Abstract In an era characterized by the rapid proliferation of distributed flexible resources (DFRs), the development of customized energy management and regulation strategies has attracted significant interest from the field. The inherent geographical dispersion and unpredictability of these resources, however, pose substantial barriers to their effective and computationally tractable regulation. To address these impediments, this paper proposes a deep reinforcement learning‐based distributed resource energy management strategy, taking into account the inherent physical and structural constraints of the distribution network. This proposed strategy is modelled as a sequential decision‐making framework with a Markov decision process, informed by physical states and external information. In particular, targeting the community energy management system for critical public infrastructure and community holistic benefits maximization, the proposed approach proficiently adapts to fluctuations in resource variability and fluctuating market prices, ensuring intelligent regulation of distributed flexible resources. Simulation and empirical analysis demonstrate that the proposed deep reinforcement learning‐based strategy can improve the economic benefits and decision‐making efficiency of distributed flexible resource regulation while ensuring the security of distribution network power flow.

Abstract Background In evolutionary biology, identifying and quantifying inter-lineage genome size variation and elucidating the underlying causes of that variation have long been goals. Repetitive elements (REs) have been proposed and confirmed as being among the most important contributors to genome size variation. However, the evolutionary implications of genome size variation and RE dynamics are not well understood. Results A total of 35 Ensifera insects were collected from different areas in China, including nine species of crickets and 26 species of katydids. The genome sizes of seven species were then determined using flow cytometry. The RepeatExplorer2 pipeline was employed to retrieve the repeated sequences for each species, based on low-coverage (0.1 X) high-throughput Illumina unassembled short reads. The genome sizes of the 35 Ensifera insects exhibited a considerable degree of variation, ranging from 1.00 to 18.34 pg. This variation was more than 18-fold. Similarly, the RE abundances exhibited considerable variation, ranging from 13.66 to 61.16%. In addition, the Tettigonioidea had larger genomes and contained significantly more REs than did the Grylloidea genomes. Analysis of the correlation between RE abundance and the genome size of 35 Ensifera insects revealed that the abundance of REs, transposable elements (TEs), long terminal repeats (LTRs), and long interspersed nuclear elements (LINEs) are significantly correlated with genome size. Notably, there is an inflection point in this correlation, where species with increasingly large genomes (e.g., > 5–10 pg) have repeats that contribute less to genome expansion than expected. Furthermore, this study revealed contrasting evolutionary directions between the Tettigonioidea and Grylloidea clades in terms of the expansion of REs. Tettigonioidea species exhibit a gradual increase in ancestral genome size and RE abundance as they diverge, while Grylloidea species experience sustained genome contraction. Conclusions This study reveals extensive variation in genome size and RE abundance in Ensifera insects, with distinct evolutionary patterns across two major groups, Tettigonioidea and Grylloidea. This provides valuable insights into the variation in genome size and RE abundance in Ensifera insects, offering a comprehensive understanding of their evolutionary history.

Abstract Quantum entanglement acts as a crucial part in quantum computation and quantum information, hence quantifying unknown entanglement is an important task. Due to the fact that the amount of entanglement cannot be achieved directly by measuring any physical observables, it remains an open problem to quantify entanglement experimentally. In this work, we provide an effective way to quantify entanglement for the unknown quantum states via artificial neural networks. By choosing the expectation values of measurements as input features and the values of entanglement measures as labels, we train artificial neural network models to predict the entanglement for new quantum states accurately. Our method does not require the full information about unknown quantum states, which highlights the effectiveness and versatility of machine learning in exploring quantum entanglement.

Abstract Objective Early identification of modifiable risk factors is crucial for the prevention of constipation. This study systematically investigated the relationship between genetically predicted modifiable risk factors and constipation. Methods The inverse variance weighting (IVW) method was employed as the primary analytical approach. For similar exposure indicators, the multivariate Mendelian randomization (MVMR) method was used to adjust for potential biases in univariate MR analysis. The robustness of the results was further evaluated using the MR-Egger intercept test, Cochran’s Q test, and leave-one-out analysis. Bonferroni correction was applied to reduce the false positive rate in the results. Results The IVW analysis indicated a significant causal association between genetically predicted gastroesophageal reflux disease [OR (95% CI) = 1.192 (1.079–1.315), P = 0.0005], atorvastatin use [OR (95% CI) = 16.995 (3.327–86.816), P = 0.0007], and constipation. Additionally, there was a potential causal association between education level [OR (95% CI) = 0.859 (0.767–0.964), P = 0.009], major depressive disorder [OR (95% CI) = 1.206 (1.041–1.399), P = 0.013], hypothyroidism [OR (95% CI) = 2.299 (1.327–3.985), P = 0.003], and aspirin use [OR (95% CI) = 4.872 (1.174–20.221), P = 0.029] with constipation. No causal associations were found for the other included indicators. Sensitivity analysis demonstrated the absence of evidence for heterogeneity and pleiotropy in any positive results. Conclusion This study identified several risk factors that could be targeted for the prevention of constipation, offering valuable insights for public health policies.

Abstract Introduction Pyroptosis, inflammatory necrosis of cells, is a programmed cell death involved in the pathological process of diseases. Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS), as a protective stress response of cell, decreases the unfold protein concentration to inhibit the unfold protein agglutination. Whereas the relationship between endoplasmic reticulum stress and pyroptosis in pulmonary hypertension (PH) remain unknown. Previous evident indicated that circular RNA (circRNA) can participate in several biological process, including cell pyroptosis. However, the mechanism of circRNA regulate pyroptosis of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells through endoplasmic reticulum stress still unclear. Here, we proved that circSSR1 was down-regulate expression during hypoxia in pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells, and over-expression of circSSR1 inhibit pyroptosis both in vitro and in vivo under hypoxic. Our experiments have indicated that circSSR1 could promote host gene SSR1 translation via m6A to activate ERS leading to pulmonary artery smooth muscle cell pyroptosis. In addition, our results showed that G3BP1 as upstream regulator mediate the expression of circSSR1 under hypoxia. These results highlight a new regulatory mechanism for pyroptosis and provide a potential therapy target for pulmonary hypertension. Methods RNA-FISH and qRT-PCR were showed the location of circSSR1 and expression change. RNA pull-down and RIP verify the circSSR1 combine with YTHDF1. Western blotting, PI staining and LDH release were used to explore the role of circSSR1 in PASMCs pyroptosis. Results CircSSR1 was markedly downregulated in hypoxic PASMCs. Knockdown CircSSR1 inhibited hypoxia induced PASMCs pyroptosis in vivo and in vitro. Mechanistically, circSSR1 combine with YTHDF1 to promote SSR1 protein translation rely on m6A, activating pyroptosis via endoplasmic reticulum stress. Furthermore, G3BP1 induce circSSR1 degradation under hypoxic. Conclusion Our findings clarify the role of circSSR1 up-regulated parental protein SSR1 expression mediate endoplasmic reticulum stress leading to pyroptosis in PASMCs, ultimately promoting the development of pulmonary hypertension.

