Abstract Student satisfaction is one of the factors that influence student motivation and learning process. The more satisfied students are, the higher their motivation to complete their studies and have a better learning process. This study aims to see the effect of lecturers' collaboration level, lecturers' technical ability, and lecturers' online participation in the online classroom on student satisfaction. The research was conducted on active students of the Communication Science Distance Education study program in 2018 with a total of 88 respondents. Data were obtained through a survey consisting of 40 questions. The data were processed with the PLS method using SmartPLS software. The results obtained are lecturer collaboration, lecturer technical ability, and lecturer online participation in online classrooms have a positive effect on student satisfaction, with lecturer technical ability being the most influential factor on student satisfaction. Mastery of technology and the use of various methods of lecturer participation in online classrooms are recommended approaches for lecturers to take. Semakin puas siswa, maka motivasi mereka semakin tinggi untuk menyelesaikan studi dan memiliki proses belajar yang lebih baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh dari tingkat Kolaborasi Dosen, Kemampuan Teknis Dosen, dan Partisipasi Daring Dosen pada online classroom terhadap Kepuasan Mahasiswa. Penelitian dilakukan pada mahasiswa aktif program studi Pendidikan Jarak Jauh Ilmu Komunikasi di tahun 2018 dengan total responden sebanyak 88 orang. Data diperoleh melalui survey yang terdiri dari 40 pertanyaan. Data diolah dengan metode PLS menggunakan perangkat lunak SmartPLS. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah Kolaborasi Dosen, Kemampuan Teknis Dosen, dan Partisipasi Daring Dosen pada ruang kelas daring berpengaruh positif terhadap Kepuasan Mahasiswa, dengan Kemampuan Teknis Dosen yang menjadi faktor paling berpengaruh terhadap kepuasan siswa. Penelitian ini terbatas pada satu program studi saja, dan terbatas pada siswa yang aktif di tahun 2018.

This research is aimed to (1) produce science subject-specific pedagogy based on discovery learning integrated volcanic eruption disaster consisting of syllabus, lesson plan, student worksheet, and handouts according to experts and learning practitioners, and (2) know the effectiveness of the influence of science subject-specific pedagogy based on discovery learning integrated volcanic eruption disaster to improve mastery concept and disaster preparedness in mitigation. This was a research and development (R&D). The research and development used a 4-D model which consists of four stages define, design, develop, and disseminate. The results of this research and development show that: (1) the Feasibility of science subject-specific pedagogy based on discovery learning integrated volcanic eruption disaster that has been developed, according to expert and learning practitioner assessments are in the category of very good, and (2) The influence of science subject-specific pedagogy based on discovery learning integrated with volcanic eruption disasters is effective to improve mastery concept and students' preparedness in disaster mitigation.

Oil palm (OP) plantations have replaced large areas of forest in the tropical landscape of Southeast Asia and are major emitters of greenhouse gases (GHGs). To move towards more environmentally friendly plantation management, a hopeful approach is to implement strategies to increase vegetation complexity. These options include relaxed management of understory vegetation to increase complexity in productive plantations, passive restoration of forest areas around rivers by leaving mature oil palm during replanting, and active forest restoration along river margins with planting of forest trees. These practices have the potential to deliver a range of benefits such as soil protection, reduced erosion and sedimentation in rivers, pest control and support for biodiversity, but little is known about their impact on greenhouse gas fluxes. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of improved understory growth management and the use of riparian forestry on GHG fluxes in OP plantations, making use of two long-term experiments (the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Function in Tropical Agriculture Understory Vegetation (BEFTA UV) Project; the Riparian Ecosystem Restoration in Tropical Agriculture (RERTA) Project) in Riau Province, Sumatra, Indonesia. We measured nitrous oxide (N2O), methane (CH4) and ecosystem respiration (CO2) from mature OP sites with different levels of understory vegetation and different riparian buffer restoration treatments using the static chamber method. We used linear mixed effects models to test for treatment effects, whilst accounting for soil moisture and experimental design factors (time and space). The understory vegetation treatments (normal, reduced and enhanced complexity of understory) had no effect on N2O and CH4 flux. Regarding differences in ecosystem respiration, effects attributable to the understory vegetation treatments were not strong. For the riparian restoration treatments, the fixed effects variables in the models explained little variation in the fluxes of all GHGs. Therefore, given the proven benefits of more complex understory vegetation for supporting biodiversity and healthy ecosystem functioning, plus the potential for restored riparian buffers to support biodiversity and services and to reduce GHG emissions over time, our findings reinforce the concept that these features bring environmental benefits in OP landscapes, with no measurable effects on GHG emissions.

