Marjolijn's ulcer is a malignant ulcer in a burn scar. Types of malignancy are squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma. Soft tissue sarcoma case reports indicate only one type of cancer. We present a patient in her 60s with a 10-year-old burn scar developing a biopsy-proven squamous cell carcinoma on the lateral aspect of the left thigh with metastatic superficial inguinal node. A wide excision and grafting of ulcer with ilioinguinal dissection done on left side. On the 12th postoperative day 2, subcutaneous swellings adjacent to the grafted area developed, on biopsy revealed to be pleomorphic sarcoma. PET CT scan revealed tumour deposits in the muscles of the left lower limb, liver and lung. There are no case reports of synchronous carcinoma and sarcoma in a burn scar. Cases of digestive cancers diagnosed during pregnancy are rare. The increasing prevalence of pregnancy in women aged 30–39 years (and not exceptionally 40–49 years) could explain the frequent co-occurrence of cancers and pregnancy. The diagnosis of digestive cancers in pregnancy is difficult due to the overlap between neoplasm symptomatology and the clinical picture of pregnancy. A paraclinical evaluation may also be difficult depending on the trimester of the pregnancy. Diagnosis is also delayed by practitioners' hesitation to use invasive investigations (imaging, endoscopy, etc.) due to fetal safety concerns. Therefore, digestive cancers are often diagnosed during pregnancy in advanced stages, where complications such as occlusions, perforations, and cachexia have already arisen. In this review, we highlight the epidemiology, clinical aspects, paraclinical evaluation, and particularities of the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer during pregnancy. Background/Aim: Pregnancy specific beta-1- glycoprotein 1 (PSG1) is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and associated with carcinoembryonic antigens. It has been reported to be highly expressed in variety of cancers. However, the role of PSG1 in gastric cancer remains unclear. The aim of our study was to examine the clinical significance and functional role of PSG1 in gastric cancer. Materials and Methods: We analyzed the association between PSG1 expression levels and clinicopathological features using Kaplan-Meier survival curves and publicly available microarray data. In gastric cancer cell lines, PSG1 expression levels were detected by polymerase chain reaction and western blot analysis. The functional role of PSG1 on the proliferation, migration and invasive abilities were also investigated using PSG1 siRNA or an over-expression plasmid vector through WST, transwell migration and invasion assays. Results: PSG1 expression levels were higher in gastric cancer patient tissues than in normal gastric tissues. Increased expression of PSG1 was associated with poor patient prognosis. Knockdown of PSG1 inhibited cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in gastric cancer cells. In contrast, over-expression of PSG1 enhanced cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Conclusion: PSG1 is up-regulated in gastric cancer and may serve as an oncogene that promotes cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. PSG1 is an independent prognostic factor for the progression of gastric cancer and may be a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for gastric cancer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The age of the patients at diagnosis (age at diagnosis) is a self-contained element of danger for the prognosis of patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), which has been well recognized and continuously adopted by the international cancer staging system. However, few studies have investigated its intrinsic mechanisms. In this study, we aim to comprehensively reveal the age-related pathogenesis of PTC and identify potential prognostic biomarkers. Wedivided the samples into two groups, young and elderly, to filter differentially expressed genes in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), with an age of 55 years serving as a cutoff. Moreover, we combined univariate, LASSO, and multivariate Cox regression analyses to construct age-related signatures for predicting progression-free survival. Additionally, functional enrichment analysis, immune infiltration analysis, differential expression analysis, clinicopathological correlation analysis, and drug sensitivity analysis were performed in different risk subgroups and expression subgroups. We screened 88 upregulated genes and 58 downregulated genes. Both the LASSO regression model that is validated in TCGA and the model of six age-related prognostic genes (IGF2BP1, GPRC6A, IL37, CRCT1, SEMG1, and PSG7) can be used to evaluate the progression-free survival of PTC patients. TheGO, KEGG, and GSEA analyses revealed that each key gene was closely associated with PTC development. Furthermore, CD8+ T cells decreased significantly, while regulatory T cells increased dramatically in the high-risk and PSG7 high expression groups. PSG7 was remarkably correlatedwith clinicopathological parameters (pathologic stage, T stage, and N stage) of PTC patients, and PSG7 expression was elevated in tumor samples from both TCGA and the Gene Expression Omnibus and was strongly associated with progressive stage and poor prognosis. Our results provide an innovative understanding of the age-related molecular mechanisms of PTC development.
