IntroductionPost-stroke depression (PSD) is the most common complication following a stroke, significantly hindering recovery and rehabilitation in affected patients. Despite its prevalence, the pathogenesis of PSD remains poorly understood. Electroacupuncture (EA) has shown antidepressant effects, yet its neuroprotective properties are not well defined. Ferroptosis, a recently identified form of cell death, is implicated in the pathological processes of stroke and is associated with the development of depression-like behaviors. So we aimed to investigate whether PSD induces ferroptosis, identify potential therapeutic targets within these pathways, and elucidate the underlying mechanisms in this study.MethodsMale Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to middle carotid artery occlusion and chronic unpredictable mild stress to model PSD. To explore the role of ferroptosis in the effects of EA, the ferroptosis inducer erastin was administered into the rats’ lateral ventricles, followed by 14 days of EA treatment, with sessions lasting 30 minutes per day. The Zea-Longa score was used to assess neurological deficits, while the sucrose preference test, elevated plus maze test, and open-field test were employed to evaluate depression-like behaviors in the rats. Hematoxylin-eosin, Nissl, and Perl’s staining were used to observe the morphological changes and iron deposition in the prefrontal neurons. Transmission electron microscopy provided detailed observations of mitochondrial morphological changes in neurons. We utilized activity assay kits, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and Western blotting to explore potential molecular mechanisms underlying the effects of EA.ResultsEA can reduce neurological deficits and enhance the spontaneous activity and exploration behavior of rats. In addition, EA could inhibit prefrontal cortex neuronal ferroptosis by reducing iron deposition, decreasing lipid peroxidation, and enhancing antioxidation.DiscussionEA improved depression-like behaviors, mitigated mitochondrial damage, and inhibited ferroptosis in prefrontal cortex neurons. Notably, the administration of erastin further enhanced these effects. In conclusion, EA appears to improve PSD by inhibiting ferroptosis in the prefrontal cortex.

In the context of the rapid development of the digital economy, digital homes have emerged as a crucial component, significantly contributing to the output of the digital economy. This study employs CiteSpace software to conduct a quantitative analysis of journal articles containing the keywords “digital home” and “digital family” from 2005 to 2023. The study utilized CiteSpace VI software to perform keyword co-occurrence, clustering analysis, trend mapping, and emergent word analysis on data sourced from the Web of Science (WoS) and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) databases. This approach quantitatively analyzed and compared the research hotspots and developmental trends in digital homes, both domestically and in foreign countries. The analysis reveals distinct focal points in the research topics covered in Chinese and foreign literature. Foreign publications predominantly concentrate on network construction and user experience. In contrast, Chinese works are more focused on the application of technology and network security. Moreover, Chinese studies are inclined towards exploring segmented technology application scenarios, such as the integration of smart home and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, whereas foreign studies often discuss enhancing network efficiency and user interface convenience. The findings suggest that future developments in digital homes should increasingly consider cross-cultural user experiences and data security to adapt to global trends. Through systematic research on digital homes, this paper provides theoretical and practical guidance for planning and constructing digital homes and offers new perspectives and impetus for the development of the digital economy. Future studies could explore the application differences of digital homes across various cultural backgrounds and how to enhance the digital living experience of users while ensuring data security.

Cracked tooth is a common dental hard tissue disease.The involvement of cracks directly affects the selection of treatment and restoration of the affected teeth.It is helpful to choose more appropriate treatment options and evaluate the prognosis of the affected tooth accurately to determine the actual involvement of the crack.However, it is often difficult to accurately and quantitatively assess the scope of cracks at present.So it is necessary to find a real method of early quantitative and non-destructive crack detection.This article reviews the current clinical detection methods and research progress of cracked tooth in order to provide a reference for finding a clinical detection method for cracked tooth.

