1. Mobile Robot Oriented Large-Scale Indoor Dataset for Dynamic Scene Understanding

Abstract

Most existing robotic datasets capture static scene data and thus are limited in evaluating robots' dynamic performance. To address this, we present a mobile robot oriented large-scale indoor dataset, denoted as THUD (Tsinghua University Dynamic) robotic dataset, for training and evaluating their dynamic scene understanding algorithms. Specifically, the THUD dataset construction is first detailed, including organization, acquisition, and annotation methods. It comprises both real-world and synthetic data, collected with a real robot platform and a physical simulation platform, respectively. Our current dataset includes 13 larges-scale dynamic scenarios, 90K image frames, 20M 2D/3D bounding boxes of static and dynamic objects, camera poses, and IMU. The dataset is still continuously expanding. Then, the performance of mainstream indoor scene understanding tasks, e.g. 3D object detection, semantic segmentation, and robot relocalization, is evaluated on our THUD dataset. These experiments reveal serious challenges for some robot scene understanding tasks in dynamic scenes. 2. GaussianRoom: Improving 3D Gaussian Splatting with SDF Guidance and Monocular Cues for Indoor Scene Reconstruction

Abstract

Recently, 3D Gaussian Splatting(3DGS) has revolutionized neural rendering with its high-quality rendering and real-time speed. However, when it comes to indoor scenes with a significant number of textureless areas, 3DGS yields incomplete and noisy reconstruction results due to the poor initialization of the point cloud and under-constrained optimization. Inspired by the continuity of signed distance field (SDF), which naturally has advantages in modeling surfaces, we present a unified optimizing framework integrating neural SDF with 3DGS. This framework incorporates a learnable neural SDF field to guide the densification and pruning of Gaussians, enabling Gaussians to accurately model scenes even with poor initialized point clouds. At the same time, the geometry represented by Gaussians improves the efficiency of the SDF field by piloting its point sampling. Additionally, we regularize the optimization with normal and edge priors to eliminate geometry ambiguity in textureless areas and improve the details. Extensive experiments in ScanNet and ScanNet++ show that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance in both surface reconstruction and novel view synthesis.

6. Highly efficient and stable halide perovskite solar cells

Abstract

The recent success of thin-film photovoltaics (PVs) based on halide perovskite semiconductors is considered to be highly promising. Impressive breakthroughs in power conversion efficiency (PCE) of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have progressed beyond 25%. However, the qualities of light-absorbing films, electron transport layers (ETLs), and hole transport layers (HTLs) have a large impact on device performance, such as a large number of defects present in semiconductor films, interface energy mismatch, and ion migration. In pursuit of the high performance of PSCs, understanding semiconductor material properties comprehensively and designing rational improvement strategies that correlate the bulk/interface photophysics properties are focused on in this dissertation, which has major implications for academic research and potential applications. The defects, carrier dynamics, and band energy of perovskite films are the main factors affecting the photogenerated carrier separation and transport and photoelectric performance. The focus herein is on reconstructing the interface of perovskite polycrystalline films by employing novel organic ammonium salts, i.e., neo-pentylammonium (neoPA) halide salts, to minimize non-radiative recombination loss. To this end, the effect of halide choice on quasi-two-dimensional (quasi-2D) perovskite capping layer on a three-dimensional (3D) perovskite light absorber was systematically analysed, including the formation mechanism, crystallography, and photoelectric properties. It was concluded that the iodide-based (neoPA)2(FA)(n-1)PbnI(3n+1) interlayer form, which is independent of the incorporated halide anions. Instead, the halide anions fill the halide vacancies, contributing to the reduction of defect density. Among them, the quasi-2D interlayer induced by chloride-based salts endows perovskite films with superior crystallography, enhanced carrier extraction and transport compared to the iodide and bromide analogues. The quasi-2D/3D-based PSCs boost champion PCE from 20.9% to 23.3% and enhance the shelf life of the device by over 1500 hours. Furthermore, spin-coated and chemical bath deposition (CBD) processed SnO2 ETL are systematically studied. The films deposited by commercial colloidal SnO2 nanoparticles show insufficient carrier transport at the interface of the ETL and perovskite due to the poor coverage, uneven thickness, and voids at the contact interface. By contrast, the CBD process provides a path towards uniform film coverage and phase purity rutile SnO2 crystals. A growth-controlled deposition strategy for CBD-SnO2 was developed to tune the crystallization rate and grain uniformity, enabling highly dense, controllable film quality, and efficient carrier transport, which is beneficial for Voc and fill factor (FF). This work establishes a highly reproducible, high-performance (22.13% PCE), and stable passivation-free PSC system (over 3192 hours). Finally, the functionality of ferrocene was proposed to tackle the device instability issue induced by mobile lithium ions (Li+) in the 2,2',7,7'-Tetrakis(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenylamino)-9,9'-spirobifluorene (spiro-OMeTAD). The accumulation of Li+ at the interface and diffusion into the perovskite is significantly reduced, which is attributed to the Li+ tending to combine with an immobile sterically large metallocene to form stable adducts, rendering them immobile. The introduced ferrocene effectively improves the poor stability of Li-doped spiro-OMeTAD, enabling device PCEs retention of up to 74% compared to 24% in the control devices when stored for 1350 hours in elevated 60% relative humidity (RH) conditions. The effective charge carrier separation and transfer at the interface also contributed to increased Jsc from 24.64 mA cm−1 to 25.26 mA cm−1 and PCEs from 21.61% to 23.45% (champion values).

