We present an investigation into the magnetism exhibited by AMY2 compounds characterized by a chalcopyrite structure, where A can be Cu or Ag, M can be Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, or Fe, and Y can be either S or Se. By substituting M atoms at the Ga position of AGaY2 compounds, the magnetic properties were calculated using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave method under the generalized gradient approximation and local spin density approximation with the WIEN2K code. The obtained spin-polarized results confirmed the presence of ferromagnetic and half-metallic (HM) properties in AMY2 compounds (A = Cu, Ag; M = Ti, V, Cr, Mn; Y = S, Se), wherein the HM property is preserved through p-d hybridization of p states of Y (S, Se) atoms with d (t2g) states of M (M = Ti, V, Cr, Mn) atoms, and minimal contribution of −s states of A (A = Cu, Ag) atoms. The total magnetic moments for AMY2 compounds were calculated as 1.00, 2.00, 3.00, and 4.00 µB/f.u. for M = Ti, V, Cr, Mn, respectively. For AFeY2 compounds (A = Cu, Ag; Y = S, Se), electronic band structures for both up spin and down spin states were identical, suggesting antiferromagnetic behavior at equilibrium, while AScY2 compounds (A = Cu, Ag; Y = S, Se) exhibited nonmagnetic properties at equilibrium. Overall, the accurate HM properties of AMY2 materials suggest promising prospects for their utilization in spintronics and magnetic storage device applications.

Image enhancement is an indispensable pre-processing step for several image processing applications. Mainly, histogram equalization is one of the widespread techniques used by various researchers to improve the image quality by expanding the pixel values to fill the entire dynamic grayscale. It results in the visual artifact, structural information loss near edges due to the information loss (due to many-to-one mapping), and alteration in average luminance to a higher value. This paper proposes an enhancement algorithm based on structural information for homogeneous background images. The intensities are divided into two segments using the median value to preserve the average luminance. Unlike traditional techniques, this algorithm incorporates the spatial locations in the equalization process instead of the number of intensity values occurrences. The occurrences of each intensity concerning their spatial locations are combined using Rènyi entropy to enumerate a discrete function. An adaptive clipping limit is applied to the discrete function to control the enhancement rate. Then histogram equalization is performed on each segment separately, and the equalized segments are integrated to produce an enhanced image. The algorithm’s effectiveness is validated by evaluating the proposed method on CEED, CSIQ, LOL, and TID2013 databases. Experimental results reveal that the proposed method improves the contrast while preserving structural information, detail information, and average luminance. They are quantified by the high value of contrast improvement index, structural similarity index, and discrete entropy, and low value of average mean brightness error values of the proposed method when compared with the methods available in the literature, including deep learning architectures.

Cardiovascular diseases are the primary reason for mortality worldwide. As per WHO survey report in 2019, 17.9 million people died due to CVDs, accounting for 32% of all global deaths. Among these, heart attacks and strokes were responsible for 85%, whereas CVDs caused 38% of the premature deaths (under age of 70) affected by non-communicable diseases. The rate of death can be delayed and may be prevented by efficiently analyzing the ECG signals (i.e., captured by a non-invasive method) at the early stage of the disease. QRS complex in ECG provides pivotal information about the heart diseases. Many researchers have analyzed the ECG signal by traditional approach and machine learning methods for identifying the heart disorders. Performance of these techniques depend on accurate detection of different parameters (such as: P-, Q-, R-, S-, T-waveforms, QRS complex duration, R-peak, PR-interval, and RR-interval) from the ECG signals. This review paper provides a detail discussion and comparison of various ECG analysis techniques along with their pros and cons. It summarizes the ECG capturing method, databases available for disease detection & classification, and performance measures used by the researchers. Based on these, a future road map is suggested for real time ECG analysis (for identifying the heart related conditions) captured from the wearable devices and suggested the precautionary steps by the artificial system and experts. This method will help in identifying the co-relation of heart disorders with other body organs (such as: retina and brain parts) by analyzing ECG, fundus image, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of human brain.

