Generating high-fidelity, temporally consistent videos in autonomous driving scenarios faces a significant challenge, e.g. problematic maneuvers in corner cases. Despite recent video generation works are proposed to tackcle the mentioned problem, i.e. models built on top of Diffusion Transformers (DiT), works are still missing which are targeted on exploring the potential for multi-view videos generation scenarios. Noticeably, we propose the first DiT-based framework specifically designed for generating temporally and multi-view consistent videos which precisely match the given bird's-eye view layouts control. Specifically, the proposed framework leverages a parameter-free spatial view-inflated attention mechanism to guarantee the cross-view consistency, where joint cross-attention modules and ControlNet-Transformer are integrated to further improve the precision of control. To demonstrate our advantages, we extensively investigate the qualitative comparisons on nuScenes dataset, particularly in some most challenging corner cases. In summary, the effectiveness of our proposed method in producing long, controllable, and highly consistent videos under difficult conditions is proven to be effective.

Context. We have developed deep learning (DL) and AI-based tools to search extant narrow-band wide-field H$\alpha$ surveys of the Galactic Plane for elusive planetary nebulae (PNe) which are hidden in dense star fields towards the Galactic center. They are faint, low-surface brightness, usually resolved sources, which are not discovered by previous automatic searches that depend on photometric data for point-like sources. These sources are very challenging to find by traditional visual inspection in such crowded fields and many have been missed. We have successfully adopted a novel 'Swin-Transformer' AI algorithm, which we described in detail in the preceding Techniques paper (Paper I). Aims. Here, we present preliminary results from our first spectroscopic follow-up run for 31 top-quality PN candidates found by the algorithm from the high-resolution H$\alpha$ survey VPHAS+. This survey has not yet undergone extensive manual, systematic searching. Methods. Our candidate PNe were observed with the SpUpNIC spectrograph on the 1.9 m telescope at the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) in June 2023. We performed standard IRAF spectroscopic reduction and then followed our normal HASH PN identification and classification procedures. Results. Our reduced spectra confirmed that these candidates include 22 true, likely, and possible PNe (70.97\%), 3 emission-line galaxies, 2 emission-line stars, 2 late-type star contaminants, and 2 other H$\alpha$ sources including a newly identified detached fragment of SNR RCW 84. We present the imaging and spectral data of these candidates and a preliminary analysis of their properties. These data provide strong input to help evaluate and refine the behavior of the AI algorithm when searching for PNe in wide-field H$\alpha$ surveys.

Deep learning-based ISP algorithms have demonstrated significant potential in raw2rgb reconstruction. However, existing networks have not fully considered the specific characteristics of raw data, such as black level and CFA, which can negatively impact texture and color if mishandled. Moreover, uneven exposure in raw data is also not considered carefully, leading to adverse effects on contrast and brightness. In this paper, we introduce RMFA-Net to tackle these problems. We perform implicit black level correction to mitigate color shifts in dim scenes. To preserve high-frequency information and prevent misalignment, we propose a novel Three-Channel-Split mode. To address the issue of uneven exposure, we designed an explicit tone mapping module based on the Retinex theory. We train and evaluate our models using the dataset released by the Mobile AI 2022 Learned Smartphone ISP Challenge. It is demonstrated that RMFA-Net outperforms previous algorithms, achieving a PSNR score of over 25 dB, surpassing the state-of-the-art by +1 dB. Furthermore, we developed a lightweight version, RMFANet-tiny, for engineering deployment while still maintaining strong performance, surpassing the SOTA by +0.5 dB.

Lepton flavor violation (LFV) represents a clear new physics (NP) signal beyond the standard model (SM). In this paper, we study LFV decays $Z\rightarrow l^{\pm}_{i}l^{\mp}_{j}$ in the B-L Supersymmetric Standard Model(B-LSSM). We calculate these processes separately in the mass eigenstate basis and the electroweak interaction basis, and the latter adopt the mass insertion approximation (MIA) method. The MIA clearly shows the effect of parameters on the LFV decays $Z\rightarrow l^{\pm}_{i}l^{\mp}_{j}$ in the analytic level, which provides a new way for us to analyze the LFV processes. At the same time, the corresponding constraints from the LFV decays $l^{-}_{j} \rightarrow l^{-}_{i} \gamma$ and $(g-2)_{\mu}$ are considered to analyze the numerical results.