9. Processing mode and processing contents in older and younger adults' sunk cost decision-making

Abstract

Previous studies have found that older adults are less susceptible to sunk costs than younger adults, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Recruiting 63 older adults and 60 younger adults, the current study examined the age differences in the sunk cost effect and then explored the potential mediating effect of processing mode and processing contents with the think-aloud technique in half of the participants who assigned to the think-aloud condition. The results showed that the sunk cost effect was smaller in the older adults than in the younger adults. And the processing mode did not mediate such age differences, although intuitive processing was related to a less sunk cost effect and more preferred by older adults. However, older people less frequently processed deliberately while considering past information or present information in the low prior investment scenarios, explaining their decision superiority when faced with sunk costs. Abstract

Archaeological illustration is a graphic recording technique that delineates the shape, structure, and ornamentation of cultural artifacts using lines, serving as vital material in archaeological work and scholarly research. Aiming at the problems of low line accuracy in the results of current mainstream image generation algorithms and interference caused by severe mural damage, this paper proposes a mural archaeological illustration generation algorithm based on multi-branch feature cross fusion (U2FGAN). The algorithm optimizes skip connections in U2Net through a channel attention mechanism, constructing a multi-branch generator consisting of a line extractor and an edge detector, which separately identify line features and edge information in artifact images before fusing them to generate accurate, high-resolution illustrations. Additionally, a multi-scale conditional discriminator is incorporated to guide the generator in outputting high-quality illustrations with clear details and intact structures. Experiments conducted on the Dunhuang mural illustration datasets demonstrate that compared to mainstream counterparts, U2FGAN reduced the Mean Absolute Error (MAE) by 10.8% to 26.2%, while also showing substantial improvements in Precision (by 9.8% to 32.3%), Fβ-Score (by 5.1% to 32%), and PSNR (by 0.4 to 2.2 dB). Abstract

Background: Nocardia, a rare but potentially fatal pathogen, can induce systemic infections with diverse manifestations. This study aimed to investigate the tissue and organ damage caused by Nocardia farcinica (N. farcinica) in mice via different infection routes, evaluate the resulting host immune responses, and assess its invasiveness in brain tissue. Methods: BALB/c mice were infected with N. farcinica through intranasal, intraperitoneal, and intravenous routes (doses: 1 × 10^8, 1 × 10^7, 1 × 10^7 CFU in 50 µl PBS). Over a 7-day period, body temperature, weight, and mortality were monitored, and samples were collected for histopathological analysis and bacterial load assessment. Serum was isolated for cytokine detection via ELISA. For RNA-seq analysis, mice were infected with 1 × 107 CFU through three infection routes, after which brain tissue was harvested. Results: Intraperitoneal and intravenous N. farcinica infections caused significant clinical symptoms, mortality, and neural disruption in mice, resulting in severe systemic infection. Conversely, intranasal infection primarily affected the lungs without causing significant damage to other organs. Intraperitoneal and intravenous infections significantly increased serum cytokines, particularly TNF-α and IFN-γ. RNA-seq analysis of brains from intravenously infected mice revealed significant differential gene expression, whereas the intranasal and intraperitoneal routes showed limited differences (only three genes). The enriched Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathways in the intravenous group were primarily related to immune processes. Conclusion: The study demonstrated that intravenous N. farcinica infection induces significant clinical symptoms, triggers an inflammatory response, damages multiple organs, and leads to systemic infections. Abstract