We present a comprehensive investigation of the electromagnetic properties of CdAB2 compounds, where A represents Cr, Mn, or Fe, and B denotes P or As. To investigate the spin-polarized behavior of these compounds the A atoms were substituted at the Group IV (Ge) position in CdGeB2 in the chalcopyrite crystal structure. Our results reveal that all the CdAB2 compounds exhibit compelling spin-splitting of energy states near the Fermi level (EF). Notably, CdAB2 materials with A = Cr and Mn exhibit intriguing half-metallic ferromagnetic (HMF) characteristics, with the calculated total magnetic moments of 2.00 and 3.00 µB/f.u., respectively. The HMF properties originated in CdAB2 (A = Cr and Mn; B = P, As) these compounds owing to the hybridization of partially filled -3d(t2g) states of A atoms with the p-states of B (P, As) atoms, with minor contributions from Cd’s-like states. In contrast, CdFeB2 displays distinct behavior, demonstrating spin-splitting of energy levels around the EF indicative of a stable ferromagnetic (FM) state and the absence of HMF at their equilibrium volume. The calculated total magnetic moments for CdFeP2 and CdFeAs2 are about 1.83 (1.64 µB/f.u.) and 1.94 µB/f.u. (1.84 µB/f.u.) under generalized gradient approximation (GGA) (local spin density approximation (LSDA)) approximations, respectively. Perhaps these CdAB2 compounds (A = Cr and Mn; B = P, As) with HMF characteristic within both LSDA and GGA formalisms makes them highly promising candidates for spin injectors in the spintronic device applications. Furthermore, their semiconducting nature renders CdCrB2 and CdMnB2 materials compatible with silicon and other semiconducting lattices, enhancing their potential practical applications in the spintronic technologies. In conclusion, this study presents a thorough exploration of the robust electronic and magnetic properties of CdAB2 chalcopyrites, offering exciting prospects for their utilization in the future spintronic applications.

Chromium (Cr)-doped cobalt ferrite nanoparticles were synthesized using a sol–gel autocombustion method, with the chemical formula CoCrxFe2xO4. The value of x ranged from 0.00 to 0.5 in 0.1 increments. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the development of highly crystalline cubic spinel structures for all samples, with an average crystallite size of approximately 40 to 45 nm determined using the Scherrer equation. Pellets were prepared using a traditional ceramic method. The magnetic and magnetostrictive properties of the samples were tested using strain gauge and VSM (vibrating sample magnetometer) techniques. The results of the magnetic and magnetostrictive tests showed that the chromium-substituted cobalt ferrites exhibited higher strain derivative magnitudes than pure cobalt ferrite. These findings indicated that the introduction of chromium into the cobalt ferrite structure led to changes in the material’s magnetic properties. These changes were attributed to anisotropic contributions, resulting from an increased presence of Co2+ ions at B-sites due to the chromium substitutions. In summary, this study concluded that introducing chromium into the cobalt ferrite structure caused alterations in the material’s magnetic properties, which were explained by changes in the cationic arrangement within the crystal lattice. This study successfully explained these alterations using magnetization and coercivity data and the probable cationic dispersion.

Anaerobic germination is one of the important traits for direct seeded rice cultivation. Identification of tolerant rice genotypes is needed for improving early vigour under anaerobic germination. This study was aimed to identify a rapid and reliable protocol to identify the tolerant rice genotypes for anaerobic germination. Four screening methods viz., protrays, plastic trays, plastic tumbler and mud tumbler methods were developed and 22 rice genotypes were subjected to anoxic stress. Mud tumbler method was identified as the best screening protocol. Mud tumblers are eco friendly and also mimic the pot culture experiments. Principal component and cluster analysis revealed, Karuppukavuni and Kalanamak as tolerant genotypes. They recorded higher coloeptile traits and showed enhanced germination under early flooding. TKM13 and Anna R4 were identified as moderately tolerant genotypes under anaerobic germination. Higher genotypic coefficient of variance, phenotypic coefficient of variance coupled with high heritability was noticed in shoot length, crude protein and proline indicating scope for enhancing anaerobic germination tolerance.