3D multiple object tracking (MOT) plays a crucial role in autonomous driving perception. Recent end-to-end query-based trackers simultaneously detect and track objects, which have shown promising potential for the 3D MOT task. However, existing methods overlook the uncertainty issue, which refers to the lack of precise confidence about the state and location of tracked objects. Uncertainty arises owing to various factors during motion observation by cameras, especially occlusions and the small size of target objects, resulting in an inaccurate estimation of the object's position, label, and identity. To this end, we propose an Uncertainty-Aware 3D MOT framework, UA-Track, which tackles the uncertainty problem from multiple aspects. Specifically, we first introduce an Uncertainty-aware Probabilistic Decoder to capture the uncertainty in object prediction with probabilistic attention. Secondly, we propose an Uncertainty-guided Query Denoising strategy to further enhance the training process. We also utilize Uncertainty-reduced Query Initialization, which leverages predicted 2D object location and depth information to reduce query uncertainty. As a result, our UA-Track achieves state-of-the-art performance on the nuScenes benchmark, i.e., 66.3% AMOTA on the test split, surpassing the previous best end-to-end solution by a significant margin of 8.9% AMOTA.

Using generative models to synthesize new data has become a de-facto standard in autonomous driving to address the data scarcity issue. Though existing approaches are able to boost perception models, we discover that these approaches fail to improve the performance of planning of end-to-end autonomous driving models as the generated videos are usually less than 8 frames and the spatial and temporal inconsistencies are not negligible. To this end, we propose Delphi, a novel diffusion-based long video generation method with a shared noise modeling mechanism across the multi-views to increase spatial consistency, and a feature-aligned module to achieves both precise controllability and temporal consistency. Our method can generate up to 40 frames of video without loss of consistency which is about 5 times longer compared with state-of-the-art methods. Instead of randomly generating new data, we further design a sampling policy to let Delphi generate new data that are similar to those failure cases to improve the sample efficiency. This is achieved by building a failure-case driven framework with the help of pre-trained visual language models. Our extensive experiment demonstrates that our Delphi generates a higher quality of long videos surpassing previous state-of-the-art methods. Consequentially, with only generating 4% of the training dataset size, our framework is able to go beyond perception and prediction tasks, for the first time to the best of our knowledge, boost the planning performance of the end-to-end autonomous driving model by a margin of 25%., Comment: Project Page: https://westlake-autolab.github.io/delphi.github.io/, 8 figures