Aiming to precisely identify a compound fault of rolling bearing, the paper has contributed a fault characteristic enhancement method by combing entropy weight method (EWM) and intrinsic time scale decomposition (ITD). Firstly, to effectively segregate frequency components in vibration signals, proper rotation components (PRCs) were obtained by decomposing vibration signals based on ITD. Secondly, in view of the fact that amplitude, variance and correlation coefficient vary greatly in a bearing fault accompanied by impact components, parameter evaluation indexes were brought in to depict the fault characteristics of PRCs, including average, variance, correlation coefficient, margin factor, kurtosis, impulse factor, peak factor and so on. Thirdly, weight coefficient of each parameter index was calculated by entropy weight method and the characteristics of each PRC highlighted based on that. Finally, the signals were reconstructed according to the PRCs whose characteristics had been enhanced. Meanwhile reconstructed signals were denoised with singular differential spectrum (SDS) to reduce the influence of noise components, and then the type of compound fault was distinguished grounded on the frequency spectrum. To further prove the efficiency of proposed method, it is compared with other methods (SDS, ITD + entropy method). The result indicates that the proposed method can further highlight the characteristic information of compound faults of bearing and embody more exact identification and judgment on the type of faults.

IntroductionCurrently, the commonly used surgical methods for cervical lesions include loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) and cold knife conization (CKC). However, the positive rate of surgical margins after LEEP is relatively high, which leads to disease recurrence and places further demand on clinical treatment. This study investigated factors related to positive margins after LEEP and established a scoring system to enhance preoperative risk assessment and surgical selection.Materials and MethodsA retrospective analysis of the clinical data of 411 patients undergoing LEEP surgery for cervical lesions in the First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), from January 2016 to March 2021, was performed. Cases were divided into a negative margin group (349 cases) and a positive margin group according to postoperative pathology. In the positive group (62 cases), single-factor and multi-factor analyses screened influencing factors; a logistic and additive scoring system was established; furthermore, a ROC curve was used to evaluate scoring effectiveness.ResultsThe positive rate of resection margins after LEEP was 15.1%. Univariate analysis indicated a relationship to patient age, menopause, preoperative ThinPrep Cytology Test (TCT) results, lesion quadrant number under colposcopy, cervical biopsy, and the result of endocervical curettage (ECC). Multivariate analysis showed that age >35 y, menopause, preoperative TCT being high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL), four quadrants being involved under colposcopy, and ECC being HSIL were all independent influencing factors of positive margins after LEEP (P < 0.05). These were included with the above factors to establish a logistic and additive scoring system. When the logistic score was 17, the sensitivity and specificity of predicting positive margins after LEEP were 80.6 and 61.6%, respectively. When the additive score was 6, the sensitivity and specificity were 74.2 and 66.2%, respectively. Both scoring systems had good predictability (area under the curve AUC >0.75).ConclusionsThis study quantified factors influencing positive margins after LEEP and established a scoring system for evaluating patients before surgery to provide a basis for individualized treatment and selection of surgical methods.

Breakthroughs in the field of nanotechnology, especially in nanochemistry and nanofabrication technologies, have been attracting much attention, and various nanomaterials have recently been developed for biomedical applications. Among these nanomaterials, nanoscale titanium dioxide (nano-TiO2) has been widely valued in stomatology due to the fact of its excellent biocompatibility, antibacterial activity, and photocatalytic activity as well as its potential use for applications such as dental implant surface modification, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, drug delivery carrier, dental material additives, and oral tumor diagnosis and treatment. However, the biosafety of nano-TiO2 is controversial and has become a key constraint in the development of nano-TiO2 applications in stomatology. Therefore, in this review, we summarize recent research regarding the applications of nano-TiO2 in stomatology, with an emphasis on its performance characteristics in different fields, and evaluations of the biological security of nano-TiO2 applications. In addition, we discuss the challenges, prospects, and future research directions regarding applications of nano-TiO2 in stomatology that are significant and worthy of further exploration.

