This study aimed to develop a useful test to measure university students’ spatial abilities validly and reliably. Following a sequential explanatory mixed methods research design, first, qualitative methods were used to develop the trial items for the test; next, the psychometric properties of the test were analyzed through quantitative methods using data obtained from 456 university students. As a result, a multiple-choice spatial ability test with 27 items and five options was created, divided into three subtests: spatial relations, spatial visualization, and spatial orientation. The results suggested that scores obtained from the spatial ability test and its subtests are valid and reliable.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin orantısal akıl yürütme becerilerini, olasılıksal akıl yürütme becerilerini ve problem çözme sürecinde üstbilişsel öz düzenlemelerine ilişkin farkındalıklarını belirlemek ve aralarındaki ilişkileri araştırmaktır. Ayrıca öğrencilerin orantısal ve olasılıksal akıl yürütme becerileri ile üstbilişsel öz düzenlemelerine ilişkin farkındalıklarını cinsiyet ve matematiksel yeterlik algısı değişkenleri açısından incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada betimsel tarama modeli ve ilişkisel tarama modellerinden nedensel karşılaştırma ve korelasyonel yaklaşım kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 315 sekizinci sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Orantısal Akıl Yürütme Beceri Testi, Olasılıksal Akıl Yürütme Beceri Testi ve Üstbilişsel Öz düzenleme Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Yapılan betimsel analizler sonucunda 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin orantısal akıl yürütme beceri puanlarının orta düzeyde, olasılıksal akıl yürütme beceri puanlarının düşük düzeyde ve üstbilişsel öz düzenleme farkındalık puanlarının yeterli düzeyde olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Yapılan fark analizi sonuçlarına göre cinsiyet değişkeni açısından öğrencilerin orantısal ve olasılıksal akıl yürütme beceri puanları ile üstbilişsel öz düzenleme farkındalık puanlarında anlamlı bir fark olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Matematiksel yeterlik değişkeni açısından ise öğrencilerin orantısal ve olasılıksal akıl yürütme beceri puanları ile üstbilişsel öz düzenleme farkındalık puanlarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin orantısal akıl yürütme beceri düzeyleri, olasılıksal akıl yürütme beceri düzeyleri ve üstbilişsel öz düzenlemelerine ilişkin farkındalık düzeyleri arasında anlamlı ilişkiler olduğu belirlenmiştir.

The study aims to develop the Problem-Oriented Self-Efficacy Perception Scale for Mathematical Creativity to determine the pre-service mathematics teachers’ mathematical creativity self-efficacy perception in a valid and reliable way. The exploratory sequential mixed method was preferred for the research. In the research, while qualitative procedures were followed during the item pool preparation, the scales' psychometric properties were researched using quantitative methods. The convenience sampling method was used to determine the participants. The research was conducted with primary school pre-service mathematics teachers studying in four state urban universities in three different regions (Black Sea Region, Eastern Anatolia Region, Southeastern Anatolia Region) of Turkey. The first study group constituted of three hundred eleven pre-service mathematics teachers while the second study group three hundred sixty-four pre-service mathematics teachers. As a result of the research, a 3-factor structure consisting of fluency, flexibility, and originality factors, and explaining 61.527% of the total variance was obtained. Validity and reliability calculations of the scale consisting of 21 items in 5-point Likert type resulted positively.