The study of kagome materials has attracted much attention in the past few years due to the presence of many electron-electron interaction-driven phases in a single material.In this work, we report the discovery of intrinsic spin-polarized p-wave superconductivity in the thin-flake kagome material RbV$_3$Sb$_5$. Firstly, when an in-plane magnetic field is swept in opposite directions, we observe a unique form of hysteresis in magnetoresistance which is different from the hysteresis induced by extrinsic mechanisms such as flux-trapping or superheating and supercooling effects. The unconventional hysteresis indicates the emergence of an intrinsic time-reversal symmetry-breaking superconducting phase. Strikingly, at a fixed magnetic field, the finite-resistance state can be quenched to the zero-resistance state by applying a large current. Secondly, at temperatures around 400 mK, the re-entrance of superconductivity occurs during an in-plane field-sweeping process with a fixed sweeping direction. This kind of re-entrance is asymmetric about the zero field axis and observed in all field directions for a fixed current direction, which is different from the re-entrance observed in conventional superconductors. Moreover, the angle-dependent in-plane critical field measurements reveal a two-fold symmetry that deviates from the original, centrosymmetric D$_{6h}$ point group symmetry of the crystal. These findings put very strong constraints on the possible superconducting pairing symmetry of RbV$_3$Sb$_5$. We point out that the pairing symmetry, which is consistent with the crystal symmetry and all the observed novel properties, is a time-reversal symmetry-breaking, p-wave pairing with net spin polarization. The exponential growth of astronomical datasets provides an unprecedented opportunity for humans to gain insight into the Universe. However, effectively analyzing this vast amount of data poses a significant challenge. Astronomers are turning to deep learning techniques to address this, but the methods are limited by their specific training sets, leading to considerable duplicate workloads too. Hence, as an example to present how to overcome the issue, we built a framework for general analysis of galaxy images, based on a large vision model (LVM) plus downstream tasks (DST), including galaxy morphological classification, image restoration, object detection, parameter extraction, and more. Considering the low signal-to-noise ratio of galaxy images and the imbalanced distribution of galaxy categories, we have incorporated a Human-in-the-loop (HITL) module into our large vision model, which leverages human knowledge to enhance the reliability and interpretability of processing galaxy images interactively. The proposed framework exhibits notable few-shot learning capabilities and versatile adaptability to all the abovementioned tasks on galaxy images in the DESI legacy imaging surveys. Expressly, for object detection, trained by 1000 data points, our DST upon the LVM achieves an accuracy of 96.7%, while ResNet50 plus Mask R-CNN gives an accuracy of 93.1%; for morphology classification, to obtain AUC ~0.9, LVM plus DST and HITL only requests 1/50 training sets compared to ResNet18. With the growing amount of astronomical data, there is an increasing need for automated data processing pipelines, which can extract scientific information from observation data without human interventions. A critical aspect of these pipelines is the image quality evaluation and masking algorithm, which evaluates image qualities based on various factors such as cloud coverage, sky brightness, scattering light from the optical system, point spread function size and shape, and read-out noise. Occasionally, the algorithm requires masking of areas severely affected by noise. However, the algorithm often necessitates significant human interventions, reducing data processing efficiency. In this study, we present a deep learning based image quality evaluation algorithm that uses an autoencoder to learn features of high quality astronomical images. The trained autoencoder enables automatic evaluation of image quality and masking of noise affected areas. We have evaluated the performance of our algorithm using two test cases: images with point spread functions of varying full width half magnitude, and images with complex backgrounds. In the first scenario, our algorithm could effectively identify variations of the point spread functions, which can provide valuable reference information for photometry. In the second scenario, our method could successfully mask regions affected by complex regions, which could significantly increase the photometry accuracy. Driving in an off-road environment is challenging for autonomous vehicles due to the complex and varied terrain. To ensure stable and efficient travel, the vehicle requires consideration and balancing of environmental factors, such as undulations, roughness, and obstacles, to generate optimal trajectories that can adapt to changing scenarios. However, traditional motion planners often utilize a fixed cost function for trajectory optimization, making it difficult to adapt to different driving strategies in challenging irregular terrains and uncommon scenarios. To address these issues, we propose an adaptive motion planner based on human-like cognition and cost evaluation for off-road driving. First, we construct a multi-layer map describing different features of off-road terrains, including terrain elevation, roughness, obstacle, and artificial potential field map. Subsequently, we employ a CNN-LSTM network to learn the trajectories planned by human drivers in various off-road scenarios. Then, based on human-like generated trajectories in different environments, we design a primitive-based trajectory planner that aims to mimic human trajectories and cost weight selection, generating trajectories that are consistent with the dynamics of off-road vehicles. Finally, we compute optimal cost weights and select and extend behavioral primitives to generate highly adaptive, stable, and efficient trajectories. We validate the effectiveness of the proposed method through experiments in a desert off-road environment with complex terrain and varying road conditions. The experimental results show that the proposed human-like motion planner has excellent adaptability to different off-road conditions. It shows real-time operation, greater stability, and more human-like planning ability in diverse and challenging scenarios.

