Under the dual policy targets of carbon emission peaking (CEP) and industrial green transformation (IGT) in China, where a top-down policy implementation is usually adopted, a more integrative planning mode needs to be constructed for greening industrial development. This paper proposes a technical framework to tackle the weakness faced when integrating IGT-associated issues with CEP factors during the development of IGT options, with an application in the Hohhot–Baotou–Ordos–Yulin (HBOY) city cluster. A CEP-IGT model was built to portray the effects of seven selected indicators on industrial carbon emissions, and help develop six options by defining the transformation strengths of HBOY's energy-intensive industrial system. Particularly, the CEP times and volumes were employed as the criteria for evaluating the IGT options. We found that the regional CEP goal will not be accomplished by even 2035 under the business-as-usual scenario. To halt the emission growth trend will rely much on the structural factors of energy mix and industrial output, which were also determinants of the IGT performance. Option 3, representing a moderate level transformation, was the preferred IGT plan, reaching a peak volume of 255.27 MtCO 2 eq·a−1 in 2026. The preferred plan will result in the replacement of at least 14% of the coal used in thermal power by renewable energy, and an increase in industrial coal-use efficiency by 32.02%. Policy measures need to be implemented to cap the total industrial coal consumption to no more than 2494 Mt and sustain an industrial growth by developing lower-energy or carbon-intensive industries. By 2030, the intensity and volume of industrial carbon emissions will reach 1.89 tCO 2 eq·10,000 CNY−1 and 224.85 MtCO 2 eq·a−1, respectively. This CEP-IGT progress will benefit the goal of being carbon neutral. • Both infant attention at 4 months and maternal sensitivity at 14 months were associated with infant working memory and inhibition at 14 months. • Contributions of precursors (4-month infant attention, maternal and paternal sensitivity) of early cognitive abilities were similar across the Netherlands and China. • The predictive effect of maternal sensitivity on infant working memory was stronger than that of paternal sensitivity which was nonsignificant. • The predictive effect of maternal sensitivity on infant was inhibition significant, whereas the effect of paternal sensitivity was not. Infant attention and parental sensitivity are important predictors of later child executive function (EF). However, most studies have investigated infant and parent factors in relation to child EF separately and included only mothers from Western samples. The current study examined whether both infant attention at 4 months and parental sensitivity at 4 and 14 months were related to infant EF (i.e., inhibition, working memory, and cognitive flexibility) at 14 months among 124 Dutch and 63 Chinese first-time mothers and fathers and their infants. Findings revealed that parental sensitivity at 4 months was not correlated with infant EF abilities at 14 months. However, infant attention at 4 months was significantly related to 14-month working memory, but not to inhibition and cognitive flexibility. Maternal sensitivity at 14 months was significantly related to 14-month inhibition, but not to working memory and cognitive flexibility. No country differences were found in the relation among 4-month infant attention, parental sensitivity, and EF outcomes. Results show that both infant and parent factors are associated with early EF development and that these correlates of early EF skills may be similar in Western and non-Western samples. The emergence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in animals is an increasing concern for the agriculture and public health. A four-years (2016) successional study was conducted to investigate the antimicrobial resistant profiles and molecular characterizations of the livestock-associated MRSA (LA-MRSA) from animal farms or slaughterhouses in Chongqing, China. A total of 1667 samples were collected from 2013 to 2016 in different animal farms and hog markets. LA-MRSA were isolated and subjected to antimicrobial susceptibility testing and whole genome sequencing (WGS). S. aureus was detected at a ratio of 3.7% (n = 62), in which 18 isolates were identified as MRSA. All the S. aureus isolates were multidrug-resistant (MDR) with the resistance to at least four drugs; however, none of those isolates was resistant to linezolid, vancomycin, or nitrofurantoin. The resistance was more obvious in the pig-associated S. aureus isolates than the strains associated with chickens or cows. The majority of multilocus sequence typing (MLST) types of the MRSA isolates were ST239, subsequently ST59, ST9, and ST630. Among these isolates, 18 MRSA possessed SCC mec type Ⅲ (n = 10), Ⅳa (n = 4), Ⅻ (n = 3) and Ⅴ(n = 1). Multiple spa types were also detected in the isolates, such as 899, 437, 30, 421, 969, 37, and 4549. Large-scale