Climate change will have various impacts on the survival and development of species, and it is important to explore whether plants can adapt to future climate conditions. Dipteronia dyeriana is an endangered species with a narrow distribution in Yunnan, characterized by a small population size. However, studies on its current distribution and the impact of climate change on its future survival and distribution are very limited. In this study, the current and future (2050 and 2090) potential habitats under the SSP1-2.6, SSP3-7.0, and SSP5-8.5 scenarios were predicted using both maximum entropy (MaxEnt) and random forest (RF) models based on the current range points of D. dyeriana, soil, topographical, land cover, and climate data. The results showed that the RF model demonstrated significantly higher AUC, TSS, and Kappa scores than the MaxEnt model, suggesting high accuracy of the RF model. Isothermality (bio_3), minimum temperature of the coldest month (bio_6), and annual precipitation (bio_12) are the main environmental factors affecting the distribution of D. dyeriana. At present, the high suitability area of D. dyeriana is mainly concentrated in the eastern part of Yunnan Province and part of southern Tibet, covering an area of 3.53 × 104 km2. Under future climate change scenarios, the total area suitable for D. dyeriana is expected to increase. Although, the highly suitable area has a tendency to decrease. With regards to land use, more than 77.53% of the suitable land area (29.67 × 104 km2) could be used for D. dyeriana planting under different SSP scenarios. In 2090, the centroid shifts of the two models exhibit a consistent trend. Under the SSP1-2.6 scenario, the centroids transfer to the southeast. However, under the SSP3-7.0 and SSP5-8.5 scenarios, the centroids of high suitability areas migrate toward the northwest. In summary, this study enhances our understanding of the influence of climate change on the geographic range of D. dyeriana and provides essential theoretical backing for efforts in its conservation and cultivation.

A good mathematical model accurately represents the behavior of a system. Although aircraft has complex dynamics, it is feasible to develop a robust model that could be used to design and analyze some of its essential components such as flight control system and simulator. To solve security challenges in the hinterlands and maritime domains, a hybrid Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), nicknamed ‘AH-25’, was designed by the Air Force Institute of Technology, Nigeria. In this work, the development of flight dynamics models of the vehicle is presented. The AH-25 UAV has the capability of operating in both fixed-wing and Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) modes for effective operations on land and maritime spaces. Therefore, models that capture the dynamics of the two distinct modes were obtained. The fixed-wing nonlinear model which was developed from first principle using Newton-Euler method was decoupled, trimmed and linearized to set it in a good shape for critical aircraft systems designs. On the other hand, the multicopter model developed by Beihang flight control group was adapted for modelling the VTOL mode. Simulation results showed that the models’ responses are a replica of the actual aircraft operations. Also, responses of the model to perturbations indicated that it is open-loop stable. Furthermore, the mean performance metrics of the fixed-wing model’s open-loop time response to various inputs were evaluated. The model was found to have a rise time of 2 s, 1.33% steady state error and a settling time of 40 s.

Polygonaceae has a complex taxonomic history, although a few studies using plastid or nuclear DNA fragments have explored relationships within this family, intrafamilial relationships remain controversial. Here, we newly sequenced and annotated 17 plastomes representing 12 genera within Polygonaceae. Combined with previously published data, a total of 49 plastomes representing 22/46 Polygonaceae genera and 16/20 Polygonoideae genera were collected to infer the phylogeny of Polygonaceae, with an emphasis on Polygonoideae. Plastome comparisons revealed high conservation within Polygonoideae in structure and gene order. Phylogenetic analyses using both Maximum Likelihood and Bayesian methods revealed two major clades and seven tribes within Polygonoideae. BEAST and S-DIVA analyses suggested a Paleocene origin of Polygonoideae in Asia. While most genera of Polygonoideae originated and further diversified in Asia, a few genera experienced multiple long-distance dispersal events from Eurasia to North America after the Miocene, with a few dispersal events to the Southern Hemisphere also being detected. Both ancient vicariance and long-distance events have played important roles in shaping the current distribution pattern of Polygonoideae.