Giant planets like Jupiter and Saturn, play important roles in the formation and habitability of Earth-like planets. The detection of solar system analogs that have multiple cold giant planets is essential for our understanding of planet habitability and planet formation. Although transit surveys such as Kepler and TESS have discovered thousands of exoplanets, these missions are not sensitive to long period planets due to their limited observation baseline. The Tianyu project, comprising two 1-meter telescopes (Tianyu-I and II), is designed to detect transiting cold giant planets in order to find solar system analogs. Featuring a large field of view and equipped with a high-speed CMOS camera, Tianyu-I will perform a high-precision photometric survey of about 100 million stars, measuring light curves at hour-long cadence. The candidates found by Tianyu-I will be confirmed by Tianyu-II and other surveys and follow-up facilities through multi-band photometry, spectroscopy, and high resolution imaging. Tianyu telescopes will be situated at an elevation about 4000 meters in Lenghu, China. With a photometric precision of 1% for stars with V < 18 mag, Tianyu is expected to find more than 300 transiting exoplanets, including about 12 cold giant planets, over five years. A five-year survey of Tianyu would discover 1-2 solar system analogs. Moreover, Tianyu is also designed for non-exoplanetary exploration, incorporating multiple survey modes covering timescales from sub-seconds to months, with a particular emphasis on events occurring within the sub-second to hour range. It excels in observing areas such as infant supernovae, rare variable stars and binaries, tidal disruption events, Be stars, cometary activities, and interstellar objects. Strong gravitational lensing is a powerful tool for investigating dark matter and dark energy properties. With the advent of large-scale sky surveys, we can discover strong lensing systems on an unprecedented scale, which requires efficient tools to extract them from billions of astronomical objects. The existing mainstream lens-finding tools are based on machine learning algorithms and applied to cut-out-centered galaxies. However, according to the design and survey strategy of optical surveys by CSST, preparing cutouts with multiple bands requires considerable efforts. To overcome these challenges, we have developed a framework based on a hierarchical visual Transformer with a sliding window technique to search for strong lensing systems within entire images. Moreover, given that multi-color images of strong lensing systems can provide insights into their physical characteristics, our framework is specifically crafted to identify strong lensing systems in images with any number of channels. As evaluated using CSST mock data based on an Semi-Analytic Model named CosmoDC2, our framework achieves precision and recall rates of 0.98 and 0.90, respectively. To evaluate the effectiveness of our method in real observations, we have applied it to a subset of images from the DESI Legacy Imaging Surveys and media images from Euclid Early Release Observations. 61 new strong lensing system candidates are discovered by our method. However, we also identified false positives arising primarily from the simplified galaxy morphology assumptions within the simulation. 3D dense captioning stands as a cornerstone in achieving a comprehensive understanding of 3D scenes through natural language. It has recently witnessed remarkable achievements, particularly in indoor settings. However, the exploration of 3D dense captioning in outdoor scenes is hindered by two major challenges: 1) the domain gap between indoor and outdoor scenes, such as dynamics and sparse visual inputs, makes it difficult to directly adapt existing indoor methods; 2) the lack of data with comprehensive box-caption pair annotations specifically tailored for outdoor scenes. To this end, we introduce the new task of outdoor 3D dense captioning. As input, we assume a LiDAR point cloud and a set of RGB images captured by the panoramic camera rig. The expected output is a set of object boxes with captions. To tackle this task, we propose the TOD3Cap network, which leverages the BEV representation to generate object box proposals and integrates Relation Q-Former with LLaMA-Adapter to generate rich captions for these objects. We also introduce the TOD3Cap dataset, the largest one to our knowledge for 3D dense captioning in outdoor scenes, which contains 2.3M descriptions of 64.3K outdoor objects from 850 scenes. Notably, our TOD3Cap network can effectively localize and caption 3D objects in outdoor scenes, which outperforms baseline methods by a significant margin (+9.6 CiDEr@0.5IoU). In recent years, there has been a gradual increase in the performance of Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) cameras. These cameras have gained popularity as a viable alternative to charge-coupled device (CCD) cameras in a wide range of applications. One particular application is the CMOS camera installed in small space telescopes. However, the limited power and spatial resources available on satellites present challenges in maintaining ideal observation conditions, including temperature and radiation environment. Consequently, images captured by CMOS cameras are susceptible to issues such as dark current noise and defective pixels. In this paper, we introduce a data-driven framework for mitigating dark current noise and bad pixels for CMOS cameras. Our approach involves two key steps: pixel clustering and function fitting. During pixel clustering step, we identify and group pixels exhibiting similar dark current noise properties. Subsequently, in the function fitting step, we formulate functions that capture the relationship between dark current and temperature, as dictated by the Arrhenius law. Our framework leverages ground-based test data to establish distinct temperature-dark current relations for pixels within different clusters. The cluster results could then be utilized to estimate the dark current noise level and detect bad pixels from real observational data. To assess the effectiveness of our approach, we have conducted tests using real observation data obtained from the Yangwang-1 satellite, equipped with a near-ultraviolet telescope and an optical telescope. Superconductors play a crucial role in the advancement of high-field electromagnets. Unfortunately, their performance can be compromised by thermomagnetic instabilities, wherein the interplay of rapid magnetic and slow heat diffusion can result in catastrophic flux jumps eventually leading to irreversible damage. This issue has long plagued high-$J_c$ Nb$_3$Sn wires at the core of high-field magnets. In this study, we introduce a groundbreaking large-scale GPU-optimized algorithm aimed at tackling the complex intertwined effects of electromagnetism, heating, and strain acting concomitantly during the quenching process of superconducting coils. We validate our model by conducting comparisons with magnetization measurements obtained from short multifilamentary Nb$_3$Sn wires and further experimental tests conducted on solenoid coils while subject to ramping transport currents. Furthermore, leveraging our developed numerical algorithm, we unveil the dynamic propagation mechanisms underlying thermomagnetic instabilities (including flux jumps and quenches) within the coils. Remarkably, our findings reveal that the velocity field of flux jumps and quenches within the coil is correlated with the amount of Joule heating experienced by each wire over a specific time interval, rather than solely being dependent on instantaneous Joule heating or maximum temperature. These insights have the potential to pave the way for optimizing the design of next-generation superconducting magnets, thereby directly influencing a wide array of technologically relevant and multidisciplinary applications.