Abstract Cytokine-induced apoptosis inhibitor 1 (CIAPIN1) is a protein that regulates apoptosis and programmed cell death. This research aims to evaluate its potential role in inhibiting breast cancer cell proliferation, migration, and glycolysis and uncover its underlying molecular mechanism. We collected breast cancer tissue samples from eight patients between January 2019 and June 2023 in our Hospital to analyse CIAPIN1 expression. We transfected human breast cancer cell lines (MCF7, MDA-MB-231, MDA-MB-453, and MDA-MB-468) with siRNA of CIAPIN1. Finally, we determined protein expression using RT-qPCR and Western blotting. CIAPIN1 expression was elevated in both breast cancer tissue and serum. Overexpression of CIAPIN1 detected in the breast cancer cell lines MCF7 and MDA-MB-468. In addition, CIAPIN1 overexpression increased cell proliferation and migration rate. CIAPIN1 downregulation suppressed cell proliferation while elevated cellular apoptosis, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and oxidative stress in breast cancer cells. Moreover, CIAPIN1 inhibition remarkably suppressed pyruvate, lactate and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production and reduced the pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2) protein expression and phosphorylation of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) in breast cancer cells. Downregulation of CIAPIN1 suppresses cell proliferation, migration and glycolysis capacity in breast cancer cells by inhibiting the STAT3/PKM2 pathway.

Abstract Bound states in the continuum (BICs), referring to spatially localized bound states with energies falling within the range of extended modes, have been extensively investigated in single-particle systems, leading to diverse applications in photonics, acoustics, and other classical-wave systems. Recently, there has been theoretical interest in exploring many-body BICs in interacting quantum systems, which necessitate the careful design of impurity potentials or spatial profiles of interaction. Here, we propose a type of many-body BICs localized at boundaries, which can be purely induced by the uniform onsite interaction without requiring any specific design of impurity potential or nonlocal interaction. We numerically show that three or more interacting bosons can concentrate on the boundary of a homogeneous one-dimensional lattice, which is absent at single- and two-particle counterparts. Moreover, the eigenenergy of multi-boson bound states can embed within the continuous energy spectra of extended scattering states, thereby giving rise to interaction-induced boundary many-body BICs. Furthermore, by mapping Fock states of three and four bosons to nonlinear circuit networks, we experimentally simulate boundary many-body BICs. Our findings enrich the comprehension of correlated BICs beyond the single-particle level, and have the potential to inspire future investigations on exploring many-body BICs.

Abstract Graphene growth on widely used dielectrics/insulators via chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is a strategy toward transfer-free applications of CVD graphene for the realization of advanced composite materials. Here, we develop graphene-skinned alumina fibers/fabrics (GAFs/GAFFs) through graphene CVD growth on commercial alumina fibers/fabrics (AFs/AFFs). We reveal a vapor-surface-solid growth model on a non-metallic substrate, which is distinct from the well-established vapor-solid model on conventional non-catalytic non-metallic substrates, but bears a closer resemblance to that observed on catalytic metallic substrates. The metalloid-catalytic growth of graphene on AFs/AFFs resulted in reduced growth temperature (~200 °C lower) and accelerated growth rate (~3.4 times faster) compared to that obtained on a representative non-metallic counterpart, quartz fiber. The fabricated GAFF features a wide-range tunable electrical conductivity (1-15000 Ω sq−1), high tensile strength (>1.5 GPa), lightweight, flexibility, and a hierarchical macrostructure. These attributes are inherited from both graphene and AFF, making GAFF promising for various applications including electrical heating and electromagnetic interference shielding. Beyond laboratory level preparation, the stable mass production of large-scale GAFF has been achieved through a home-made roll-to-roll system with capacity of 468-93600 m2/year depending on product specifications, providing foundations for the subsequent industrialization of this material, enabling its widespread adoption in various industries.

Healthcare environment design evaluation (HEDE) can help create a safe environment, and interpersonal visibility among users is a key metric for assessing the safety of HEDE due to its role in caregiving observation. Traditional tools for visibility evaluation mainly focus on physical obstructions, neglecting the impact of the user’s mobility behavior, which is common in the healthcare environment. To address this challenge, this study developed a five-step workflow to evaluating interpersonal visibility among mobile users in healthcare environment: 1) collection of empirical behavior data from users; 2) construction of user journeys; 3) validation of agent-based simulation (ABS) reliability; 4) utilization of ABS to simulate user behavior in a virtual environment; and 5) computation of total visibility duration and time intervals between users using the parametric computation tool. This workflow was tested in 25 long-term care facilities for the elderly with dementia and subsequently evaluated by experts. The evaluation results confirm the effectiveness of this workflow. The core contribution and novelty of this workflow lie in its integration of ABS and parametric computation, which enables the evaluation of interpersonal visibility among mobile users, thereby contributing to the safety of the healthcare environment.

Abstract Background Toxoplasma gondii is an intracellular protozoan parasite that is widely distributed in humans and warm-blooded animals. T. gondii chronic infections can cause toxoplasmic encephalopathy, adverse pregnancy, and male reproductive disorders. In male reproduction, the main function of the testis is to provide a stable place for spermatogenesis and immunological protection. The disorders affecting testis tissue encompass abnormalities in the germ cell cycle, spermatogenic retardation, or complete cessation of sperm development. However, the mechanisms of interaction between T. gondii and the reproductive system is unclear. The aims were to study the expression levels of genes related to spermatogenesis, following T. gondii infection, in mouse testicular tissue. Methods RNA-seq sequencing was carried out on mouse testicular tissues from mice infected or uninfected with the T. gondii type II Prugniaud (PRU) strain and validated in combination with real-time quantitative PCR and immunofluorescence assays. Abstract Direct chemical vapor deposition (CVD) growth of graphene on dielectric/insulating materials is a promising strategy for subsequent transfer-free applications of graphene. However, graphene growth on noncatalytic substrates is faced with thorny issues, especially the limited growth rate, which severely hinders mass production and practical applications. Herein, graphene glass fiber fabric (GGFF) is developed by graphene CVD growth on glass fiber fabric. Dichloromethane is applied as a carbon precursor to accelerate graphene growth, which has a low decomposition energy barrier, and more importantly, the produced high-electronegativity Cl radical can enhance adsorption of active carbon species by Cl–CH2 coadsorption and facilitate H detachment from graphene edges. Consequently, the growth rate is increased by ~3 orders of magnitude and carbon utilization by ~960-fold, compared with conventional methane precursor. The advantageous hierarchical conductive configuration of lightweight, flexible GGFF makes it an ultrasensitive pressure sensor for human motion and physiological monitoring, such as pulse and vocal signals.