Little is known about the materials used in the manufacture of red window glass in the 19th and the first decade of the 20th century. Here, we have studied fragments from eight Spanish glasses from the 19th and 20th centuries. The red glasses consist of a single layer of red glass on a colourless glass substrate. The chemical composition, oxidation state, nature of colourants and crystalline precipitates were determined by a selection of microanalytical techniques. In the study, we have found that the red colour of the glass is due to the presence of Cu0 nanoparticles, the red glass layer has lower calcium content than the substrate glasses, which we found favours copper being present in the glass predominantly in Cu+. They also contain tin and iron while lead, described in historical and modern documentation, was absent. Tin must have been added to the glass as a Sn2+ compound and acted as a reducing agent for copper. Iron is also a well-known reducing agent, but does not act as such in the red glasses studied here. However, it may have facilitated the reduction of copper to Cu0 by promoting its incorporation into the glass as Cu+ rather than Cu2+. Resumen: Poco se sabe sobre los materiales utilizados en la fabricación de vidrios rojos planos en el siglo xix y primera década del xx, por ello se han estudiado ocho fragmentos españoles de la época. Todos ellos están formados por una sola capa de vidrio rojo sobre un sustrato de vidrio incoloro. La composición química, el estado de oxidación, la naturaleza de los colorantes y los precipitados cristalinos se han determinado mediante una selección de técnicas microanalíticas. Hemos encontrado que la capa de vidrio rojo contiene nanopartículas de Cu0, y que tiene un menor contenido de calcio menor que el vidrio sustrato, lo cual favorece que el cobre esté en el vidrio predominantemente como Cu+. Tal y como está descrito en la documentación histórica y moderna contienen estaño y hierro, pero no se ha verificado la presencia de plomo. El estaño se agregó al vidrio como un compuesto Sn2+ y actuó como agente reductor del cobre. El hierro a pesar de ser un agente reductor, no actúa como tal en los vidrios rojos estudiados. Sin embargo, su presencia podría facilitar la reducción del cobre a Cu0 al promover su incorporación al vidrio como Cu+ en lugar de Cu2+.

Abstract Two-dimensional (2D) superlattices, formed by stacking sublattices of 2D materials, have emerged as a powerful platform for tailoring and enhancing material properties beyond their intrinsic characteristics. However, conventional synthesis methods are limited to pristine 2D material sublattices, posing a significant practical challenge when it comes to stacking chemically modified sublattices. Here we report a chemical synthesis method that overcomes this challenge by creating a unique 2D graphene superlattice, stacking graphene sublattices with monodisperse, nanometer-sized, square-shaped pores and strategically doped elements at the pore edges. The resulting graphene superlattice exhibits remarkable correlations between quantum phases at both the electron and phonon levels, leading to diverse functionalities, such as electromagnetic shielding, energy harvesting, optoelectronics, and thermoelectrics. Overall, our findings not only provide chemical design principles for synthesizing and understanding functional 2D superlattices but also expand their enhanced functionality and extensive application potential compared to their pristine counterparts.

Egg-free mayonnaise is receiving greater attention due to its potential health benefits. This study used whey protein isolate (WPI) as an emulsifier to develop high internal phase emulsions (HIPEs) based on beeswax (BW) oleogels through a simple one-step method. The effects of WPI, NaCl and sucrose on the physicochemical properties of HIPEs were investigated. A novel simulated mayonnaise was then prepared and characterized. Microstructural observation revealed that WPI enveloped oil droplets at the interface, forming a typical O/W emulsion. Increase in WPI content led to significantly enhanced stability of HIPEs, and HIPEs with 5% WPI had the smallest particle size (11.9 ± 0.18 μm). With the increase in NaCl concentration, particle size was increased and ζ-potential was decreased. Higher sucrose content led to reduced particle size and ζ-potential, and slightly improved stability. Rheological tests indicated solid-like properties and shear-thinning behaviors in all HIPEs. The addition of WPI and sucrose improved the structures and viscosity of HIPEs. Simulated mayonnaises (WE-0.3%, WE-1% and YE) were then prepared based on the above HIPEs. Compared to commercial mayonnaises, the mayonnaises based on HIPEs exhibited higher viscoelastic modulus and similar tribological characteristics, indicating the potential application feasibility of oleogel-based HIPEs in mayonnaise. These findings provided insights into the development of novel and healthier mayonnaise alternatives.