Entropy creation by a blood-hybrid nanofluid flow with gold-tantalum nanoparticles in a tilted cylindrical artery with composite stenosis under the influence of Joule heating, body acceleration, and thermal radiation is the focus of this research. Using the Sisko fluid model, the non-Newtonian behaviour of blood is investigated. The finite difference (FD) approach is used to solve the equations of motion and entropy for a system subject to certain constraints. The optimal heat transfer rate with respect to radiation, Hartmann number, and nanoparticle volume fraction is calculated using a response surface technique and sensitivity analysis. The impacts of significant parameters such as Hartmann number, angle parameter, nanoparticle volume fraction, body acceleration amplitude, radiation, and Reynolds number on the velocity, temperature, entropy generation, flow rate, shear stress of wall, and heat transfer rate are exhibited via the graphs and tables. Present results disclose that the flow rate profile increase by improving the Womersley number and the opposite nature is noticed in nanoparticle volume fraction. The total entropy generation reduces by improving radiation. The Hartmann number expose a positive sensitivity for all level of nanoparticle volume fraction. The sensitivity analysis revealed that the radiation and nanoparticle volume fraction showed a negative sensitivity for all magnetic field levels. It is seen that the presence of hybrid nanoparticles in the bloodstream leads to a more substantial reduction in the axial velocity of blood compared to Sisko blood. An increase in the volume fraction results in a noticeable decrease in the volumetric flow rate in the axial direction, while higher values of infinite shear rate viscosity lead to a significant reduction in the magnitude of the blood flow pattern. The blood temperature exhibits a linear increase with respect to the volume fraction of hybrid nanoparticles. Specifically, utilizing a hybrid nanofluid with a volume fraction of 3% leads to a 2.01316% higher temperature compared to the base fluid (blood). Species adaptation and their response to the warming climate offer understanding into the present geographical distribution and may assist in improving predictions regarding the expected response to future climate change. As a result, assessing the distribution and potentially suitable habitats is key for conserving important vulnerable species such as Perkinsiodendron macgregorii, a rare tree species of high ornamental value distributed only in the subtropical forests of China. In this study, 101 sampling points distributed in China and 11 climatic variables were selected and imported into the maximum entropy model (MaxEnt). We simulated the spatiotemporal dynamics of potential habitats under past, current, and future (2050s and 2070s) scenarios and found that the total suitable area for P. macgregorii is 1.67 × 106 km2 in recent times. This area is mainly located in seven provinces of southern China (Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Fujian, Hunan, Guangdong, and Guangxi). The habitat centroid of P. macgregorii has been in Jiangxi province from the past to the 2070s. In both the lowest and the highest emission scenarios (RCP2.6 and RCP8.5), the potential distribution of P. macgregorii will slightly increase in the 2070s, indicating that climate change may have little effect on its distribution. The precipitation of the warmest quarter (bio_18) is the most important climatic factor, with an optimum range of 487.3–799.8 mm. A chatter mark is a result of irregular vibration that affects the milling process, which results in poor surface finish, reduced work quality, machine impairment, and high production cost. This work presents an active feedback controller design using a new response matrix to suppress the free vibration in the milling process. The proposed controller considers feed rate, tooth passing frequency, and time-varying dynamic milling force coefficients. A milling experiment verifies the effect of the proposed method. Background: Mycetoma is a chronic granulomatous disease affecting the skin, subcutaneous tissues, and bones, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions. Sudan, especially its Eastern Sinnar locality, experiences a significant burden due to environmental conditions and limited access to healthcare, while the population's lack of awareness and understanding often leads to delays in diagnosis and treatment., Methods: We conducted a descriptive cross-sectional, community-based study in Eastern Sinnar, Sudan, to investigate the prevalence, risk factors, and awareness of mycetoma among local residents. Using Cochran's formula, we calculated a required sample size of 400 participants from a total population of 245 201. Then, we randomly selected these participants from five villages chosen through stratified sampling. Data were collected via a validated questionnaire assessing sociodemographic characteristics and mycetoma-related information, a review of medical records to confirm infection types and prevalence, and interviews with the Directorate of the Mycetoma Centre in