1. Generation of optical toroidal vortex with circular asymmetric gratings

Abstract

Toroidal vortex, a topological structure commonly observed in nature, exist in various types such as bubbles produced by dolphins and the air flow surrounding a flying dandelion. A toroidal vortex corresponds to a spatiotemporal wave packet in the shape of a donut that propagates in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the ring. In this work, we propose a circular asymmetric grating to generate vortex rings. A cylindrical vector wave packet is transformed by the device into a transmitted toroidal vortex pulse. Such a compact toroidal vortex generator may find applications in optical topology research and high-dimensional optical communications.

Abstract

ObjectiveTo analyze the molecular characteristics and antibiotic susceptibility of Salmonella isolates and investigate the contamination of Salmonella in pre-packed cooked meat products during food processing.MethodsAccording to the sampling requirements of the national “Manual for Monitoring the Production and Processing of Cooked Meat Products （Pre-packed）”， 460 environmental and cooked meat samples were collected from a pre-packed cooked meat product factory in Dezhou from 2015 to 2017. Salmonella isolation and identification were performed per the currently effective GB 4789.4—2016 protocol. Salmonella serotypes were determined based on serum agglutination. Pulsed field gel electrophoresis （PFGE） and multilocus sequence typing （MLST） were employed to determine the molecular types of Salmonella isolates. Resistance tests for 15 antibiotics were performed using the broth microdilution susceptibility test.ResultsThe detection rate of Salmonella in 460 samples was 5.65% （26/460）. The detection rate in 2016 was the highest （7.65%， 14/183）， and the difference among samples from different years was not statistically significant （χ2=2.82， P>0.05）. Abstract

Vegetation restoration is an effective measure to cope with global climate change and promote soil carbon sequestration. However, during vegetation restoration, the turnover and properties of carbon within various aggregates change. The effects of plant source carbon input on surface soil and subsurface soil may be different. Thus, the characteristics of carbon components in aggregates are affected. Therefore, the research object of this study is the Robinia pseudoacacia forest located in 16–47a of the Loess Plateau, and compared with farmland. The change characteristics of organic carbon functional groups in 0–20 cm, 20–40 cm, and 40–60 cm soil layers were analyzed by Fourier near infrared spectroscopy, and the relationship between the chemical structure of organic carbon and the content of organic carbon components in soil aggregates was clarified, and the mechanism affecting the distribution of organic carbon components in soil aggregates was revealed in the process of vegetation restoration. The results show the following: (1) The stability of surface aggregates is sensitive, while that of deep aggregates is weak. Vegetation restoration increased the surface soil organic carbon content by 1.97~3.78 g·kg−1. (2) After vegetation restoration, the relative contents of polysaccharide functional groups in >0.25 mm aggregates were significantly reduced, while the relative contents of aromatic and aliphatic functional groups of organic carbon were significantly increased. The opposite is true for aggregates smaller than 0.25 mm. (3) With the increase in soil depth, the effect of litter on organic carbon gradually decreased, while the effect of root input on the accumulation of inert carbon in deep soil was more lasting.
