The Jilin clawed salamander (Onychodactylus zhangyapingi) is an endemic, endangered, and level‐two protected amphibian species of China. In the context of serious threats to amphibians worldwide, conservation studies of this endangered species are urgently needed. In this study, mitogenomic conservation genetics and species distribution modeling analyses were performed for O. zhangyapingi. Sixty‐three samples were collected from nine different locations, and the complete mitochondrial genome was sequenced. Population genetic analyses revealed that O. zhangyapingi exhibits only one genetic structure with extremely low nucleotide diversity. Late Pleistocene climate cooling may have led to a reduction in effective population size and extremely low mitogenomic nucleotide diversity in this salamander, and the subsequent temperature increase (~20 kya to present) provided the opportunity for rapid population growth. The continuous highly suitable region for O. zhangyapingi is only approximately 3000 km2 on the southeastern boundary of Jilin Province, China. Fortunately, there are three large forested national nature reserves within the distribution of O. zhangyapingi that can effectively protect endangered species. Our findings suggest that O. zhangyapingi is a vulnerable species with a narrow distribution and extremely low genetic diversity, and we should pay more attention to the conservation management of this species. Guangzhou is located in the southern part of China, near the South China Sea, belongs to Guangdong Province. It serves as China's southern gateway to the world and was historically called "The Southern Treasure of the Emperor", playing a crucial role in China's maritime trade history. Throughout Chinese history, Guangzhou underwent several cycles of "closure" and "opening", policies that severely impacted trade. However, foreign merchants never ceased to request permission from the Chinese government to engage in trade. In 1757, Emperor Qianlong decreed Guangzhou as the only one official port for foreign trade. This edict led to the establishment of the one port trading system in Guangzhou, as the Qing government aimed to counter foreign influences and local uprisings while maintaining a self-sufficient small-scale agricultural economy. Western nations and their traders sought opportunities within this system, aspiring to expand trade to other regions of China, even the inland areas. The exclusive status of Guangzhou as China's only one trading port persisted until 1842, following the defeat of the Qing government in the Opium War against Britain, the Nanjing Treaty was signed. This treaty opened Guangzhou, Shanghai, Ningbo, Fuzhou, and Xiamen as trading ports, bringing an end to the one port trading system. The reasons and impacts of the establishment of this system have not been comprehensively analyzed to date. Therefore, this paper based on historical archives, analyzes both the direct and underlying reasons behind Emperor Qianlong's decision and elucidates the system's diverse impacts on various aspects of Qing-era China. This study pivots from the broadly beneficial view of servant leadership and focuses on its negative effects on leaders themselves. Combining the constructionist approach with the job demands–resources (JD‐R) model, we propose the mutualism and parasitism paths and argue that servant leadership behaviors and followers' responses co‐construct leaders' emotional exhaustion. Specifically, we hypothesize that servant leadership influences followers' job demands and resources and, thus, predicts team taking charge and team dependence on leader. In turn, the two factors influence leaders' job demands and resources and, consequently, impact leaders' emotional exhaustion. Using two‐wave data of 385 employees from 83 teams, our results support the hypothesized model. Overall, our model and findings help explain the dark side of servant leadership. Invasive species are one of the most serious threats to biodiversity. Pomacea canaliculata is considered one of the world's 100 worst invasive species. Major determinants of invasive species distribution are their environmental tolerances, and an understanding of correlations between local environmental variables (e.g., pH, concentration of dissolved oxygen) and genetic diversity is necessary to better prevent and manage the spread of invasive species. However, while such studies have demonstrated associations between the distribution and density of P. canaliculata and water quality correlates, the principal mechanisms relating genetic and these environmental correlates have not been fully articulated. Here, the correlation between physicochemical parameters and genetics of P. canaliculata were analyzed. The results showed that P. canaliculata among the six collection locations had robust genetic diversity, significant genetic differentiation, limited gene flow, and stable population dynamics. RDA analysis showed that genetic variation in P. canaliculata was significantly correlated with concentration of dissolved oxygen and pH. These results will provide a basis for effectively preventing and managing the spread of invasive species and identifying which habitats may be more at risk of invasion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Black carbon (BC), an important component of atmospheric aerosol, plays a significant role in regional climate, hydrological cycle, variation of monsoon rainfall, and human health. The 40-year detailed atmospheric BC over China from 1981 to 2020 is systematically investigated through the MERRA-2 reanalysis dataset. MERRA-2 BC generally showed a good correlation (R = 0.68) compared with 673 monthly samples from ground-based observation at 35 stations around China. The overall annual average of MERRA-2 BC concentration over China is 1.15 μg/m3, with a fast growth rate during 1981–2007 and a relatively slow decrease after that. The winter season has the highest mean concentration of BC, followed by autumn and spring, whereas summer shows relatively weaker values. The order of annual average BC concentrations during 1981–2020 is Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region (BTH, 4.02 μg/m3) > Sichuan Basin (SB, 3.94 μg/m3) > Yangtze River Delta (YRD, 2.68 μg/m3) > Pearl River Delta (PRD, 1.47 μg/m3). The monthly mean BC concentrations over the BTH, YRD, PRD and SB are estimated to be smallest 3.18 μg/m3 in May, 1.94 μg/m3 in August, 0.82 μg/m3 in July, 3.04 μg/m3 in June, respectively, whilst largest consistently in December with 5.09 μg/m3, 3.83 μg/m3, 2.12 μg/m3, and 5.41 μg/m3, respectively. Our study indicates the primary potential source areas for BC are concentrated in the research city and its surroundings. Beijing and Chengdu are more BC-polluted areas than Shanghai and Guangzhou. Long-distance, regional transfer from south BTH contributes importantly to BC pollution in Beijing under the influence of prevailing southerly winds. Urban expansion is the result of the comprehensive action of various social and economic factors, among which variation in land prices is regarded as the leading factor affecting the direction and intensity of urban expansion. However, few of existing studies have explored the interaction relationship between urban expansion and variations in residential land prices, which needs to be looked at urgently in both theoretical research and decision-making practice. In this study, based on theoretical analysis, a panel vector autoregression model was constructed using the data of 104 cities in China from 2001 to 2017. The results show that there is a long-term two-way causality and mutual promotion between urban expansion and increases in residential land prices. The increase in the residential land supply caused by urban expansion will restrain the rise of residential land prices, but this effect is not sustained over the long run. Both urban expansion and residential land price rises are subject to inertia, the latter to a greater extent than the former. The results also reveal that the interaction differs for cities at different stages of economic development. Based on the analysis, policy suggestions for guiding urban expansion and further exerting macrocontrol over land market are proposed. It is very necessary to study the land price of urban housing, because this issue is related to the increase in people's happiness in life. Land price change is considered the dominant factor affecting the direction and intensity of urban expansion. Therefore, studying the relationship between urban expansion and residential land price is helpful to guide the orderly and reasonable urban expansion. The purpose of this study is to clarify the detailed process of urban expansion and residential land price, so as to help policymakers to formulate corresponding policies in different links, and to combine the research conclusions with the process of making policy recommendations, in order to provide beneficial help for urban planners and decision-makers in urban planning and land price regulation policies. This study aims to explore the determinants of preschool choice among middle-income parents in Shanghai, the city with the most adequate and diversified preschool services in China. We administer an online survey to 333 Shanghai middle-income parents and find that preschool quality, children's development, and parents' needs constitute the determinants of preschool choice. Furthermore, the parents are primarily concerned about program quality and the development of children's self-care abilities. Among them, 226 parents are very satisfied with the kindergarten they chose, 99 parents are satisfied, eight are generally satisfied, and none reports feeling dissatisfied. There are significant effects of preschool type, parental jobs, and parental education level on parental satisfaction. Those emerging middle-income parents can only send their children to second-level preschools, which are relatively below their expectations, they tended to have lower satisfaction. These findings imply that the educational authorities should adjust their policymaking to meet the varying needs of middle-income families in rapidly developing cities. Introduction: Patient gender has clinical and prognostic implications in non‐cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis, yet the potential effect of gender on clinical characteristics of patients with non‐cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis is still unclear. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the gender differences in clinical characteristics of patients with bronchiectasis in different age groups in northern China. Methods: A total of 777 patients diagnosed with bronchiectasis were retrospectively included in Beijing Chaoyang Hospital and divided into two groups by gender: the male group and the female group. Each group was then subdivided into two according to their age (≤65 and >65 years). Gender differences in clinical characteristics were compared in all patients with bronchiectasis in the two age groups, respectively. Results: A total of 777 bronchiectasis patients were included. Of these patients, the prevalence of female non‐smokers was substantially higher than that of male non‐smokers (94.0% vs. 36.8%). There were gender differences in etiology of bronchiectasis, with more post‐measles and connective tissue disease in females (p = 0.006 and 0.002 separately) and more chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in males (p < 0.001). The male group had a significantly higher C‐reactive protein (CRP) on admission (p = 0.03). Female patients showed a higher forced expiratory volume in 1 s as percentage of predicted volume (FEV1%pred) and forced vital capacity rate of 1 s (FEV1/FVC) (p < 0.001), lower partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2) (p = 0.04) and hospital costs (p = 0.02) than males, and a higher prevalence of infection with Pseudomonas aeruginosa in >65‐year‐old group (p = 0.019). Conclusions: There were many differences between male and female patients in smoking status, etiology, lung function, blood gas analysis, and hospital costs in all patients or different age groups. The wet deposition flux of black carbon (BC) over the Sichuan Basin is studied on the basis of the MERRA-2 data from 1981 to 2020, aiming at investigating high BC wet deposition flux in China in terms of long-term spatial-temporal trends and influences of BC column mass density and precipitation. In China, the largest BC wet deposition flux with a regionally-averaged value of 1.00 × 10−2 μg m−2 s−1 over the Sichuan Basin is observed, especially in the western and southern regions of the Basin with values as high as 2.20 × 10−2 μg m−2 s−1. The seasonality of BC wet deposition flux over the Sichuan Basin depicts maximum levels in autumn, moderate levels in spring and winter, and minimum levels in summer. The monthly mean BC wet deposition flux varies almost twofold, ranging from the lowest average value of 8.05 × 10−3 μg m−2 s−1 in July to the highest 1.28 × 10−2 μg m−2 s−1 in October. This study suggests that BC column mass density and precipitation are two significant factors affecting high BC wet deposition flux, whereas BC wet deposition flux is more related to BC column mass density than to precipitation over the Sichuan Basin. Due to the lack of restrictions on the exploitation and use of coal mine resources in early China, many wetland lakes were formed because of the changes in geological structure and groundwater overflows, which seriously damaged the land for production and construction. At present, the research on the key technologies and landscape design of water ecosystems and wetland repair in subsidence areas is still insufficient. By analyzing the current situation of the Pan'an Lake Wetland, this paper focuses on the strategies of wetland repair and landscape design in this resource-exhausted area. Primulina malingheensis X.X. Bai, F. Wen & Y.L. Zhou, a new species of Gesneriaceae from a karst area in Guizhou Province, China, is described and illustrated. Breakthroughs in biotechnology, globalizing intellectual property rights legislations, and growing venture capital in the past thirty years have given rise to new forms of capitalist accumulation that scholars called biocapitalism. Bioscientific knowledge under biocapitalism is increasingly parceled out from a global common to private enclosures for biotech and pharmaceutical companies, contributing to vast inequalities and fractures of global access to innovation evident in the COVID-19 pandemic. The assetization and financialization of knowledge have shifted the ground of innovation from competitive commodity production and exchanges to generating, managing, and commercializing patents and associated monopoly rights, thus raising the challenges of innovation for those developing countries specialized in production. Many Asian countries have invested heavily in biomedical sciences to enhance their knowledge assets but had limited success in translating the scientific development to a globally significant biomedical industry. This article discusses the evolution of China's biomedical industry from a technological laggard to a recent innovation boom after a regulatory overhaul in 2015. Analyzing the patent collaborative networks of China's biomedical industry since 2003, we found the central roles of domestic public research institutions, in contrast to multinational corporations, as cutting-edge knowledge providers. We argue that China's path of the biomedical industry is distinct from its other technology industries that rely on multinational corporations for core knowledge. It represents a national articulation in response to global biocapitalism by situating the domestic research institutions and biomedical firms at the center of knowledge assets production and engaging globally in the science and drug regulatory systems. Objective. To explore the effect of Xinyi Biyan Pill in adjuvant treatment of patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) and its influence on serum inflammatory factors and immune function. Methods. From January 2017 to April 2020, 112 CRS patients admitted to this hospital were randomly divided into the control group (n = 52) and the study group (n = 60). The control group was treated with endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS), after the operation, levofloxacin capsules were taken orally, budesonide nasal spray was given, and the nasal cavity was flushed with normal saline; on the basis of that mentioned above, the study group was treated with Xinyi Biyan Pill orally after the surgery. The clinical efficacy and the symptom relief time of nasal congestion and runny nose, hyposmia, mucosal edema, and vesicles disappearance of the two groups after treatment were observed; the serum inflammatory factors' (C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and interleukin-8 (IL-8)) and immune function indexes' (total immunoglobulin E (TIgE), eosinophil cationic protein (ECP), CD3+, CD4+, and CD4+/CD8+) expression levels before and after treatment in the two groups were detected; the recurrence of CRS after 1 year of treatment in the two groups was recorded. Result. After treatment, the total clinical effective rate of the study group (92.98%) was significantly higher than that of the control group (78.00%) (P < 0.05). After treatment, the symptom relief time of nasal congestion and runny nose, hyposmia, mucosal edema, and vesicle disappearance in the study group was shorter than that in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the expression levels of serum CRP, IL-6, and IL-8 in the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, and the study group was significantly lower than the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the expression levels of serum TIgE and ECP of the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, the expression levels of serum CD3+, CD4+, and CD4+/CD8+ of the two groups were significantly higher than those before treatment, and the study group had significant changes compared with the control group (P < 0.05). After 1 year of treatment, the recurrence rate of CRS in the study group (1.79%) was significantly lower than that in the control group (12.00%) (P < 0.05). Conclusion. Xinyi Biyan Pill has a significant clinical effect in adjuvant treatment of CRS patients. It can effectively reduce the expression level of serum inflammatory factors, improve the body's immune function, and prevent short-term recurrence. It is worthy of clinical promotion. The ongoing coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has serious influences on human health and economy. The available clinical data suggest that patients infected by SARS-CoV-2 have the possibility of simultaneous infection of bacteria. In this study, we present a data-driven mathematical model for coinfection of SARS-CoV-2 and bacteria to investigate the dynamics of COVID-19 progress. Specifically, based on the statistical analysis of different clinical data from China and some other countries, a system model with ordinary differential equations (ODEs) in four variables, i.e. SARS-CoV-2, bacteria, neutrophils and lymphocytes, is established. We further validate our model through theoretical analysis and fitting of different clinical data. Moreover, through numerical simulations and bifurcation analysis, we find that bacterial infection and immune-related parameters in certain ranges lead to the system transitions among three steady states, i.e. mild, severe and death. We also analyzed the influence of the time it takes for patients to switch from a high-risk area to a low-risk area on the recovery time. These results reveal that the coinfection of viruses and bacteria can explain the changes in neutrophils and lymphocytes, and that initial bacterial infection and immune-related parameters have great influences on the severity degree and mortality in COVID-19 patients. Together, our model and quantitative analysis suggest that preventing bacterial infection and enhancing immune ability during the early phase of infections could be a potential treatment option for high-risk COVID-19 patients. As internet privacy concern (IPC) keeps spiking, it is imperative to reexamine privacy concern among social media users in a cross-cultural context. Using the purposive sampling method, this study recruited 1,340 social media users aged 18–82 in the United State and China. It integrates medium theory and cultural perspectives to study IPC