The article attempts to review and systematize the informational content of commercial advertisements on the pages of periodicals of the Tomsk province (18811895). The publication analyzes advertising publications in the context of product promotion on the local market; identifies the main classes of advertised goods and groups of services; highlights common and distinctive features in advertising of public and private newspapers. Periodicals at the end of the nineteenth century became an effective channel of direct communication between an entrepreneur and a potential buyer. The authors conclude that advertisements are important as a historical source on the history of regional entrepreneurship and trade. Advertising was directly related to the sale of products and informed readers about the range of products, current prices, new arrivals, sales and discounts. Advertisements on the pages of state and private periodicals indicate that Siberian and metropolitan entrepreneurs offered the population of Tomsk province a diverse range of goods and services. The advertised products reflected not only the economic and socio-cultural specifics of the region, but also system-wide changes characteristic of the all-Russian level., В статье предпринимается попытка обзора и систематизации информационного содержания коммерческих объявлений на страницах периодических изданий Томской губернии (1881-1895 гг.). Авторы проанализировали рекламные публикации в контексте продвижения продукции на местном рынке; выявили основные классы рекламируемых товаров и группы услуг; выделили общие и отличительные черты в рекламе государственных и частных газет. Периодика в конце XIX в. становилась эффективным каналом прямого общения предпринимателя с потенциальным покупателем. Авторы делают вывод о важности рекламных объявлений как исторического источника по истории регионального предпринимательства и торговли. Реклама была непосредственно связана с реализацией продукции и информировала читателей об ассортименте товаров, текущих ценах, новых поступлениях, распродажах и скидках. Рекламные объявления на страницах государственного и частных периодических изданий свидетельствуют о том, что сибирские и столичные предприниматели предлагали населению Томской губернии разнообразный ассортимент товаров и услуг. В рекламируемой продукции отображалась экономическая и социокультурная специфика региона, а также общесистемные изменения, характерные для общероссийского уровня.

The relevance of the study is based on the powerful impact of advertising on people of different ages and social groups. This leads to the need to execute high-quality, professional translation, considering the specifics of age categories, social groups and different fields of activity.Analysis of translation of advertisements and advertising slogans are aimed at determining tactics and approaches for translation to preserve the authenticity of the original text. This paper presents an analysis of the linguistic characteristics of commercial and social advertising slogans. There is no single definition of an advertising slogan in the scientific literature, so an attempt was made to define of the slogan in the context of marketing communication. One of the main functions of both social and commercial advertising is to provide information to the target audience and make it act as the advertiser wants. The language itself in oral or written form, has a powerful influence on people and their behavior, the article analyzes the language of advertising from a linguistic point of view and focuses on the phonological and semantic characteristics of slogans for commercial and social advertising campaigns. An analysis of 110 English slogans (55 commercial and 55 social advertising campaigns) showed the frequent use of both audio and figurative language in commercial advertising slogans, which make slogans more memorable, attractive and positively represent the advertising brand. In contrast to commercial advertising, sound techniques and figurative language are very rare in the slogans of social advertising campaigns.Advertising is the main tool for communication with consumers. It tells them about the types and diversity of products available for consumption on the market. Advertising is not confined to any age or gender. The ultimate goal is to sell consumers new items that have been provided by advertisers. Advertising not only does inform about the product, but also simultaneously transforms it into an image that becomes in the minds of the buyer inseparable from the actual information about the properties of the advertised product. One of the main functions of both social and commercial advertising is to provide information to the target audience and force it to act as the advertiser wants. Thus, the communication between the advertiser and the consumer in the conditions of the advertising process should be built on an understanding of the basic communication principles and characteristics of the social environment.It is necessary to consider that the level of communication is influenced by factors such as competition, common consumer stereotypes, the level of communication message and the place of its distribution. Due to globalization, there is an importance and need to convey the content of the advert in terms of the original meaning of slogans. The translation can be done by taking the slogan and turning it into a completely new advertising form. It may be professional and appropriate but can also be problematic because the original slogan was intended for a different audience and belongs to a different culture and tradition. The obtained conclusions can be applied in translation practice while working on advertising texts, and translating American adverts into Ukrainian ones for Ukrainian consumers as well as in further research into techniques to facilitate translations., Представлений аналіз лінгвістичних характеристик комерційних і соціальних рекламних слоганів. У науковій літературі не існує єдиного визначення рекламного слогану, тому була зроблена спроба надати