afforestation can combat desertification, provide ecosystem services, and mitigate climate change. However, it can also have negative effects on the hydrological cycle and water budget, and thus on water security in dryland regions depending on the afforestation strategy used. Currently, the effects of different afforestation strategies on soil moisture dynamics, evapotranspiration (ET), and water budget at the stand scale are unclear. In this study, we investigated the water budget in two poplar stands, one planted using a low-coverage-mode shelterbelt (LCMS) strategy and the other planted using a conventional strategy (control). Deep drainage (DP), as an indicator of water budget, was estimated using a Hydrus-1D model calibrated with the observed soil moisture at different soil depths (across 0–200 cm) during the growing seasons in 2016, 2017, and 2019. The average DP in the LCMS stand was 107.0–149.6 mm, accounting for 36.5–42.4% of the rainfall occurring during the growing seasons, which was slightly higher than that in the control stand containing younger trees at a higher density. However, DP was more spatially heterogenous in the LCMS stand compared with in the control stand. Specifically, in the LCMS stand, the inter-canopy DP was 195.3–237.5 mm, accounting for 66.6–69.7% of the rainfall, whereas the under-canopy DP was only 18.7–65.0 mm, accounting for 6.4–18.4% of the rainfall during the corresponding period. Structural equation modeling indicated that, on a daily scale, soil moisture had the greatest effect on DP, followed by precipitation and soil saturated hydraulic conductivity. Other climate factors (global radiation, air temperature, vapor pressure deficit and wind speed) and vegetation structure parameters (leaf area index and rooting depth) affected ET, which had a significantly negative relationship with DP. These results help explain the effects of plantation strategy on the water budget, with important implications for artificial forest management, ecological restoration, and protection of local water resources in water-limited environments. Background: Drought stress severely impedes plant growth, and only a limited number of species exhibit long-term resistance to such conditions. Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica, a dominant tree species in arid and semi-arid regions of China, exhibits strong drought resistance and plays a crucial role in the local ecosystem. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying this resistance remain poorly understood. Results: Here, we conducted transcriptome sequence and physiological indicators analysis of needle samples during drought treatment and rehydration stages. De-novo assembly yielded approximately 114,152 unigenes with an N50 length of 1,363 bp. We identified 6,506 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), with the majority being concentrated in the heavy drought stage (4,529 DEGs). Functional annotation revealed enrichment of drought-related GO terms such as response to water (GO:0009415: enriched 108 genes) and response to water deprivation (GO:0009414: enriched 106 genes), as well as KEGG categories including MAPK signaling pathway (K04733: enriched 35 genes) and monoterpenoid biosynthesis (K21374: enriched 27 genes). Multiple transcription factor families and functional protein families were differentially expressed during drought treatment. Co-expression network analysis identified a potential drought regulatory network between cytochrome P450 genes (Unigene4122_c1_g1) and a core regulatory transcription factor Unigene9098_c3_g1 (PsNAC1) with highly significant expression differences. We validated PsNAC1 overexpression in Arabidopsis and demonstrated enhanced drought resistance. Conclusions: These findings provide insight into the molecular basis of drought resistance in P. sylvestris var. mongolica and lay the foundation for further exploration of its regulatory network. Purpose: Under the background of the regular implementation of the National Centralized Drug Procurement (NCDP) policy, this study aimed to assess the impacts of the NCDP policy on drug utilization of county-level medical institutions, and probe into the influencing factors of the changes in drug utilization. Method: A pre-post study was applied using inpatient data from a county-level medical institution in Nanjing. Drug utilization behavior of medical institutions of 88 most commonly used policy-related drugs (by generic name, including bid-winning and bid-non-winning brands) was analyzed, and the substitution of bid-winning brands for brand-name drugs after policy intervention was evaluated. Results: After policy intervention, 43.18% of policy-related drugs realized the substitution of bid-winning brands for bid-non-winning brands (6.82% of complete substitution, 36.36% of partial substitution). Meanwhile, 40.90% of policy-related drugs failed to realize brand substitution. Multiple factors affected brand substitution, including: (1) Policy effect: brand substitution was more obvious after the intervention of the first and third round of NCDP. (2) Drug market competition: the greater the price reduction of bid-non-winning brands, the more the drugs for the same indication, the more likely that medical institutions keep using the same brands as they did before policy intervention. (3) Previous drug utilization of medical institutions: brand substitution was more obvious in drugs with large number of prescriptions and weak preference for brand-name drugs. Conclusion: The NCDP policy promoted the substitution of bid-winning brands for bid-non-winning brands. However, the NCDP policy remained to be further implemented in county-level medical institutions. Background: The Asian yellow pond turtle (Mauremys mutica) is an important commercial freshwater aquaculture species in China. This species is a highly sexually dimorphic species, with males growing at a faster rate than females and exhibits temperature-dependent sex determination (TSD), in which the incubation temperature during embryonic development determines the sexual fate. However, the mechanisms of the sex determination or sex differentiation in the Asian yellow pond turtle are remain a mystery. Results: Temperature-specific gonadal transcriptomics of the Asian yellow pond turtle were performed during the thermosensitive period (stage 15) using RNA-seq technology to identify candidate genes that initiate gonadal differentiation. We uncovered candidates that were the first to respond to temperature. These candidates were sexually dimorphic in expression, reflecting differences in gonadal (Cirbp, Runx1) and germline differentiation (Vasa, Nanos1, Piwil2), gametogenesis (Hmgb3, Zar1, Ovoinhibitor-like, Kif4), steroid hormone biosynthesis (Hsd17b5, Hsd17b6), heat shock (Dnajb6, Hsp90b1, Hsp90aa1) and transient receptor potential channel genes (Trpm1, Trpm4, Trpm6, Trpv1). Conclusions: Our work will provide important genetic information to elucidate the mechanisms of sex control in the Asian yellow pond turtles, and will contribute important genetic resources for further studies of temperature-dependent sex determination in turtles. In this paper, a daily gridded observation data across China from 1961 to 2022 were used to calculate daily potential evapotranspiration (PET). The observed variables included daily temperature, sunshine hours, average wind speed, and average relative humidity. PET was determined using the Penman-Monteith method recommended by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The long-term trend of PET was investigated in six regions of China during different seasons. To further compressed the influence of various meteorological factors on the PET trend, the contribution of each meteorological element to the long-term trend of PET was analyzed. The results indicate the following: (1) PET reaches its peak during summer which values from 145 to 640 mm, while it is lowest during winter from 21 to 244 mm. (2) The spatial patterns of PET trend changes are relatively similar across the four seasons, characterized by a decrease in the eastern regions and an increase in the western regions. The reduction is most significant during the summer and the range of trend is from -2.04 to 1.48 mm/day, while the increase becomes more pronounced in the winter which trend is from -0.34 to 0.53 mm/day. (3) The contribution of factors varies significantly across different regions. In spring and autumn, RH and U have little difference in contribution from other factors. But tsun is varies different from regions, the contribution value is largest in the northwest and smallest in the northeast. However, during summer, tsun become the most significant contributor in the YZ and SE regions, while in winter, Tm emerges as the most significant contributor to the PET trend in all six subregions. Objective To explore the current situation and development trend of coupling coordination between medical and health resource allocation and service utilization in eastern, central, and western regions and provinces of China, and to provide suggestions for promoting the coordinated development of medical and health resource allocation and service utilization. Methods The related index data of medical and health resource allocation and service utilization from 2018 to 2022 were selected, and the comprehensive development level index and relative development degree were used to evaluate the medical and health resource allocation and service utilization. The coupled coordination degree model was used to analyze the coupling coordination relationship and development trend of the two systems. Results There were significant differences in the comprehensive development level of medical and health resource allocation among provinces, and the overall structure of relative development degree in 2021 was "9-11-11". From 2017 to 2021, the coupling coordination degree of medical and health resource allocation and service utilization decreased, showing a