Charged lepton flavor violation (CLFV) represents a clear new physics (NP) signal beyond the standard model (SM). In this work, we investigate CLFV processes $l_j^-\rightarrow l_i^- \gamma$ utilizing mass insertion approximation(MIA) in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the SM with local B-L gauge symmetry (B-LSSM). The MIA method can provide a set of simple analytic formulae for the form factors and the associated effective vertices, so that the movement of the CLFV decays $l_j^-\rightarrow l_i^- \gamma$ with the sensitive parameters will be intuitively analyzed. Considering the SM-like Higgs boson mass and the muon anomalous dipole moment (MDM) within $4\sigma$, $3\sigma$ and $2\sigma$ regions, we discuss the corresponding constraints on the relevant parameter space of the model., Comment: to be published in Physical Review D

In the field of digital content creation, generating high-quality 3D characters from single images is challenging, especially given the complexities of various body poses and the issues of self-occlusion and pose ambiguity. In this paper, we present CharacterGen, a framework developed to efficiently generate 3D characters. CharacterGen introduces a streamlined generation pipeline along with an image-conditioned multi-view diffusion model. This model effectively calibrates input poses to a canonical form while retaining key attributes of the input image, thereby addressing the challenges posed by diverse poses. A transformer-based, generalizable sparse-view reconstruction model is the other core component of our approach, facilitating the creation of detailed 3D models from multi-view images. We also adopt a texture-back-projection strategy to produce high-quality texture maps. Additionally, we have curated a dataset of anime characters, rendered in multiple poses and views, to train and evaluate our model. Our approach has been thoroughly evaluated through quantitative and qualitative experiments, showing its proficiency in generating 3D characters with high-quality shapes and textures, ready for downstream applications such as rigging and animation.