Abstract Background The interplay between Toxoplasma gondii infection and tumor development is intriguing and not yet fully understood. Some studies showed that T. gondii reversed tumor immune suppression, while some reported the opposite, stating that T. gondii infection promoted tumor growth. Methods We created three mouse models to investigate the interplay between T. gondii and tumor. Model I aimed to study the effect of tumor growth on T. gondii infection by measuring cyst number and size. Models II and III were used to investigate the effect of different stages of T. gondii infection on tumor development via flow cytometry and bioluminescent imaging. Mouse strains (Kunming, BALB/c, and C57BL/6J) with varying susceptibilities to tumors were used in the study. Results The size and number of brain cysts in the tumor-infected group were significantly higher, indicating that tumor presence promotes T. gondii growth in the brain. Acute T. gondii infection, before or after tumor cell introduction, decreased tumor growth manifested by reduced bioluminescent signal and tumor size and weight. In the tumor microenvironment, CD4+ and CD8+ T cell number, including their subpopulations (cytotoxic CD8+ T cells and Th1 cells) had a time-dependent increase in the group with acute T. gondii infection compared with the group without infection. However, in the peripheral blood, the increase of T cells, including cytotoxic CD8+ T cells and Th1 cells, persisted 25 days after Lewis lung carcinoma (LLC) cell injection in the group with acute T. gondii. Chronic T. gondii infection enhanced tumor growth as reflected by increase in tumor size and weight. The LLC group with chronic T. gondii infection exhibited decreased percentages of cytotoxic CD8+ T cells and Th1 cells 25 days post-LLC injection as compared with the LLC group without T. gondii infection. At week 4 post-LLC injection, chronic T. gondii infection increased tumor formation rate [odds ratio (OR) 1.71] in both KM and BALB/c mice. Conclusions Our research elucidates the dynamics between T. gondii infection and tumorigenesis. Tumor-induced immune suppression promoted T. gondii replication in the brain. Acute and chronic T. gondii infection had opposing effects on tumor development. Graphical Abstract

Non-isocyanate polyurethane (NIPU) adhesives represent a cutting-edge advancement in adhesive technology, poised to significantly diminish the dependency on isocyanate-based PU within the industry. In the context of the increasing scarcity of petroleum-based resources and the growing imperative for sustainable environmental practices, the pursuit of a comprehensively sustainable, bio-derived non-isocyanate polyurethane (NIPU) adhesive has swiftly become a pivotal area of interest within the scientific research community. In this study, the cashew phenol cyclic carbonate (CPCC) was synthesized through the addition polymerization process involving cashew phenol glycidyl ether (602A) with carbon dioxide (CO2), followed by a curing step utilizing a diamine extracted from biomass-derived oil to produce bio-based NIPU at ambient temperature. The synthesized NIPU adhesive demonstrated remarkable thermal stability and exceptional adhesion to a variety of substrate materials. Notably, the adhesive showcased superior bonding efficacy at ultra-low temperatures, with steel bonding strength reaching up to 7.78 MPa at −37 °C. This study presents an efficient and accelerated synthesis approach for the preparation of bio-based NIPU, offering a significant contribution to the field. Moreover, it provides a valuable reference for future advancements in NIPU adhesive technology, particularly for the applications requiring robust bonding at low-temperature environments.

Summary: The abnormal expression of circular RNAs (circRNAs) is emerging as a critical cause in regulation of pathological changes of hypoxic pulmonary hypertension (PH), in which ferroptosis is a new pathological change reported recently. However, how circRNAs regulate ferroptosis remains unclear. Here, we proved a significant decrease in circMyst4 expression in hypoxia. In vitro assays revealed that circMyst4 alleviated hypoxic pulmonary artery smooth muscle cell (PASMC) ferroptosis through directly combing with DDX5 in the nucleus to promote GPX4 mRNA processing and inhibiting the formation of the Eef1a1/ACSL4 complex in the cytoplasm. Additionally, superenhancer (SE) was verified to drive the generation of circMyst4. In vivo assays revealed that circMyst4 inhibited the progression of hypoxic PH. Overall, SE-driven circMyst4 may be a new potential therapeutic target for mediating PASMC ferroptosis through promoting DDX5-regulated GPX4 mRNA processing and inhibiting the binding between Eef1a1 and ACSL4.

The ubiquitination or SUMOylation of hematopoietic related factors plays pivotal roles in hematopoiesis. RNF111, known as a ubiquitin ligase (Ubl), is a newly discovered SUMO-targeted ubiquitin ligase (STUbl) involved in multiple signaling pathways mediated by TGF-β family members. However, its role in hematopoiesis remains unclear. Herein, a heritable Rnf111 mutant zebrafish line was generated by CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing. Impaired hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPC) of definitive hematopoiesis was found in Rnf111 deficient mutants. Ablation of Rnf111 resulted in decreased phosphorylation of Smad2/3 in HSPC. Definitive endoderm 2 inducer (IDE2), which specifically activates TGF-β signaling and downstream Smad2 phosphorylation, can restore the definitive hematopoiesis in Rnf111-deficient embryos. Further molecular mechanism studies revealed that Gcsfr/NO signaling was an important target pathway of Smad2/3 involved in Rnf111-mediated HSPC development. In conclusion, our study demonstrated that Rnf111 contributes to the development of HSPC by maintaining Smad2/3 phosphorylation and the Gcsfr/NO signaling pathway activation. Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii), an obligate intracellular protozoan parasite, is increasingly recognized for its role in various human diseases, including periodontal diseases. Periodontal diseases comprise a wide range of inflammatory conditions that not only affect the supporting structures of the teeth and oral health but also contribute to systemic diseases. The parasite’s ability to modulate the host’s immune response and induce chronic inflammation within the periodontium is a key factor in periodontal tissue damage. Through its virulence factors, T. gondii disrupts the balance of inflammatory cytokines, leading to dysregulated immune responses, and exacerbates oxidative stress in periodontal tissues. And T. gondii invasion could affect specific proteins in host cells including HSP70, BAGs, MICs, ROPs, SAGs, and GRAs leading to periodontal tissue damage. The indirect role of the host immune response to T. gondii via natural killer cells, monocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, dendritic cells, T cells, and B cells also contributes to periodontal diseases. Understanding these complex interactions of T. gondii with host cells could unravel disease mechanisms and therapeutic targets for periodontal diseases. This review delves into the pathogenic mechanisms of T. gondii in periodontal diseases, offering a detailed exploration of both direct and indirect pathways of its impact on periodontal health.

Background: Calcitriol (Cal) is the most active metabolite of vitamin D and has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of Cal in noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) to further elucidate the mechanism of noise-induced oxidative stress in the mouse cochlea. Methods: C57BL/6 J mice were given six intraperitoneal injections of Cal (500 ng/kg/d). After 14 days of noise exposure, auditory brainstem response (ABR) thresholds, and the cochlear outer hair cell loss rate were analysed to evaluate auditory function. Real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR, immunofluorescence and western blotting were performed in vitro after the treatment of cochlear explants with 100 µM tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) for 2.5 h and HEI-OC1 cells with 250 µM TBHP for 1.5 h. Results: In vivo experiments confirmed that Cal pretreatment mitigated NIHL and outer hair cell death. The in vitro results demonstrated that Cal significantly reduced TBHP-induced cochlear auditory nerve fibre degradation and spiral ganglion neuron damage. Moreover, treatment with Cal inhibited the expression of oxidative stress-related factors (3-NT and 4-HNE) and DNA damage-related factors (γ-H2A.X) and attenuated TBHP-induced apoptosis in cochlear explants and HEI-OC1 cells. A total of 1479 upregulated genes and 1443 downregulated genes were screened in cochlear tissue 1 h after noise exposure. The level of transcription factor 3 (ATF3) was significantly elevated in HEI-OC1 cells after TBHP stimulation. Gene Transcription Regulation Database （GTRD）and Cistrome database analyses revealed that the downstream target gene of ATF3 is dual specificity phosphatase 1 (DUSP1). Cistrome DB Toolkit database results showed that the transcription factor of DUSP1 was ATF3. In addition, the ChIP-PCR results indicated that ATF3 might be a direct transcription factor of DUSP1. Conclusion: The results of our study suggest that Cal attenuates NIHL and inhibits noise-induced apoptosis by regulating the ATF3/DUSP1 signalling pathway.

