Daytime napping, a habit widely adopted globally, has an unclear association with obesity. In this study, we executed a meta-analysis to explore the relationship between daytime napping and obesity. We conducted a comprehensive search of the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Scopus, PsycINFO, and Web of Science databases for pertinent articles published up to April 2023. Random-effects models were utilized to calculate odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs), and we assessed the heterogeneity of the included studies using the I2 statistic. To explore potential sources of heterogeneity, subgroup analyses were performed. The methodological quality of the studies was evaluated using the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale (NOS), and funnel plots were employed to detect any publication bias. Sensitivity analyses were conducted by sequentially omitting each study. We conducted a meta-analysis of twelve studies that included one each from the UK and Spain, five from the USA, and five from China, totalling 170,134 participants, to probe the association between napping and obesity. The pooled analysis suggested a higher risk of obesity in individuals who nap (OR: 1.22 [1.10–1.35], p < 0.001, I2 = 87%) compared to non-nappers. The meta-analysis results revealed variations in the summary ORs for studies conducted in China, Spain, the USA, and the UK. The ORs for China, Spain, the USA, and the UK were 1.05 (95% CI 0.90–1.23), 9.36 (95% CI 4.74–18.45), 1.27 (95% CI 1.10–1.47), and 1.39 (95% CI 1.32–1.47), respectively. A subgroup analysis based on age within the American population disclosed that napping in both adults and children heightened obesity incidence. A subgroup analysis based on nap duration found a significant rise in obesity occurrence when nap duration exceeded one hour, but no clear relationship emerged when nap duration was less than 1 h. In a subgroup analysis based on the definition of obesity, napping did not demonstrate a significant relationship with obesity when diagnostic criteria set obesity at a BMI of 25 or above. However, when the criteria were set at a BMI of 28 or 30 or more, napping significantly increased obesity risk. Our meta-analysis indicates a positive association between daytime napping and the risk of obesity. However, given the limited number of included studies, potential confounding factors might not have been fully addressed. Future well-designed prospective studies are required to further investigate this relationship. During the last three years, numerous research papers have been reported which use social media data to explore several issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bibliometric methods in this work are used to analyze 1427 peer-reviewed documents from the last three years extracted from the Web of Science database. The results of this study show that there was high growth in publications in open access journals with an annual rate reaching 19.3% and they also identify the top cited journals and research papers. The thematic analysis of papers shows that research topics related to social media for surveillance and monitoring of public attitudes and perceptions, mental health, misinformation, and fake news are important and well-developed, whereas topics related to distance-learning education with social media are emerging. The results also show that the USA, China, and the UK have published many papers and received a high number of citations because of their strong international collaboration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The main objective of this bibliometric study is to examine the publications globally from the Journal of Information Science in the specific period of forty two years (1979-2020). It provides insights into research-based activities. The data was extracted from the Science Citation Index database, Web of Science. This analysis provides information about the document types, yearly published documents within 42 years, top productive authors, top productive institutions and countries, frequently used keywords, and greatly cited articles. These aspects also meet the objectives of the study and provide the major findings such as the majority of the publications are "articles" belong to the Department of Information Science from the UK. That is also a top productive country. The author "Oppenheim C." is on the first position with highest total publications (TP). The highly used keyword is "Information" and the article "Usage patterns of collaborative tagging systems" has the highest ranking in the citation. Our aim was to re-evaluate the h-index of neurosurgical units in the United Kingdom and Ireland because it was 5 years since it was last reported. Using the Web of Science database, we collated cumulative (1950–2020), 10-year (2011–2020), 5-year (2016–2020), and 3-year (2018–2020) data for neurosurgical units in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Data included h-index, number of publications, and average number of citations. In total, 37 neurosurgical units were found in the United Kingdom and Ireland, which we ranked according to h-index. Since last reviewed 5 years previously, some units had changed their position, whereas others had remained reasonably static. The top 5 units were the same for the 10-year h-index between 2015 and 2020. The 5-year h-index showed some variation in the top 5 compared with the 10-year h-index. We were also able to compare 2 other studies with similar methods but differing from ours. The h-index for neurosurgical units is the most reliable bibliometric, which shows the academic standing and correlates well with amount of research grant obtained and size of department. It is particularly useful