Drawing on the metaphor of "care convoys," this study explores the experiences and strategies of family caregivers of older adults with dementia in rural areas of Northern Norway. The study is part of a broader project that investigates how these older adults and their caregivers use or do not use municipal health and care services. We conducted qualitative in‐depth interviews with 11 family caregivers in rural municipalities. The thematic analysis of the interview data yielded three main themes: Delaying the transition to long‐term care amid evolving needs, facilitating knowledge transition, and navigating divergent expectations about involvement. In addition, a fourth theme, caregiving in the rural Arctic, was identified as cross‐cutting, reflecting the unique rural Arctic context that was a backdrop across all themes. In navigating the caregiving journey, family caregivers assume various roles within care convoys. They may act as solitary vessels, as an integral part of a larger care convoy, or as the main ship guiding the convoy. At times, family caregivers serve as vessels called upon by the convoy when needed. Difficulties in assembling an adequate or robust care convoy were exacerbated by the context of the Artic North, which represents treacherous waters for the convoy to navigate, primarily due to two factors: first, many of the smaller ships (other family members) were not present or had to travel great distances to join the convoy and second, the lengthy journeys (long travel distances), and particularly in the winter time, made the convoys susceptible to loosing ships along the way. In the education sector, media outlets have been increasingly active in reporting on standardized testing. The purpose of this paper is to identify the most recurrent discursive frames used by the Norwegian regional and local press when informing their readers about national standardized testing, and to explore whether differences over time and across geographical localities exist in the pervasiveness of frames. Our analysis is guided by framing theory, and builds on a corpus of 3,046 articles that focus on national testing, published by 155 Norwegian regional and local newspapers between 2004 and 2018. The analysis identifies four different discursive frames within Norwegian press coverage, namely the frame of 'performance', 'transparency and empowerment', 'misinterpretation and misuse', and 'criticism'. The four frames convey highly distinct causal and normative beliefs and realities about national standardized testing. While the dominance of the frames varies over time and across Norwegian counties, the frame of 'performance' is increasingly pervasive, something that potentially contributes to naturalize performative-oriented reporting and competition in education. The study highlights the importance of systematic media analyses to identify circulating principle beliefs on education, and of not limiting research to national newspapers in order to grasp geographical variation in media coverage. Foraging by consumers acts as a biotic filtering mechanism for biodiversity at the trophic level of resources. Variation in foraging behaviour has cascading effects on abundance, diversity, and functional trait composition of the community of resource species. Here we propose diversity at giving‐up density (DivGUD), i.e. when foragers quit exploiting a patch, as a novel concept and simple measure quantifying cascading effects at multiple spatial scales. In experimental landscapes with an assemblage of plant seeds, patch residency of wild rodents decreased local α‐DivGUD (via elevated mortality of species with large seeds) and regional γ‐DivGUD, while dissimilarity among patches in a landscape (ß‐DivGUD) increased. By linking theories of adaptive foraging behaviour with community ecology, DivGUD allows to investigate cascading indirect predation effects, e.g. the ecology‐of‐fear framework, feedbacks between functional trait composition of resource species and consumer communities, and effects of inter‐individual differences among foragers on the biodiversity of resource communities.