This study aimed to determine the achievement of the mastery of science process skills of students who are trained in integrated learning disaster risk reduction efforts. This research is an experimental research design with one sample control group design. The sample in this study were 60 students of 7th grade student in SMP N 2 Cangkringan, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. SMP N 2 Cangkringan is located near Merapi Mountain areas. Science process skills data were obtained using a process skills observation sheet that was filled in by the observer. Data analysis was performed descriptively. The results shows that the scientific process skills profile of students who were trained together with the training of volcanic eruption disaster mitigation increased at each meeting. The most significant improvement was observing, followed by predicting skills, communicating skills, and drawing conclusions

Abstract The expansion of oil palm agriculture across Southeast Asia has caused significant biodiversity losses, with the reduction in habitat heterogeneity that accompanies the conversion of forest to oil palm being a major contributing factor. However, owing to their long commercial lifespan, oil palm plantations can support relatively high levels of vegetation complexity compared to annual crops. There is therefore potential for the implementation of management strategies to increase vegetation complexity and associated within‐plantation habitat heterogeneity, enhancing species richness and associated ecosystem functioning within productive oil palm landscapes. This study focusses on two species of asassin bugs Cosmolestes picticeps and Sycanus dichotomus, which are important agents of pest control within oil palm systems. Using a Before‐After Control‐Impact experimental manipulation in Sumatra, Indonesia, we tested the effect of three alternative herbicide spraying regimes and associated vegetation complexity treatments on assassin bug numbers. Our treatments encompass a range of current understory vegetation management practices used in oil palm plantations and include removing vegetation only in areas key to harvesting (“Normal”), removing all understory vegetation (“Reduced”), and allowing native vegetation to regrow naturally (“Enhanced”). We assessed both the long‐term (18 months) and short‐term (within 2 weeks) effects of our treatments following herbicide spraying. Pre‐treatment, we found high numbers of assassin bugs of both species in all plots. Long‐term post‐treatment, the abundance of both C. picticeps and S. dichotomus declined in reduced understory plots, although this decline was only significant for C. picticeps (98%). In contrast, there were no significant differences in the post‐treatment abundance of either species in the short‐term. These results suggest that the long‐term decline in assassin bug abundance was likely to be caused by loss of vegetation, rather than any immediate effects of the herbicide spraying. Our findings have clear management implications as they demonstrate that maintaining vegetation in oil palm understories can benefit an important pest control agent.

IntroductionThe cultivation of oil palm, from which palm oil, the world’s most widely traded vegetable oil, is processed, has had marked effects on ecosystems and native species across the tropics. While declines in biodiversity due to conversion to oil palm have been well recorded across plant and animal taxa, less work has been done to identify approaches to plantation management which will enable producers to satisfy growing global demand while limiting environmental damage.MethodsThrough a large-scale understory management experiment, we investigated the long- and short-term effects of varying vegetation management regimes on the abundance, richness, and diversity of day-flying Lepidoptera.ResultsOver the long-term, the lowest levels of vegetation complexity resulted in significantly lower Lepidoptera abundance, species richness and evenness. Less intensive understory clearing resulted in healthier communities, with limited differences between removal by herbicide application or chemical-free removal. Over the short-term, biodiversity was not directly affected by vegetation complexity, suggesting that manual removal of vegetation may be equally damaging to butterfly or moth communities as removal by intermediate levels of herbicide spraying.DiscussionThese findings substantiate calls to limit vegetation clearing and maintain habitat heterogeneity on both a local and landscape scale, while also suggesting that a hard “no-spray” guideline may not be the only option to support butterfly friendly plantations.

Pandemi Covid-19 membuat proses belajar mengajar harus dilakukan secara daring, sehingga dapat menimbulkan berbagai kendala yang mempengaruhi kinerja guru. Tiga faktor yang paling berpengaruh pada kinerja guru pada masa pandemi yaitu motivasi kerja, lingkungan kerja dan komunikasi pemimpin. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk memetakan hubungan ketiga faktor tersebut terhadap kinerja guru. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis jalur untuk melukiskan dan menguji model hubungan antar variabel. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuesioner dengan teknik pengambilan sampel yang didistribusikan kepada 174 guru pada 12 Sekolah Dasar di Tangerang. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji validitas momen produk Pearson, uji reliabilitas menggunakan Cronbach’s Alpha, uji normalitas data, uji regresi Teknik ANOVA untuk mengetahui pengaruh antar variabel, dan uji R-square untuk mengetahui pengaruh variabel independen dan dependen. Berdasarkan analisis data, dapat disimpulkan bahwa lingkungan kerja dan komunikasi pemimpin berpengaruh positif terhadap motivasi guru, dan lingkungan kerja, motivasi guru, dan komunikasi pemimpin berpengaruh positif terhadap kinerja guru.