Abstract Understanding the regulation of normal erythroid development will help to develop new potential therapeutic strategies for disorders of the erythroid lineage. Cellular repressor of E1A‐stimulated genes 1 (CREG1) is a glycoprotein that has been implicated in the regulation of tissue homeostasis. However, its role in erythropoiesis remains largely undefined. In this study, it is found that CREG1 expression increases progressively during erythroid differentiation. In zebrafish, creg1 mRNA is preferentially expressed within the intermediate cell mass (ICM)/peripheral blood island (PBI) region where primitive erythropoiesis occurs. Loss of creg1 leads to anemia caused by defective erythroid differentiation and excessive apoptosis of erythroid progenitors. Mechanistically, creg1 deficiency results in reduced activation of TGF‐β/Smad2 signaling pathway. Treatment with an agonist of the Smad2 pathway (IDE2) could significantly restore the defective erythroid development in creg1−/− mutants. Further, Klf1, identified as a key target gene downstream of the TGF‐β/Smad2 signaling pathway, is involved in creg1 deficiency‐induced aberrant erythropoiesis. Thus, this study reveals a previously unrecognized role for Creg1 as a critical regulator of erythropoiesis, mediated at least in part by the TGF‐β/Smad2‐Klf1 axis. This finding may contribute to the understanding of normal erythropoiesis and the pathogenesis of erythroid disorders.

BackgroundRestricting salt, caffeine, and alcohol intake is commonly recommended as a first-line treatment for patients with Ménière’s disease (MD). However, it remains unclear whether these interventions effectively improve symptoms of MD. Therefore, we conducted a bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to evaluate the relationship between these dietary modifications and MD.MethodsSummary statistics for salt added to food, alcohol consumption, coffee consumption, and MD were sourced from the United Kingdom Biobank, GSCAN, and the FinnGen study, involving up to 941,280 participants. The main analyses were performed using the random-effects inverse-variance weighted (IVW) approach and were complemented by four additional methods. Multiple sensitivity analyses were performed to validate the findings, and both forward and reverse MR analyses were employed to address potential reverse causality bias.ResultsThe primary MR results using the IVW method revealed that salt added to food (OR = 0.719, 95% CI: 0.429–1.206; p = 0.211), alcohol consumption (OR = 0.834, 95% CI: 0.427–1.628; p = 0.595), and coffee consumption (OR = 0.852, 95% CI: 0.555–1.306; p = 0.461) were not significantly correlated with MD. In reverse analysis, no evidence of significant effect was found from MD to salt added to food (OR = 1.000, 95% CI: 0.993–1.007; p = 0.957), alcohol consumption (OR = 0.998, 95% CI: 0.987–1.008; p = 0.682), and coffee consumption (OR = 0.998, 95% CI: 0.985–1.011; p = 0.72).ConclusionThis MR analysis did not identify convincing evidence to support the idea that restricting salt, caffeine, and alcohol intake is beneficial for the treatment of MD.

Abstract Background Tumor morphology, immune function, inflammatory levels, and nutritional status play critical roles in the progression of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). This multicenter study aimed to investigate the association between markers related to tumor morphology, immune function, inflammatory levels, and nutritional status with the prognosis of ICC patients. Additionally, a novel tumor morphology immune inflammatory nutritional score (TIIN score), integrating these factors was constructed. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on 418 patients who underwent radical surgical resection and had postoperative pathological confirmation of ICC between January 2016 and January 2020 at three medical centers. The cohort was divided into a training set (n = 272) and a validation set (n = 146). The prognostic significance of 16 relevant markers was assessed, and the TIIN score was derived using LASSO regression. Subsequently, the TIIN-nomogram models for OS and RFS were developed based on the TIIN score and the results of multivariate analysis. The predictive performance of the TIIN-nomogram models was evaluated using ROC survival curves, calibration curves, and clinical decision curve analysis (DCA). Results The TIIN score, derived from albumin-to-alkaline phosphatase ratio (AAPR), albumin–globulin ratio (AGR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), and tumor burden score (TBS), effectively categorized patients into high-risk and low-risk groups using the optimal cutoff value. Compared to individual metrics, the TIIN score demonstrated superior predictive value for both OS and RFS. Furthermore, the TIIN score exhibited strong associations with clinical indicators including obstructive jaundice, CEA, CA19-9, Child–pugh grade, perineural invasion, and 8th edition AJCC N stage. Abstract Understanding the genetic architecture of brain structure is challenging, partly due to difficulties in designing robust, non-biased descriptors of brain morphology. Until recently, brain measures for genome-wide association studies (GWAS) consisted of traditionally expert-defined or software-derived image-derived phenotypes (IDPs) that are often based on theoretical preconceptions or computed from limited amounts of data. Here, we present an approach to derive brain imaging phenotypes using unsupervised deep representation learning. We train a 3-D convolutional autoencoder model with reconstruction loss on 6130 UK Biobank (UKBB) participants’ T1 or T2-FLAIR (T2) brain MRIs to create a 128-dimensional representation known as Unsupervised Deep learning derived Imaging Phenotypes (UDIPs). GWAS of these UDIPs in held-out UKBB subjects (n = 22,880 discovery and n = 12,359/11,265 replication cohorts for T1/T2) identified 9457 significant SNPs organized into 97 independent genetic loci of which 60 loci were replicated. Twenty-six loci were not reported in earlier T1 and T2 IDP-based UK Biobank GWAS. We developed a perturbation-based decoder interpretation approach to show that these loci are associated with UDIPs mapped to multiple relevant brain regions. Our results established unsupervised deep learning can derive robust, unbiased, heritable, and interpretable brain imaging phenotypes.