A primary hurdle of autonomous driving in urban environments is understanding complex and long-tail scenarios, such as challenging road conditions and delicate human behaviors. We introduce DriveVLM, an autonomous driving system leveraging Vision-Language Models (VLMs) for enhanced scene understanding and planning capabilities. DriveVLM integrates a unique combination of reasoning modules for scene description, scene analysis, and hierarchical planning. Furthermore, recognizing the limitations of VLMs in spatial reasoning and heavy computational requirements, we propose DriveVLM-Dual, a hybrid system that synergizes the strengths of DriveVLM with the traditional autonomous driving pipeline. Experiments on both the nuScenes dataset and our SUP-AD dataset demonstrate the efficacy of DriveVLM and DriveVLM-Dual in handling complex and unpredictable driving conditions. Charged lepton flavor violation (CLFV) represents a clear new physics (NP) signal beyond the standard model (SM). In this work, we investigate the CLFV decays of vector mesons $V\rightarrow l_i^{\pm}l_j^{\mp}$ with $V\in\{\phi, J/\Psi, \Upsilon(1S), \Upsilon(2S),\Upsilon(3S)\}$ in the $\mathrm{U}(1)_{X} \mathrm{SSM}$. Considering the SM-like Higgs boson mass within $3\sigma$ region, we discuss the corresponding constraints on the relevant parameter space of the model, which indicate this model can produce significant contributions to such CLFV decays. From the numerical analyses, the main sensitive parameters and CLFV sources originate from the non-diagonal elements correspond to the initial and final generations of the leptons. And the branching ratios to these CLFV processes can easily reach the present experimental upper bounds. Therefore, searching for CLFV processes of vector mesons may be an effective channel to study new physics.

Large-scale 3D scene reconstruction and novel view synthesis are vital for autonomous vehicles, especially utilizing temporally sparse LiDAR frames. However, conventional explicit representations remain a significant bottleneck towards representing the reconstructed and synthetic scenes at unlimited resolution. Although the recently developed neural radiance fields (NeRF) have shown compelling results in implicit representations, the problem of large-scale 3D scene reconstruction and novel view synthesis using sparse LiDAR frames remains unexplored. To bridge this gap, we propose a 3D scene reconstruction and novel view synthesis framework called parent-child neural radiance field (PC-NeRF). Based on its two modules, parent NeRF and child NeRF, the framework implements hierarchical spatial partitioning and multi-level scene representation, including scene, segment, and point levels. The multi-level scene representation enhances the efficient utilization of sparse LiDAR point cloud data and enables the rapid acquisition of an approximate volumetric scene representation. With extensive experiments, PC-NeRF is proven to achieve high-precision novel LiDAR view synthesis and 3D reconstruction in large-scale scenes. Moreover, PC-NeRF can effectively handle situations with sparse LiDAR frames and demonstrate high deployment efficiency with limited training epochs. We present a comprehensive investigation on the mass function (MF) of a snake-like stellar structure in the solar neighbourhood, building on our previous discovery. To ensure the reliability of the data, we reselect the member stars of the Stellar ``Snake'' in the latest {\it Gaia} Data Release 3 using the same approach as the initial series of articles. We also precisely measure the physical parameters of the clusters within the Stellar Snake. In light of the high completeness of the member stars in the cluster regions, we develop a simulated model color-magnitude diagram-based inference method to derive the mass function, binary fraction, and mass-ratio distribution of the clusters in the Stellar Snake. Notably, despite their similar ages and metallicity, we discover systematic variations in the MFs along the elongation direction of the Snake in the mass range of 0.5 to 2.0 M$_\odot$. The ``head'' of the Snake conforms to a canonical initial mass function with a power-law slope of $\alpha\sim-2.3$. Extending towards the ``tail,'' the MF becomes more top-light, indicating a deficiency of massive stars within these clusters. This result provides evidence for the delayed formation of massive stars in the clusters. The pulse widths of fast radio bursts are always broadened due to the scattering of the plasma medium through which the electromagnetic wave passes. The recorded pulse width will be further affected by the radio telescopes since the sampling time and the bandwidth cannot be infinitely small. In this study, we focus on the pulse widths of the 3287 bursts detected from FRB 20121102A as of October 2023. Various effects such as the scattering broadening, the redshift broadening and the instrumental broadening are examined. It is found that the instrumental broadening only contributes a fraction of $10^{-3}$--$10^{-1}$ to the observed pulse width. The scattering broadening is even smaller, which constitutes a tiny fraction of $10^{-5}$--$10^{-2}$ in the observed pulse width. After correcting for these broadenings, the intrinsic pulse width is derived for each burst. The maximum and minimum pulse widths at different frequencies are highlighted. Interestingly, both the mean value and the dispersion range of intrinsic pulse width are found to be inversely proportional to the square of the central frequency. The intrinsic widths of most bursts are in a narrow range of 1--10 ms, which leads to a quasi-linear correlation between the fluence and the peak flux.

