Baroreflex is critical to maintain the blood pressure homeostasis, and the quantification of the baroreflex regulation function (BRF) can provide guidance for disease diagnosis, treatment and healthcare. Current quantification of the BRF such as baroreflex sensitivity cannot represent the BRF systematically. From the perspective of complex systems, we regard that the BRF is the emergence result of the diverse states and interactions in the physiological mechanisms. Therefore, the three-layer emergence is constructed in this work, which is from the physiological mechanisms to the physiological indexes and then to the BRF. On this basis, since the entropy in statistical physics macroscopically measures the diversity of the system's states, a new index called the PhysioEnt is proposed to represent the BRF and quantify the physical relationships between the BRF and four physiological indexes, baroreflex sensitivity, heart rate, heart rate variability, and systolic blood pressure. Based on the proposed method, some new findings with medical significance are obtained, including the mechanisms that aging and obesity affect the resting-condition BRF are different, and the resting-condition BRFs of men and older people depend more on the physiological processes among organs/tissues. Unlike low temperature superconducting cables, there is so far no perfect solution for REBCO coated conductors to form a fully transposed high current cable. Every REBCO cable concept must import a stack of tapes to achieve an operating current as high as tens of kiloamperes. The stacked REBCO tapes, no matter whether they are twisted or not, however, have a nature of non-transposing and therefore could result in current unbalance. In this manuscript, the current unbalance and the related electrical characteristics of a cable made of 40 stacked REBCO tapes are studied with an electrical circuit simulation. The differences in splice resistances and tape inductances that are both related to the non-transposed structure of a REBCO stack are considered. Results show that for a 40 cm long termination, a proper method to keep the contact resistivity between each tape and the copper termination around 1e-8 ohmm is crucial to totally avoid current unbalance lowering the cable performance. Surprisingly, the inter-tape current transfer is found to be able to further exacerbate local high current though it does make the overall distribution more balanced. The inductance difference induced current unbalance is only important if local defects exist at long REBCO tapes, which on the other hand can be cured by good inter-tape current transfer. For a fast-charging rate of 1 kA/s, the inter-tape contact resistivity should also be low to a level of 1e-8 ohmm to ensure a short current transfer length of around 1 m.

Neural style transfer (NST) can create impressive artworks by transferring reference style to content image. Current image-to-image NST methods are short of fine-grained controls, which are often demanded by artistic editing. To mitigate this limitation, we propose a drawing-like interactive style transfer (IST) method, by which users can interactively create a harmonious-style image. Our IST method can serve as a brush, dip style from anywhere, and then paint to any region of the target content image. To determine the action scope, we formulate a fluid simulation algorithm, which takes styles as pigments around the position of brush interaction, and diffusion in style or content images according to the similarity maps. Our IST method expands the creative dimension of NST. By dipping and painting, even employing one style image can produce thousands of eye-catching works. Dynamic relation repair aims to efficiently validate and repair the instances for knowledge graph enhancement (KGE), where KGE captures missing relations from unstructured data and leads to noisy facts to the knowledge graph. With the prosperity of unstructured data, an online approach is asked to clean the new RDF tuples before adding them to the knowledge base. To clean the noisy RDF tuples, graph constraint processing is a common but intractable approach. Plus, when adding new tuples to the knowledge graph, new graph patterns would be created, whereas the explicit discovery of graph constraints is also intractable. Therefore, although the dynamic relation repair has an unfortunate hardness, it is a necessary approach for enhancing knowledge graphs effectively under the fast-growing unstructured data. Motivated by this, we establish a dynamic repairing and enhancing structure to analyze its hardness on basic operations. To ensure dynamic repair and validation, we introduce implicit graph constraints, approximate graph matching, and linkage prediction based on localized graph patterns. To validate and repair the RDF tuples efficiently, we further study the cold start problems for graph constraint processing. Degeneration and adaptation are two competing sides of the same coin called resilience in the progressive processes of brain aging or diseases. Degeneration accumulates during brain aging and other cerebral activities, causing structural atrophy and dysfunction. At the same time, adaptation allows brain network reorganize to compensate for structural loss to maintain cognition function. Although hidden resilience mechanism is critical and fundamental to uncover the brain aging law, due to the lack of datasets and appropriate methodology, it remains essentially unknown how these two processes interact dynamically across brain networks. To quantitatively investigate this complex process, we analyze aging brains based on 6-year follow-up multimodal neuroimaging database from 63 persons. We reveal the critical mechanism of network resilience that various perturbation may cause fast brain structural atrophy, and then brain can reorganize its functional layout to lower its operational efficiency, which helps to slow down the structural atrophy and finally recover its functional efficiency equilibrium. This empirical finding could be explained by our theoretical model, suggesting one universal resilience dynamical function. This resilience is achieved in the brain functional network with evolving percolation and rich-club features. A compact HTS cable that is able to carry large current density is crucial for developing high field accelerator magnets. We are reporting a novel HTS cable (named X-cable) that could achieve a high current density as the Roebel cable, but is implemented by in-plane bending stacked HTS tapes directly to realize the transposition. The cable is jointly developed with an industrial company on a production line: ready for large scale production from the beginning. Recently, a prototype cable with REBCO coated conductor has been successfully fabricated. Test results show no significant degradation, demonstrated the feasibility of such cable concept. Protecting a high temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet from a quench event is a challenging task. Because of the slow normal zone propagation velocity, the long reliable quench detection method by directly monitoring coil voltage may not be timely for HTS anymore, leaving HTS magnets under danger of overheating. Using a NbTi low temperature superconducting (LTS) wire to detect quench in coils wound with ReBCO HTS tapes have recently been experimentally proved, yet a theoretical study is still needed to further develop this technique and make it prepared to be applied more generally in high field magnets. In this manuscript, we have demonstrated that it is the significant difference in the temperature dependence of critical current between LTS and HTS but not the normal zone propagation velocity (NZPV), that makes LTSs good quench detectors. Simulations show that LTS quench detectors should have low matrix fraction or high matrix resistivity. At last, at field up to 15 T or 20 T, Nb3Sn is proven to be a good quench detector.