BackgroundPermethrin is a commonly used pyrethroid insecticide and has been found to be potentially neurotoxic. Microglia are innate immune cells in the central nervous system and are involved in the development of a range of neurodegenerative diseases. ObjectiveTo observe possible toxic effects of permethrin on human microglia clone 3 (HMC3) in vitro and explore associated mechanism. MethodsHMC3 were treated with 0, 10, 25, and 55 μmol·L−1 permethrin for 72 h. Cell cycle and apoptosis were measured using flow cytometry. Cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (CDK1), cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1A (CDKN1A), cyclin B2 (CCNB2), cellular tumor antigen p53 (p53), factor-related apoptosis (FAS), caspase 3 (CASP3), and H2A histone family member X (H2AX) were detected by quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR). The differential genes and enrichment pathways of HMC3 after 0 and 25 μmol·L−1 permethrin treatment was analyzed by RNA sequencing. HMC3 was treated by 0, 10, 25, and 55 μmol· L−1 permethrin for 72 h. The content of nitric oxide (NO) in the supernatant was detected using Griess reagent. The secretion level of interleukin-6 (IL-6) was detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Background Myocardial ischemia is a prevalent cardiovascular disorder associated with significant morbidity and mortality. While prompt restoration of blood flow is essential for improving patient outcomes, the subsequent reperfusion process can result in myocardial ischemia–reperfusion injury (MIRI). Mitophagy, a specialized autophagic mechanism, has consistently been implicated in various cardiovascular disorders. However, the specific connection between ischemia–reperfusion and mitophagy remains elusive. This study aims to elucidate and validate central mitophagy-related genes associated with MIRI through comprehensive bioinformatics analysis. Methods We acquired the microarray expression profile dataset (GSE108940) from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and identified differentially expressed genes (DEGs) using GEO2R. Subsequently, these DEGs were cross-referenced with the mitophagy database, and differential nucleotide sequence analysis was performed through enrichment analysis. Protein–protein interaction (PPI) network analysis was employed to identify hub genes, followed by clustering of these hub genes using cytoHubba and MCODE within Cytoscape software. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was conducted on central genes. Additionally, Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) analyses were conducted to validate the expression patterns of pivotal genes in MIRI rat model and H9C2 cardiomyocytes. Results A total of 2719 DEGs and 61 mitophagy-DEGs were identified, followed by enrichment analyses and the construction of a PPI network. HSP90AA1, RPS27A, EEF2, EIF4A1, EIF2S1, HIF-1α, and BNIP3 emerged as the seven hub genes identified by cytoHubba and MCODE of Cytoscape software. Functional clustering analysis of HIF-1α and BNIP3 yielded a score of 9.647, as determined by Cytoscape (MCODE). In our MIRI rat model, Western blot and immunofluorescence analyses confirmed a significant elevation in the expression of HIF-1α and BNIP3, accompanied by a notable increase in the ratio of LC3II to LC3I. Subsequently, qPCR confirmed a significant upregulation of HIF-1α, BNIP3, and LC3 mRNA in the MIRI group. Activation of the HIF-1α/BNIP3 pathway mediates the regulation of the degree of Mitophagy, thereby effectively reducing apoptosis in rat H9C2 cardiomyocytes. Conclusions This study has identified seven central genes among mitophagy-related DEGs that may play a pivotal role in MIRI, suggesting a correlation between the HIF-1α/BNIP3 pathway of mitophagy and the pathogenesis of MIRI. The findings highlight the potential importance of mitophagy in MIRI and provide valuable insights into underlying mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets for further exploration in future studies.

Abstract Assistive medical image classifiers can greatly reduce the workload of medical personnel. However, traditional machine learning methods require large amounts of well-labeled data and long learning times to solve medical image classification problems, which can lead to high training costs and poor applicability. To address this problem, a novel unsupervised breast cancer image classification model based on multiscale texture analysis and a dynamic learning strategy for mammograms is proposed in this paper. First, a gray-level cooccurrence matrix and Tamura coarseness are used to transfer images to multiscale texture feature vectors. Then, an unsupervised dynamic learning mechanism is used to classify these vectors. In the simulation experiments with a resolution of 40 pixels, the accuracy, precision, F1-score and AUC of the proposed method reach 91.500%, 92.780%, 91.370%, and 91.500%, respectively. The experimental results show that the proposed method can provide an effective reference for breast cancer diagnosis.

The oil and gas industry frequently uses liquid corrosion inhibitors to reduce equipment and pipeline corrosion. However, this approach requires frequent additions, which are costly in terms of labor and materials. Solid corrosion inhibitor capsules (SCICs) have become an optimal alternative, as they provide long-term corrosion protection. However, the current encapsulation materials need to be modified for improving encapsulation capability. In this study, lauryl acrylate (LA) was grafted onto Ethylene-vinyl-acetates (EVA) to reduce its crystallinity and increase the interface force between EVA and oleic imidazoline (OIM). OIM was then encapsulated using the grafted EVA (EVA-g-LA) to form matrix-type solid capsules that possess the high encapsulation efficiency and long service life. The analysis with a UV–Vis spectrophotometer revealed that OIM had a stable release process from the SCIC matrix. Over a period of 91 days, the released OIM still had a high corrosion inhibition efficiency towards N80 steel (>80%). Using the prepared SCIC can reduce annual anticorrosion costs in oil and gas fields by 70%.

Riparian vegetation always grows on both sides of a natural river during a dam-break event, while the river typically retains some water instead of completely drying out. The RNG k-ϵ turbulence model is employed to examine the evolutionary characteristics of the dam-break flow in the downstream vegetated channel. This model facilitates the analysis of water-level fluctuations, velocity distributions, and the retardation effects of vegetation on the dam-break flow by varying the initial water depth (IWD) in the downstream channel. Results indicates that as the water depth in the downstream channel increases, the dam-break wave tends to form more readily, possesses a larger amplitude, and the duration of rapid congestion in the dam-break current decreases. Hence, the surface velocity gradually declines and shows an intermittent distribution. Vegetation impedes the flow evolution in the vegetated area, an effect that diminishes progressively with increasing IWD. In contrast, vegetation hastens the evolution of water flow in the main channel, which remains minimally affected by the IWD.

Food security has a bearing on national development and people's livelihoods and is an important guarantee of social stability for national development. The problems of arable land abandonment and non-grain are becoming more and more serious, and national food security is difficult to guarantee, which will seriously hinder the forward development of China's society and economy. Taking Ruijin City of Jiangxi Province as an example, this study calculated the abandonment level and non-grain level of arable land in Ruijin City respectively from two aspects, and explored the spatial differentiation law of farmland abandonment and non-grain level in the hilly and mountainous areas of southern Jiangxi Province by using spatial autocorrelation and cold and hot spot analysis methods, and the causes of arable land abandonment and non-grain spatial differentiation in the hilly mountainous areas of Gannan were revealed by the methods of Geodetector factor detection and interaction detection. Conclusions of the study: (1) Ruijin City, the abandoned area was 1216.73 hm2, the abandonment rate of each village ranged from 0.01 % to 50.62 %, and the comprehensive abandonment rate was 4.90 %; the area of non-grain was 2937.27 hm2, and the rate of non-grain of each village ranged from 0.01 % to 100.00 %, and the comprehensive non-grain rate was 11.83 %. The area of non-grain was 2937.27 hm2, and the rate of non-grain in each village ranged from 0.01 % to 100.00 %, and the comprehensive rate of non-grain was 11.83 %. (2) The phenomenon of abandonment of arable land and non-grain in Gannan hilly and mountainous areas has a certain clustering and driving effect in space. Globally, the phenomena of arable land abandonment and non-grain in Ruijin City are positively correlated, with the global Moran's I of arable land abandonment rate being 0.05, and the global Moran's I of arable land non-grain being 0.73. (3) Whether or not arable land in the hilly mountainous areas of Gannan is abandoned is affected by the combination of socioeconomics, natural resources, farming conditions, and economic location, with elevation, the degree of arable land contiguity, and population density being the dominant factors. The interaction of elevation, degree of concentration and contiguity, field regularity, and per capita arable land area increased the spatial variability of arable land abandonment in the hilly mountainous areas of Gannan. Whether the phenomenon of non-grain occurs or not is affected by socio-economic conditions, farming conditions and economic location, of which the proportion of paddy fields, land transfer price, arable land area, and urban-rural gradient are the dominant factors. The proportion of paddy land, the price of land transfer, the area of arable land, and the urban-rural gradient interact with each other, and the tendency of arable land to be planted with non-grain crops is more serious.