Sinnar. We used χ 2 tests for associations in our analysis, with P-values ≤0.05 indicating statistical significance., Results: The mycetoma prevalence was 5.4%, with males comprising 76.4% of infected cases. However, the difference in infection rates between genders was not statistically significant (P = 0.248). While infection rates were higher among certain occupational groups, such as farmers and shepherds, the association between occupation and mycetoma infection was non-significant (P = 0.107). We also found no significant associations with educational level (P = 0.104) or age (P = 0.514), but did detect significant associations for family history of infection (P < 0.001), animal ownership (P = 0.004), and not wearing shoes during work (P = 0.05). Awareness of mycetoma was relatively high, with 78.3% of respondents acknowledging the disease, though knowledge gaps remained, especially regarding its transmission, with only 36.1% believing it to be transmissible., Conclusions: The study highlights the need for targeted health education programmes, particularly emphasising protective footwear and safe animal-handling practices. Serpentine soils are characterized by high concentrations of heavy metals (HMs) and limited essential nutrients with remarkable endemic plant diversity, yet the mechanisms enabling plant adaptation to thrive in such harsh environments remain largely unknown. Full-length 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing, coupled with physiological and functional assays, was used to explore root-associated bacterial community composition and their metabolic and ecological functions. The results revealed that serpentine plant species exhibited significantly higher metal transfer factor values compared to non-serpentine plant species, particularly evident in Bidens pilosa, Miscanthus floridulus, and Leucaena leucocephala. The serpentine root-associated microbes showed a higher utilization of carboxylic acid, whereas carbohydrate utilization was higher in the non-serpentine site. Zymomonas mobilis and Flavabacterium sp. exhibited high resistance to heavy metal concentrations, showing greater adaptability, while, Staphylococcus carnosus showed sensitivity to HMs, showing limited adaptability. Moreover, Ni, Cr, and Co resistance genes were found, while nitrogen and phosphorous metabolism genes were less abundant in the serpentine site compared to the non-serpentine site. Furthermore, Flavobacterium sp. had a strong positive relationship with Cd and Cu, Zymomonas mobilis with Ni, and Cr, Streptomyces sp. with Co, and Staphylococcus carnosus with N and P cycling. Introduction: Despite advances in physiotherapy care for Low Back Pain (LBP) worldwide, studies suggest that physiotherapists in Nigeria do not adhere to international guidelines, and it is not known whether recent treatment approaches developed for LBP are recognized or applied by physiotherapists in Nigeria., Objectives: To evaluate the current assessment and treatment practices used by physiotherapists in Nigeria for people with recent onset, recurrent and chronic LBP., Design: A descriptive cross-sectional electronic national survey., Participants: Two hundred and sixty-seven registered physiotherapists who treat LBP across all 36 states of Nigeria completed the survey anonymously via REDCap., Results: Two hundred and sixty-seven physiotherapists (mean age = 37.6 years, SD = 9.1; 53.6% female) completed the survey in full. Although most physiotherapists (> 95%) regularly applied traditional assessment methods (e.g., history of presenting complaint, observation for spinal deformity, palpation), only approximately 30% screened for red flag pathology. Very few physiotherapists assessed patients with LBP for psychological distress (< 8%) or risk stratification/prognostic factors (< 4%). For treatment, electrophysical agents and muscle techniques (e.g., massage) predominated (> 95%), while few physiotherapists used cognitive-behavioural strategies (< 2%), individualised multimodal treatment programs (e.g., cognitive functional therapy, StarT Back or STOPS, < 1.5%), validated outcome measures (< 15%), clinical practice guidelines (< 10%) or a clinical reasoning strategy/framework (< 20%). While the emergence of immunotherapies has fundamentally altered the management of solid tumors, cancers exploit many complex biological mechanisms that result in resistance to these agents. These encompass a broad range of cellular activities - from modification of traditional paradigms of immunity via antigen presentation and immunoregulation to metabolic modifications and manipulation of the tumor microenvironment. Intervening on these intricate processes may provide clinical benefit in patients with solid tumors by overcoming resistance to immunotherapies, which is why it has become an area of tremendous research interest with practice-changing implications. This review details the major ways cancers avoid both natural immunity and immunotherapies through primary (innate) and secondary (acquired) mechanisms of resistance, and it considers available and emerging therapeutic approaches to overcoming immunotherapy resistance.