The thermal expansion can lead to the high stress on the pipe. The problem can be overcome using expansion loops in a certain length depending on the material’s elastic modulus, diameter, the amount of expansion, and the pipe’s allowable stresses. Currently, there is no exact definition for the dimension of expansion loops design both for loop width (W) and loop footing height (H) sizes. In this study, expansion loops were investigated with using ratio of width and height (W/H) variations to understand pipe stress occurring on the expansion loops and the expansion loops’ safety factor. Relationship between non dimensional stress on the expansion loop pipe was studied numerically by finite element software on several working temperatures of 400oF, 500oF, 600oF, and 700oF. It can be found that stress occurring on the pipes increases as the increases of W/H of the expansion loops and results in a lower safety factor. The safety factor of the expansion loops pipe has a value of 1 when the ratio of loop width and loop footing height (W/H) value was 1.2 for a 16-inch diameter pipe. Stress occurring on the pipe increases with the increase of the working temperature. Expansion loops pipe designed for 400oF can still work well to handle thermal extension pipe occurring on 500oF.

The effectiveness of the occupational health and safety management system came under criticism for its inability to reduce work accidents effectively. Consequently, a new approach, the safety culture approach, emerged. One noteworthy development in safety culture research is the safety culture maturity model. This study briefly overviews recent progress in the safety culture maturity model. To assess the model's current status and development trends, a bibliometric analysis approach was employed, utilizing journal articles listed in Scopus and Pubmed.The maturity model for safety culture is an evolving area of research, primarily focused on the construction sector but progressively extending to diverse industrial domains beyond high-risk companies. The predominant research involves the development of maturity models, with only a limited portion dedicated to assessing the model's validity and reliability, exploring connections between maturity measurements, safety performance, and overall organizational effectiveness. The multitude of safety culture definitions influences the use of diverse dimensions in assessing work culture. Typically, a five-level maturity scale with various labels is employed in these studies.

Background: The integration of the Pancasila Student Profile (PSP) in physical education (PE) learning represents a significant endeavour to align educational practices with national values and aspirations. Through rigorous research and thoughtful implementation strategies, educators can harness the transformative potential of PE to cultivate socially responsible citizens who embody the spirit of Pancasila in their actions and interactions within the broader Indonesian society. Research Objectives: The aim of this research is to determine the level of integration of Pancasila student profiles in physical education learning in Bengkulu City. Methods: The quantitative research method was used to achieve this goal. The sample was 432 students whose taken randomly among the elementary school, middle school, and high school. The instrument in this research was a questionnaire. The data was analysed using the mean ideal and the deviation standard ideal. Finding/Results: The integration of the PSP in schools in the city of Bengkulu has four different categories. In the very high category, the frequency is 51; in the high category, the frequency is 301; in the moderate category, the frequency is 78; and in the low category, the frequency is 2. Conclusion: The Pancasila profile of students learning PE in Bengkulu City is well implemented. The novelty of integrating the PSP into PE learning lies in its unique approach to instilling national values and character education in the PE curriculum. This integration aims to encourage holistic student development by combining physical education learning with the values of God Almighty, independence, global diversity, cooperation, critical thinking, and creative thinking, which are the core of the Pancasila student profile.

This research explains the effect of learning capability to work experience and employee loyality: Moderation effect resilience to change. This research is survey research using to the technique of distributing questionnaires to the sample used in this research of 85 pouple, the hypothesis was tested using Partial Least Square with SmartPLS 4.0 Software. Variable measurement uses a Likert scale of 1 to 5. Thaat results of this study show that: (1) tihere is a significanti positiive influence of learning capabilitiy on work experience. (2) tihere is a significanti positiive influence of learning capability on employee loyality. (3) tihere is a significanti positiive influence of work experience in employee loyality. (4) tihere is a significanti influence of resilience to change on work experience. (5) tihere is a significanti positiive influence of resilience to change o employee loyality.(6) there is a insignificant negative influence of resilence to change on learning capability and work experience.(7) there is a insignificant negative effect of resilience to change on learning capability and employee loyality.