Purpose: To investigate the factors influencing hypothermia during pancreaticoduodenectomy and establish and verify a prediction model. Method: The clinical data of patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy in Hunan People's Hospital between January 1, 2022 and October 15, 2022 were analysed. The patients were divided into a hypothermia group (n = 302) and a non-hypothermia group (n = 164) according to whether hypothermia occurred during surgery. A binary logistic regression model was used to analyse the independent risk factors for hypothermia in patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy. A risk prediction model was established, and R software was used to plot a column graph. The predictive value of the model was evaluated using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results: Among the 466 patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy, 302 (64.81 %) had hypothermia, including 154 men and 148 women, with a median age of 58.6 (38–86) years. ObjectiveTo evaluate parental knowledge of myopia control, investigate its association with children’s practice and refractive status, and explore their change under the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.MethodsIn this web-based survey, a self-administered questionnaire was made online available during the COVID-19 outbreak between February 1th, 2022 and August 31th, 2022 in China. Participants were recruited via social media by convenience and snowball sampling. Parents of both sexes whose children aged between 3 and 18 were eligible. The overall questionnaire was composed of four categories: demographic information, parental knowledge of myopia, children’s myopia-related behaviors and their change after the COVID-19 pandemic, and children’s refractive status. Cluster routing is a critical routing approach in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). However, the uneven distribution of selected cluster head nodes and impractical data transmission paths can result in uneven depletion of network energy. For this purpose, we introduce a new routing strategy for clustered wireless sensor networks that utilizes an improved beluga whale optimization algorithm, called tCBWO-DPR. In the selection process of cluster heads, we introduce a new excitation function to evaluate and select more suitable candidate cluster heads by establishing the correlation between the energy of node and the positional relationship of nodes. In addition, the beluga whale optimization (BWO) algorithm has been improved by incorporating the cosine factor and t-distribution to enhance its local and global search capabilities, as well as to improve its convergence speed and ability. For the data transmission path, we use Prim's algorithm to construct a spanning tree and introduce DPR for determining the optimal route between cluster heads based on the correlation distances of cluster heads. This effectively shortens the data transmission path and enhances network stability. Simulation results show that the improved beluga whale optimization based algorithm can effectively improve the survival cycle and reduce the average energy consumption of the network.

One of the major reasons for the explosion of autonomous driving in recent years is the great development of computer vision. As one of the most fundamental and challenging problems in autonomous driving, environment understanding has been widely studied. It directly determines whether the entire in-vehicle system can effectively identify surrounding objects of vehicles and make correct path planning. Semantic segmentation is the most important means of environment understanding among the many image recognition algorithms used in autonomous driving. However, the success of semantic segmentation models is highly dependent on human expertise in data preparation and hyperparameter optimization, and the tedious process of training is repeated over and over for each new scene. Automated machine learning (AutoML) is a research area for this problem that aims to automate the development of end-to-end ML models. In this paper, we propose an automatic learning method for semantic segmentation based on reinforcement learning (RL), which can realize automatic selection of training data and guide automatic training of semantic segmentation. The results show that our scheme converges faster and has higher accuracy than researchers manually training semantic segmentation models, while requiring no human involvement.

Polypropylene (PP) is considered to be a rather promising material for HVDC cable insulation. Grafting modi-fication has proved to be an effective method on the electrical property improvements of PP. This paper reports on the highly-enhanced electrical properties of styrene-grafted polypropylene (PP-g-St) and their related mechanism. The influence of grafting styrene on crystallization structures, thermal properties and electrical properties of PP-g-St are characterized and analyzed. These results show that PP-g-St exhibits remarkably enhanced DC volume resistivity, suppressed space charge accumulation and improved DC breakdown strengths as compared to PP. Crystallization observation shows PP-g-St has small, imperfect spherulites with indistinct boundaries, which is strongly correlated to enhanced electrical properties. This study provides an effective grafting strategy to design high-performance HVDC cable insulation materials for bulk power transmission systems.

Three-phase, three-level Vienna rectifiers are widely used in power supplies for the advantages of high power density, low switching voltage stress and low grid side current harmonics. However, due to the presence of positive and negative sequence components under the unbalanced weak power grid, the control structure using the traditional proportional integral (PI) control is complicated and requires decoupling and multiple coordinate transformations, and it has longer dynamic response time. This paper presents an unbalanced current control strategy that combines improved sliding mode control (SMC) with new reaching law and multi proportional resonance (MPR) control of Vienna rectifier under unbalanced weak power grid. This paper establishes the mathematical model of Vienna rectifier under unbalanced weak current network. In the $\alpha \beta $ coordinate system, dual second-order generalized integrator (DSOGI) is used to separate the positive and negative sequence components of the voltage. Suitable sliding mode surfaces and sliding mode convergence laws were designed. Finally, the results of simulations and experiments were used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract Background Pancreatic cancer (PC) is an extremely malignant tumor with low survival rate. Effective biomarkers and therapeutic targets for PC are lacking. The roles of circular RNAs (circRNAs) in cancers have been explored in various studies, however more work is needed to understand the functional roles of specific circRNAs. In this study, we explore the specific role and mechanism of circ_0035435 (termed circCGNL1) in PC. Methods qRT-PCR analysis was performed to detect circCGNL1 expression, indicating circCGNL1 had low expression in PC cells and tissues. The function of circCGNL1 in PC progression was examined both in vitro and in vivo. circCGNL1-interacting proteins were identified by performing RNA pulldown, co-immunoprecipitation, GST-pulldown, and dual-luciferase reporter assays. Results Overexpressing circCGNL1 inhibited PC proliferation via promoting apoptosis. CircCGNL1 interacted with phosphatase nudix hydrolase 4 (NUDT4) to promote histone deacetylase 4 (HDAC4) dephosphorylation and subsequent HDAC4 nuclear translocation. Intranuclear HDAC4 mediated RUNX Family Transcription Factor 2 (RUNX2) deacetylation and thereby accelerating RUNX2 degradation. The transcription factor, RUNX2, inhibited guanidinoacetate N-methyltransferase (GAMT) expression. GAMT was further verified to induce PC cell apoptosis via AMPK–AKT–Bad signaling pathway. Conclusions We discovered that circCGNL1 can interact with NUDT4 to enhance NUDT4-dependent HDAC4 dephosphorylation, subsequently activating HDAC4–RUNX2–GAMT-mediated apoptosis to suppress PC cell growth. These findings suggest new therapeutic targets for PC.

