Reading is as well as language teaching it is tool for acquiring knowledge and learning. Students' acquisition of necessary skills for their linguistic, cognitive and affective development can be achieved by making reading skills a habit. For this reason, reading habits have an important place in the academic, social, individual development and progress targeted by the education system for students at all levels of formal education. The purpose of this research, is to examine the findings obtained from the studies on the reading habits of the students studying in primary secondary and higher education intitutions in the Turkish publication literature between the years 1990-2020, using with the meta-synthesis method. Within the scope of the inclusion criteria determined in this research, the data of the postgraduate thesis, article and notice studies related to the reading habits of the students in Turkey with qualitative and quantitative method were collected and analyzed in accordance with the meta-synthesis research method. The examination and analysis of the collected research data was carried out according to the application/analysis stage of the meta-synthesis method. The findings obtained as a result of the meta-synthesis study are as follows: In Turkey, students mainly read in order to increase their accumulation of knowledge, academic success and to spend their spare time. Students do not have adequate reading habits in Turkey. Students use libraries mostly. However, the use of the library does not usually play a positive role in helping students acquire reading habits. Course load/exams, watching television and using computers are standing out as obstacles to students' reading habits. Parents and teachers are mostly effective on students' reading habits. The fact that, students spend more time watching television and playing games on the computer/internet than reading, affects their reading habits negatively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