by analyzing the technological antecedents of social media use among young users who grew up with social media and their "digital immigrant" parents who did not. U.S. and Chinese respondents were concerned about IPC regardless of their genders. Young people reported a lower IPC level than elder users. IPC was negatively related to social media power use, but not to social media habitual use. Some cultural differences were revealed. Among those aged 18–25, U.S. users had significantly lower IPC than their Chinese counterparts. In those aged 50+, little difference concerning IPC existed between U.S. and Chinese users. This study represents the first attempt of integrating both technology and cultural perspectives to examine internet privacy concern. The findings, including one's cultural background moderating the association between social media power use and IPC, should contribute to a better understanding of privacy concerns in a cross-cultural setting. Interpreting regulatory documents or building codes into computer-processable formats is essential for the intelligent design and construction of buildings and infrastructures. Although automated rule interpretation (ARI) methods have been investigated for years, most of them are highly dependent on the early and manual filtering of interpretable clauses from a building code. While few of them considered machine interpretability, which represents the potential to be transformed into a computer-processable format, from both clause- and document-level. Therefore, this research aims to propose a novel approach to automatically evaluate and enhance the machine interpretability of single clauses and building codes. First, a few categories are introduced to classify each clause in a building code considering the requirements for rule interpretation, and a dataset is developed for model training. Then, an efficient text classification model is developed based on a pretrained domain-specific language model and transfer learning techniques. Finally, a quantitative evaluation method is proposed to assess the overall interpretability of building codes. Experiments show that the proposed text classification algorithm outperforms the existing CNN- or RNN-based methods, by improving the F1-score from 72.16% to 93.60%. It is also illustrated that the proposed classification method can enhance downstream ARI methods with an improvement of 4%. Furthermore, analysis of more than 150 building codes in China showed that their average interpretability is only 34.40%, which implies that it is still difficult to fully transform an entire regulatory document into computer-processable formats. It is also argued that the interpretability of building codes should be further improved both from the human side (considering certain constraints when writing building codes) and the machine side (developing more powerful algorithms, tools, etc.). During the damage and defects related to rolling contact fatigue (RCF), together with wear occurring at the rail surface, the microscopic characteristics of the rail material change with the accumulation of wheel cycles. To find the relationship between rail material characteristics and RCF damage under wheel-rail contact situations, a series of twin-disc rolling-sliding tests, based on real wheel-rail contact situations at a radius of 80 mm rail profile, was established for a heavy-haul railway in China. The microscale characteristics of the rail disc contact surface was researched, including crack, wear, roughness, and hardness of the U75V rail with different load cycles. The results show that the damage mechanism of RCF and wear alternately dominates the rail disc surface at the microscale, taking a certain cycle as a boundary which makes the RCF crack number and wear rate have opposite evolutionary trends. The above factors also affect the wear at the surface rail discs, alternating between fatigue and adhesion. Meanwhile, increasing the surface micro-hardness leads to a decrease in the relative wear rate and an increase in the roughness, length and number of RCF cracks. The plastic deformation layers, including the severely deformed layer (SDL) and the transition layer (TL), almost maintain the same thickness and the dynamic equilibrium increases during the cycles. Two kinds of cracks are initiated and propagated at the rail disc surface, one at the SDL and the other at the junction of SDL and TL. The number of each kind of crack depends on the SDL thickness. • The RCF and wear mechanisms dominated the rail surface alternately by a certain cycle. • Increasing the microhardness makes wear decreasing followed by an increase in roughness and RCF cracks. • The adhesive and fatigue wear happened alternately during the cycles. • The fracture mode of along or through the crystal depends on plastic deformation layer. • The thickness of the severely deformed and transition layers changes on opposite while keeps the entire thickness constant. Background: Previous studies have found that the triglyceride glucose index (TyG index) trajectories are associated with cardiovascular diseases. However, the association between the patterns of TyG index trajectories and risk for hypertension has not been investigated. In a longitudinal general population, we aimed to identify distinct TyG index trajectories over 12 years and describe their association with incidence of hypertension. Method: Of the 15,056 adults retrospectively recruited from the Physical Examination Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University in northeast of China from 2011 to 2022. TyG index was calculated as ln (fasting TG [mg/dL] × FPG [mg/dL]/2) and the TyG index trajectories were developed using group-based trajectory modelling. Cox regression analysis was accomplished to assess the association between TyG index and incidence of hypertension. Results: The median age of the population was 38 years, and 7352 (48.83%) of the participants were men. Three distinct TyG index trajectories were identified: "low increasing" (N = 7241), "moderate increasing" (N = 6448), and "high stable" (N = 1367). Using "low increasing" trajectory as a reference, "moderate increasing" and "high stable" trajectory were associated with increased risk of hypertension (HR = 2.45; 95% CI 2.25–2.67 and HR = 3.88; 95% CI 3.48–4.33). After adjusting for baseline sex, age, diabetes, smoking, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, BMI, cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol, blood glucose, triglyceride, urea, uric acid, and glomerular filtration rate, the HR were slightly attenuate in "moderate increasing" and "high stable" trajectories to 1.38 (95% CI 1.23–1.54) and 1.69 (95% CI 1.40–2.02) respectively. Meanwhile, similar results were observed in multiple sensitivity analyses. The HR of the "moderate increasing" and "high stable" trajectory groups were 2.63 (95% CI 2.30–3.00) and 4.66 (95% CI 3.66–5.93) in female, and 1.66 (95% CI 1.48–1.86) and 2.33 (95% CI 2.04–2.66) in male. Conclusions: Elevated TyG index at baseline and long-term TyG index trajectories were associated with the risk of hypertension. Wear and rolling contact fatigue (RCF) cracks are the key defects affecting the service life of heavy‐haul railways in China. In this study, based on the influences of the loading sequence and the interaction between adjacent loads, a modified nonlinear fatigue damage accumulation model under the steady‐state wheel–rail contact was developed to predict the coexistence of wear growth and head check (HC) initiation. A twin‐roller fatigue test was designed and performed, and the testing data were compared with the predicted data to verify the established model. Compared with the linear model, the nonlinear model yielded the faster fatigue damage with an HC initiation life of 2.58 × 105 wheel cycles, which was 24.34% less than that of the linear model. In addition, the HC initiation lives obtained from the nonlinear and linear models were close to the median and upper limits observed in the field, respectively. The results of the linear and nonlinear models were respectively 41.3% and 22.5% higher than the two‐round test results. The result of the nonlinear model was closer to the two‐round test result of 2 × 105. Aerosol direct radiative forcing (ADRF) has substantial impacts on regional and global climate changes, whereas it remains one of the largest uncertainties among various climate forcing factors. The 40-year detailed clear-sky ADRFs over China from 1981 to 2020 are systematically studied based on the MERRA-2 satellite reanalysis data, which hopefully benefit for the evaluation of the performances of aerosol-climate models. The clear-sky shortwave ADRFs show diverse spatial distributions with strong top of atmosphere (TOA) and surface cooling and atmospheric heating over the Taklamakan desert, eastern China, and southern China. A high clear-sky longwave surface ADRF reaching ∼6.5 W/m2 over dust source regions is found, and continuous increase of ADRFs over the Taklamakan desert during the past four decades may indicate that dust episodes therein are becoming severe. The mean clear-sky shortwave surface, TOA and atmospheric ADRFs, and longwave surface ADRF over China during 1981–2020 are found to be −12.3, −5.1, 7.2, and 1.0 W/m2, respectively. The seasonality of clear-sky ADRFs shows strongest mean values in spring, moderate forcings in summer and fall, and weakest levels in winter. The monthly average clear-sky surface and TOA ADRFs over China vary by approximately twofold, ranging the weakest values of −7.8 and −3.9 W/m2 in December to the strongest −17.6 and −7.1 W/m2 in April, respectively. Distinctive seasonal and monthly patterns of clear-sky ADRFs are generally seen among the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Tarim Basin in China, while the monthly ADRF patterns over a typical area of these four regions are similar during four different decades. The clear-sky ADRFs over China are highly correlated with aerosol optical thickness, and dust has strong influences on clear-sky shortwave aerosol direct radiative forcing among column aerosol compositions. Atmospheric dry deposition of black carbon (BC) is a significant but poorly understood and inadequately described process in aerosol-climate