Abstract Background Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a highly malignant tumor with a poor prognosis. This study aimed to investigate whether Hemoglobin, Albumin, Lymphocytes, and Platelets (HALP) score and Tumor Burden Score (TBS) serves as independent influencing factors following radical resection in patients with ICC. Furthermore, we sought to evaluate the predictive capacity of the combined HALP and TBS grade, referred to as HTS grade, and to develop a prognostic prediction model. Methods Clinical data for ICC patients who underwent radical resection were retrospectively analyzed. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were first used to find influencing factors of prognosis for ICC. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were then used to find the optimal cut-off values for HALP score and TBS and to compare the predictive ability of HALP, TBS, and HTS grade using the area under these curves (AUC). Nomogram prediction models were constructed and validated based on the results of the multivariate analysis. Results Among 423 patients, 234 (55.3%) were male and 202 (47.8) were aged ≥ 60 years. Abstract Background Muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) is a highly aggressive disease with a poor prognosis. B cells are crucial factors in tumor suppression, and tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) facilitate immune cell recruitment to the tumor microenvironment (TME). However, the function and mechanisms of tumor-infiltrating B cells and TLSs in MIBC need to be explored further. Methods We performed single-cell RNA sequencing analysis of 11,612 B cells and 55,392 T cells from 12 bladder cancer patients and found naïve B cells, proliferating B cells, plasma cells, interferon-stimulated B cells and germinal center-associated B cells, and described the phenotype, gene enrichment, cell–cell communication, biological processes. We utilized immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF) to describe TLSs morphology in MIBC. Results The interferon-stimulated B-cell subtype (B-ISG15) and germinal center-associated B-cell subtypes (B-LMO2, B-STMN1) were significantly enriched in MIBC. TLSs in MIBC exhibited a distinct follicular structure characterized by a central region of B cells resembling a germinal center surrounded by T cells. CellChat analysis showed that CXCL13 + T cells play a pivotal role in recruiting CXCR5 + B cells. Cell migration experiments demonstrated the chemoattraction of CXCL13 toward CXCR5 + B cells. Importantly, the infiltration of the interferon-stimulated B-cell subtype and the presence of TLSs correlated with a more favorable prognosis in MIBC. Conclusions The study revealed the heterogeneity of B-cell subtypes in MIBC and suggests a pivotal role of TLSs in MIBC outcomes. Our study provides novel insights that contribute to the precision treatment of MIBC.

Abstract Exploring the cross-sensitivity between land use transformation and ecological service values in rare earth mining areas is of great significance for the development of ecological protection and restoration in rare earth mining areas. To study the impact of land use changes on ecosystem service functions in rare earth mining areas, firstly, the land use change trends in the study area from 2009 to 2019 were analyzed using the land transfer matrix; then the distribution of ecosystem service values and the flow direction of ecosystem service values in the study area were measured based on the ecosystem service value equivalents; a spatial autocorrelation analysis was done on the ecosystem service values to explore their spatial distribution patterns; and finally, the cross-sensitivity coefficient was used to quantitatively assess the extent and direction of the impact of land use change on ecosystem service values. The results show that the land use types in the study area are mainly forest land and farmland, with woodland accounting for the highest proportion of the study area. The ESV changes in the study area are consistent with the trend of land use transformation, with the overall increase and decrease being comparable, and the decrease in ESV is mainly concentrated in the areas with a large increase in mining land and construction land; during the study period, the study area was significantly reduced with low—low cluster areas and the ecological environment was improved; from 2009 to 2014, the ecological sensitivity coefficient is more variable, and is more sensitive to the net conversion between water and desert, from 2014 to 2019, the ecological sensitivity coefficient is less variable, and the most sensitive is the net conversion between cultivated land and water. The study area should be reasonably developed for rare earth resources and the ecological environment around the mining area should be reasonably protected to build an ecological security pattern.

Abstract Background Pancreatic cancer (PC) is a malignant tumor with extremely poor prognosis, exhibiting resistance to chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Nowadays, it is ranked as the third leading cause of cancer-related mortality. Glycation is a common epigenetic modification that occurs during the tumor transformation. Many studies have demonstrated a strong correlation between glycation modification and tumor progression. However, the expression status of glycosylation-related genes (GRGs) in PC and their potential roles in PC microenvironment have not been extensively investigated. Method We systematically integrated RNA sequencing data and clinicopathological parameters of PC patients from TCGA and GTEx databases. A GRGs risk model based on glycosylation related genes was constructed and validated in 60 patients from Pancreatic biobank via RT-PCR. R packages were used to analyze the relationships between GRGs risk scores and overall survival (OS), tumor microenvironment, immune checkpoint, chemotherapy drug sensitivity and tumor mutational load in PC patients. Panoramic analysis was performed on PC tissues. The function of B3GNT8 in PC was detected via in vitro experiments. Results In this study, we found close correlations between GRGs risk model and PC patients’ overall survival and tumor microenvironment. Multifaceted predictions demonstrated the low-risk cohort exhibits superior OS compared to high-risk counterparts. Meanwhile, the low-risk group was characterized by high immune infiltration and may be more sensitive to immunotherapy or chemotherapy. Panoramic analysis was further confirmed a significant relationship between the GRGs risk score and both the distribution of PC tumor cells as well as CD8 + T cell infiltration. In addition, we also identified a unique glycosylation gene B3GNT8, which could suppress PC progression in vitro and in vivo. Conclusion We established a GRGs risk model, which could predict prognosis and immune infiltration in PC patients. This risk model may provide a new tool for PC precision treatment.

Introduction Toxoplasma gondii (T.gondii) is a widespread protozoan with significant economic losses and public health importance. But so far, the protective effect of reported DNA-based vaccines fluctuates widely, and no study has demonstrated complete protection. Areas covered This review provides an inclusive summary of T. gondii DNA vaccine antigens, adjuvants, and some other parameters. A total of 140 articles from 2000 to 2021 were collected from five databases. By contrasting the outcomes of acute and chronic challenges, we aimed to investigate and identify viable immunological strategies for optimum protection. Furthermore, we evaluated and discussed the impact of several parameters on challenge outcomes in the hopes of developing some recommendations to assist better future horizontal comparisons among research. Expert opinion In the coming five years of research, the exploration of vaccine cocktails combining invasion antigens and metabolic antigens with genetic adjuvants or novel DNA delivery methods may offer us desirable protection against this multiple stage of life parasite. In addition to finding a better immune strategy, developing better in silico prediction methods, solving problems posed by variables in practical applications, and gaining a more profound knowledge of T.gondii-host molecular interaction is also crucial towards a successful vaccine.

