in various applications. In this study, we report the fabrication of a novel photocatalyst by in situ-growth self-assembly, where Ti3C2Tx MXene serves as a substrate for immobilizing ZIF-8 MOFs. This composite, Ti3C2Tx@ZIF-8, is further modified with tannic acid (TA) and polyphenol compounds to create a cross-linked network, enhancing the heterogeneous interfaces crucial for efficient photocatalysis. Varying concentrations of tannic acid (10, 20, and 30 mg) were explored to optimize photocatalyst performance. Structural characterization confirms the successful synthesis of Ti3C2Tx@ZIF-8@TA composites, revealing their unique network topology. The prepared ZIF-8, Ti3C2Tx@TA, Ti3C2Tx/ZIF-8@TA10, Ti3C2Tx/ZIF-8@TA20 and Ti3C2Tx/ZIF-8@TA30 photocatalysts were characterized by various techniques (SEM, EDX, FTIR, XRD, TGA, DRS, and BET surface area measurements). Under visible light irradiation, the photocatalyst demonstrates remarkable degradation efficiencies, with RhB, Congo red and methyl orange dyes achieving approximate degradation rates of 87%, 85%, and 79%, respectively, within 60 minutes. Notably, the photocatalyst exhibits low energy consumption, affordability, non-toxicity, and environmental compatibility, underscoring its practical potential for wastewater treatment applications. 49. Dynamic contextual factors, individual agency and adoption of e-commerce in SMEs

Abstract

This article provides an explanation of how dynamic contextual factors and individual agency influence the adoption of electronic commerce (e-commerce) in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Pakistan. Eight multiple qualitative case studies were undertaken, involving 24 face-to-face semi-structured interviews and were thematically analysed using NVivo. This study found that the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) factors and additional extended micro-level (individual agency) factors strongly influenced the adoption of e-commerce practices by the managers of Pakistani SMEs. Managers need to address factors such as digital readiness, recruiting of skilled ICT expertise, reluctance of customers to switch their preference from traditional business selling methods to e-commerce, obtaining government and local institutional support, and recognizing the characteristics and individual agency of their owner-managers. On top of these factors, there is a strong need to improve the Information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure in order for manager to prepare for and to embrace the e-commerce practices in their respective companies. This article extends Tornatzky and Fleischer’s TOE framework by adding the micro-level context of individual agency. Additionally, this article proposes practical implications for policymakers, governments, and local business support agencies.

Abstract

Businesses are on a perpetual quest to increase purchase intention to increase product sales. Currently, this study is also an effort in a similar context where consumers’ perception of product assortment, internet of things, order fulfillment, green packaging, and green design are comprehended. Besides, the research entails understating the assistance given to the customers for product purchases, followed by the signaling effect of these factors on the brand’s shopping assistance. The impact of shopping assistance is empirically analyzed on purchase intention to grasp the phenomena. Data were gathered using an online survey form, and analysis was done using PLS-SEM. The empirical testing suggests that product assortment, internet of things, order fulfillment, green packaging, and green design on shopping assistance support purchase intention. The result also confirms meditation of shopping assistance in the proposed model.
