With the boom of the app economy, users’ location information has become an increasingly valuable differentiator to deliver personalized products and services, yet continues to raise severe privacy concerns. While research on information privacy has paid great attention on explaining and predicting factors of information disclosure decisions, there is still a significant gap in terms of how app providers can combine different mechanisms in the design of their apps to effectuate better disclosure outcomes. Drawing on a randomized online experiment with 143 smartphone users, we analyze how pull (i.e., services with user-controlled position awareness) and push (i.e., demanding always-on access location tracking) information delivery and social proof cues separately and jointly affect users’ actual location information disclosure. The results reveal that both strategies increase actual location information disclosure via two distinct mediation paths. While pull information delivery mitigates users’ privacy concerns, social proof increases their trusting beliefs. However, when both strategies are employed together, we found that social proof overrides the effect of pull information delivery mechanisms.

With the ubiquity and prevalence of advanced technologies in society, transactions have become increasingly digital, requiring new user identity verification mechanisms. Electronic identification (eID) enables user identity authorization in online environments. Although eID plays a central role in government initiatives worldwide to digitalize citizen transactions, eID adoption remains surprisingly low. Drawing on digital nudging theory and e-government literature, we examine how eID adoption can be increased by changing the decision environment in which users choose eID. In a controlled experiment with 161 participants, we investigate the effect of default options (eID vs. offline ID as default) and popularity signals (presence vs. absence of social proof) on users’ eID adoption behavior. Both nudges increase eID adoption, but default options are a double-edged sword as they simultaneously fuel privacy concerns towards the government, attenuating the effect of default option on eID adoption. These concerns can be mitigated by adding social proof cues.

Unsafe explorations in the training phase hinder the practical deployment of reinforcement learning (RL) on autonomous robots. Some safe RL methods use safety constraints from prior or external knowledge to reduce or avoid unsafe explorations, but such knowledge is usually unavailable in practice, especially in unknown environments. In this work, we propose a few-shot reasoning-based safe reinforcement learning framework that includes a new few-shot learning method with dynamic support set to reason the safety of unexplored actions and hence guide safer action selection. Additionally, it endows robots with the capability of reverting to previous safe states and reflecting on failures to update the dynamic support set and further improve the accuracy of safety reasoning. Experimental results show that our new few-shot learning method is more accurate, and our proposed framework can significantly reduce the number of failures in the learning phase, especially for long-term autonomy.

Multi-Object tracking in real world environments is a tough problem, especially for cell morphogenesis with division. Most cell tracking methods are hard to achieve reliable mitosis detection, efficient inter-frame matching, and accurate state estimation simultaneously within a unified tracking framework. In this paper, we propose a novel unified framework that leverages a spatio-temporal ant colony evolutionary algorithm to track cells amidst mitosis under measurement uncertainty. Each Bernoulli ant colony representing a migrating cell is able to capture the occurrence of mitosis through the proposed Isolation Random Forest (IRF)-assisted temporal mitosis detection algorithm with the assumption that mitotic cells exhibit unique spatio-temporal features different from non-mitotic ones. Guided by prediction of a division event, multiple ant colonies evolve between consecutive frames according to an augmented assignment matrix solved by the extended Hungarian method. To handle dense cell populations, an efficient group partition between cells and measurements is exploited, which enables multiple assignment tasks to be executed in parallel with a reduction in matrix dimension. After inter-frame traversing, the ant colony transitions to a foraging stage in which it begins approximating the Bernoulli parameter to estimate cell state by iteratively updating its pheromone field. Experiments on multi-cell tracking in the presence of cell mitosis and morphological changes are conducted, and the results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art approaches, striking a balance between accuracy and computational efficiency.

ABSTRACTWe assess whether and how crowdfunding influences follow-up financing through syndicated venture capital. Drawing on signaling theory and the syndication literature, our overarching empirical finding is that crowdfunding influences different dimensions of the venture capital syndication process. First, ventures that used crowdfunding have a lower likelihood to be financed by a syndicated investment. Second, a crowdfunding campaign facilitates smaller but more international syndicates, while investment experience appears to be incidental. Overall, our results show that a crowdfunding campaign can mitigate information asymmetries between a venture capitalist and a new venture, reducing the need to form syndicates.

This paper introduces in detail the development process of full screen camera technology and products in the past two years, carefully compares the TFT inside method represented by Samsung Fold3 product and the TFT outside method represented by ZTE Axon30 product, and proposes the FDC (Full Display with Camera) technology developed by BOE that has been used in ZTE Axon40 product. Compared with the one‐ to‐multi array technology launched by Visionox, BOE's one‐to‐one driving method realized by TFT compression design is optimal in both display quality and photographing, which can be really called full screen technology.

The BRG-/BRM-associated factor (BAF) chromatin remodeling complex is a central actor in transcription. One mechanism by which BAF affects gene expression is via its various histone mark readers, including double plant homeodomains (DPF), located in the BAF45D subunit. DPF domains recognize lysine acetyl and acylations, including crotonylation, localized at promoters and enhancers. Despite a significant degree of conservation between DPF domains, attempts to crystallize BAF45D with a crotonylated histone 3 peptide (H3K14Cr) were unsuccessful. In addition, recent cryoEM and modeled structures failed to define the Req domain of BAF45D, which is responsible for reading lysine modifications. Thus, the precise mechanism of crotonyl group recognition and binding by BAF45D within the BAF complex remains unclear. We turned to protein footprinting mass spectrometry to map the binding interface between H3K14Cr and BAF45D. This technique is able to demarcate protein-binding interfaces by modifying surface-accessible residues and is not limited by protein size or composition. Experiments performed in the isolated DPF domain of BAF45D (BAF45DDPF)-delineated H3K14Cr peptide binding across the PHD1 and PHD2 pockets. We observed markedly similar effects on the BAF45D subunit when assessing H3K14Cr binding in the purified full BAF complex. The ATPase motor, BRM, also displayed H3K14Cr-protected peptides in two separate domains that were subsequently evaluated in direct binding assays. These data confirm the BAF45D–crotonylamide interaction within its obligate complex and are the first to demonstrate H3K14Cr direct binding to BRM.