Numerical analysis of a U-type solid oxide fuel cell stack was performed using computational fluid dynamics to investigate the effects of stack capacities and fuel/air utilization rates on the internal flow uniformity. The results indicated that increasing the fuel/air utilization rate improved the gas flow uniformity within the stack for the same stack capacity. The uniformity in the anode fluid domain was better than that in the cathode fluid domain. Furthermore, the flow uniformity within the stack was associated with the percentage of pressure drop in the core region of the stack. The larger the percentage of pressure drop in the core region, the more uniform the flow inside the stack. Additionally, under a fuel utilization rate of 75%, the computational results exhibited excessively high fuel utilization rates in the top cell of a 3 kWe stack, indicating a potential risk of fuel depletion during actual stack operation.

The study investigates the impact of textured surface parameters and pump operating parameters on the friction performance of slipper pairs in axial piston pumps. The orthogonal experimental scheme was developed, and the influence of several factors was explored, such as rotational speed, area ratio, micro-pit shape, diameter, depth-to-diameter ratio and film thickness. Optimal dimension combinations of the micro-pit were identified by numerical simulation and standard pin–disk friction experiment. In the pin–disk friction pair test, the friction coefficient of the textured surface compared to the smooth surface showed a maximum average friction reduction rate of 26.974%. Under various pump pressures (4, 8, 12 MPa) and pump displacements (10, 20, 35 L/min), the friction reduction rates of the textured surface slipper pairs (texture diameter 500 µm, depth 250 µm, area ratio 20%) ranged from 0.78% to 18.13%. The study underscores the importance of surface texture in enhancing the operational efficiency and reliability of axial piston pumps, offering valuable insights for the design and maintenance of hydraulic pumps.

This study aimed to explore the role of the trehalose-6-phosphate synthase (TPS) gene family in the adaptation of peas to environmental stress. A comprehensive analysis of the PsTPS gene family identified 20 genes with conserved domains and specific chromosomal locations. Phylogenetic analysis delineated evolutionary relationships, while gene structure analysis revealed compositional insights, and motif analysis provided functional insights. Cis-regulatory element identification predicted gene regulation patterns. Tissue-specific and stress-induced expression profiling highlighted eight genes with ubiquitous expression, with PsTPS15 and PsTPS18 displaying elevated expression levels in roots, nodules, and young stems, and PsTPS13 and PsTPS19 expression downregulated in seeds. Transcriptome analysis identified a differential expression of 20 PsTPS genes, highlighting the significance of 14 genes in response to drought and salinity stress. Notably, under drought conditions, the expression of PsTPS4 and PsTPS6 was initially upregulated and then downregulated, whereas that of PsTPS15 and PsTPS19 was downregulated. Salinity stress notably altered the expression of PsTPS4, PsTPS6, and PsTPS19. Taken together, these findings elucidate the regulatory mechanisms of the PsTPS gene family and their potential as genetic targets for enhancing crop stress tolerance.

To meet the requirements of the crab growth environment regarding aquatic plant density and improve the efficiency of aquatic plant clearing, this paper shows the development process of a fully automatic aquatic plant combing machine for crab farming. It proposed the use of torsion spring hooks to replace traditional cutting blades to break tangled aquatic plants, reducing the length of aquatic plants in dense areas and thus controlling the density of aquatic plants in crab ponds. Through theoretical analysis and calculation of the torsion spring hooks, it was ensured that they could meet the design requirements, and transient dynamic simulation tests were conducted based on ANSYS. Finally, experimental verification was carried out. The performance test results of the torsion spring hooks showed that the torsion force generated within a certain torsion angle range could break the aquatic plant, and obstacles could be avoided through self-deformation. The water performance test results showed that the average clearing efficiency of the whole machine for aquatic plants was 4.92 mu/h, the missed clearing rate of aquatic plants was 0.44%, and the crab injury rate was 0.028%. The design of this machine can provide a reference for the development of aquatic plant harvesters for crab farming.

In this study, a single-outer-spiral electrode with inductance of 20 μH is employed to couple the energy input of a bipolar nanosecond pulse for the purpose of generating a large-scale atmospheric pressure plasma jet. When the spiral electrode is wrapped around a plasma jet tube with a length of 35 cm, the electrical field can be optimized, resulting in a stable laminar flow field, and a plasma jet with a length and diameter larger than 14 cm and 1.2 cm can be generated. A comparative study of the bipolar and unipolar pulse excitation voltages is also conducted, showing that the maximum lengths of the plasma jet excited by a bipolar pulse voltage, positive pulse voltage, and negative are 14 cm, 10 cm, and 7 cm, respectively. The temporal and spatially resolved spectra of the plasma jets excited by both bipolar and unipolar pulses are investigated, respectively, and the main physiochemical processes of the active species and the plasma dynamics’ evolution are discussed.

In the quest for sustainable urban development, precise quantification of urban green space is paramount. This research delineates the implementation of a Cosine Adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization Long Short-Term Memory (CAPSO-LSTM) model, utilizing a comprehensive dataset from Beijing (1998–2021) to train and test the model. The CAPSO-LSTM model, which integrates a cosine adaptive mechanism into particle swarm optimization, advances the optimization of long short-term memory (LSTM) network hyperparameters. Comparative analyses are conducted against conventional LSTM and Partical Swarm Optimization (PSO)-LSTM frameworks, employing mean absolute error (MAE), root mean square error (RMSE), and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) as evaluative benchmarks. The findings indicate that the CAPSO-LSTM model exhibits a substantial improvement in prediction accuracy over the LSTM model, manifesting as a 66.33% decrease in MAE, a 73.78% decrease in RMSE, and a 57.14% decrease in MAPE. Similarly, when compared to the PSO-LSTM model, the CAPSO-LSTM model demonstrates a 58.36% decrease in MAE, a 65.39% decrease in RMSE, and a 50% decrease in MAPE. These results underscore the efficacy of the CAPSO-LSTM model in enhancing urban green space area prediction, suggesting its significant potential for aiding urban planning and environmental policy formulation.

BackgroundToxoplasma gondii (T. gondii) is a significant protozoan pathogen among food animals. Despite the threat to public health by T. gondii infections, there’s limited understanding of its seroprevalence and trends in food animals across mainland China. This study aimed to estimate the seroprevalence of T. gondii infections among swine, sheep, goats, chickens, and cattle in mainland China from 2010 to 2023.MethodsWe searched cross-sectional studies published between 2010 and 2023 that reported the prevalence of T. gondii in food animals from databases including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, China Biology Medicine Disc (CBM), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang data, and the China Science and Technology Journal Database (CQVIP). We performed subgroup analyses to explore the impact of different factors on the seroprevalence of T. gondii. Pooled estimates of T. gondii seroprevalence were calculated with a random-effects model.ResultsAn analysis of 184 studies involving 211985 animals revealed a T. gondii overall seroprevalence of 15.3% (95% CI: 13.1-17.8). Although the seroprevalence of food animals across mainland China was relatively stable from 2010 to 2023, notable variations were observed across different animal types and regions (P < 0.01), along with changes in geographical distribution. Sample type, detection method, animal age, and history of abortion were identified as key risk factors for T. gondii seroprevalence.ConclusionThe study conducted a meta-analysis on the seroprevalence of T. gondii in mainland China’s Food Animals from 2010 to 2023, and identified key risk factors. These findings advance our understanding of T. gondii infection dynamics, offering critical insights for developing control strategies and guiding public health policies.
