Recently, the optical application of coordination polymers (CPs) has received increasing attention. In this paper, two novel Pb(II)-CPs were successfully synthesized under solvothermal conditions. Single-crystal diffraction analysis shows that compound 1 is an orthorhombic crystal system in the Pbca space group, and compound 2 is a monoclinic crystal system in the C2/c space group. Furthermore, we characterized compounds 1 and 2 by powder X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, solid-state UV-visible absorption spectroscopy and elemental analyses. The optical properties of compounds 1 and 2 were studied in depth, with compound 1 exhibiting yellow luminescence and compound 2 exhibiting blue luminescence. In addition, we mixed compound 1 with a commercial blue phosphor to obtain a white light-emitting diode (WLED) with adjustable correlated color temperature (CCT) and color rendering index (CRI). Abstract Background Pseudomembranous necrotizing laryngotracheobronchitis refers to an acute diffuse necrotizing inflammation in the mucosa of the larynx, trachea, and bronchus. It often occurs in infants and children having viral infections secondary to bacterial infections. Mycoplasma pneumoniae (M. pneumoniae) is a common pathogen that causes pneumonia in children. In recent years, serious complications due to M. pneumoniae infection, including necrotizing pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, and pleural effusion, have been increasingly reported. Case presentation An 11-year-old girl was admitted to our unit with cough, fever, and hoarseness persistent for a week. The results of the M. pneumoniae serological test, PCR examination with bronchial aspirate and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), next-generation sequencing (mNGS) for BALF, all suggested the presence of M. pneumoniae infection. High-resolution CT scanning of the chest showed inflammation of the middle and lower lobes of the right lung. By bronchoscopy, the necrosis of the vocal cords, trachea, and bronchial mucosa was observed; each bronchial lumen contained a large amount of white viscous sputum. Pathological findings for bronchial mucosa suggested inflammatory necrosis. After administration of azithromycin and glucocorticoids, the symptoms of the patients were ameliorated. After 2 weeks post-discharge, the X-ray scan of her chest indicated the pneumonia resolution in the right lung. Conclusions In patients with pneumonia due to M. pneumoniae infection, which causes obvious hoarseness, bronchoscopy is necessary even if the lung lesions are not massively consolidated. When necrotizing lesions of the larynx, trachea, and bronchi are detected by bronchoscopy, the necrotic tissues in the corresponding parts should be conducted tissue biopsy for pathological examination. Apart from macrolide antibiotics, the administration of small doses of glucocorticoids is necessary.

Background: Considering that changes in the choroidal thickness are closely related to ocular growth, we studied the choroidal thickness (CT) and the blood flow features in children with unilateral myopic anisometropia (UMA) as well as investigating the relationship between choroidal changes and myopia. Methods: Subjective refractive, axial length (AL), and biometric parameters were measured in 98 UMA children (age: 8–15 years). CT and choroidal blood-flow features, including the choroidal vessel volume (CVV), choroidal vascularity index (CVI), and choriocapillaris perfusion area (CCPA), were measured through swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography. The macular region was categorized into four concentric circles of diameters 0–1 mm (central fovea), 1–3 mm (parafovea), 3–6 mm (perifovea), and 6–9 mm (extended), and further categorized into superior (S), inferior (I), temporal (T), and nasal (N) quadrants. Results: The aforementioned four regions of myopic eyes displayed significantly lower CT, CVV, and CVI than those of non-myopic eyes. CCPA changes differed across different regions of both the eyes (parts of N and T quadrants). There was an inverse association between CT and the interocular AL difference (central and other regions S, T quadrant). No correlation was noted between CVV and CVI with interocular AL difference. CT and CVV were positively correlated in the 0–6-mm macular region of myopic eyes (Spearman correlation coefficient = 0.763, P < 0.001). Conclusions: In UMA children, CCT and blood flow may be related to myopia progression. A robust correlation between CT and CVV in the 0–6-mm macular region and reduced CT and diminished blood flow indicated an association with myopia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cities in China are experiencing accelerating urbanization, and the associated increase in anthropogenic activities and outcomes places an enormous burden on the environment, increases energy consumption, and leads to poor social sustainability. Poor social sustainability has not been adequately addressed by prior studies. This study develops a set of valid and reliable social sustainability indicators for assessing green buildings in China. Green building indicators are needed to validate various studies and assist practitioners in understanding social sustainability indicators. Hence, these indicators are analyzed using the fuzzy Delphi method. The results show that safety and durability are the most important aspects of green building social sustainability. Other key aspects are health and comfort, and accessibility and convenience. This set of indicators facilitates decision-making processes for practitioners and provides suitable practical guidelines for different stakeholders to allow social sustainability to be achieved.