The rapid development of the autonomous driving industry has led to a significant accumulation of autonomous driving data. Consequently, there comes a growing demand for retrieving data to provide specialized optimization. However, directly applying previous image retrieval methods faces several challenges, such as the lack of global feature representation and inadequate text retrieval ability for complex driving scenes. To address these issues, firstly, we propose the BEV-TSR framework which leverages descriptive text as an input to retrieve corresponding scenes in the Bird's Eye View (BEV) space. Then to facilitate complex scene retrieval with extensive text descriptions, we employ a large language model (LLM) to extract the semantic features of the text inputs and incorporate knowledge graph embeddings to enhance the semantic richness of the language embedding. To achieve feature alignment between the BEV feature and language embedding, we propose Shared Cross-modal Embedding with a set of shared learnable embeddings to bridge the gap between these two modalities, and employ a caption generation task to further enhance the alignment. Furthermore, there lack of well-formed retrieval datasets for effective evaluation. To this end, we establish a multi-level retrieval dataset, nuScenes-Retrieval, based on the widely adopted nuScenes dataset. Experimental results on the multi-level nuScenes-Retrieval show that BEV-TSR achieves state-of-the-art performance, e.g., 85.78% and 87.66% top-1 accuracy on scene-to-text and text-to-scene retrieval respectively. With the global spread and increasing transmission rate of SARS-CoV-2, more and more laboratories and researchers are turning their attention to wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE), hoping it can become an effective tool for large-scale testing and provide more ac-curate predictions of the number of infected individuals. Based on the cases of sewage sampling and testing in some regions such as Hong Kong, Brazil, and the United States, the feasibility of detecting the novel coronavirus in sewage is extremely high. This study re-views domestic and international achievements in detecting SARS-CoV-2 through WBE and summarizes four aspects of COVID-19, including sampling methods, virus decay rate cal-culation, standardized population coverage of the watershed, algorithm prediction, and provides ideas for combining field modeling with epidemic prevention and control. Moreover, we highlighted some diagnostic techniques for detection of the virus from sew-age sample. Our review is a new approach in identification of the research gaps in waste water-based epidemiology and diagnosis and we also predict the future prospect of our analysis.

AI and deep learning techniques are beginning to play an increasing role in astronomy as a necessary tool to deal with the data avalanche. Here we describe an application for finding resolved Planetary Nebulae (PNe) in crowded, wide-field, narrow-band H-alpha survey imagery in the Galactic plane. PNe are important to study late stage of stellar evolution of low to intermediate-mass stars. However, the confirmed ~3800 Galactic PNe fall far short of the numbers expected. Traditional visual searching for resolved PNe is time-consuming due to the large data size and areal coverage of modern astronomical surveys, especially those taken in narrow-band filters highlighting emission nebulae. To test and facilitate more objective, reproducible, efficient and reliable trawls for PNe candidates we have developed a new, deep learning algorithm. In this paper, we applied the algorithm to several H-alpha digital surveys (e.g. IPHAS and VPHAS+). The training and validation dataset was built with true PNe from the HASH database. After transfer learning, it was then applied to the VPHAS+ survey. We examined 979 out of 2284 survey fields with each survey field covering 1 * 1 deg^2. With a sample of 454 PNe from the IPHAS as our validation set, our algorithm correctly identified 444 of these objects (97.8%), with only 16 explicable 'false' positives. Our model returned ~20,000 detections, including 2637 known PNe and many other kinds of catalogued non-PNe such as HII regions. A total of 815 new high-quality PNe candidates were found, 31 of which were selected as top-quality targets for subsequent optical spectroscopic follow-up. Representative preliminary confirmatory spectroscopy results are presented here to demonstrate the effectiveness of our techniques with full details to be given in paper-II.