decreasing trend from east to west as a whole. The overall coordination between the allocation of medical and health resources and the utilization of services in China was poor. Only 12 provinces achieved coordinated development in 2021. Xizang was still in the dilemma of serious imbalance. Conclusion It is suggested to improve the accuracy of medical and health resources allocation, reduce the differences in the develop-ment level of resource allocation between provinces, and build a multi-party co-governance pattern. The improvement strategy of coordination level should be accurately formulated according to the relative development of medical and health resource allocation and service utilization in each province. Scheelite (CaWO4) is an economically important W mineral in skarns that form when magmatic fluids exsolved from a granitic intrusion react with carbonate wall rocks. In the Fujiashan W skarn deposit, scheelite formed during four stages of the hydrothermal skarn development. We present cathodoluminescence (CL) images and in situ trace element and Sr-O isotope data of scheelite from these four stages, i.e., scheelite in prograde and retrograde skarn, quartz-sulfide veins, and late calcite replacements. Scheelite from prograde skarn and quartz sulfide veins are homogeneous and show oscillatory zoning textures in CL images, whereas scheelite from retrograde skarn and late carbonate stages display dissolution-reprecipitation and patchy textures. The brightness of CL textures decreases with a higher substitution of Mo. Molybdenum-rich scheelite (up to 2.1 wt%) is characterized by relatively high contents of Nb and Ta (up to 156 and 0.9 ppm, respectively), positive Eu anomalies, high-δ18O values (5.2 to 5.9‰), and relatively low-87Sr/86Sr values (0.70661 to 0.70727), and has grown in a system with a continuous supply of magmatic fluid. Molybdenum-poor scheelite (0.2 wt%) has low contents of Nb and Ta, negative Eu anomalies, low-δ18O values (4.2 to 4.3‰), and relatively high-87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.70748 to 0.70804). This type of scheelite formed in a system with a restricted flow of magmatic fluid during scheelite precipitation became increasingly depleted in elements that substitute into scheelite. The continued reaction of the magmatic fluid with the wall rocks and the precipitation of minerals from the fluid resulted in a systematic change of the δ18O and 87Sr/86Sr ratios. Chemical and isotopic variations in scheelite may reflect the pulsed flow of a magmatic fluid and do not require the involvement of different fluids or contrasting redox conditions. Background: The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between subjective well-being, social class identity, and Self-rated health among older persons,. Focusing on the mediating role of health and the impact of epidemic infectious diseases on these relationships. Methods: Based on the 2018 and 2021 China General Social Survey (CGSS) databases, the data were screened, and processed. Using Stata17, we employed ordered probit regression to examine the relationships among variables and Bootstrap methods to assess mediation effects, and the CGSS data for 2018 and 2021 were compared and analyzed. Results: Our results revealed that factors such as social class identity, health status, and personal income significantly positively impact older persons' subjective well-being (P<0.01). Notably, there was a partial mediating effect of health status between the subjective well-being of the elderly and social class identity. And findings showed that when older adults were affected by epidemic diseases, their subjective well-being, social class identity, and Self-rated health remained significantly positively correlated. What is more noteworthy is that when affected by epidemic infectious diseases, older adults' subjective well-being, social class identity, and Self-rated health remained significantly positively correlated. The mediating role of self-rated health in older adults' subjective well-being and social class identity increased from 9.6% to 12.4%. Conclusions: In the face of epidemic infectious diseases, we need to pay more attention to the Self-rated health of the elderly, and the Chinese government should take effective measures to improve their health level, which will in turn improve the subjective well-being of the elderly and realize the goal of healthy aging. Global demand for underground gas storage (UGS) is steadily increasing, with the limestone-based UGS system situated in the Sichuan Basin of China gathering considerable interest in recent years. However, studies focusing on the fundamental mechanisms of the injection-production process in these systems are limited. Moreover, existing studies utilizing physical experimental methods frequently fall short in effectively visualizing micro-flow or incorporating real core samples from the reservoir. To address these gaps, we performed a coreflood experiment, integrating micro-Computed Tomography (CT) scanning to investigate mechanisms of fluid flow and storage capacity during the injection and production cycles in limestone reservoirs. Our approach involved utilizing core plugs with artificially engraved fracture-vuggy structures, which mimic the characteristics of the reservoir. Micro-CT scans were performed to visualize the microscopic changes in fractured-vuggy structures and the distribution of irreducible water during each cycle. This study reveals that increased cycles correspondingly affect gas storage capacity, particularly by expanding it in relative larger vuggy structures while reducing it in finer fissure network structures. The amount of irreducible water decreases after injection-production cycles, likely being expelled alongside the extracted dry gas. This plays a critical role in expanding the storage capacity in larger vuggy systems. Conversely, there is a decrease in storage capacity within fissure network systems, as the irreducible water is replaced by gas. This leads to a reduction in the opening force of the fine conduit. The dense matrix has a very limited effect on the flow mechanism and its influence on storage capacity. Overall, these findings offer practical insights for optimizing injection and production strategies in limestone UGS systems within the Sichuan Basin, contributing to a deeper understanding and efficient utilization of this vital infrastructure. The females were then divided into three types (stable, undulating and levelling off) according to the continuity. This study can provide the basis and materials for the creation of a good reproductive group and the study of the reproductive biology of turtles in M. mutica aquaculture. Background. With the technology of high-fidelity simulates developed, the clinical education route has changed. The nursing school pays attention on the use of high-fidelity simulations in nursing education. However, in China, only a few schools can afford the expensive teaching tools, including SimMom 3G and virtual reality (VR) devices, which also focus on "holistic nursing simulation." Objective. To explore the evaluation and development of a holistic nursing simulation session for nursing students based on an integrated nursing approach in obstetrics. Methods. This study was based in a rich Chinese nursing school under the medical university that value nursing education. This study is founded on 147 third-year nursing students in obstetrics classes. After the simulation teaching, the teaching effect of the questionnaire was investigated, and the total number of questionnaires was 124 students. Results. Students agreed that the holistic nursing simulation cultivated humanistic care literacy, clinical practice ability, and clinical thinking ability; enhanced teamwork ability; and reinforced professional knowledge. Background: Bulinus globosus, the main intermediate snail host of Schistosoma haematobium. The increased contacts between Africa and China could even lead to large-scale dissemination of B. globosus in China. Temperature is the key factor affecting fresh-water snail transmission. This study predicted potential risk of colonization of B. globosus in the mainland of China under climate change. Methods: We investigated minimum and maximum temperatures for B. globosus eggs, juveniles and adult snails kept under laboratory conditions to find the most suitable range by pinpointing the median effective temperatures (ET50). We also assessed the influence of temperature on spawning and estimated the accumulated temperature (AT). The average air temperatures between 1955 and 2019 in January and July, the coldest and hottest months in China, respectively, were collected from national meteorological monitoring stations and investigated in a geographic information system (GIS) using empirical Bayesian Kriging to evaluate the theoretical possibility for distribution of B. globosus in southern China based on temperature. Results: The effective minimum temperature (ET50min) for eggs, juveniles, adult snails and spawning were 8.5, 7.0, 7.0, 14.9 °C, respectively, with the corresponding maximum values (ET50max) of 36.6, 40.5, 40.2 and 38.1 °C. The AT was calculated at 712.1 ± 64.9 °C·d. In 1955, the potential B. globosus distribution would have had a northern boundary stretching from the coastal areas of Guangdong Province and Guangxi Autonomous Region to southern Yunnan Province. Since then, this line has gradually moved northward. Conclusions: Annual regeneration of B. globosus can be supported by the current climate conditions in the mainland of China, and a gradual expansion trend from south to north is shown in the study from 2015 to 2019. Many countries, including China, have implemented supporting policies to promote the commercialized application of green hydrogen and hydrogen fuel cells. In this study, a system dynamics (SD) model is proposed to study the evolution of hydrogen demand in China from the petroleum refining industry, the synthetic ammonia industry, and