Abstract

Summary: As global protein demand surges, it is urgent to explore novel protein sources and develop advanced extraction technologies that can surpass the technological and scientific limitations of conventional methods. This systematic review summarises the emerging protein sources and sustainable protein extraction techniques, focusing on their role in enhancing food system sustainability. This article consolidates current research on novel extraction techniques, such as ultrasound‐assisted extraction, pulsed electric field‐based extraction, enzyme‐assisted extraction, subcritical water extraction and extraction using eutectic solvents, particularly from agro‐industrial by‐products. These methods assist in optimising protein recovery while aligning with circular economy principles by minimising waste and resource use. By evaluating the sustainability and practicality of these extraction methods, the article aims to guide future innovations and policy decisions, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and resilient global food system. 3. Correlation of body composition and aerobic capacity with heart rate variability in Indian elite soccer players

Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between Heart Rate Variability (HRV) indexes with body composition and aerobic capacity (VO2max) in Indian Elite soccer players. Methods: 115 male soccer players were recruited and all the subjects were measured for age: 16.8 ± 3.11; height: 167.85 ± 8.27; weight: 57.05 ± 10.66; BMI: 20.16 ± 3.02; body fat %, lean body mass and anthropometry profiling. The aerobic performance was measured using a 20-meter shuttle run test (20 MSRT) for VO2max. Heart Rate Variability (HRV) was recorded (RMSSD, pNN50%, LF, HF, LH/HF ratio) at a resting state (~5 minutes) using the Heartware Shimmer ECG device. The Pearson correlation coefficient for % BF and VO2max with heart rate variability was calculated. Abstract

Background: Soccer is characterized by long periods of low to moderate intensity activity interspersed with periods of high-intensity actions, such as single and repeated sprints. Therefore, a well-prepared soccer player must be able to endure long periods of low- to moderate intensity activity and sustain periods of explosive match effort intensification. Objective: To evaluate the effects of 6-weeks short interval running training and Small Sided Games on Heart Rate Variability measurements, aerobic capacity and performance in well trained Indian elite soccer players. Methods: A pretest – posttest experimental design was used in our study. 90 elite male soccer players was assigned into three groups by computer generated block randomization. Group I- Short Interval running Training (N-30), Group II- Small sided game Training (N-30) and Group III- Generic Training (control group, N-30). Autonomic control by HRV, vertical jump height, agility, 10m-30m sprint performance and VO2max by multistage fitness test was analysed. Result: Pre- intervention and post- intervention results was analysed and compared.
