1. EFFECT OF SULFATE ON THE CHLORIDE DIFFUSION BEHAVIOR OF CORAL AGGREGATE CONCRETE IN THE MARINE TIDE ZONE

Abstract

This paper studied the effect of sulfate on chloride diffusion behavior in coral aggregate concrete (CAC) in marine tide zone. Three water/binder ratios of CAC were designed for experimental analysis, and the mechanism of the effect of sulfate on chloride transport was investigated by different microscopic experimental methods. The test results show that the chloride content decreases with the decrease of water/binder ratio of CAC. At an equal number of drying-wetting cycles, the chloride content under the combined action of chloride and sulphate is lower than that under the sole action of chloride. The change of peak chloride content with time showed a linear function with the square root of erosion time, while the chloride diffusion coefficient gradually decreased with erosion time. Adding silica fume to CAC effectively reduced the chloride diffusion coefficient, with a decrease of 26.1%∼46.2%. The attenuation coefficient of CAC under chloride erosion was 16.4%∼38.1% higher than that under the combined action of chloride and sulfate. The chloride diffusion model was established, and the error between the calculated value of the model and the experimental value was within 16%. Microscopic observations revealed that in the early stage of erosion, the sulfate erosion products ettringite and gypsum had a compacting effect on the CAC, but in the late stage of erosion, they produced expansion cracks, which accelerated the deterioration of CAC.

Abstract

In this paper, the chloride diffusion behaviour of coral aggregate concrete (CAC) exposed to marine submerged, tidal, and salt spray zones was investigated, and the effect of the fly ash (FA) content on the chloride diffusion was explored. The chloride concentration was measured using the potentiometric method, and the Ca(OH)₂ content in the CAC was calculated using the thermogravimetric method. The results show that the chloride concentration in the submerged zone decreases with an increasing erosion depth; meanwhile, in the tidal and salt spray zones, the chloride concentration showed a two-stage distribution pattern. The depth of the convective zone gradually increases with an increasing erosion time, and the depth of the convective zone in the salt spray zone is larger than that in the tidal zone. The chloride diffusion coefficient exhibits a power-function attenuation relationship with erosion time when exposed to different corrosion zones. The attenuation coefficient of the chloride diffusion coefficient increases with an increasing FA content. Moreover, the attenuation coefficient is the highest in the salt spray zone with it being 10.8% to 28.5% higher than that of the tidal zone. In addition, the Ca(OH)₂ content in the tidal zone is not only the lowest, but also gradually decreases with an increasing erosion time.

3. Inference-based statistical network analysis uncovers star-like brain functional architectures for internalizing psychopathology in children

Abstract

To improve the statistical power for imaging biomarker detection, we propose a latent variable-based statistical network analysis (LatentSNA) that combines brain functional connectivity with internalizing psychopathology, implementing network science in a generative statistical process to preserve the neurologically meaningful network topology in the adolescents and children population. The developed inference-focused generative Bayesian framework (1) addresses the lack of power and inflated Type II errors in current analytic approaches when detecting imaging biomarkers, (2) allows unbiased estimation of biomarkers' influence on behavior variants, (3) quantifies the uncertainty and evaluates the likelihood of the estimated biomarker effects against chance and (4) ultimately improves brain-behavior prediction in novel samples and the clinical utilities of neuroimaging findings. We collectively model multi-state functional networks with multivariate internalizing profiles for 5,000 to 7,000 children in the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study with sufficiently accurate prediction of both children internalizing traits and functional connectivity, and substantially improved our ability to explain the individual internalizing differences compared with current approaches. We successfully uncover large, coherent star-like brain functional architectures associated with children's internalizing psychopathology across multiple functional systems and establish them as unique fingerprints for childhood internalization.

Abstract

Early programming models for software-defined networking (SDN) focused on basic features for controlling network-wide forwarding paths, but more recent work has considered richer features, such as packet scheduling and queueing, that affect performance. In particular, PIFO trees, proposed by Sivaraman et al., offer a flexible and efficient primitive for programmable packet scheduling. Prior work has shown that PIFO trees can express a wide range of practical algorithms including strict priority, weighted fair queueing, and hierarchical schemes. However, the semantic properties of PIFO trees are not well understood. This paper studies PIFO trees from a programming language perspective. We formalize the syntax and semantics of PIFO trees in an operational model that decouples the scheduling policy running on a tree from the topology of the tree. Building on this formalization, we develop compilation algorithms that allow the behavior of a PIFO tree written against one topology to be realized using a tree with a different topology. Such a compiler could be used to optimize an implementation of PIFO trees, or realize a logical PIFO tree on a target with a fixed topology baked into the hardware. To support experimentation, we develop a software simulator for PIFO trees, and we present case studies illustrating its behavior on standard and custom algorithms.
