Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the region, frequency, distribution, age, and sex of histopathologically diagnosed oral malignant and oral potentially malignant lesions obtained from patients admitted to the Department of Pathology, Dicle University Faculty of Medicine, Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. Methods: The pathological data of oral malignant and potentially malignant lesions histopathologically diagnosed at the Department of Pathology, Dicle University Faculty of Medicine, between 2018 and 2023, were retrospectively reviewed. Potentially malignant and malignant oral lesions were classified, and their distribution according to region, age, and sex was analyzed. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used to analyze the conformity of continuous variables to the normal distribution. The type I error level was accepted as 5% in statistical analyses. Results: Among 161 patients with oral or potential malignancy, 76 (47.2%) were female and 85 (52.8%) were male, with a mean age of 53.9 ± 17.4 years. The most common lesions were found in the buccal mucosa (40.4%). When 104 malignant lesions were analyzed, the most common lesion was oral squamous cell carcinoma with a rate of 75%, and when 57 potentially malignant lesions were analyzed, 38 (66.7%) of the patients had lichen planus, and 19 (33.3%) had leukoplakia. Conclusion: This retrospective study shows the distribution, frequency, and characteristics of malignant lesions in the oral cavity in a group of populations, especially in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey, and allows comparison with studies in different populations. Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the antimicrobial efficacy of chelation agents on Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) and Candida albicans (C. albicans) when used alone or in combination with propolis. Methods: One hundred fifty mandibular premolar teeth were selected. Each canal was prepared with Reciproc R25. The roots were then divided into two parts along their long axis (n=300). For E. faecalis and C. albicans, the samples were divided into 16 groups (14 experimental and 2 control) as follows: Group 1A-1B [17% Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA)], Group 2A-2B [10% Citric Acid (CA)], Group 3A-3B [1% phytic acid/inositol hexaphosphate (IP6)], Group 4A-4B (17% EDTA+8 mg/mL propolis), Group 5A-5B (10% CA+8 mg/mL propolis), Group 6A-6B (1% IP6+8mg/mL propolis), Group 7A-7B (8 mg/mL propolis), Control A-B (Dimethyl Sulfoxide). Each tooth was randomly irrigated with 2 mL of one of the group solutions or dispersions for 5 min, and the solutions were examined for the bactericidal effect. Results: For C. albicans, all groups showed less optical density (OD) than the control group (P<0.05). The propolis group and the IP6 group had higher OD values than the CA group (P<0.05). For E. faecalis, on the other hand, significantly lower OD values were observed in the propolis+ CA group, compared to the CA and propolis groups (P<0.05). There was no significant difference between microbial growth among IP6, EDTA, propolis+ CA, propolis+IP6, and propolis+ EDTA groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: CA and IP6 showed promising results in eliminating E. faecalis, one of the collective organisms responsible for failed root canals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Hands are a organ we use most in our daily and business life. The most frequent use causes the most frequent injury and these hand injuries cause loss of the workforce. Method: This retrospective and non-invasive study was conducted a telephone questionnaire to the patient who applied to our hospital with the complaint of hand injury. Results: One hundred thirty patients participated in our study. 74.6% of our patients were male patients and the duration of return to work of male patients was significantly longer than female patients. When we look at the education levels, 84.6 of our patients did'not have a university education and each decrease in education levels was found to be statistically significant in prolonging the duration at return to work. Thirty one of our patients were admitted to our hospital due to work accident and the duration of being away from work was 77.5% longer than those normal injuries, and loss of productivity when they returned to work was found to be significantly higher than in normal patients. Significant early return to work and higher productivity was found in our patients who received physical therapy (PT) compared to patients who didnot received PT. There was no significant result in terms of return to work and productivity between patients who do sport and those who do not. According to the statements of our patients, there was no significant relationship between smoking and return to work and loss of productivity. Conclusion: Occupational accidents, lack of PT, and low education had a negative impact on return-to-work durations and productivity. Hasandağ is an active composite volcanic system located in the Central Anatolian Volcanic Province (CAVP). A comprehensive field survey was conducted to reveal the hydrothermal activity within the Hasandağ volcanic system, with particular emphasis on Self-Potential (SP) mapping. The Hasandağ system is characterised by the presence of twin stratovolcanoes that arise from pre-existing partially buried calderas. In conjunction with the SP measurements, carbon dioxide concentration (CO 2) and surface temperature (ST) measurements were taken. The temperature measurements were elaborated with thermal infrared remote (TIR) sensing methods. The SP results, with a peak-to-peak magnitude of 3.8 Volts, revealed the presence of a significant hydrothermal input in both of the twin cones, characterised by a typical W-shaped anomaly commonly observed in active volcanoes. The highest SP signal coincides with the active fumarole zone at the western flank of G. Hasandağ summit, where we measured ∼70 °C vapour temperatures and relatively high CO 2 output (>100,000 ppm). The SP/elevation (Ce) gradient assisted in revealing the hydrothermal and hydrogeological zonation, providing substantial evidence of the relationship between hydrothermal circulation and the structural frame of the volcano. Integrated evaluation of SP, CO 2 , and temperature data revealed the structural control on the hydrothermal and hydrogeological circulation, with the contribution of Hasandağ, Karacaören, and Karkın Faults as major structural components. The partially buried rim of the Hasandağ caldera was revealed through the detection of a 'double Ce-low' signal, providing valuable insights on the dimensions of the structure and its role in the hydrogeological cycle of the system. The extent and magnitude of the hydrothermal activity observed, the Holocene eruptive history of the volcano, and its proximity to populated areas denote the requirement of further geophysical and geochronological research and the necessity of hazard assessment and instrumental monitoring. • Hasandağ system is defined by the twin stratovolcanoes rising inside older calderas. • A Self-Potential, CO 2 and Temperature survey was conducted at Hasandağ system. • With 3.8 Volts amplitude, SP results revealed a significant hydrothermal input. • The hydrothermal zone encircling two summits and the hydrogeological zone are mapped. • SP, CO 2 and ST results reveal the structural control of the fluid circulation. We assessed the radiological and functional results of pediatric both-bone forearm diaphyseal fractures treated using elastic stable intramedullary nails (ESINs), as well as factors affecting the results. In total, 36 patients (33 males and three females; mean age, 11.6 years) were included. The mean follow-up time was 41.5 (18-96) months. Patient demographic characteristics and the details of the surgical techniques were analyzed retrospectively. In addition to standard radiographic evaluations, the ratio between the nail diameter and medullary canal diameter (ND/MCD) was measured, as well as the maximal radial bowing. According to the criteria of Price and Flynn, 28 (77.8%) and eight (22.2%) patients had excellent and good results, respectively. There were no cases of nonunion or delayed union. There was no significant difference in functional or radiological results according to whether titanium nails (24 patients) or stainless steel nails (12 patients) were used (all P  > 0.05). Nail prebending (performed in 19 patients) did not affect the functional or radiological results ( P  > 0.05). Loss of reduction was observed in four patients with an ND/MCD ratio <40%. The maximal radial bowing improved in all patients. The mean change was significantly greater in patients with diastases and 22D/4.1 fractures. Regardless of nail type or prebending status, surgery using ESIN placement effectively treats both-bone forearm diaphyseal fractures; radial bow remodeling outcomes are excellent.
