Given the benefits of bacteria associated with the rhizosphere and phytoplane of halophytes, this research focused on examining the plant growth-promoting characteristics of bacteria isolated from Cressa cretica, Suaeda aegyptiaca, and Alhagi graecorum. From the 33 isolates tested, 9 exhibited plant growth-promoting traits. Bacillus rugosus strain CS5 and Bacillus sp. strain SS4 exhibited the notable growth inhibition of the pathogenic fungus Fusarium oxysporum, with values of 47% and 45%, respectively. Bacillus sp. strains SS4 and CS1 demonstrated impressive results in solubilizing phosphorus and zinc, respectively, achieving concentrations of 259 and 271 mg L -1 . Additionally, Staphylococcus xylosus strain SR2, Bacillus sp. strain SS4, and Bacillus paralicheniformis strain CR1 thrived in nitrogen-free media. The Priestia filamentosa strain AL4 showed the greatest HCN production, whereas B. paralicheniformis strain CR1 was notable for higher auxin production. The Bacillus sp. strains SS4 and CS1 exhibited greater tolerance than other isolates in a medium containing 600 mM of NaCl. Additionally, inoculating these isolates into soil significantly alleviated the salinity and drought stress on Zea mays seedlings. Oliveria decumbens is a folkloric medicinal plant belonging to the Apiaceae family, traditionally utilized to treat various diseases like gastrointestinal disorders, fever, and wounds. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the plant's phytochemical composition and biological properties, with potential implications for various industries and avenues of further research. The data presented here has been compiled through searches utilizing the keyword "Oliveria" across scientific databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and SciFinder. Carvacrol and thymol have been identified as the primary volatile constituents, though the complete profile of the plant extract remains to be fully elucidated. Notably, Oliveria decumbens essential oil exhibits significant antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, and anticancer properties. Additionally, the plant extract demonstrates promising antiprotozoal, antiviral, hepatoprotective, and immunostimulant effects, although these findings are primarily derived from preliminary studies. While in vitro and in vivo investigations have validated some traditional uses of O. decumbens, further pre-clinical testing is warranted to ascertain both efficacy and safety profiles. Globally cultivated cereals are frequently threatened by various plant pathogenic agents such as Fusarium fungi. To combat these pathogens, researchers have made nanoparticles as potential agricultural pesticides. In this study, selenium and titanium dioxide NPs were synthesized using Trichoderma harzianum metabolites. Characterization of the NPs indicated varying size and shapes of both NPs and functional groups existence to constitute both NPs. The evaluation of antifungal activity of NPs against plant pathogenic fungi, Fusarium culmorum, indicated both NPs maximum antifungal activity at concentration of 100 mg/L. The impacts of nanoparticles on some beneficial plant growth promoting bacteria (PGPB) were evaluated and showed their inhibition effect on optical density of PGPB at a concentration of 100 mg/L but they did not have any impact on nitrogen fixation by bacteria. Existence of TiO 2 NPs reduced the intensity of color change to pink compared to the control indicating auxin production. Both NPs demonstrated different impact on phosphate solubilization index. This study suggests that the synthesized nanoparticles have the potential to serve as antifungal compounds at special concentration against plant diseases without significantly reducing the potential of PGPB at low concentrations., (© 2024. Potential of Arthrobacter citreus B27Pet, Bacillus thuringiensis B48Pet and Candida catnulata to produce biosurfactant using four different carbon sources (naphthalene, hexadecane, diesel and petroleum crude oil) was investigated. Removal of petroleum crude oil from aqueous culture and degradation of diesel were also determined using single and mixed culture of strains. The biofilm existence in single and mixed culture of strains was considered using naphthalene, hexadecane and diesel in culture medium. Cell surface hydrophobicity of A. citreus was higher than other isolates which also showed maximum surface tension reduction and emulsification index. As a whole, remarkable biosurfactant production occurred using petroleum crude oil as a carbon source in medium. A. citreus was found to be more robust than other tested strains in removal efficiency of crude oil due to its biosurfactant production capability. Statistically significant positive correlation was observed between biofilm existence and surface tension using diesel and hexadecane as carbon source. Biosurfactants are amphiphilic compounds with extensive applications in oily contaminated environments to remove hydrocarbons. Moreover, enzymes such as laccase and manganese peroxidase are responsible for the oxidation of a variety of phenolic compounds and aromatic amines. Therefore, in the present study, bacteria with the potential to produce biosurfactants and enzymes (namely, laccase, manganese peroxidase, and endoglucanase carboxymethyl cellulose (CMCase)) were isolated from petroleum oil-contaminated soil. From 15 isolated bacteria, three isolates were selected as the best producers of biosurfactants according to the related tests, such as tests for surface tension reduction. These three bacteria indicated tolerance to a salinity test and were classified as resistant and very resistant. The isolates 3, 12, 13, and 14 showed positive results for the degradation of guaiacol, phenol red, and carboxymethylcellulose, as well as the decoloration of methylene blue by the creation of a clear halo around the bacterial colony. Upon the quantitation of the laccase and manganese peroxidase activities, 22.58 U/L and 21.81 U/L, respectively, were measured by isolate 13. Furthermore, CMCase activity was recorded with 0.057436 U/ml belonging to isolate 14. Bacterial strains with appreciable laccase, peroxidase, CMCase activity, and biosurfactant production potentials were identified through 16S rDNA sequence analysis as Bacillus sp. (isolate 3), Bacillus toyonensis (isolate 12), Bacillus cereus (isolate 13), and Bacillus tropicus (isolate 14), and their nucleotide sequences were deposited in the GenBank. As a primary goal, cadmium (Cd) is a heavy metal pollutant that is readily adsorbed and retained in rice, and it becomes a serious threat to food safety and human health. Fungi have attracted interest for their ability to remove heavy metals from the environment, although the underlying mechanisms of how fungi defend against Cd toxicity are still unclear. In this study, a Cd-resistant fungus Trametes pubescens (T. pubescens) was investigated. Pot experiments of rice seedlings colonized with T. pubescens showed that their coculture could significantly enhance rice seedling growth and reduce Cd accumulation in rice tissues. Furthermore, integrated transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses were used to explore how T. pubescens would reprogram its metabolic network against reactive oxygen species (ROS) caused by Cd toxicity. Based on multi-omic data mining results, we postulated that under Cd stress, T. pubescens was able to upregulate both the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and phosphatidylinositol signaling pathways, which enhanced the nitrogen flow from amino acids metabolism through glutaminolysis to α-ketoglutarate (α-KG), one of the entering points of tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle within mitochondria; it thus increased the production of energy equivalents, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) for T. pubescens to resist oxidative damage.
