Robotics and automation are the key industries supporting Thailand's strategic initiatives toward Thailand 4.0. This paper presents the development of an industry roadmap guiding the future research and development of related technologies in Thailand. The roadmap project was recently conducted during 2021–2022. The strategic targets for the future development of robotics and automation in Thailand were set to increase productivity and reduce adoption cost for the short term (2022–2023); create market opportunities for AI and industrial IoT technologies with data platform for the medium term (2024–2026); and prepare the Industry 5.0 system supporting emerging applications of digital twins and metaverse for the long term (2027–2030). Roadmapping is an established visual mapping method used widely in a variety of organizations. It navigates technology and strategic planning in a structured manner for improved strategy development and decision-making. However, roadmapping implementation can be challenging particularly when initiating in corporate organizations due to the broad range of stakeholder involvement. This paper examines the background history and lessons learned from IHI Corporation, a leading Japanese heavy industry manufacturer, to provide insights regarding how roadmapping implementation can be initiated effectively in corporate settings. Using the roadmapping maturity model for analysis and discussion, this paper contributes to both industrial practice and academic understanding of roadmapping implementation maturity. Economic development must occur alongside environmental sustainability. The circular economy (CE) in an industrial context is a critical area that has been widely studied. However, the scope of the CE is broad and involves the development of various fields, ranging from energy and production to digitalization. The areas targeted for CE development also vary according to the stage of economic development. Many firms increasingly collaborate with universities to create innovation through the commercialization of scientific knowledge. However, a variety of mismatches between a firm's interests and the value delivered by university partners (e.g., common knowledge base, strategic goals, agreements on intellectual property management, etc.) can cause rough interactions and relationships. Therefore, managers demand an effective practice to support the management of university-industry collaborations (UICs). This article builds on the previous work on a matching quality assessment model by extending its applicability to propose an analytical framework for developing a strategic roadmap to guide relationship development toward effective UIC.
