4. MCAM: Memductance Components Adaptive Model for Efficient Modeling of Memductance of Memristive Devices for Neuromorphic Circuits and Systems

Abstract

As an emerging technology, memristive devices have flourished to develop energy-efficient computing systems in the form of emerging nonvolatile memories (eNVMs), synaptic connections, and logic design, which could play a critical role in microelectronic design. In neuromorphic applications, the power-off state of a nonvolatile memristor is crucial, as it determines the learning and forgetting of embedded synaptic efficacy. Due to the complexity of the transport mechanisms contributing to the memristor current, memristor modeling remains a critical challenge. The memductance of memristors includes both volatile and nonvolatile components, which can be modeled using a memductance components adaptive model (MCAM). The MCAM enables researchers to model the memductance of memristors, which can be used in neuromorphic applications and logic design. Mathematical explanations and two physical models of memristors extracted from experimental results demonstrate the model’s accuracy. The application of MCAM for synaptic updates in spiking neuromorphic systems is also shown.

Abstract

Con la rápida transformación digital, la medicina de precisión ha sido una parte esencial para elevar la conciencia de la atención médica con respecto al modelo biopsicosocial con la ayuda de sistemas de monitoreo remoto de pacientes. In this paper, we discuss the challenges in terms of computing to implement a complex system called Wellness Digital Twin-based Remote Patient Monitoring System following Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), we present the definition, needs of the digital twin in the context of wellness and healthcare, a feasibility study followed by a concept of operations. Subsequently, we present the requirements and architecture including In-memory computing, (Emerging Non-Volatile Memories, memristive devices) that will enhance sensing, analytics, and levers of action

WIP: Taking Responsibility to Understand Engineering (TRUE): A qualitative investigation of students' engineering self-efficacy as a result of participation in a multi-stakeholder capstone program Abstract The recent Boyer 2030 commission report on undergraduate education at U.S. research universities emphasized "World Readiness," referring to "a vision of undergraduate education that includes and goes beyond the essential goal of near-term workforce readiness to empower students for citizenship, life, and work throughout their lifetimes" [1, p.22]. In order to optimize student learning and success towards "world readiness," we must empower students to become agents of change in their own spaces, including being able to effectively self-regulate their own learning and take responsibility to understand and apply engineering. In 2015, the Electrical Engineering Department at a University of South Florida (USF) university in the U.S. initiated the Taking Responsibility to Understand Engineering (TRUE) initiative as part of a department cultural transformation program.
