Abstract

We have designed a simple and efficient method for the synthesis of 2-Arylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-3-carbaldehyde from imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines with a mixture of DMF and POCl3 in presence of PEG-400 as a green reaction medium under microwave irradiation at 400 watt, and 90 0C. The main advantages of this protocol compared to other previously developed methods, were its mild reaction condition, high yield percentage, short reaction time, clean reaction profile, and avoidance of toxic catalysts, hazardous organic solvents, and waste production.
