Abstract

Multimodal data has become a crucial element in the realm of big data analytics, driving advancements in data exploration, data mining, and empowering artificial intelligence applications. To support high-quality retrieval for these cutting-edge applications, a robust data retrieval platform should meet the requirements for transparent data storage, rich hybrid queries, effective feature representation, and high query efficiency. However, among the existing platforms, traditional schema-on-write systems, multi-model databases, vector databases, and data lakes, which are the primary options for multimodal data retrieval, are difficult to fulfill these requirements simultaneously. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop a more versatile multimodal data retrieval platform to address these issues. In this paper, we introduce a Multimodal Data Retrieval Platform with Query-aware Feature Representation and Learned Index based on Data Lake (MQRLD). It leverages the transparent storage capabilities of data lakes, integrates the multimodal open API to provide a unified interface that supports rich hybrid queries, introduces a query-aware multimodal data feature representation strategy to obtain effective features, and offers high-dimensional learned indexes to optimize data query. We conduct a comparative analysis of the query performance of MQRLD against other methods for rich hybrid queries. Our results underscore the superior efficiency of MQRLD in handling multimodal data retrieval tasks, demonstrating its potential to significantly improve retrieval performance in complex environments. Abstract

Abstract TP53 mutation (TP53-mut) correlates with inferior survival in many cancers, whereas its prognostic role in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is still in controversy. Therefore, more precise risk stratification needs to be further explored for TP53-mut DLBCL patients. A set of 2637 DLBCL cases from multiple cohorts, was enrolled in our analysis. Among the 2637 DLBCL patients, 14.0% patients (370/2637) had TP53-mut. Since missense mutations account for the vast majority of TP53-mut DLBCL patients, and most non-missense mutations affect the function of the P53 protein, leading to worse survival rates, we distinguished patients with missense mutations. A TP53 missense mutation risk model was constructed based on a 150-combination machine learning computational framework, demonstrating excellent performance in predicting prognosis. Further analysis revealed that patients with high-risk missense mutations are significantly associated with early progression and exhibit dysregulation of multiple immune and metabolic pathways at the transcriptional level. Additionally, the high-risk group showed an absolutely suppressed immune microenvironment. To stratify the entire cohort of TP53-mut DLBCL, we combined clinical characteristics and ultimately constructed the TP53 Prognostic Index (TP53PI) model. In summary, we identified the truly high-risk TP53-mut DLBCL patients and explained this difference at the mutation and transcriptional levels.

Abstract

The merging of human intelligence and artificial intelligence has long been a subject of interest in both science fiction and academia. In this paper, we introduce a novel concept in Human-AI interaction called Symbiotic Artificial Intelligence with Shared Sensory Experiences (SAISSE), which aims to establish a mutually beneficial relationship between AI systems and human users through shared sensory experiences. By integrating multiple sensory input channels and processing human experiences, SAISSE fosters a strong human-AI bond, enabling AI systems to learn from and adapt to individual users, providing personalized support, assistance, and enhancement. Furthermore, we discuss the incorporation of memory storage units for long-term growth and development of both the AI system and its human user. As we address user privacy and ethical guidelines for responsible AI-human symbiosis, we also explore potential biases and inequalities in AI-human symbiosis and propose strategies to mitigate these challenges. Our research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the SAISSE concept and its potential to effectively support and enhance individual human users through symbiotic AI systems. This position article aims at discussing poteintial AI-human interaction related topics within the scientific community, rather than providing experimental or theoretical results.

16. ChatLLM Network: More brains, More intelligence

Abstract

Dialogue-based language models mark a huge milestone in the field of artificial intelligence, by their impressive ability to interact with users, as well as a series of challenging tasks prompted by customized instructions. However, the prevalent large-scale dialogue-based language models like ChatGPT still have room for improvement, such as unstable responses to questions and the inability to think cooperatively like humans. Considering the ability of dialogue-based language models in conversation and their inherent randomness in thinking, we propose ChatLLM network that allows multiple dialogue-based language models to interact, provide feedback, and think together. We design the network of ChatLLMs based on ChatGPT. Specifically, individual instances of ChatGPT may possess distinct perspectives towards the same problem, and by consolidating these diverse viewpoints via a separate ChatGPT, the ChatLLM network system can conduct decision-making more objectively and comprehensively. In addition, a language-based feedback mechanism comparable to backpropagation is devised to update the ChatGPTs within the network. Experiments on two datasets demonstrate that our network attains significant improvements in problem-solving, leading to observable progress amongst each member.

Abstract

Phospholipids, a class of polar lipids with complex structure and multiple functions, are composed of glycerophospholipids and sphingomyelins. As an important component of cell membranes, phospholipids are involved in many physiological activities, such as cell signal transduction, lipid droplet formation and cell apoptosis. The transformation, hydrolysis and oxidation of phospholipids impart meat and meat products with unique texture, flavor and nutritional quality. The functional properties of phospholipids vary with their polar groups and the type of fatty acids at the sn-1/sn-2 positions, and lipidomics provides powerful technical support for the structural confirmation and characterization of phospholipids. In this article, the structures and functions of phospholipids and the methods for their detection and analysis are reviewed with a focus on recent progress in research on how phospholipids are involved in intramuscular fat deposition in farm animals and regulate the quality of fresh meat and processed meat products, in order to provide references for precise regulation of the quality of livestock and poultry meat.

Abstract

Cooperative coordination at unsignalized road intersections, which aims to improve the driving safety and traffic throughput for connected and automated vehicles, has attracted increasing interests in recent years. However, most existing investigations either suffer from computational complexity or cannot harness the full potential of the road infrastructure. To this end, we first present a dedicated intersection coordination framework, where the involved vehicles hand over their control authorities and follow instructions from a centralized coordinator. Then a unified cooperative trajectory optimization problem will be formulated to maximize the traffic throughput while ensuring the driving safety and long-term stability of the coordination system. To address the key computational challenges in the real-world deployment, we reformulate this non-convex sequential decision problem into a model-free Markov Decision Process (MDP) and tackle it by devising a Twin Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (TD3)-based strategy in the deep reinforcement learning (DRL) framework. Simulation and practical experiments show that the proposed strategy could achieve near-optimal performance in sub-static coordination scenarios and significantly improve the traffic throughput in the realistic continuous traffic flow.