when calculated for the most recent 10-year and 5-year periods. Neurosurgical units change their rankings over time and, therefore, it is important to update the tables periodically. We propose an online database with open access showing all h-index and bibliometric data for neurosurgical units in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common condition encountered by an array of subspecialists and is the most cited research topic within the field of andrology. This bibliometric analysis aims to identify the most influential papers that inform current clinical practice and likely shape future research. The Thompson Reuters Web of Science citation database was interrogated using search terms to cover the breadth of erectile dysfunction. Results were ranked according to citation number with country of origin, journal, topic, year of publication, author and institution also analysed. The search criteria matched 12,570 manuscripts. The top 100 highest citation ranged from 3013 to 161 (median 229.5). The most cited manuscript reports the prevalence and risk factors of ED within the Massachusetts Male Aging Study. The most manuscripts were published by the Journal of Urology (n = 15) with a total of 7913 citations. Institutions from the USA contributed the majority (n = 55) with the UK (n = 14) second. The most common theme represented was epidemiology (n = 46) followed by treatment (n = 27). This analysis provides a list of the most influential manuscripts within ED and illustrates what can be considered a 'highly citable' paper. The most influential papers in Erectile Dysfunction remain seminal works from the end of the last century. The most cited manuscript has been cited 194 times in the last 17 months showing its continued value. The ethnicity data gap hinders public health research from addressing ethnic health inequity in the UK, especially for under-served young, migrant populations. We aimed to review how ethnicity was captured, reported, analysed, and theorised within policy-relevant research. For this bibliographical review, we reviewed a selection of the 1% most highly cited population health papers reporting UK ethnicity data in MEDLINE and Web of Science databases between Jan 1, 1946, and July 31, 2022, and extracted how ethnicity was recorded and analysed. We included cross-sectional, longitudinal cohort studies, and randomised trials using only UK populations, which were peer-reviewed, were written in English, and reported ethnicity and any health-related outcomes. We held three focus groups with ten participants aged 18–25 years, from Nigeria, Turkistan, Syria, Yemen, and Iran to help us shape and interpret our findings, and asked "How should ethnicity be asked inclusively, and better recorded?" and "Does ethnicity change over time or context? If so, why?". We consolidated feedback from our focus groups into a co-created poster with recommendations for researchers studying ethnicity and health. Written informed consent was obtained for focus group participation. Of 44 papers included in the review, 19 (43%) used self-reported ethnicity, but the number of ethnic categories provided varied. Of 27 papers that aggregated ethnicity, 13 (48%) provided justification. Only eight (18%) explicitly theorised how ethnicity related to health. The focus groups agreed that (1) ethnicity should not be prescribed by others (individuals could be asked to describe their ethnicity in free-text, which researchers could synthesise to extract relevant dimensions of ethnicity for their research) and (2) Ethnicity changes over time and context according to personal experience, social pressure, and nationality change. The lived experience of ethnicity of migrants and non-migrants is not fully interchangeable, even if they share the same ethnic category. Researchers should communicate clearly how ethnicity is operationalised in their studies, with appropriate justification for clustering and analysis that is meaningfully theorised. Our study was limited by its non-systematic nature. Implementing the recommendation to capture ethnicity via free text remains challenging in administrative data systems. Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a long‐term condition that causes abscesses on the skin especially in the groin, between buttocks, under breasts and in armpits. Our team of researchers in the UK reviewed what has been reported about people's experiences of living with HS and treatment for HS. We reviewed qualitative research from across the globe. Qualitative studies focus on the meaning of what people say rather than counting information. Qualitative studies are most often done via interviews or focus groups. We searched four scientific databases containing research publications. Screening of over 5500 publications resulted in us finding 14 qualitative studies of experiences of HS. We summarized themes from across these studies and interpreted the findings. Our results confirm there are many physical, psychological and social challenges of living with HS and these affect people's lives. As a result of shame and embarrassment, people attempt to hide their HS. Social support and psychological acceptance can help people cope. This study also draws attention to the fact that people with HS fall through the cracks of healthcare systems because of delayed diagnosis and patients not feeling supported in managing the condition. We conclude that there needs to be improvements to clinical care to allow people with HS to live their life more fully. We suggest that early access to specialists for a diagnosis, management by a variety of health professionals working as a team, access to social support networks and improved communication about managing HS could all lead to improvements in care.