models. The 40-year detailed dry deposition velocities of hydrophilic BC over China from 1981 to 2020 were systematically studied based on the MERRA-2 reanalysis data, which hopefully will be beneficial for its applications in atmospheric systems for climate and air quality. The average dry deposition flux of hydrophilic BC over China was 0.00059 ± 0.00014 μg m−2 s−1, while its dry deposition velocity was estimated to be 0.00051 ± 0.00004 m s−1. The monthly mean dry deposition fluxes of hydrophilic BC varied nearly 1.5 fold, ranging from the lowest 0.00046 ± 0.00011 μg m−2 s−1 in August to the highest 0.00068 ± 0.00019 μg m−2 s−1 in January. The spring season had the highest mean dry deposition flux of hydrophilic BC, followed by summer and winter, whereas autumn showed relatively weaker dry deposition flux. The mean dry deposition velocities of hydrophilic BC over the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Tibet Plateau were estimated to be 0.00042 ± 0.00004, 0.00042 ± 0.00004, 0.00051 ± 0.00006 and 0.00078 ± 0.00005 m s−1, respectively. The monthly and seasonal patterns of dry deposition velocities of hydrophilic BC differed from each other in different regions, and high air temperature or surface wind speed seemed to fortify dry deposition velocities of hydrophilic BC. • Food reward is a contributing factor to eating disorders and obesity. • Meal-induced changes in fNIRS activation were associated with food reward (LFPQ-CH) • fNIRS combined with LFPQ-CH predicted food intake and eating behaviour traits. • LFPQ-CH with fNIRS are valid complementary tools for food reward in Chinese adults. Adverse neurobehavioral responses to food could be one of the contributing factors to obesity in China, which is a major public health issue. There is a need for methodologies to better understand the cognitive processes and neural mechanisms underlying eating behaviors. This study investigated neurobehavioral markers of food preference and reward in pre- and post-meal states, and their association with eating behaviors in young Chinese adults. Chinese adults (N = 80: 39 male) completed the Leeds Food Preference Questionnaire (LFPQ-CH), and a Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) Visual Food Cues Paradigm before and after an ad libitum test meal. The Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire (DEBQ) and VAS appetite scores were used to measure appetitive traits and states. Results showed that categorisation of foods along dimensions of sweetness and fat content were valid for the general population in China. Changes in food preferences and increased dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) activation to high-fat savoury (HFSA) food were shown following a test meal. LFPQ-CH and fNIRS variables were able to predict unique variance in ad libitum food intake and DEBQ traits. The current results support the use of LFPQ-CH with fNIRS as valid and complementary tools for the neurobehavioral evaluation of food reward and preference. Influences of meteorological factors on the carbon fluxes of a forest ecosystem can vary with time scales. While many studies were made on daily to annual variations of measured carbon flux of forest ecosystems, few were conducted on the variations of observed carbon fluxes over longer (decadal or more) time scale. This study quantified the influences of meteorological variables on the measured carbon fluxes in a Quercus variabilis plantation from 2006 to 2021 using principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis (CA). PCA was used to identify the most important meteorological variables. They are monthly mean daily maximum global radiation (Rg), monthly effective accumulated temperature (Tac), monthly mean daily maximum vapor pressure deficit (VPD), and monthly precipitation (PP). CA was used to group 192 observed months into four groups based on those four meteorological variables and their effects on the observed carbon fluxes. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was then used to quantify the relative importance and direct or indirect effects of those four meteorological factors on carbon fluxes at the interannual timescale in each of the four groups. The results showed that air temperature had dominant influence on net ecosystem productivity (NEP) and ecosystem respiration (Re) with its relative importance measured by standardized coefficients (SC) of 0.59 and 0.97, respectively. PP directly impacted gross primary production (GPP) with an SC of 0.40 and indirectly influenced NEP and Re. The importance of a given meteorological factor on carbon fluxes and the dominant meteorological factors varied among the four groups. Tac mainly influenced Re with a SC of 0.79 in Group 1 (the nongrowing season). The direct effects of PP on NEP and GPP and indirect effects on Re were most prominent in Group 2 (the transition stage between the nongrowing season and the growing season). Tac and PP had greater influences than other two variables in Group 3 (the transitional stage of early growth and vigorous growth and the transitional stage of steady growth and dormant period). NEP increased with Tac, while excessive rainy weather accompanied by a decrease in temperature and radiation reduced Re and GPP in Group 4 (the wet season). The short-term seasonal droughts with warm air temperatures but little precipitation (mainly in June) led to significant reductions in both GPP and NEP of the Quercus variabilis plantation ecosystem in the warm-temperate continental monsoon climate zone. Purpose. Psychological resilience plays an important role in relieving the psychological distress. However, little is known about its underlying mechanisms. Mental health literacy, an important way to promote mental health, may mediate the effect of psychological resilience on psychological distress. This study aimed to explore the relationship between mental health literacy, psychological resilience, and psychological distress and explore the mediating effect between psychological resilience and psychological distress. Design and Methods. A cross-sectional study design was used. A total of 627 medical students were selected from one university. An electronic questionnaire was administered to collect information on the level of mental health literacy, psychological resilience, and psychological distress. Pearson's correlation analysis was used in analyzing the relationship, and the Bootstrap method was used to test the mediating effects. Findings. Psychological distress significantly negatively correlated with mental health literacy and psychological resilience (P < 0.001). The indirect effect of mental health literacy accounted for 50.43% of the total effect between psychological resilience and psychological distress. Practical Implication. Psychological resilience decreased the level of psychological distress, and this relationship was partially mediated by mental health literacy. These findings showed that efforts aimed at enhancing the mental health literacy may prevent or reduce the prevalence of psychological distress symptoms among college students. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the Gekko coil system in treating intracranial aneurysms (IAs) in clinical practice. A prospective multicenter randomized open-label parallel positive control noninferiority trial was conducted by 11 centers in China. Patients with a target IA were randomized 1:1 to coiling with either Gekko or Axium coils. The primary outcome was successful aneurysm occlusion at 6 months postoperative follow-up, whereas the secondary outcomes included the successful occlusion aneurysm rate in the immediate postoperative period, recanalization rate at the 6 months follow-up, and technical success and security. Between May 2018 and September 2020, 256 patients were enrolled and randomized. Per-protocol analysis showed that the successful aneurysm occlusion rate at 6 months was 96.08% for the Gekko coil group compared with 96.12% in the Axium coil group, with a difference of –0.04% (P = 0.877). The successful immediate aneurysm occlusion rates were 86.00% and 77.45% in the Gekko coil group and the Axium coil group, respectively, showing no significant difference between the 2 groups (P = 0.116), whereas the recanalization rates during the 6 months follow-up were 2.02% and 1.96% in the Gekko and Axium coil groups, respectively, which was not statistically significant (P = 1.000). This trial showed that the Gekko coil system was noninferior to the Axium coil system in terms of efficacy and safety for IA embolization. Background: Returning to work (RTW) has always been regarded as one of the important indicators to evaluate the therapeutic effect of patients with schizophrenia. The existing studies on RTW in patients with schizophrenia are mostly focused on intervention measures, and the qualitative research on RTW is very limited. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the experience of the RTW after treatment in patients with schizophrenia. Method: A longitudinal qualitative study was conducted involving 24 patients with schizophrenia in China. The interviews were held at three time-points during their RTW process, (1) when patients had improved and were close to discharge, (2) within 1 month post-discharge, and (3) 6 months post-discharge. The interview recordings were transcribed by the research team, and transcripts were independently analyzed by two independent coders using reflexive thematic analysis. Results: A total of 24 patients with schizophrenia participated in 72 personal interviews. The thematic framework based on the experience of patients with schizophrenia reveals a three-phases of the process of RTW: improved, being at a loss, and job crisis. The study identified one theme of the first phase: the expectation and optimism. Two themes in the second phase: (1) psychological distress of upcoming work; (2) expectation of assistance pre-work. And four themes in the third phase: (1) tremendous pressure of RTW; (2) lack of medical and social support; (3) social status and interpersonal relationships change; and (4) high level of financial pressure. Conclusion: The experience of RTW is a dynamic process with great challenges in each phase, patients with schizophrenia have been deeply affected by what they have experienced. There is an urgent need to ensure that existing community and social support is integrated into daily care to support patients with schizophrenia to RTW successful. The findings of this study also suggest relevant departments and employers should be aware of the barriers to RTW for patients with schizophrenia, and take certain measures to change the current situation. Objectives: The molecular characteristics of oral lichen planus (OLP) are still unclear, and it is not possible to distinguish the clinical outcome of OLP patients in a short period of time for follow‐up. Here, we investigate the molecular characteristics of lesions in patients with stable lichen planus (SOLP) and recalcitrant erosive oral lichen planus (REOLP). Methods: Our clinical follow‐up cohort was split into SOLP and REOLP groups based on the follow‐up clinical data. The core modules associated with the clinical information were identified by weighted gene co‐expression network analysis (WGCNA). The OLP cohort samples were divided into two groups by molecular typing, and a prediction model for OLP was created by training neural networks with the neuralnet package. Results: We screened 546 genes in five modules. After doing a molecular type of OLP, it was determined that B cells might have a significant impact on the clinical outcome of OLP. In addition, by means of machine learning, a prediction model was developed to predict the clinical regression of OLP with greater accuracy than the existing clinical diagnostic. Pregnancy is not recommended for patients with severe pulmonary hypertension (PH) due to the significant risks it poses to both the mother and fetus. The objective of this study is to describe the maternal-fetal outcomes in pregnant women with PH and identify the factors that influence these outcomes. This retrospective study analyzed clinical data from 25 patients with severe PH who were admitted to our hospital between January 2018 and December 2022. The data we used came from a public general hospital in Fujian Province. The mean systolic pulmonary artery pressure (sPAP) of 25 patients was 105.12 ± 22.70 mmHg. All patients had received one or more multidisciplinary team (MDT) treatments before terminating their pregnancies. Among the pregnant women, four experienced a pulmonary hypertensive crisis (PHC), seven had heart failure, and one had postpartum hemorrhage (PPH). Among them, seven (28%) pregnant women died primarily due to heart failure and PHC. Among the fetal outcomes, twelve resulted in therapeutic abortion, and eleven resulted in preterm birth. Among the perinatal complications, eleven infants (84.6%) were born prematurely, six infants (46.2%) experienced neonatal asphyxia, eight infants (61.5%) had low birth weight, and two infants (15.4%) died during the perinatal period. According to the etiology, seven individuals had idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (iPAH), ten had pulmonary arterial hypertension associated with congenital heart disease (CHD-PAH), six had pulmonary hypertension associated with left heart disease (LDH-PH), and two had pulmonary arterial hypertension caused by other diseases (oPAH). The sPAP levels of iPAH and CHD-PAH were significantly higher than those of LDH-PH and oPAH (p < 0.05). Additionally, the gestational weeks of LDH-PH were higher than those of iPAH (p < 0.05). The number of patients with New York Heart Association (NYHA) heart function grade III-V was higher in the death group compared to the non-death group (p < 0.05). Pregnancy in women with severe PH carries a high risk of mortality. Therefore, contraception is strongly recommended for these women. Eddy covariance (EC) and biometric (based on tree diameter and tree ring measurements) methods are used extensively to estimate annual variability in forest productivity. Many previous studies obtained inconsistent findings between net ecosystem productivity (NEP) based on EC (NEP EC) and tree biomass growth based on biometric methods, partly because of delayed responses in trees due to temporary non-structural carbohydrate (NSC) storage. Direct measurement of the amount of NSCs stored in trees is challenging; however, using carbon (C) isotope ratios in different tree components is considered an indirect and effective alternative approach for assessing NSC dynamics. We measured stable C isotope ratios in earlywood (EW) and latewood (LW) of rings of 70 trees (categorized as 4–10, 10–20, and > 20 cm diameter at breast height [DBH]) to test relationships between trunk-growth NEP EC time series and annual tree biomass growth (based on tree ring width) in a young mixed forest in northern China over 13 years. Our results revealed a strong correlation (r = 0.691) between trunk-growth NEP EC (March–August in a calendar year) and tree biomass growth. The change in correlation between current-year EW δ13C and LW δ13C of the previous year observed in trees with 10–20 cm DBH, which accounted for 51.8% of the total tree biomass growth, was consistent with the synchronicity of trunk-growth NEP EC and tree biomass growth. Colder early growing seasons, which significantly increase the reliance of early-season structural growth on stored labile C accumulated in the previous year, may lead to postponed tree biomass growth responses related to NEP EC. In conclusion, this approach, investigating C isotope analysis in EW and LW, helps elucidate the relationships between tree biomass growth and stand-level C fluxes in forest sites. Radiation fog episodes are characterized by aerosol radiative properties measured at Hefei in urban central China, which hopefully benefits numerical weather prediction and air quality improvement for local governments. In this study, a high mean aerosol optical depth (AOD) is seen over Hefei during the sampling period, whereas an AOD of ~3.0 at 550 nm is observed during the fog episodes. We redefine the fog scavenging coefficient based on its starting and ending points in time, and a black carbon (BC) scavenging coefficient of 30% is observed. Meanwhile, the fog process cannot reduce aerosol number concentrations at size bins between 0.5 and 0.6 μm, whereas a mean particle scavenging coefficient of 21% at sizes within 0.6–1 μm is seen. Significantly large median aerosol scattering coefficient (2690 Mm−1) and absorption coefficient (446 Mm−1) at 550 nm, and low scattering Angstrom exponent in fog are observed, while distinctive particle size distributions between fog and haze are shown. Particle mean size distribution in fog is lower than that in haze at size bins between 0.7 and 2.1 μm, whereas the reverse is true for sizes within 0.5–0.7 μm and larger than 2.1 μm. Aerosol scattering during fog episodes undergoes a bigger increase than particle absorption, and this increase of scattering in fog is even higher than in haze. Median single scattering albedos of 0.86, 0.82, and 0.76 at 550 nm and aerosol radiative forcing efficiencies of −15.0, −14.0, and −10.0 W/m2 are seen for fog, haze and clear periods, respectively, and more negative radiative forcing efficiency emphasizes the significance of fog episodes on climate forcing. Our study clearly reveals the changes of aerosol radiative properties during radiation fog, particularly a synchronous variation of fog aerosol backscattering ratio with the visibility, indicating that more large particles are formed with fog becoming thicker and are scavenged with the dissipation of fog. Accurate and error-free digital elevation model (DEM) data are a basic guarantee for the safe flight of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) during surveys in the wild, especially in moun-tainous areas with large topographic undulations. Existing free and open-source DEM data gen-erally cover large areas, with relatively high spatial resolutions (~90, 30, and even 12.5 m), but they do not have the advantage of timeliness and cannot accurately reflect current and up-to-date topographical information in the survey area. UAV pre-scanning missions can provide highly accurate and recent terrain data as a reference for UAV route planning and ensure security for subsequent aerial survey missions; however, they are time consuming. In addition, being limited to the electric charge of the UAV, pre-scanning increases the human, financial, and time consumption of field missions, and it is not applicable for field aerial survey missions in reality, unless otherwise specified, especially in harsh environments. In this paper, we used interferometric synthetic aper-ture radar (InSAR) technology to process Sentinel-1a data to obtain the DEMs of the survey area, which were used for route planning, and other free and open-source DEMs were also used for flightline plans. The digital surface models (DSMs) were obtained from the structure of the UAV pre-scan mission images, applying structure for motion (SfM) technology as the elevation reference. Comparing the errors between the InSAR-derived DEMs and the four open-source DEMs based on the reference DSM to analyze the practicability of flight route planning, the results showed that among the four DEMs, the SRTM DEM with a spatial resolution of 30 m performed best, which was considered as the first reference for UAV route plans when the survey area in complex mountainous regions is covered with a poor or inoperative network. The InSAR-derived DEMs from the Sentinel-1 images have great potential value for UAV flight planning, with a large perpendicular baseline and short temporal baseline. This work quantitatively analyzed the errors among the different DEMs and provided a discussion regarding UAV flightline plans based on external DEMs. This can not only effectively reduce the manpower, materials, and time consumption of field operations, improving the efficiency of UAV survey tasks, but it also broadens the use of InSAR technology. Furthermore, with the launch of high-resolution SAR satellites, InSAR-derived DEMs with high spatial and temporal resolutions provide an optimistic and credible strategy for UAV route planning with small errors. The red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii) is an important aquatic animal and has developed as a popular aquaculture species in China. In this study, a total of 72,839 