In comparison with traditional lectures, active learning methods have the potential to foster learner agency and consequently raise academic performance. However, these methods are often applied with little knowledge about their effectiveness. In this study, we introduced two concept maps in an undergraduate cell biology course, to investigate their effect on student performance, but also mental health, in a quasi-experimental setup. By implementing group tasks into the work, we aimed to reduce feelings of loneliness among the participants, a common phenomenon among students in the study country. We evaluated the effects of the concept maps via exam grades and in an anonymous student survey. Here, we found no increase in student performance after introduction of the active learning task. Students also did not report improvements in their feelings of loneliness. We conclude that this active learning method did not detectably improve student performance or mental health, a result which does not conform to the popular perception of positive effects from active learning. The survey revealed that students do not have a preference for either active learning or traditional lectures, however, the students experienced that the concept map helped them to describe, explain and hypothesize about the topics. Overall, this shows that the concept map method is a valid alternative to traditional lectures, since students perform equally between both learning approaches.

Background: A comprehensive histopathology report of colorectal carcinoma surgery is important in cancer staging and planning adjuvant treatment. Our aim was to review histopathology reports of operated specimens of colorectal carcinoma in our institution between 2013 and 2015 to assess different histological parameters, including lymph node yield, and to evaluate compliance to minimum data sets. Methods: After approval by the institutional review board (IRB), we analyzed 1230 histopathology reports of colorectal carcinoma between 2013 and 2015. Various gross and microscopic findings (along with age, sex) were noted, for example, specimen type, tumor site, resection margins including circumferential resection margin (CRM), lymphovascular invasion, perineural invasion, pTNM stage, lymph node yield, etc. Results: Out of 1230 patients, 826 (67.15%) were men and 404 (32.85%) were women. The overall mean age was 52 (range: 18 - 90) years. There were 787 surgeries for rectal cancers. All reports commented on the type of specimen, tumor size (mean = 4.38 cm), proximal, and distal margins. Lymphovascular invasion (LVI) and the pT stage were mentioned in 98.06% and 99.84%, respectively. The overall mean lymph node yield was 18.38 (median = 15, range = 0-130 lymph nodes). A statistically significant difference in lymph node yield was detected between rectal and colonic cancer patients (14.79 and 27.26); post neoadjuvant therapy (NACT) cases, and NACT naive cases (13.51 and 25.11); and high tumor stage and low tumor stage disease (20.60 and 15.22). Not commenting on extramural vascular emboli, tumor budding, and CRM in non‑rectal cancer cases were the lacunae. Conclusion: Our compliance with minimal data sets is satisfactory. Innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) are highly plastic and predominantly mucosal tissue-resident cells that contribute to both homeostasis and inflammation depending on the microenvironment. The discovery of naïve-like ILCs suggests an ILC differentiation process that is akin to naïve T cell differentiation. Delineating the mechanisms that underlie ILC differentiation in tissues is crucial for understanding ILC biology in health and disease. Here, we showed that tonsillar ILCs expressing CD45RA lacked proliferative activity, indicative of cellular quiescence. CD62L distinguished two subsets of CD45RA+ ILCs. CD45RA+CD62L+ ILCs (CD62L+ ILCs) resembled circulating naïve ILCs because they lacked the transcriptional, metabolic, epigenetic, and cytokine production signatures of differentiated ILCs. CD45RA+CD62L- ILCs (CD62L- ILCs) were epigenetically similar to CD62L+ ILCs but showed a transcriptional, metabolic, and cytokine production signature that was more akin to differentiated ILCs. CD62L+ and CD62L- ILCs contained uni- and multipotent precursors of ILC1s/NK cells and ILC3s. Differentiation of CD62L+ and CD62L- ILCs led to metabolic reprogramming including up-regulation of genes associated with glycolysis, which was needed for their effector functions after differentiation. CD62L- ILCs with preferential differentiation capacity toward IL-22-producing ILC3s accumulated in the inflamed mucosa of patients with inflammatory bowel disease. These data suggested distinct differentiation potential of CD62L+ and CD62L- ILCs between tissue microenvironments and identified that manipulation of these cells is a possible approach to restore tissue-immune homeostasis. These days, it's more common to use recommendation algorithms to keep customers happy and boost revenue. It is hoped that consumers would be able to make more informed decisions thanks to these solutions. A recommendation system has become an essential aspect of internet buying. Recent emphasis has been focused on fashion and clothes as the subject of several recommendation algorithms. A Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)-based recommendation system has been proposed in this study (CNN). According to the preferences of the CNN's users and designers, distinct patterns have been assigned to different classes in the architecture. Color compatibility is taken into account by the deep learning model when recommending designs for textile items. Our own pattern dataset, which contains 12000 photos, was used to train and evaluate the suggested model. Using pattern datasets, we were able to demonstrate the efficacy of our technique. Some bird species are becoming more uncommon, and even if they are discovered, it may be difficult to classify them. From a human viewpoint, birds may be seen in a variety of sizes, shapes, colours, and angles. Because of this, it is easier to identify birds by looking at their photos, as opposed to listening to their calls. In addition, it is easier for humans to identify birds based on their appearances in photos. As a result, our technique relies on the Caltech-UCSD Birds 200 dataset for both training and testing. To produce an autograph using tensor flow and a deep convolutional neural network (DCNN), a picture is transformed to grey scale using the DCNN technique. The testing dataset is used to compare the various nodes, and a score sheet is generated as a result. The highest score on the scoring sheet may be used to determine which bird species is needed. Analyses of the dataset (Caltech-UCSD Birds 200 [CUB-200-2011]) have shown that the system is 80-90% accurate in identifying birds. Research on Medical Image presents an efficient platform for automated analysis and identification of any deformations in a given medical image data collection, particularly in the Spinal Cord, for more effective and better comprehension of the diagnosis. Tumors, disc hernias, fractures, edoema, and other abnormalities of the spinal cord may be discovered using a variety of medical imaging modalities, including MRI, CT, and fMRI. Fast and reliable analysis of the MRI imaging of the spinal cord using an Automated Decision Support System (ADS) is shown in this study. There are two stages to this process: preparation and execution. Using histograms, the first step is to determine whether any abnormality characteristics or distortions are present in the provided picture. This is the second phase, in which the MRI picture is clustered to determine the depth at which the calcification is present. The algorithm's performance and the amount of time it takes to finish each cluster phase are examined. To further demonstrate its complete accuracy, the algorithm's efficiency is being monitored.
