Presently, traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading contributor to disability and mortality that places a considerable financial burden on countries all over the world. Docosahexaenoic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid are two kinds of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (ω-3 PUFA), both of which have been shown to have beneficial biologically active anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. However, the neuroprotective effect of ω-3 PUFA in TBI has not been proven, and its probable mechanism remains obscure. We suppose that ω-3 PUFA can alleviate early brain injury (EBI) via regulating necroptosis and neuroinflammation after TBI. This research intended to examine the neuroprotective effect of ω-3 and its possible molecular pathways in a C57BL/6 mice model of EBI caused by TBI. Cognitive function was assessed by measuring the neuronal necroptosis, neuroinflammatory cytokine levels, brain water content, and neurological score. The findings demonstrate that administration of ω-3 remarkably elevated neurological scores, alleviated cerebral edema, and reduced inflammatory cytokine levels of NF-κB, interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-6, and TNF-α, illustrating that ω-3 PUFA attenuated neuroinflammation, necroptosis, and neuronal cell death following TBI. The PPARγ/NF-κB signaling pathway is partially responsible for the neuroprotective activity of ω-3. Collectively, our findings illustrate that ω-3 can alleviate EBI after TBI against neuroinflammation and necroptosis.

Mango has frequently encountered severe climate and environmental challenges such as low temperatures, seriously affecting the sustainable development of the industry. In the study, physiological measurements showed that the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and peroxidase (POD) were found to be higher in Jinhuang (JH) mango plants than those of Tainong (TN) mango plants under cold stress, indicating cold tolerant (JH) and non-cold tolerant (TN) mango varieties were firstly determined. Subsequently, transcriptomics showed 8,337 and 7,996 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were respectively identified in JH and TN mango varieties treated at 4 °C for 36 h, while more DEGs (10,683 and 10,723) were screened when treated at 4 °C for 72 h. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) of the selected DEGs confirmed their transcriptional levels displayed agreement to the transcriptome data. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses showed two primary cold resistant regulation pathways, photosynthesis-antenna proteins pathway and photosynthesis pathway, were both significant annotated in the two mango varieties, indicating share the common regulation mechanism response to cold stress. However, five specific cold resistant pathways, such as amino acid and carbohydrate metabolisms, were identified in JH mango variety with cold stress for longer duration, indicating the specific regulation pathways in the cold tolerant mango varieties. Furthermore, 43 ethylene-responsive transcription factors (ERFs) were significantly annotated in JH mango after cold-treated for 72 h comparing with the control group, and three of them ERF109-1, ERF017-1 and ERF017-2 were highly expressed, which may play important regulatory roles in plant cold resistance. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most common subtype of lung cancer, which ranks as the first malignant tumor in mortality. The occurrence and development of NSCLC are closely related to the tumor microenvironment (TME). Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in the tumor microenvironment are considered to be critical regulators of the occurrence and development of NSCLC, which have essential effects on multiple biological characteristics of NSCLC. The hallmarks of cancer biology have been updated recently, however, there are no reviews revisiting the function of CAFs in tumor microenvironment. This article reviews the origin, markers, and classification of CAFs, their impacts on the characteristics of NSCLC, and potential therapeutic targets of CAFs to help develop individualized treatment plans for NSCLC. Plant resistance against biotic stressors is significantly influenced by pathogenesis-related 1 (PR1) proteins. This study examines the systematic identification and characterization of PR1 family genes in sugarcane (Saccharum spontaneum Np-X) and the transcript expression of selected genes in two sugarcane cultivars (ROC22 and Zhongtang3) in response to Ustilago scitaminea pathogen infection. A total of 18 SsnpPR1 genes were identified at the whole-genome level and further categorized into four groups. Notably, tandem and segmental duplication occurrences were detected in one and five SsnpPR1 gene pairs, respectively. The SsnpPR1 genes exhibited diverse physio-chemical attributes and variations in introns/exons and conserved motifs. Notably, four SsnpPR1 (SsnpPR1.02/05/09/19) proteins displayed a strong protein–protein interaction network. The transcript expression of three SsnpPR1 (SsnpPR1.04/06/09) genes was upregulated by 1.2–2.6 folds in the resistant cultivar (Zhongtang3) but downregulated in the susceptible cultivar (ROC22) across different time points as compared to the control in response to pathogen infection. Additionally, SsnpPR1.11 was specifically upregulated by 1.2–3.5 folds at 24–72 h post inoculation (hpi) in ROC22, suggesting that this gene may play an important negative regulatory role in defense responses to pathogen infection. The genetic improvement of sugarcane can be facilitated by our results, which also establish the basis for additional functional characterization of SsnpPR1 genes in response to pathogenic stress. Aims: To explore the effects of mother‐infant skin‐to‐skin contact on mother‐infant relationship and maternal psychology feelings. Design: An exploratory qualitative research design using semi‐structured interviews. Methods: A total of 64 mother‐infant pairs who met the inclusion criteria were selected as the experimental subjects to receive early and continuous intervention of mother‐infant skin‐to‐skin contact (SSC). On this basis, the qualitative research method of procedural grounded theory was used to conduct semi‐structured interviews with 18 puerperas before discharge from the hospital; the three‐level coding method of procedural grounded theory and Graneheim & Lundman qualitative content analysis method were combined to conductinterview content analysis in Nvivo 12 software, so as to extractcore categories and condense the theme. Results: (1) The data were coded to extract five core categories, namely, birth experience, role transition, contact perception, mother‐infant connection and parental efficacy; (2) there were statistically significant differences in the number of coding reference points in five nodes before and after SSC, that is, mothers' positive feelings, newborns' physical characteristics noticed by their mothers, mother‐infant connection, role transition and birth experience. The number of coding reference points after SSC was statistically significant greater than before SSC; (3) The coding interview results showed that SSC could promote the sense of happiness in nurturing. A 7-year-old boy had a reddish plaque on the right knee for one year. Histopathological examination showed hyperorthokeratosis, parakeratosis, acanthosis cell layer thickening, basal vacuolization and dense dermal lymphoid infiltrates, admixed with numerous plasma cells.
