Myocardial ischaemia is a decompensation of the oxygen supply and demand ratio, often caused by coronary atherosclerosis. During the initial stage of ischaemia, the electrical activity of the heart is disrupted, increasing the risk of malignant arrhythmias. The aim of this study is to understand the differential behaviour of the ECG during occlusion of both the left anterior descending (LAD) and right anterior coronary artery (RCA), respectively, using spatio-temporal quantifiers from information theory. A standard 12-lead ECG was recorded for each patient in the database. The control condition was obtained initially. Then, a percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty procedure (PTCA), which encompassed the occlusion/reperfusion period, was performed. To evaluate information quantifiers, the Bandt and Pompe permutation method was used to estimate the probability distribution associated with the electrocardiographic vector modulus. Subsequently, we analysed the positioning in the H×C causal plane for the control and ischaemia. In LAD occlusion, decreased entropy and increased complexity can be seen, i.e., the behaviour is more predictable with an increase in the degree of complexity of the system. RCA occlusion had the opposite effects, i.e., the phenomenon is less predictable and exhibits a lower degree of organisation. Finally, both entropy and complexity decrease during the reperfusion phase in LAD and RCA cases.

Eucalyptus covers approximately 7.5 million hectares in Brazil and serves as the primary woody species cultivated for commercial purposes. However, native insects and invasive pests pose a significant threat to eucalyptus trees, resulting in substantial economic losses and reduced forest productivity. One of the primary lepidopteran pests affecting eucalyptus is Thyrinteina arnobia (Stoll, 1782) (Lepidoptera: Geometridae), commonly referred to as the brown looper caterpillar. To address this issue, FuturaGene, the biotech division of Suzano S.A., has developed an insect-resistant (IR) eucalyptus variety, which expresses Cry pesticidal proteins (Cry1Ab, Cry1Bb, and Cry2Aa), derived from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt). Following extensive safety assessments, including field trials across various biomes in Brazil, the Brazilian National Technical Commission of Biosafety (CTNBio) recently approved the commercialization of IR eucalyptus. The biosafety assessments involved the analysis of molecular genomics, digestibility, thermostability, non-target organism exposure, degradability in the field, and effects on soil microbial communities and arthropod communities. In addition, in silico studies were conducted to evaluate allergenicity and toxicity. Results from both laboratory and field studies indicated that Bt eucalyptus is as safe as the conventional eucalyptus clone for humans, animals, and the environment, ensuring the secure use of this insect-resistant trait in wood production.

En los valles irrigados de Río Negro y Neuquén, el cultivo de álamos acompañó históricamente la producción agrícola, utilizándose clones de Populus nigra L. en cortinas rompeviento y clones de Populus xcanadensis Moench. para las forestaciones en macizo. Buscando ampliar la disponibilidad de genotipos para los diferentes sitios de cultivo, se instaló un ensayo comparativo con trece clones de álamo en la localidad de Pomona, Provincia de Río Negro. Se evaluaron seis clones de P. xcanadensis ('Triplo', 'Ragonese 22 INTA', "Pangui INTA", "Pudú INTA", y los testigos comerciales 'Conti 12' e 'I-214'), seis clones de P. deltoides ('Harvard', 'Onda', 'Stoneville 67', 'Carabelas INTA', "20-82" y "C-657") y un clon de P. xcanescens. Se utilizó un diseño experimental de bloques completos al azar (DBCA) con quince repeticiones y parcelas de una planta. Luego de cuatro períodos de crecimiento, 'I-214' y 'Triplo' tuvieron los mayores incrementos de DAP, no encontrándose diferencias significativas con los valores de 'Conti 12', 'Ragonese 22 INTA', "Pangui INTA", "Pudú INTA", "20-82" y P. xcanescens. Los menores crecimientos fueron observados en los deltoides 'Stoneville 67' y "C- 657". Los clones 'Ragonese 22 INTA', 'Triplo' y "20-82" constituyen alternativas para el cultivo de álamos en macizos y cortinas rompeviento.

Underground Hydrogen Storage (UHS) in the subsurface is an alternative to overcome limitations associated with a fluctuating production of renewable energy sources. The excess energy produced can be converted to hydrogen and stored in porous media. Hydrogen is injected and produced from geological formations via wells. There are several concerns regarding the interactions of hydrogen with the different well components responsible for maintaining proper well integrity, such as cement. This experimental study investigates the interaction between molecular hydrogen and cement Class H by characterizing samples using different physical and chemical tests. Results showed samples exposed to molecular hydrogen exhibited a greater compressive strength in both the short and long terms. Porosity and permeability were found to be lower in samples exposed to molecular hydrogen. NMR distributions showed a reduction of larger pores and an increase of smaller pore spaces. Acoustic velocities showed an increase of Young's Modulus, Shear's Modulus and a slight decrease in Poisson's ratio. The compositional analysis demonstrated that hydrogen presence increases the amount of portlandite and ettringite formed. The crystalline needle-shaped structure observed in the SEM confirmed the presence of portlandite and ettringite within some of the larger pores. This experimental study showed that molecular hydrogen present could increase the formation of portlandite and ettringite, causing a shift in the porosity distribution increasing the mechanical strength of the cement. • Hydrogen does not negatively impact cement during underground hydrogen storage. • Hydrogen increases hydrated product formation in cement after 168 days. • Exposed samples show higher strength and lower porosity and permeability. • Hydrogen affects cement composition, microstructure, and pore size distribution. • Results showed molecular hydrogen improves well integrity. Introduction. Major Outpatient Surgery (MOS) is an organizational and management model for surgical care that allows selected patients to be treated efficiently and safely. Our objective was to evaluate the quality of the different activities through standardized quality indicators, analyzing whether they have been modified during the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and methods. An observational and comparative descriptive study of the quality indicators (QI) of MOS in our Pediatric Surgery Department from 2019 to 2020 was carried out. In accordance with the International Association for Ambulatory Surgery (IAAS) and the recommendations of the Spanish Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs, we assessed the basic quality and the degree of family satisfaction of patients undergoing MOS. Results. A total of 848 and 652 interventions were performed in 2019 and 2020, respectively, with a mean age of 6 and 7 years. 539 (ambulatory rate (AR) 63.6%) and 465 (AR 71.3%) MOS surgeries were conducted in 2019 and 2020. In 2019, the overall substitution rate (SR) was 96.8%, hospitalization rate (HR) was 1.67%, suspension rate was 5.94%, and readmission rate was 1.48%. In 2020, the overall IS was 98.3%, HR was 0.86%, suspension rate was 4.73%, and readmission rate was 1.72%. No differences were found in terms of satisfaction between 2020 and 2019. Conclusions. QI allow us to know and analyze the performance and results of the different management units. In our department, the COVID-19 pandemic has not reduced the quality of CMA care.
