Mesoscale eddies have attracted increased attention due to their central role in ocean energy and mass transport. The observations of their three-dimensional structure will facilitate the understanding of nonlinear eddy dynamics. In this paper, we propose a novel framework, the mesoscale eddy characterization from ordinal modalities recurrence networks method (MeC-OMRN), that utilizes a Petrel-II underwater glider for in situ observations and vertical structure characterization of a moving mesoscale eddy in the northern South China Sea. First, higher resolution continuous observation profile data collected throughout the traversal by the underwater glider are acquired and preprocessed. Subsequently, we analyze and compute these nonlinear data. To further amplify the hidden structural features of the mesoscale eddy, we construct ordinal modalities sequences rich in spatiotemporal characteristics based on the measured vertical density of the mesoscale eddy. Based on this, we employ ordinal modalities recurrence plots (OMRPs) to depict the vertical structure inside and outside the eddy, revealing significant differences in the OMRPs and the unevenness of density stratification within the eddy. To validate our intriguing findings from the perspective of complex network theory, we build the multivariate weighted ordinal modalities recurrence networks, through which network measures exhibit a more random distribution of vertical density stratification within the eddy, possibly due to more intense vertical convection and oscillations within the eddy's seawater micelles. Driving fatigue has been one of the major causes of traffic accident. Efficient and accurate detection of driving fatigue are a legitimate public concern. In this paper, we conduct the simulated driving experiments and an EEG-based driving fatigue detection framework integrating multilayer brain network and convolutional neural network (CNN) is developed. This lightweight attention-based multi-frequency topology learning (AMFTL) framework first captures the fatigue-related multi-frequency brain topological information and then feeds it into a CNN-based topology feature extraction (TFE) module to fully explore and integrate the critical topological features. The quantitative analysis results show that there are significant differences in brain topologies between the alert and fatigue states. And experimental results show that our proposed framework achieves an average detection accuracy of 94.71% for driving fatigue, which outperforms the current state-of-the-art methods. Using electroencephalography (EEG) signals to drive a vehicle could help disabled people expand their range of motion and improve their independence. A brain-controlled vehicle (BCV) is a vehicle that is commanded by analyzing EEG signals. However, the analysis and transmission effect of EEG signals is not ideal, the driving performance of the BCV solely relying on EEG signals is relatively poor. In this paper, to solve this problem, we propose a dynamic shared control method based on adaptive network-based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). First, an ANFIS intelligent controller is designed to automatically make decisions according to the state of the vehicle. Then, safety coefficient and intention coefficient are proposed to evaluate the safety and driving intention of the brain-controlled driver. Finally, a fuzzy controller with safety and intention coefficients as inputs and brain-controlled driver weights as outputs is designed. The controller is the embodiment of a human–machine interaction, which allows the driver to maintain maximum control authority over the BCV under safe conditions by dynamically balancing the control authority of the brain-controlled driver and the ANFIS controller on the BCV. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, a joint simulation platform of Carsim and Matlab is established, and several groups of comparative simulation experiments are carried out, through which, it is demonstrated that the proposed method can effectively avoid road deviation while well maintaining the control authority of the brain-controlled driver. Underwater glider (UG) plays an important role in ocean observation and exploration for a more efficient and deeper understanding of complex ocean environment. Timely identifying the motion states of UG is conducive for timely attitude adjustment and detection of potential anomalies, thereby improving the working reliability of UG. Combining limited penetrable visibility graph (LPVG) and graph convolutional networks (GCN) with self-attention mechanisms, we propose a novel method for motion states identification of UG, which is called as visibility graph and self-attention mechanism-based graph convolutional network (VGSA-GCN). Based on the actual sea trial data of UG, we chose the attitude angle signals of motion states related sensors collected by the control system of UG as the research object and constructed complex networks based on the LPVG method from pitch angle, roll angle, and heading angle data in diving and climbing states. Then, we build a self-attention mechanism-based GCN framework and classify the graphs under different motion states constructed by a complex network. Compared with support vector machines, convolutional neural network, and GCN without self-attention pooling layer, the proposed VGSA-GCN method can more accurately distinguish the diving and climbing states of UG. Subsequently, we analyze the variation of the transitivity coefficient corresponding to these two motion states. The results suggest that the coordination of the various sensors in the attitude adjustment unit during diving becomes closer and more efficient, which corresponds to the higher network measure of the diving state compared to the climbing state. Image analysis can play an important role in supporting histopathological diagnoses of lung cancer, with deep learning methods already achieving remarkable results. However, due to the large scale of whole-slide images (WSIs), creating manual pixel-wise annotations from expert pathologists is expensive and time-consuming. In addition, the heterogeneity of tumors and similarities in the morphological phenotype of tumor subtypes have caused inter-observer variability in annotations, which limits optimal performance. Effective use of weak labels could potentially alleviate these issues. In this paper, we propose a two-stage transformer-based weakly supervised learning framework called Simple Shuffle-Remix Vision Transformer (SSRViT). Firstly, we introduce a Shuffle-Remix Vision Transformer (SRViT) to retrieve discriminative local tokens and extract effective representative features. Then, the token features are selected and aggregated to generate sparse representations of WSIs, which are fed into a simple transformer-based classifier (SViT) for slide-level prediction. Experimental results demonstrate that the performance of our proposed SSRViT is significantly improved compared with other state-of-the-art methods in discriminating between adenocarcinoma, pulmonary sclerosing pneumocytoma and normal lung tissue (accuracy of 96.9% and AUC of 99.6%).

Constructing reliable and effective models to recognize human emotional states has become an important issue in recent years. In this article, we propose a double way deep residual neural network combined with brain network analysis, which enables the classification of multiple emotional states. To begin with, we transform the emotional EEG signals into five frequency bands by wavelet transform and construct brain networks by inter-channel correlation coefficients. These brain networks are then fed into a subsequent deep neural network block which contains several modules with residual connection and enhanced by channel attention mechanism and spatial attention mechanism. In the second way of the model, we feed the emotional EEG signals directly into another deep neural network block to extract temporal features. At the end of the two ways, the features are concatenated for classification. To verify the effectiveness of our proposed model, we carried out a series of experiments to collect emotional EEG from eight subjects. The average accuracy of the proposed model on our emotional dataset is 94.57%. In addition, the evaluation results on public databases SEED and SEED-IV are 94.55% and 78.91%, respectively, demonstrating the superiority of our model in emotion recognition tasks.