визначення слогану в контексті маркетингової комунікації. Однією з основних функцій як соціальної, так і комерційної реклами є надання інформації цільовій аудиторії та змушення її діяти так, як бажає рекламодавець. Оскільки мова, розмовна чи письмова, має потужний вплив на людей та їхню поведінку, стаття аналізує мову реклами з лінгвістичної точки зору та фокусується на фонологічних і семантичних характеристиках гасел для комерційних і соціальних рекламних кампаній. Аналіз 110 англійських слоганів (55 комерційних і 55 соціальних рекламних кампаній) показав часте використання як звукових прийомів, так і образної мови в комерційних рекламних слоганах, які роблять слогани зрозумілішими, привабливими та висвітлюють рекламований бренд у позитивному сенсі. На відміну від цього, звукові прийоми та образна мова дуже рідкі в гаслах соціальних рекламних кампаній. Реклама є основним інструментом комунікації для споживачів. Вона розповідає їм про типи та різноманітність продуктів, доступних для їхнього споживання на ринку. Реклама не обмежується будь-яким віком чи статтю. Кінцевою метою є продавати споживачеві нові предмети, які були надані рекламодавцями. Реклама не тільки інформує про продукцію, а й одночасно трансформує її в якийсь образ, який стає у свідомості покупця невіддільним від фактичних відомостей про властивості рекламованого товару. Однією з основних функцій як соціальної, так і комерційної реклами є надання інформації цільовій аудиторії та змушення її діяти так, як бажає рекламодавець. Отже, комунікація між рекламодавцем і споживачем в умовах рекламного процесу повинна бути побудована на розумінні основних комунікаційних принципів й особливостей соціального середовища. При цьому необхідно враховувати, що на рівень комунікації впливають такі фактори, як конкуренція, поширені стереотипи споживачів, рівень комунікаційного послання і місце його поширення. У зв’язку з глобалізацією виникає важливість і необхідність збереження змісту оригінальної реклами з точки зору значення та гасел. Переклад можна зробити, взявши слоган і сформувати його в зовсім новій рекламній формі. Це може бути професійним і доцільним або проблематичним, оскільки оригінальний слоган був призначений для іншої аудиторії, та належить до іншої культури та традиції. Отримані висновки можливо буде застосувати в перекладацькій практиці при роботі з рекламними текстами та під час перекладання американських рекламних слоганів українською мовою, що сприятиме їхньому більшому розумінню та запам’ятовуванню для україномовної аудиторії.

Изучение морально-этических аспектов применения шоковой рекламы (социальной и коммерческой) позволит определить уровень приемлемости применения шоко- вых технологий в различных коммуникационных каналах. В результате исследо- вания, проведённого методом анкетирования с последующим социологическим анализом данных, были выявлены наиболее (не-)приемлемые виды шоковой рекламы. Так, прием- лемость наготы (Δср,%) в канале коммерческой интернет-рекламы достигает (+113,4%), её же неприемлемость в канале наружной рекламы (–53,3%); в использовании нецензурной лексики наблюдается большая приемлемость в интернет-рекламе (+102,79%), по срав- нению с наружной рекламой (–64, 94%). Ненадлежащее использование религиозных символов наиболее отрицательно воспринимается респондентами в социальной рекламе на телевидении (–127%). По всем каналам коммуникации получены отрицательные сред- ние значения (от –11,28 до –65,66) по приемлемости применения шоковой рекламы. Та- ким образом, шоковая реклама чаще всего не соответствует уровню морально-этической приемлемости человека и нарушает соответствие его социальных ожиданий реальности, но является эффективной для большинства респондентов (55,7%) при соблюдении границ приемлемости. Шоковый контент чаще оправдан в социальной рекламе. As a result of the study, conducted by the method of questioning, followed by a sociological analysis of the data, the most (un-)acceptable types of shock advertising were identified. So the acceptability of nudity (Δav,%) in the commercial Internet advertising channel reaches (+113.4%), its unacceptability in the outdoor advertising channel (–53.3%); in the use of obscene language, there is a greater acceptability in Internet advertising (+102.79%), compared to outdoor advertising (–64.94%). The most part of respondents consider inappropriate use of religious symbols as the most negative in social advertising on television (–127%). For all communication channels, negative average values (from –11.28 to –65.66) were obtained for the acceptability of the use of shock advertising. Thus, shock advertising most often does not correspond to the level of moral and ethical acceptability of a person and violates the correspondence of his social expectations to reality, but is effective for the majority of respondents (55.7%), within the limits of acceptability. Shock content is more often justified in social advertising. Статья посвящена сравнительному анализу коммерческой и социальной рекламы как неотъемлемых частей повседневной реальности современного общества и современной информационной реальности. Проводится анализ черт сходства и различия социальной и коммерческой рекламы. В качестве наиболее значимых отличий двух видов рекламы описываются различные миссии, цели и функции, различие заказчиков и целевых аудиторий. Уделяется особое внимание способности социальной рекламы влиять на ценностные установки общества и задавать общественно значимые модели поведения. The article is devoted to a comparative analysis of commercial and social advertising as integral parts of the everyday reality of modern society and modern information reality. The analysis of similarities and diff erences between social and commercial advertising is carried out. As the most signifi cant diff erences between the two types of advertising, various missions, goals and functions, the diff erence between customers and target audiences are described. Particular attention is paid to the ability of social advertising to infl uence the values of society and set socially signifi cant behavior patterns.