Study purpose. Student-athletes have a role that is not easy to balance between the role of being an athlete and the role of being a student at school. Not a few of them have obstacles in balancing both roles. This study aims to reveal the characteristics of secondary school student-athletes in Bengkulu City. The main objectives are to describe the level of achievement motivation, study habits, self-discipline, academic support, and academic performance. Materials and methods. This study is a quantitative descriptive research with a survey approach involving 402 student-athletes at the junior high school and senior high school levels. The student-athletes represent 16 sports. The average age of student-athletes is 15.9 years. The instrument used in the study was a questionnaire consisting of 36 statement items. The mean ideal and standard deviation ideal formulas were used to analyze data regarding the category level of each indicator, while the independent sample t-test was used to determine differences in data between student-athletes based on gender and type of sport. Results. The results of this study reveal that student-athletes in Bengkulu City have achievement motivation, study habits, self-discipline, academic support, and academic performance in the high category. There is a significant difference between male and female student-athletes (sig 0.001 < 0.005). There were no significant differences between student-athletes from individual and team sports (0.442 > 0.005). Conclusions. Student-athletes at junior high school and senior high school education levels have good characteristics, there are significant differences between male and female athletes, and there are no significant differences between individual athletes and team athletes.

Students need to learn thoroughly on the writing, speaking and critical thinking skills in order to adapt with the development of technology and information. This study aims to analyze the differences between 2 classes that implemented 2 different means in learning Bahasa Indonesia for grade 5 students, between control class that use lecturing method and the experiment class that use Augmented Reality. The research subject were the fifth graders of XYZ school in Bintaro area. There were 28 students from control group and 27 students from the experiment group with a total of 55 students in all. This research period was conducted in 4 months from late January in 23 January 2024 to 10 May 2024. This study used a weak experimental design method with a static-group pretest-posttest design model. The research data was collected from the observation of the students performance during class discussion and project presentation which used a rubric that has been validated and is a reliable instrument. The result of the statistical analysis showed differences in the control class pretest and control class posttest, in the experimental class pretest and experimental class posttest, also the nGain result for both classes in writing, speaking and critical thinking skills. The average nGain for control class in writing, speaking and critical thinking skills respectively are; 0,17; 0,21; 0,26 While the average nGain for the experiment class in writing, speaking and critical thinking skills is 0,41; 0,31; 0,27 respectively. Based on the result, the ngain result for critical thinking skills in experiment class showed low result using 0,3 as the significance value. This result means the use of Augmented Reality was less effective in critical thinking skills but effective in writing and speaking skills. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Spermatogenic maturation arrest is thought to be caused by epigenetic defects, specifically in chromatin remodeling and histone modification. This study evaluated the status of chromatin remodeling chromodomain helicase DNA binding protein 5 (CHD5) and histone modifications histone 4 lys-12 acetylation (H4K12ac) and histone 3 lys-9 trimethylation (H3K9me3) in human testicular biopsies, based on maturation arrest type. Materials and Methods: The cross-sectional study utilized 18 Bouin-fixed paraffin-embedded (BFPE) specimens prepared from residual tissue from routine laboratory tests of infertile patients. The expression of CHD5, H4K12ac, and H3K9me3 was examined through immunohistochemistry (IHC). The intensity was measured using ImageJ with IHC Profiler and StarDist plugins. Statistical analysis was performed using Python with Scipy.Stats module. The data were tested with Shapiro-- Wilk for normality and Levene test for homogeneity. The differences in the intensity of spermatogenic cells were assessed using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests. A difference was considered statistically significant if P<0.05. Results: We found three types of maturation arrest, including Sertoli cell only (n=5), spermatocyte arrest (n=4), and spermatid arrest (n=9). CHD5 was positive in spermatogonia and round spermatids but absent in spermatocytes. The mean grey value (MGV) of CHD5 in spermatogonia was generally weak in spermatocyte arrest (157.4 ± 16.6) and spermatid arrest (155.3 ± 16.8), and there was no significant difference between them [P=0.49, 95% confidence interval (CI): (-4.3, 6), effect size (r): 0.02]. Although there was a significant difference in the expression of H3K9me3 and H4K12ac (P<0.001), both histone modifications were found in all observed spermatogenic cells. Conclusion: The expressions of CHD5, H3K9me3, and H4K12ac in different spermatogenic cell types produce similar results, indicating that they cannot be used as markers to determine the type of spermatogenic maturation arrest in humans. The significant finding in this research is the expression of CHD5 in human spermatogonia cells, which requires further study for elaboration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