Large-scale astronomical surveys can capture numerous images of celestial objects, including galaxies and nebulae. Analysing and processing these images can reveal intricate internal structures of these objects, allowing researchers to conduct comprehensive studies on their morphology, evolution, and physical properties. However, varying noise levels and point spread functions can hamper the accuracy and efficiency of information extraction from these images. To mitigate these effects, we propose a novel image restoration algorithm that connects a deep learning-based restoration algorithm with a high-fidelity telescope simulator. During the training stage, the simulator generates images with different levels of blur and noise to train the neural network based on the quality of restored images. After training, the neural network can directly restore images obtained by the telescope, as represented by the simulator. We have tested the algorithm using real and simulated observation data and have found that it effectively enhances fine structures in blurry images and increases the quality of observation images. This algorithm can be applied to large-scale sky survey data, such as data obtained by LSST, Euclid, and CSST, to further improve the accuracy and efficiency of information extraction, promoting advances in the field of astronomical research., Comment: To be published in the MNRAS

Reconstructing large-scale 3D scenes is essential for autonomous vehicles, especially when partial sensor data is lost. Although the recently developed neural radiance fields (NeRF) have shown compelling results in implicit representations, the large-scale 3D scene reconstruction using partially lost LiDAR point cloud data still needs to be explored. To bridge this gap, we propose a novel 3D scene reconstruction framework called parent-child neural radiance field (PC-NeRF). The framework comprises two modules, the parent NeRF and the child NeRF, to simultaneously optimize scene-level, segment-level, and point-level scene representations. Sensor data can be utilized more efficiently by leveraging the segment-level representation capabilities of child NeRFs, and an approximate volumetric representation of the scene can be quickly obtained even with limited observations. With extensive experiments, our proposed PC-NeRF is proven to achieve high-precision 3D reconstruction in large-scale scenes. Moreover, PC-NeRF can effectively tackle situations where partial sensor data is lost and has high deployment efficiency with limited training time. Lobster eye telescopes are ideal monitors to detect X-ray transients, because they could observe celestial objects over a wide field of view in X-ray band. However, images obtained by lobster eye telescopes are modified by their unique point spread functions, making it hard to design a high efficiency target detection algorithm. In this paper, we integrate several machine learning algorithms to build a target detection framework for data obtained by lobster eye telescopes. Our framework would firstly generate two 2D images with different pixel scales according to positions of photons on the detector. Then an algorithm based on morphological operations and two neural networks would be used to detect candidates of celestial objects with different flux from these 2D images. At last, a random forest algorithm will be used to pick up final detection results from candidates obtained by previous steps. Tested with simulated data of the Wide-field X-ray Telescope onboard the Einstein Probe, our detection framework could achieve over 94% purity and over 90% completeness for targets with flux more than 3 mCrab (9.6 * 10-11 erg/cm2/s) and more than 94% purity and moderate completeness for targets with lower flux at acceptable time cost. Strong lensing in galaxy clusters probes properties of dense cores of dark matter halos in mass, studies the distant universe at flux levels and spatial resolutions otherwise unavailable, and constrains cosmological models independently. The next-generation large scale sky imaging surveys are expected to discover thousands of cluster-scale strong lenses, which would lead to unprecedented opportunities for applying cluster-scale strong lenses to solve astrophysical and cosmological problems. However, the large dataset challenges astronomers to identify and extract strong lensing signals, particularly strongly lensed arcs, because of their complexity and variety. Hence, we propose a framework to detect cluster-scale strongly lensed arcs, which contains a transformer-based detection algorithm and an image simulation algorithm. We embed prior information of strongly lensed arcs at cluster-scale into the training data through simulation and then train the detection algorithm with simulated images. We use the trained transformer to detect strongly lensed arcs from simulated and real data. Results show that our approach could achieve 99.63 % accuracy rate, 90.32 % recall rate, 85.37 % precision rate and 0.23 % false positive rate in detection of strongly lensed arcs from simulated images and could detect almost all strongly lensed arcs in real observation images. Besides, with an interpretation method, we have shown that our method could identify important information embedded in simulated data.