Background: Higher maternal pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) is associated with adverse pregnancy and perinatal outcomes. However, whether these associations are causal remains unclear. Methods: We explored the relation of maternal pre-/early-pregnancy BMI with 20 pregnancy and perinatal outcomes by integrating evidence from three different approaches (i.e. multivariable regression, Mendelian randomisation, and paternal negative control analyses), including data from over 400,000 women. Results: All three analytical approaches supported associations of higher maternal BMI with lower odds of maternal anaemia, delivering a small-for-gestational-age baby and initiating breastfeeding, but higher odds of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, pre-labour membrane rupture, induction of labour, caesarean section, large-for-gestational age, high birthweight, low Apgar score at 1 min, and neonatal intensive care unit admission. For example, higher maternal BMI was associated with higher risk of gestational hypertension in multivariable regression (OR = 1.67; 95% CI = 1.63, 1.70 per standard unit in BMI) and Mendelian randomisation (OR = 1.59; 95% CI = 1.38, 1.83), which was not seen for paternal BMI (OR = 1.01; 95% CI = 0.98, 1.04). Findings did not support a relation between maternal BMI and perinatal depression. For other outcomes, evidence was inconclusive due to inconsistencies across the applied approaches or substantial imprecision in effect estimates from Mendelian randomisation. Conclusions: Our findings support a causal role for maternal pre-/early-pregnancy BMI on 14 out of 20 adverse pregnancy and perinatal outcomes. 45. Effects of AMF on Maize Yield and Soil Microbial Community in Sandy and Saline Soils.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effects of applying arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) on maize root growth and yield formation under different soil conditions. This study was conducted under sandy soil (S) and saline–alkali soil (Y), with treatments of AMF application (AM) and no AMF application (CK). The root characteristics, yield, and quality of maize were measured. High-throughput sequencing technology was employed to assess the impact of AMF on the soil microbial community structure, and the correlation between soil microbes and soil physicochemical properties was elucidated. The results show that under both sandy and saline–alkali soil conditions, AMF application significantly enhanced maize root growth, yield, grain quality, and soil available nitrogen (AN), available phosphorus (AP), and available potassium (AK) contents compared to the CK treatment. Soil microbial Alpha diversity analysis indicated that AMF application effectively increased soil microbial diversity and richness. Principal coordinate analysis (PCoA) and microbial community structure analysis revealed significant differences in bacterial communities between AM treatment in sandy soil (SAM) and CK in sandy soil (SCK), and significant differences in both bacterial and fungal communities between AM treatment in saline–alkali soil (YAM) and CK in saline–alkali soil (YCK). Furthermore, significant correlations between microbial communities and soil physicochemical properties were found, such as AN, AP, AK, soil salinity (SS), and organic matter (OM) content. AMF application had a greater impact on bacterial communities than on fungal communities. This study demonstrated that the use of AMF as a bio-fungal fertilizer was effective in improving spring maize yields, especially in terms of yield increase and quality stability in sandy and saline soils, thereby contributing to safe and sustainable cropping practices. Abstract

The grey system forecasting model has been widely used in many fields, but its performance in predicting financial indicators with high volatility is not satisfactory. In order to improve the prediction performance of the grey forecasting model, we investigate a novel stochastic grey forecasting model, that takes into account the random disturbance caused by other unknown factors in the market based on the GM(1, 1) model. We derive the time response function of the stochastic grey forecasting model and the explicit formulas of the upper and lower bounds of the predicted index, and optimize input parameters of the model by using the least square method, the Monte Carlo simulation and the median absolute deviation (MAD) method respectively. Finally, we offer a numerical experiment and the corresponding results show that actual values mostly fall between the upper bound and lower bound of the prediction interval of the stochastic grey forecasting model. This implies that the stochastic grey forecasting model can predict the future development trend well, and it demonstrates the effectiveness of the stochastic grey forecasting model in predicting financial indicators with high volatility.