SSR motifs were identified from transcriptional data, and 20 microsatellite markers of them were finally developed to assess the genetic diversities of seven wild populations from natural lakes and nine cultured populations from rice fields. Genetic diversity was slightly higher in the cultured populations than in the wild populations. The degree of genetic differentiation between cultured populations is slight, while a moderate to a large degree of genetic differentiation between wild populations and most of the variations occurred within individuals (79%). The analysis of cluster, principal coordinate analysis and STRUCTURE were similar, and they showed that isolation-by-distance pattern was not significant. The microsatellite markers developed in this study can not only be used for genetic monitoring of population but also provide important information for the management of breeding and cultured population in red swamp crayfish. Mandarin fish (Siniperca chuatsi) is one of the most economically important aquaculture species in China. Mandarin fish aquaculture has experienced major losses in the past few decades because of outbreaks of infectious spleen and kidney necrosis virus (ISKNV). Little is known about the immune mechanism of pathogenetic and resistant mandarin fish infected with ISKNV. Here, the transcriptome and proteome of the spleen of mandarin fish on the 8th day after ISKNV infection were analyzed using Illumina NovaSeq 6000 and isobaric tag for relative and absolute quantitation. Histology was observed by staining with hematoxylin and eosin. ISKNV loads were markedly higher in pathogenetic fish than in resistant fish. Serious tissue injury and inflammation were observed in the spleen tissue of pathogenetic fish. A total of 4667 and 3417 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), 258 and 54 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs), and 45 and 7 cor-DEGs-DEPs (i.e., correlation differentially expressed genes and proteins) were identified in pathogenetic fish and resistant fish, respectively. The DEGs were specifically enriched in the FcεRI signaling pathway in resistant fish; the up-regulated genes Rac (Rac1) , FcεRIγ , TNFα , and IgE and the down-regulated genes 5-LO and SHIP might play a positive immune-regulatory role in anti-inflammation, resistance to pathogen infection, cytokine expression, and the generation of immune cells. In pathogenetic fish, DEGs and DEPs were specifically enriched in the natural killer cell-mediated cytotoxicity pathway, and the up-regulated genes Fyn and Shc might exacerbate tissue inflammation and inhibit NK cell-mediated cytotoxic pathways; the down-regulated protein perforin and up-regulated protein granzyme might inhibit the penetration of effector proteins and thus their ability to mediate the programmed cell death of ISKNV-infected target cells. The up-regulated cor-DEGs-DEPs BF, C8, and PLG were specifically enriched in the complement and coagulation cascade pathway, and the down-regulated cor-DEGs-DEPs p120ctn and MLC were specifically enriched in the leukocyte transepithelial migration pathway, which might inhibit complement cascade function, accelerate viral infection, and result in an excessive inflammatory effect. A new species of adpressed marattialean fern with vegetative and fertile pinnules, Pectinangium xuanweiense sp. nov., is described from the Lopingian (upper Permian) in eastern Yunnan and western Guizhou provinces, Southwest China. The fronds of this new species are at least bipinnate, with linear to lanceolate ultimate pinnae. The pinnules are alternately arranged and pecopterid-type with pinnate venation. Fertile pinnules show recurved margins and abaxially bear a row of synangia on each side of the midvein. Synangia are 0.7 mm long and 0.4 mm wide on average, arranged in a density of approximately 16 per centimeter. Each synangium consists of four sporangia that are completely fused in well-regulated rectangular/ovoid shapes in the distal view. Sporangia are exannulate, 370 μm long and 200 μm wide on average. The sporangial walls are composed of at least three layers of elongated rectangular to polygonal cells. In situ spores are circular to oval, 25–(30)–35 μm in diameter, with trilete marks and microverrucate sculptures. Ultrastructural investigations indicated that the exine encompasses a perine, sexine, and nexine. Both the total amount and annual growth rate of Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients in China are much higher than in other regions in the world. This trend of rapid growth will be difficult to change in the next few decades, hence the prevention and treatment situation of AD patients in China is more severe. Maintaining the balance between the production and removal pathways of Aβ is an important guarantee for the body to maintain its normal physiological state. The dysfunction of Aβ clearance is an important factor of Aβ accumulation in brain tissue of AD patients causing neurotoxicity of synaptic damage and neuronal death. Based on the literature review, it introduced the important role of microglias in clearing Aβ deposits in the process of Alzheimer's disease. And most of these phagocytic cells were the specific phenotype of disease-related microglia (DAM-I/DAM-II) that induced microglial differentiation after activation. IL-10KO promoted the transformation of microglial phenotype DAM-II, and enhanced its phagocytosis for Aβ oligomers. There is a hypothesis that IL-10R/STAT3 negatively regulates microglial phagocytosis. It was learnt that blocking the IL-10R/STAT3 pathway promoted microglial activation and enhanced phagocytosis. Background: Toxoplasma gondii and Neospora caninum are closely related protozoan parasites that are considered important causes of abortion in livestock, causing huge economic losses. Hunan Province ranks 12th in the production of beef and mutton in China. However, limited data are available on the seroprevalence, risk factors and molecular characterization of T. gondii and N. caninum in beef cattle and goats in Hunan province, China. Methods: Sera of 985 beef cattle and 1147 goats were examined for the presence of specific antibodies against T. gondii using indirect hemagglutination test (IHAT) and anti-N. caninum IgG using competitive-inhibition enzyme-linked immunoassay assay (cELISA). Statistical analysis of possible risk factors was performed using PASW Statistics. Muscle samples of 160 beef cattle and 160 goats were examined for the presence of T. gondii DNA (B1 gene) and N. caninum DNA (Nc-5 gene) by nested PCR. The B1 gene-positive samples were genotyped at 10 genetic markers using the multilocus nested PCR-RFLP (Mn-PCR-RFLP). Results: Specific IgG against T. gondii were detected in 8.3% (82/985) and 13.3% (153/1147) and against N. caninum in 2.1% (21/985) and 2.0% (23/1147) of the beef cattle and goats, respectively. Based on statistical analysis, the presence of cats, semi-intensive management mode and gender were identified as significant risk factors for T. gondii infection in beef cattle. Age was a significant risk factor for T. gondii infection in goats (P < 0.05), and age > 3 years was a significant risk factor for N. caninum infection in beef cattle (P < 0.05). PCR positivity for T. gondii was observed in three beef samples (1.9%; 3/160) and seven chevon samples (4.4%; 7/160). Genotyping of PCR positive samples identified one to be ToxoDB#10. The N. caninum DNA was observed in one beef sample (0.6%; 1/160) but was negative in all chevon samples. Conclusions: To our knowledge, this is the first large-scale serological and molecular investigation of T. gondii and N. caninum and assessment of related risk factors in beef cattle and goats in Hunan Province, China. The Lopingian (upper Permian) in Southwest China yields diverse marattialean plants; however, most of these have been recorded as isolated fragments of fronds, pinnules, and stems. Marattialean Qasimia specimens were recently collected from the upper Permian Xuanwei Formation of Yunnan Province, Southwest China. The well-preserved synangia, sporangia, and prominent in situ spores permitted the emendation of the genus Qasimia and the establishment of the species Q. yunnanica sp. nov. This plant possesses alternately or sub-oppositely arranged fertile pinnules with abaxially attached synangia. The synangia are sessile and bivalvate, with a length nearly half the width of the pinnules. A synangium valve consists of approximately 20 long ellipsoids and laterally fused sporangia. In situ spores of the Punctatosporites type are monolete, 97 × 74 μm on average, with a microverrucate/microgranulate to vermiculate sculpture; these represent the largest in situ spores of this type. The sporangial wall has at least two layers of polygonal/elongated cells. The exine comprises a perine, sexine, and nexine. The characteristics of the marattialeans with bilaterally symmetrical synangia were analyzed based on a comparison of eight related genera in the late Paleozoic and Marattia after the late Paleozoic. The Qasimia -type synangium represents the earliest occurrence of bivalvate synangium, which is a typical feature of modern marattialeans. Although the origin of the bilaterally symmetrical marattialean synangia remains elusive, marattialeans with this type of synangia first appeared in the Euramerica during the late Carboniferous and then migrated to the Cathaysia, where they became more prosperous until the late Permian. • Marattialean fern Qasimia yunnanica sp. nov. is described from the Lopingian of China. • Qasimia yunnanica sp. nov. has the largest in situ spores among Paleozoic marattialeans. • An evolutionary trend of bilateral synangia is evident in late Paleozoic marattialeans. With the intensive development of animal husbandry, the demand for feed soybean meal increases. In order to promote the development of animal husbandry and ensure the supply and quality safety of feed in China, it is necessary to reduce the proportion of soybean meal and increase the development of protein feed resources and the supply of highquality feed. Cottonseed meal has high protein content, and the vitamin content is similar to that of soybean meal. Compared with soybean meal, cottonseed meal has a wide range of sources and is more