In view of the cyclostationary characteristics of vibration signals from aero-engine, the combination of cyclic autocorrelation function and intrinsic timescale decomposition (ITD) has been proposed. According to the proposed method, vibration signals are decomposed by ITD algorithm to obtain the autocorrelation function of proper rotation components (PRC), based on which characteristic extraction and identification of compound faults of rolling bearings is made possible. To validate the effectiveness of method, an analysis has been given to the vibration signals of rolling bearings collected by sensors of different positions in different compound fault modes. As shown by results, the method combining ITD and cyclostationary theory can precisely and effectively extract the characteristic frequency relative to the type of faults and identify the compound faults. Abstract Nitrate is an important source of nitrogen and also acts as a signaling molecule to trigger numerous physiological, growth, and developmental processes throughout the life of the plant. Many nitrate transporters, transcription factors, and protein kinases participate in the regulation of nitrate signaling. Here, we identified a gene encoding the chrysanthemum calcineurin B-like interacting protein kinase CmCIPK23, which participates in nitrate signaling pathways. In Arabidopsis, overexpression of CmCIPK23 significantly decreased lateral root number and length and primary root length compared to the WT when grown on modified Murashige and Skoog medium with KNO3 as the sole nitrogen source (modified MS). The expression of nitrate-responsive genes differed significantly between CmCIPK23-overexpressing Arabidopsis (CmCIPK23-OE) and the WT after nitrate treatment. Nitrate content was significantly lower in CmCIPK23-OE roots, which may have resulted from reduced nitrate uptake at high external nitrate concentrations (≥ 1 mM). Nitrate reductase activity and the expression of nitrate reductase and glutamine synthase genes were lower in CmCIPK23-OE roots. We also found that CmCIPK23 interacted with the transcription factor CmTGA1, whose Arabidopsis homolog regulates the nitrate response. We inferred that CmCIPK23 overexpression influences root development on modified MS medium, as well as root nitrate uptake and assimilation at high external nitrate supply. These findings offer new perspectives on the mechanisms by which the chrysanthemum CBL interacting protein kinase CmCIPK23 influences nitrate signaling.

The AP1 complex is a highly conserved clathrin adaptor that plays important roles in regulating cargo protein sorting and intracellular vesicle trafficking in eukaryotes. However, the functions of the AP1 complex in the plant pathogenic fungi including the devastating wheat pathogen Fusarium graminearum are still unclear. In this study, we investigated the biological functions of FgAP1σ, a subunit of the AP1 complex in F. graminearum. Disruption of FgAP1σ causes seriously impaired fungal vegetative growth, conidiogenesis, sexual development, pathogenesis, and deoxynivalenol (DON) production. The ΔFgap1σ mutants were found to be less sensitive to KCl- and sorbitol-induced osmotic stresses but more sensitive to SDS-induced stress than the wild-type PH-1. Although the growth inhibition rate of the ΔFgap1σ mutants was not significantly changed under calcofluor white (CFW) and Congo red (CR) stresses, the protoplasts released from ΔFgap1σ hyphae were decreased compared with the wild-type PH-1, suggesting that FgAP1σ is necessary for cell wall integrity and osmotic stresses in F. graminearum. Subcellular localization assays showed that FgAP1σ was predominantly localized to endosomes and the Golgi apparatus. In addition, FgAP1β-GFP, FgAP1γ-GFP, and FgAP1μ-GFP also localize to the Golgi apparatus. FgAP1β interacts with FgAP1σ, FgAP1γ, and FgAP1μ, while FgAP1σ regulates the expression of FgAP1β, FgAP1γ, and FgAP1μ in F. graminearum. Furthermore, the loss of FgAP1σ blocks the transportation of the v-SNARE protein FgSnc1 from the Golgi to the plasma membrane and delays the internalization of FM4-64 dye into the vacuole. Taken together, our results demonstrate that FgAP1σ plays vital roles in vegetative growth, conidiogenesis, sexual reproduction, DON production, pathogenicity, cell wall integrity, osmotic stress, exocytosis, and endocytosis in F. graminearum. These findings unveil the functions of the AP1 complex in filamentous fungi, most notably in F. graminearum, and lay solid foundations for effective prevention and control of Fusarium head blight (FHB).

The autocorrelation function is combined with wavelet transform and cyclostationary theory (WT-AF-CT) in place of threshold denoising, and meanwhile the mean power ratio (MPR) is calculated by the proposed method. Furthermore, extracted characteristic as well as calculated MPR is used to identify compound faults of rolling bearings in aero-engine based on casing vibration acceleration signal-including the ones of common rolling bearing (inner race rotates and outer race is constant) and intershaft bearing (co-rotates with outer and inner race). A comparative analysis was carried out between conventional researches (cyclostationary theory (CT) or wavelet transform combined with threshold value denoising (WT-TD)) and proposed WT-AF-CT method. Additionally, the effect of sensors installation direction for feature separation and extraction of compound faults is considered. The results indicate that the proposed WT-AF-CT method can separate and extract characteristics of compound faults exactly and identify fault types of bearings precisely, no matter sensors are installed horizontally or vertically, while CT or WT cannot.
