Objective: To explore clinical outcomes and bone resection of interlaminar fenestration decompression and unilateral biportal endoscopic (UBE) technique in treating lumbar disc herniation(LDH)., Methods: A retrospective study was performed on 105 patients with single-level LDH treated from December 2019 to December 2021. Fifty-four patients in UBE group,including 32 males and 22 females,aged from 18 to 50 years old with an average of(38.7±9.3) years old,were treated with UBE,29 patients with L 4,5 and 25 patients with L 5 S 1 . There were 51 patients in small fenestration group,including 27 males and 24 females,aged from 18 to 50 years old with an average of (39.9±10.0) years old,were treated with small fenestration,25 patients with L 4,5 and 26 patients with L 5 S 1 . Perioperative indexes,such as operation time,postoperative time of getting out of bed and hospital stay were observed and compared between two groups. Visual analogue scale (VAS) and Oswestry disability index (ODI) were compared between two groups before operation and 1,3,6 and 12 months after operation,respectively;and modified MacNab evaluation criteria was used to evaluate clinical efficacy. Amount of bone resection and retention rate of inferior articular process laminoid complex were compared between two groups., Results: All 105 patients were successfully completed operation. Both of two groups were followed up from 6 to 12 months with an average of (10.69±2.49) months. Operation time,postoperative time of getting out of bed and hospital stay were (58.20±5.54) min,(2.40±0.57) d and (3.80±0.61) d in UBE group,and (62.90±7.14) min,(4.40±0.64) d and (4.40±0.64) d in small fenestrum group,respectively;and had statistically difference between two groups( P <0.05). Postoperative VAS of low back and leg pain and ODI in both groups were significantly lower than those before surgery ( P <0.05). VAS of lumbar pain in UBE group (1.37±0.49) score was lower than that of small fenestration group (2.45±0.64) score,and had statistically difference ( t =9.745, P <0.05). Postoperative ODI in UBE group at 1 and 3 months were (28.54±3.31) % and (22.87±3.23) %,respectively,which were lower than those in small fenestra group (36.31±9.08) % and (29.90±8.36) %,and the difference was statistically significant ( P <0.05). There were no significant difference in VAS and ODI between two groups at other time points ( P >0.05). According to the modified MacNab evaluation criteria at the latest follow-up,49 patients got excellent result,3 good,and 2 fair in UBE group. In small fenestration group,35 patients got excellent,12 good,and 4 fair. In UBE group,amount of bone resection on L 4,5 segment was (0.45±0.08) cm 3 and (0.31±0.08) cm 3 on the segment of L 5 S 1 . In small fenestration group,amount of bone resection on L 4,5 segment was (0.57±0.07) cm 3 and (0.49±0.04) cm 3 on the segment of L5S1,and amount of bone resection of lower articular process laminar complex on the same segment in UBE group was less than that in small fenestration group ( P <0.05). In UBE group,retention rate of laminoid complex on L4,5 segment was (0.73±0.04) and L5S1 segment was (0.83±0.03),while L4,5 segment was(0.68±0.06) and L5S1 segment was (0.74±0.04) in small fenestration group,the lower articular process laminar complex retention rate in UBE group was higher than that in small fenestration group( P <0.05)., Conclusion: Both unilateral double-channel endoscopy and small fenestration of laminae could achieve good clinical results in treating LDH,but UBE has advantages of less trauma,higher efficiency,faster postoperative recovery and less damage to bone structure.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Corydalis hendersonii Hemsl. (CH), is a traditional Tibetan medicine used in highland areas for the treatment of alpine polycythemia, ulcers and various inflammatory diseases. Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects have been demonstrated in experimental mice. Loss of dopaminergic neurons due to oxidative damage is thought to be an important factor in the development of PD, the potential antioxidant, anti-inflammatory effects of CH could potentially be used for PD treatment., Aim of the Study: To identify potential targets of CH using network pharmacology and to investigate the neuroprotective effects in cultured cell models and in MPTP-intoxicated mice., Materials and Methods: The main chemical components of CH were analyzed by UPLC-MS/MS and their potential targets of action or signaling pathways were analyzed using network pharmacology. MPP + or LPS was added to SH-SY5Y or BV2 cells, respectively, to establish cellular models. MPTP was administered to C57BL/6J mice to induce inflammation and dopaminergic neuron loss as well as dyskinesia, followed by behavioral analysis to determine the role of CH in eliminating inflammation, avoiding neuron loss, and improving dyskinesia., Results: CH contains 241 alkaloids, 213 flavonoids, 177 terpenoids and 114 phenolic compounds. The targets crossover between CH and PD yielded 210 potential therapeutic targets, especially growth factors and inflammatory pathway-related genes, such as BDNF, NF-κB, as potential key targets. In cultured cells, CHE eliminated MPP + -induced impairment of cell viability as well as LPS-induced inflammation, respectively. In mice, CHE ameliorated MPTP-induced dyskinesia and rescued the loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra and striatum. Mechanistically, CHE effectively maintained the activity of the BDNF-TrkB/Akt signaling pathway, accordingly, inhibited inflammatory signaling pathways such as HIF-1α/PKM2 and Notch/NF-kB., Conclusions: CH performed well in eliminating inflammation and improving locomotor deficits in mice, and its potent active ingredients are worthy of subsequent research and development., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper., (Copyright © 2023 Elsevier B.V. In order to excavate microbial epoxide hydrolases (EHs) with desired catalytic properties, a novel EH, SfEH1, was identified based on the genome annotation of Streptomyces fradiae and sequence alignment analysis with local protein library. The SfEH1-encoding gene, sfeh1, was then cloned and over-expressed in soluble form in Escherichia coli/BL21(DE3). The optimal temperature and pH of recombinant SfEH1 (reSfEH1) and reSfEH1-expressing E. coli (E. coli/sfeh1) were both determined as 30 ℃ and 7.0, also indicating that the influences of temperature and pH on reSfEH1's activities were more obvious than those of E. coli/sfeh1 whole cells. Subsequently, using E. coli/sfeh1 as catalyst, its catalytic properties towards thirteen common mono-substituted epoxides were tested, in which E. coli/sfeh1 had the highest activity of 28.5 U/g dry cells for rac-1,2-epoxyoctane (rac-6a), and (R)-1,2-pentanediol ((R)-3b) (or (R)-1,2-hexanediol ((R)-4b)) with up to 92.5% (or 94.1%) ee p was obtained at almost 100% conversion ratio. Regioselectivity coefficients (α S and β R ) displayed in the enantioconvergent hydrolysis of rac-3a (or rac-4a) were calculated to be 98.7% and 93.8% (or 95.2% and 98.9%). The matrix proteins (M) of many enveloped RNA viruses mediate virus assembly and budding. However, it remains poorly understood how M are involved in virus budding and how they interact with envelope proteins. Here, we show that the expression level of Nipah (NiV) M in particles produced by the host cells deviates from a gamma distribution and does not reflect that of the host cells, indicating assembly of the NiV-M in the process. Our data reveal that NiV-M affects the circularity of the particles while the NiV envelope proteins do not. The organization of NiV envelope proteins on the membrane of the particles is similar to those that do not express NiV-M, suggesting that NiV-M does not directly interact with the envelope proteins during assembly and budding., Competing Interests: Declaration of interests The authors declare no competing interests., (Copyright © 2022 Biophysical Society.