affordable. However, cottonseed meal contains gossypol, which limits its application in animal production. Therefore, the dephenolization technology of cottonseed meal, the application of cottonseed meal instead of soybean meal in animal production and matters needing attention are summarized in the paper, which provides a reference for resource utilization of cottonseed meal, reducing livestock and poultry breeding cost and improving animal product quality. Quartz deposits are widely dispersed in nature, but the presence of ore bodies capable of yielding high-purity quartz is exceedingly rare. As a result, the effective purification and processing of high-purity quartz from natural siliceous materials has emerged as a prominent area of research within the non-metallic mineral processing field. This article offers an overview of the current state of research and its limitations in quartz purification and processing technology in China, including the characteristics of quartz mineral resources, the geological origins of ore deposits, impurity forms in ores, and purification techniques. Drawing from examples of five distinct types of quartz ores—vein quartz, powder quartz, quartzite, granitic pegmatite, and pegmatitic granite—we delve into the inherent properties of quartz deposits, ores, and minerals from a mineralogical perspective, establishing their link to purification and processing methodologies. A fundamental challenge restraining the advancement of the high-purity quartz industry is the absence of criteria for evaluating and selecting high-purity quartz raw materials. Existing purification technologies grapple with issues such as intricate single mineral liberation, substantial acid consumption, high energy requirements, and protracted processing procedures. The lack of mineralogically based deep purification techniques presents a hurdle to the development of the high-purity quartz industry. Given the diversity of ore types, the pursuit of knowledge-driven design and the development of economically efficient, environmentally friendly, and streamlined new technologies for tackling the complexities of the purification process may constitute the future direction of our endeavors. Bridge influence lines (BILs) and bridge influence surfaces (BISs) are inherent static parameters of bridges which can be extracted from moving vehicle-induced bridge responses. Compared with dynamic parameters, these parameters are directly related to the stiffness and internal forces in each cross-section of a bridge therefore can be considered as an effective bridge metamodel. To accelerate the engineering practice of BIL- and BIS-based bridge evaluation, this paper first briefly reviews the current BIL and BIS field test and identification methods. Then, the bridge evaluation guidelines of China and the United States are introduced as the basis of the evaluation methods. Engineering application scenarios for bridge evaluation, including permit load verification, performance degradation checking, and load carrying capacity evaluation, are summarized, and a multiple-scenario bridge evaluation method is established. At the end of this paper, an evaluation example of a four-span continuous bridge is presented to illustrate the application procedure and verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. The outcomes of this paper provide a promising application method of field test BILs and BISs, which may help bridge engineers more effectively use these parameters in engineering practice. Background: Patients with schizophrenia in rural areas of China face severe delays in getting appropriate treatment due to poverty, transportation, and limited availability of mental healthcare services. However, the experiences of care-seeking among patients with delayed diagnosis and treatment in rural areas remain poorly understood, and it remains unclear how these experiences influence patients' medical mistrust or expectations of care. This study aims to fill that void. Methods: We applied a qualitative phenomenological method. Patients were recruited through purposive sampling at a psychiatric hospital in Harbin, China. Semi-structured, one-to-one interviews were conducted, guided by an interview outline. Thematic analysis was performed using Colaizzi's seven-step method. Results: Data saturation was achieved after interviewing 13 participants aged 21 to 53 years. Three themes with eight subthemes were identified: (i) Barriers to seeking care, (ii) Feelings for psychiatric treatment, and (iii) Demand for mental healthcare. Several factors that may impede the timely diagnosis and treatment were identified, including patients, physicians, and institutions. The participants described their feelings of adverse treatment experiences, as well as expectations arising from this process. It predominantly covers awareness of the disease, supportive access to care, and geographic accessibility of services. Conclusion: Patients with delayed diagnosis and treatment in rural areas often have negative experiences and various needs for mental health services in the pursuit of effective treatments. Policymakers and health planners should seriously consider the current challenges in rural mental healthcare to develop comprehensive strategies for improving prehospital delays and medical experience for this group of patients. Background: Patients suffering from schizophrenia are at a higher risk of relapse. The perception of the risk of relapse in patients is critical for relapse prevention. In the field of psychiatry, the study of risk perception of relapse has been neglected. Methods: We carried out a qualitative study using a descriptive phenomenological approach. Data were collected at two psychiatric hospitals in China. In total, 22 patients with schizophrenia were recruited through purposive sampling. Face to face semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted. Interview recordings were transcribed by the research team, and transcripts were analysed by two independent coders with Colaizzi's descriptive analysis framework. The consolidated criteria for reporting qualitative research checklist were used for reporting. Results: The data of first-episode patients yielded three themes: (i) lack of knowledge about disease recognition and medical treatment; (ii) overoptimistic estimation of the risk of relapse; (iii) perceived importance of treatment. For first-relapse patients : (i) initial awareness of relapse warning signs; (ii) lack of systematic and accurate assessment of disease information; (iii) the perception that drug withdrawal is related to relapse. Patients with multiple relapses: (i) susceptibility to relapse: confusion and powerlessness; (ii) the severity of relapse: suicidal thoughts and behavior; (iii) effects of perceived benefits and barriers of medication behaviour. Conclusions: In schizophrenic patients with first-episode, first-relapse, and multiple relapses, there were dynamic changes in the perception of disease relapse risk and medication behaviour. Medical workers must improve risk awareness education. Against the background of global warming, permafrost areas are facing increasing thawing, and the threat to the surface of the Qinghai–Tibet Engineering Corridor (QTEC) is serious. It is imperative to understand the current surface deformation and analyze the changes spatiotemporal characteristics for future warnings. At present, observation of a long time series and overall coverage of vertical ground deformation in QTEC are lacking. This paper takes the permafrost deformation of the QTEC as its research object. It uses the pretreated LiCSAR product and combines it with the LiCSBAS package to obtain monitoring results of the long time series deformation of the engineering corridor's surface. The SAR image acquisition date is taken as the constraint, the results covering the whole processing area are selected, and then the vertical deformation information covering the entire engineering corridor area by ignoring the north–south displacement is calculated. The results show that the surface of the study area, as a whole, slightly subsided between May 2017 and March 2022, and the vertical deformation rate was mostly distributed at −27.068 mm/yr − 18.586 mm/yr, with an average of −1.06 mm/yr. Vertical deformation dominated at 52.84 percent of the study area, of which settlement accounted for 27.57 percent and uplift accounted for 25.27 percent. According to the statistics of the normal distribution of deformation velocity per pixel, a total of 77% of the engineering corridor was stable, with a vertical deformation rate between −6.964 mm/yr and −4.844 mm/yr, and 17.7% of the region was sub-stable, with a settling rate of −12.868 mm/yr − –6.964 mm/yr. The unstable regions included areas with settlement rates greater than 12.868 mm/yr and uplift rates greater than 10.748 mm/yr, representing 4.4 percent and 0.9 percent of the total area, respectively, for a total of 5.3 percent. The results of this paper can be used as the theoretical basis and as basic data for decision making and scientific research in various departments, and they are of great significance for surface stability assessment and early warnings along engineering corridors and traffic projects. Flax black spot was found in Ordos City in 2022, mainly infecting leaves and the exocarps, causing leaves turn yellow and brownish with black leaf tips before drying and damage, and exocarps became brown or black with a layer of black mould which significantly affected the yield and quality. The Y3 and K1 strains from infected leaves and the exocarps were the same pathogen of flax black spot which was identified as Alternaria alternata by morphological characteristics and molecular identification. In the pathogenicity test, A. alternata caused severe black spot on leaves and brown or black exocarps with mould of flax consistent with those observed in the field. The COVID-19 pandemic across Chinese mainland was gradually stabilized at a low level with sporadic outbreaks, before the emergence of Omicron variant. Apart from non-pharmacological interventions (NPIs), COVID-19 vaccine has also been implemented to prevent and control the pandemic since early 2021. Although many aspects have been focused, the change