A borderline case presents with mild skeletal disharmony or orthodontic problems due to arch length discrepancy and migration of teeth or a combination of these but is masked by a balanced soft tissue relationship. This case report describes one such borderline case of a 13-year-old girl who complained of irregularly placed upper and lower front teeth. Extraoral examination revealed balanced soft tissue with a mild convex profile, competent lips, and an average nasolabial angle. Intraorally, she had mixed dentition with flush terminal in primary molars and a class I relation in the permanent molars, severe crowding in the lower anterior, and congenitally missing permanent right laterals. Class II malocclusion is one of the most prevalent types of malocclusions following Class I. The most typical postural features observed in Class II patients are extended craniocervical posture, cervical lordosis, and increased forward loading away from the body's centre of mass for compensating the mandibular deficiency and reduced airway. Its treatment involves orthodontic, functional, and orthognathic surgery. The type of treatment regimen opted for depends upon the age, severity of malocclusion, and need of the patient. Thus, appropriate intervention brings about improvement in dentition along with an overall enhancement of the body posture and plantar loading. These variables undergo a significant change whenever there is a change in the maxillomandibular relationship. The main aim of this paper is to correlate the variation in the craniocervical angulation to the plantar pressure distribution during various phases of orthodontic treatment and bilateral sagittal split osteotomy (BSSO) advancement surgery. The craniocervical angulations were determined from the lateral cephalograms of the patients using cephalometric variables and the plantar pressure was estimated using a digital quanpressurometer device (designed and patented in India by Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research; patent number 390136) at each phase, i.e., during pre-treatment, pre-surgery, post-surgery, post-treatment intervals. The outcome of this study indicated that there was a significant change in the craniocervical angulation and the plantar pressure distribution pattern of the subjects before and after orthognathic surgery and it remained constant for six months after orthognathic surgery. The limitation of the study was the limited sample size. This study reveals that there was an improvement in the craniocervical angulation and plantar pressure distribution during the course of orthodontic decompensation and orthognathic surgical treatment, thus bringing about change in the individual's overall body posture and their plantar loading pattern after orthognathic surgery. Ectopic eruption of the tooth is a developmental disturbance where the tooth does not erupt in a normal position. This may be due to arch length deficiency or due to, delayed or premature exfoliation of deciduous teeth, or a combination of the above. A total or complete absence of teeth is called true anodontia; if one or more teeth are missing, it is called partial anodontia. It can be syndromic or non-syndromic in occurrence. A Deep Learning Multi-output regression model is employed to correctly model the relationships between optical design parameters of an asymmetric Twin Elliptical Core Photonic Crystal Fiber (TEC-PCF) and its sensing performances. TEC-PCF acts as a biosensor to detect the blood glucose level taking hemoglobin components into account. Since asymmetric TEC-PCF uses a dual elliptical core, four super modes have to be evaluated to analyze the sensing performance in terms of effective index difference, transmission spectrum, coupling length, and sensor sensitivity. The dataset used in this work is of the optical design parameters of the sensor and Finite Element Method (FEM) results with effective indices of four super modes obtained from the COMSOL Multiphysics by varying hemoglobin concentration to 120 g/L, 140 g/L, and 160 g/L. Gretel.ai's free open-source synthetic data library is used to augment the dataset to make the training more efficient. Explainable AI (XAI) feature analysis using Shapley Additive Explanations (SHAP) framework is used for two purposes: feature selection and to know the feature's effect on prediction. The former led to the development of an optimal model with much fewer computational demands and the latter made the model interpretable. The proposed model can predict the accurate super modes when given input specifications with wavelength ranging from 1.27- [Formula: see text] and for various glucose concentrations under the influence of hemoglobin much faster compared to the other numerical simulations which are computationally expensive. Computation time taken by the proposed Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model, the proposed model with XAI and FEM is also being compared.

A labial or lingual talon cusp is a well distinct extra cusp that is positioned on the plane or surface of the tooth of either upper or lower tooth usually covers an area of at least fifty percent of the teeth extends from the CEJ to the edge of the incisors. To investigate the pharyngeal airway volume in different anteroposterior skeletal malocclusions. This study was prepared according to the Cochrane criteria for creating a systematic review and meta-analysis and confirms the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) statement. This search was conducted to answer the patient/population, intervention, comparison and outcomes (PICO) question: To evaluate (outcome) and compare (comparison) whether there is a difference in airway volume in patients (participants) with different skeletal malocclusions diagnosed using 3D data (intervention).The first two authors extracted the data from the included studies and assessed the risk of bias in the individual studies using the Newcastle-Ottawa scale. Meta-analysis was done using STATA version 16, which compared various three-dimensional pharyngeal airway parameters in skeletal Class II and skeletal Class III malocclusions with that of skeletal class I malocclusion. Out of 370 articles from the initial search, 17 articles were included in the systematic review. Out of 17 studies, 12 eligible studies were included in the quantitative synthesis. The nasopharynx, oropharynx, hypopharynx, and total airway volume were increased in skeletal Class I malocclusion compared to that of skeletal Class II malocclusion and decreased in comparison to skeletal Class III malocclusion. The moderate quality of evidence indicates the total airway volume, oropharynx, and hypopharynx are largest in skeletal Class III compared to Class I and Class II skeletal malocclusion., Competing Interests: None

Background: In the recent day, there has been an exponential growth in the usage of clear aligners for orthodontic treatment. As with any removable appliance, the compliance of patients to remove it during ingestion of food is, at times, poor. Thus, the stability of the clear aligner to be "clear" becomes questionable. This in-vitro study examined how the clear aligners changed colour on exposure to various indigenous food products used in everyday life., Methods: Aligners from 5 different companies (K Line, Clearbite Aligners, The Aligner Company, iAligners and MaxDent CA Digital) were exposed for 12 hours and 24 hours to various indigenous substances (tea, green tea, coffee, turmeric, saffron and Kashmiri red chili powder) and a control solution (distilled water) in-vitro. The color change was assessed with the help of VITA Easyshade compact colorimeter based on Commission Internationale de I'Eclairage L*a*b* color system. Values were then modified to NBS units for clinical relevance., Results: The hue of the transparent aligners was noticed to change in a statistically meaningful way when exposed to turmeric, saffron, Kashmiri red chili powder and coffee in decreasing order and mild color change in tea and green tea at both 12 hours and 24 hours intervals., Conclusion: Aligners are prone to color change when exposed to indigenous foods that contain staining properties., Competing Interests: None., (©2022 The Author(s).)