In this study, we developed a Caputo-Fractional Chlamydia pandemic model to describe the disease's spread. We demonstrated the model's positivity and boundedness, ensuring biological relevance. The existence and uniqueness of the model's solution were established, and we investigated the stability of the α-fractional order model. Our analysis proved that the disease-free equilibrium point is locally asymptotically stable. Background: Elevated vitamin B12 (B12) levels are linked to an increased risk of cancers, including hematological malignancies. This study focuses on the relationship between elevated B12 and myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs): Polycythemia Vera (PV), Primary Myelofibrosis (MF), Essential Thrombocytosis (ET), and Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). Elevated B12 in MPNs is believed to arise from increased transcobalamin I (TCI) secretion by proliferating leukocytes, leading to higher serum levels. B12 may serve as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for these conditions. However, its sensitivity, specificity, and cutoff levels are unclear., Aim: To assess the prevalence of high B12 levels in MPN patients, determine the median levels, identify a diagnostic cutoff, and evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of B12 as a marker., Methods: Data were retrieved from the National Center for Cancer Care and Research in Doha, Qatar, for MPN patients from January 2016 to December 2022., Results: A total of 467 patients were included: 232 with CML, 98 with PV, 88 with ET, and 50 with MF. The majority were male (66%) and of Asian origin (56%), with a median age of 48.7 years. CBC results showed median hemoglobin of 9.2 g/dL, WBC count of 73 x 10^3/uL, and platelet count of 531 x 10^3/uL. Elevated B12 levels were found in 95 patients (20%): 71% CML, 14% PV, 10% MF, and 5% ET. Extreme elevations were seen in 59 patients. The mean B12 level decreased from 747.3 ± 686.5 pg/mL before treatment to 397.9 ± 343.7 pg/mL after one year (p=0.01). Median levels were 458 pg/mL (718) before treatment and 301 pg/mL (229) after. In the extreme high B12 group, the mean was 1722 pg/mL before and 677 pg/mL after treatment., Conclusion: Elevated B12 levels are associated with disease activity in CML. Zaltoprofen (ZAL) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with a short half-life (∼2.8 h) due to extensive first pass metabolism. In this context, 16 different polymeric film forming solutions (PFFS) of ZAL were developed using different grades of Eudragits, Polyvinylpyrrolidones, Kollicoat MAE 100 P and Hydroxypropyl cellulose as film formers, and polyethylene glycol 400 as a plasticizer in equal parts of ethanol and isopropyl alcohol used as solvents. Of these solutions, F13 composed of Kollicoat MAE 100 P emerged as an optimal PFFS as it quickly formed a saturated film (10.25 ± 0.75 min) that displayed low drying time (3.00 ± 0.46 min), and high in vitro adhesion (2.67 ± 0.58). Ex vivo permeation studies conducted in Franz diffusion cell across porcine skin indicated that F13 displayed significantly higher ( p  < 0.001) steady state flux (8.64 ± 1.72 µg.cm -2 .h -1 ), shorter lag time (∼3 h) and better skin content (2.55 ± 0.62 µg/mg) compared to other PFFS. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) proved the chemical integrity of ZAL in polymeric film formed from F13, while Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray Diffractometry (XRD) proved the "anti-recrystallization potential" of PFFS. Anti-inflammatory studies in rats indicated that F13 significantly inhibited (ANOVA, p  < 0.001) carrageenan induced paw edema for nearly 12 h compared to topical diclofenac used as standard. In addition, significantly elevated (ANOVA, p  < 0.001) analgesic effect was noted in the hot plate test in rats treated with F13 compared to the standard for 12 h proving the superior efficacy of F13. Thus, PFFS by virtue of " in situ evaporative metamorphosis" induced supersaturation can be an attractive platform to deliver ZAL transdermally.

Background: Rare diseases often entail significant challenges in clinical management and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) assessment. HRQoL assessment tools for rare diseases show substantial variability in outcomes, influenced by disease heterogeneity, intervention types, and scale characteristics. The variability in reported quality of life (QoL) improvements following interventions reflects a need to evaluate the effectiveness of HRQoL assessment tools and understand their suitability across diverse contexts., Objective: This systematic review aims to analyse the effectiveness of various assessment scales in evaluating QoL and explores the general trends observed in the studies using the same and different assessment scales on rare diseases., Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted across various databases to identify studies that reported QoL outcomes related to interventions for rare diseases. Search terms included various synonyms, and both the generic and specific terms related to rare diseases and QoL. Key variables, including intervention types, patient demographics, study design, and geographical factors, were analysed to determine their role in influencing the reported HRQoL outcomes. The findings were then compared with existing literature to identify consistent patterns and discrepancies., Results: A total of 39 studies were included, comprising randomised controlled trials, observational studies, and cohort studies, with 4737 participants. Significant variations were observed in QoL improvements across studies, even when using the same assessment scales. These differences were primarily attributed to the heterogeneity in disease severity, intervention types, and patient characteristics. Studies employing disease-specific scales reported more nuanced outcomes than generic ones. Additionally, methodological differences, including study design and intervention type, contributed to variations in results and geographical factors influencing patients' perceptions of health and well-being., Conclusion: The reported differences in QoL outcomes across studies can be explained by a combination of factors, including disease heterogeneity, treatment modalities, patient demographics, and assessment scale characteristics. These findings underscore the importance of selecting appropriate HRQoL assessment tools based on the research context and patient population. For more accurate comparisons across studies, it is crucial to consider these factors alongside consistent methodology and cultural adaptability of scales.