of the spatiotemporal distribution of COVID-19 epidemic across Chinese mainland responding to the change of prevention and control measures were less concerned. Here, we collected the confirmed case data (including domestic cases and overseas imported cases) across Chinese mainland during both 2020/04–2020/08 and 2021/04–2021/08, and then conducted a preliminary data comparison on the spatiotemporal distribution of confirmed cases during the identical period between the two years. Distribution patterns were evaluated both qualitatively by classification method and quantitatively through employing coefficient of variation. Results revealed significant differences in the homogeneity of spatiotemporal distributions of imported or domestic cases between the two years, indicating that the important effect of the adjustment of prevention and control measures on the epidemic evolution. The findings here enriched our practical experience of COVID-19 prevention and control. Background: Red-tail catfish (Hemibagrus wyckioides) is an important commercially farmed catfish in southern China. Males of red-tail catfish grow faster than females, suggesting that all-male catfish will produce more significant economic benefits in aquaculture practice. However, little research has been reported on sex determination and gonadal development in red-tail catfish. Results: In this study, we performed the first transcriptomic analysis of male and female gonads at four developmental stages at 10, 18, 30, and 48 days post hatching (dph) using RNA-seq technology. A total of 23,588 genes were screened in 24 sequenced samples, of which 28, 213, 636, and 1381 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were detected at four developmental stages, respectively. Seven candidate genes of sex determination and differentiation were further identified. Real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) further confirmed that anti-Mullerian hormone (amh), growth differentiation factor 6a (gdf6a), testis-specific gene antigen 10 (tsga10), and cytochrome P450 family 17 subfamily A (cyp17a) were highly expressed mainly in the male, while cytochrome P450 family 19 subfamily A polypeptide 1b (cyp19a1b), forkhead box L2 (foxl2), and hydroxysteroid 17-beta dehydrogenase 1 (hsd17b1) were highly expressed in the female. The KEGG pathway enrichment data showed that these identified DEGs were mainly involved in steroid hormone biosynthesis and TGF-β signaling pathways. Conclusions: Based on RNA-seq data of gonads at the early developmental stages, seven DEGs shared by the four developmental stages were identified, among which amh and gdf6a may be the male-biased expression genes, while foxl2, cyp19a1b and hsd17b1 may be the female-biased expression genes in red-tail catfish. Our study will provide crucial genetic information for the research on sex control in red-tail catfish, as well as for exploring the evolutionary processes of sex determination mechanisms in fish. Background: Clinical evidence of immune checkpoint inhibitors combined with antiangiogenic drugs in patients with advanced non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) was limited. Recombinant human endostatin (rh‐endostatin), an antiangiogenic drug, and camrelizumab, an anti‐PD‐1 antibody, have been approved for the treatment of advanced NSCLC in China. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of rh‐endostatin plus camrelizumab and chemotherapy in the treatment of advanced NSCLC. Methods: Eligible patients were enrolled and received camrelizumab (200 mg, day 1) every 3 weeks and continuous intravenous infusion of rh‐endostatin (70 mg/day, days 1–3) and cisplatin combined with pemetrexed (for adenocarcinoma) or paclitaxel (for NSCLC other than adenocarcinoma) every 3 weeks. Primary endpoint was progression‐free survival (PFS). Secondary endpoints were objective response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), overall survival (OS), and safety profiles. Results: Overall, 27 patients were included, and 25 patients were eligible for efficacy evaluation. For these 25 patients, ORR was 48.15% (13/27) and DCR was 85.19% (23/27). With a median follow‐up of 10.37 months, the median PFS was 8.9 (95% CI: 4.23–13.57) months. Median OS was not reached. Overall, 96.3% of patients experienced at least one treatment‐related adverse event, and grade 3 TRAEs occurred in 9 (33.3%) patients. No unexpected AEs were observed. Conclusion: Rh‐endostatin plus camrelizumab and chemotherapy showed favorable efficacy and safety profile in patients with advanced NSCLC, representing a promising treatment regimen for these patients. Background: Extensive knowledge of allergic multimorbidities is required to improve the management of allergic diseases with the industrialization of China. However, the demography and allergen distribution patterns of allergic multimorbidities in China remain unclear, despite the increasing prevalence of allergies. Methods: This was a real-world, cross-sectional study of 1273 outpatients diagnosed with one or more allergic diseases in Guangzhou, the most populated city of southern China, with leading industrial and commercial centers, between April 2021 and March 2022. Seven allergic diseases (allergic rhinitis (AR), asthma (AS)/cough variant asthma (CVA), atopic dermatitis (AD)/eczema, food allergy (FA), allergic conjunctivitis (AC), drug allergy (DA), and anaphylaxis) were assessed. Positive rates of sensitization to different allergens were measured using an allergen detection system of the UniCAP (Pharmacia Diagnostics, Sweden) instrument platform to compare the groups of allergic multimorbidities against a single entity. Results: There were 659 (51.8%) males and 614 (48.2%) females aged from 4 months to 74 years included in the analysis. The study participants who were diagnosed with allergic diseases had an average of 1.6 diagnoses. Overall, 46.5% (592 of 1273) of the patients had more than one allergic condition, and allergic rhinitis was the most common type of multimorbidity. Women were more likely to suffer from an allergic disease alone, whereas allergic multimorbidities were more likely to be diagnosed in men (p = 0.005). In addition, allergic multimorbidities were common in all age groups, with an incidence ranging from 37.1% to 57.4%, in which children and adolescents were more frequently diagnosed with allergic multimorbidities than adults (18–60 years old) (all p < 0.05). Allergic multimorbidity was observed throughout the year. A difference in the positive rate of allergens sensitization and total immunoglobulin E (tIgE) levels between different allergic multimorbidities was observed. Conclusions: Allergic multimorbidities were very commonly found in nearly half of all patients with allergies. The proportion of allergic multimorbidities varied with the type of disease, sex, age, and allergen distribution pattern. Background: Sexual health is one of the main areas of health and basic human rights which has been paid less attention in schizophrenia. Most studies have focused on sexual dysfunction rather than the sexual needs of people with schizophrenia. This study explores the sexual needs of people with schizophrenia and identify factors hindering sexual activities. Methods: We carried out a qualitative study using a descriptive phenomenological approach. Data were collected at a psychiatric hospital in China. In total, 20 patients with schizophrenia were recruited through purposive sampling. Face to face semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with them. Interview recordings were transcribed by the research team, and transcripts were analyzed by two independent coders with Colaizzi's descriptive analysis framework by using NVivo 11 software. The consolidated criteria for reporting qualitative research checklist was used for reporting. Results: The data analysis revealed 10 subthemes categorized into 3 macro themes: (1) multiple barriers hinder sexual activity; (2) significance of sex; and (3) conditions for fulfilling sexual needs. Conclusion: A poor sexual quality of life may be found in patients with schizophrenia. Furthermore, people with schizophrenia did not lose interest in maintaining an active sex life. Permafrost is a significant part of the cryosphere, which has gained increasing attention from scientists, policy-makers, and the general public due to global warming, environmental degradation, water shortages, and intense human activities. Although many permafrost research review articles have been published, these studies were predominantly limited to either one subject or one field, while systematic studies about permafrost based on bibliometric analysis methods remain limited. We aim to fill this gap by conducting a bibliometric analysis of 13,697 articles in the field of permafrost research from 1942 to 2021, collected from the Web of Science core collection database. The results indicate that permafrost research is a typically multi-author, multi-country, and multi-institution cooperative field, involved in many research fields. The cumulative number of publications has presented an exponential increase over the past 80 years, with an average annual growth rate of 10.40%. Since 2000, China has seen a rapid growth in the number of publications per year, surpassing the USA in 2016 and leading in the years since then. In addition, the authors from China have great contributions in publications, and there is good room for permafrost development in the future according to the authors' M-index ranking. After the analysis of authors' keywords, we found that, compared to the conventional methods, machine learning and interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) are new technological approaches introduced in recent years, and the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau has become a popular study area. The results presented here can help related researchers, scholars, and students in the field to better understand the past developments, current status, and future trends of permafrost research. Furthermore, this paper presents and expands the general process of the bibliometric method used in permafrost studies, which can provide researchers with new inspirations and improve discipline research approach.