the vehicle market. In the model, the impact from the macro-environment, hydrogen fuel supply, and construction of hydrogen facilities is considered to combine in incentives for supporting policies. To further formulate the competitive relationship in the vehicle market, the Lotka–Volterra (LV) approach is adopted. The model is verified using published data from 2003 to 2017. The model is also used to forecast China's hydrogen demand up to the year of 2030 under three different scenarios. As a kind of zero-carbon and high-efficiency energy, hydrogen plays a vital role in environment protection and industry application. However, large-scale green hydrogen production is difficult to be promoted because of its high production cost. China is rich in hydropower resources, but the utilization rate is low. It is an ideal solution to combine a hydrogen energy system with the current installed hydropower system to promote the use of hydropower and the application of hydrogen energy. To study the capacity planning problem of a hydropower–hydrogen system, a bi-level programming model is first developed to maximize the system profit through incorporating long-term investment decision and operation strategy within a framework. Then, the developed model is solved based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm and Cplex. Finally, the model is verified through the empirical study of China's Hongru River basin over a five-year planning horizon. Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is the main manifestation of cardiovascular disease and the primary cause of adult hospitalization in China. There is an urgent demand for novel biomarkers for the diagnosis of ACS. Although plasma cysteine-rich protein 61 (Cyr61) has been previously reported to be accurate for ACS diagnosis, the accuracy of exosomal Cyr61 in ACS diagnosis remains unknown. In the present study, the aim was to assess the potential of applying exosomal Cyr61 in ACS diagnosis and to explore the role of Cyr61 in vascular remodeling in vitro. The abundance of Cyr61 in plasma-derived exosomes from patients with unstable angina pectoris (UAP), acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients in addition to those isolated from healthy individuals were detected using an ELISA kit. The association between exosomal Cyr61 levels and clinical characteristics of ACS patients was analyzed through χ2 test, Fisher's exact test and Student's t-test. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to determine the accuracy of using exosomal Cyr61 as a biomarker of ACS diagnosis. Furthermore, independent predictors of the existence of ACS were investigated through a multivariate analysis. Subsequently, the role of Cyr61 on vascular remodeling was evaluated in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) upon oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) treatment by performing Cyr61 knockdown, Cell Counting Kit-8, flow cytometry and Transwell assays. Exosomal Cyr61 expression was found to be significantly elevated in patients with ACS compared with that in healthy individuals. In addition, exosomal Cyr61 levels were associated with sex, family history of ACS and glucose levels. ROC curve analyzes revealed that exosomal Cyr61 expression could be used to differentiate patients with UAP, AMI and ACS from healthy individuals. Furthermore, exosomal Cyr61 levels were independently correlated with the existence of ACS. In vitro, Cyr61 expression was demonstrated to be significantly increased in VSMCs after ox-LDL exposure in a concentration- and time-dependent manner. Functionally, the elevated cell viability and migration of VSMCs induced by ox-LDL were partially but significantly inhibited by Cyr61 knockdown. By contrast, knocking down Cyr61 expression significantly elevated the apoptosis rate of VSMCs compared with that in the ox-LDL-treated group. In conclusion, data from the present study suggest that Cyr61 serve a regulatory role in vascular remodeling in vitro, where exosomal Cyr61 levels may represent a promising biomarker for ACS diagnosis. • The sustainability of 83 water national parks (WNPs) in China are assessed by a Pressure-State-Response-based framework. • The sustainability of WNPs in China was increased from 2011 to 2014. • WNPs in eastern regions are more sustainable than those in the central and western regions. • Reservoirs (RES) are confronted with high pressure for sustainable development. Water National Parks (WNPs) have been launched by the Ministry of Water Resources of China (MWR) to develop tourism functions for water conservancy projects since 2001. Although WNPs can provide socio-economic benefits, their tourism activities may overload environmental carrying capacity. This study developed a sustainability analysis framework to measure the impact of tourism holistically and explore the challenges inherent in the sustainable development of WNPs. The framework, based on the Pressure-State-Response model, consists of four components: characterisation of WNPs; pressure, state, and response assessment; calculation of a sustainability score; and sustainability analysis of WNPs. To demonstrate the usability of the framework, this study first collected data on 778 WNPs from the MWR in order to characterise WNPs in China, followed by selecting 83 WNPs as examples for a detailed sustainability assessment. The results show that the framework enables: (1) the sustainability analysis of WNPs based on temporal trends, spatial distribution, and types of WNP; and (2) sustainable development challenges to be identified such as the tendency to increase waste discharges and energy consumption. Introduction: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, pruritic, inflammatory skin disease with rising prevalence. Topical corticosteroids (TCS) are recommended as first-line therapy for patients with AD in China; however, corticophobia is a widespread concern, which can manifest as noncompliance: in a previous Chinese study, almost all parents whose children had AD were very concerned about the side effects of TCS and, as a result, nearly half did not use it in the event of recurrence. We propose a TCS-sparing treatment algorithm for the management of infants, children, adolescents, and adults with mild-to-moderate AD, to guide clinical practice in China. Methods: A panel of eight experts in AD from China and one expert from Germany formed to develop a practical algorithm for the management of mild-to-moderate AD, focusing on pimecrolimus. Results: Irrespective of body location, all patients with mild AD (including acute flares) and infants with moderate AD should apply the topical calcineurin inhibitor (TCI) pimecrolimus twice daily to the affected area until symptoms disappear. For children, adolescents, and adults with moderate AD, pimecrolimus should be applied twice daily to sensitive skin areas, and a TCI (either pimecrolimus or tacrolimus) should be applied twice daily to other body locations. Short-term administration of TCS, followed by TCI twice daily, is recommended for most patients with moderate AD experiencing acute flares, regardless of lesion site. Background: The local Dong people in Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province, China, with rich biocultural diversity, have developed the traditional rice-duckweed-fish-duck agroecosystem (RDFDA) to support biodiversity conservation and to meet food and cultural needs. However, there is still not much research on traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) in this area. In particular, there is a lack of traditional knowledge of edible plants used by the Dong people as flavoring to grill fish (Cyprinus carpio) collected from RDFDA, which is extremely valuable in their traditional culture. The study focused on documenting plant species used in grilling fish and analyzing the status of its TEK. Methods: Twenty-one sampling points of three Dong minority villages in Qiandongnan were selected for the research. The local TEK associated with plant resources for fish-grilling was recorded through free listing and semi-structured interviews. Fidelity level (FL) and ethnoecological importance value (EIV) indicators were designed to determine the socioeconomic influence of TEK. The non-metric multidimensional scaling (NMDS) method was used to evaluate the differentiation of edible plant species distribution in dissimilar accessibility types. Results: A total of 430 people were interviewed about grilled fish, of whom 75% were men and 85% were farmers. Thirty-four edible plants were documented for fish-grilling in three Dong villages. They belong to 16 plant families, such as Apiaceae, and Asteraceae. The life forms included herbaceous (76%), shrubs (18%) and trees (6%). Leaves are the most commonly used part of for grilling fish, followed by aerial parts, and whole plants. Among these edible plants, Allium hookeri, A. macrostemon and Houttuynia cordata with the highest fidelity level (100%) were cited as edible plants for grilling fish by all informants. The NMDS showed different accessibility types of collection sites, with different importance values. Paddy rice field edge (2.03) has the highest value, followed by forest-farming ecotone (1.74), streamsides (1.71) and woodland (0.48). Conclusion: The purpose of this study was to investigate the traditional knowledge of edible plant materials used by the Dong people for grilling fish. The results demonstrate the strong connection between local people, the bio-environment and agroecosystem services. Acacetin (5,7-dihydroxy-4′-methoxyflavone) is the major bioactive component of the traditional Chinese medicine "Snow lotus". As a natural flavonoid compound, it has been shown to have good pharmacological effects such as anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and anti-obesity. Among them, its prominent role in cardiovascular diseases (CVD) has received extensive attention from scholars in recent years. In this review, the protective effects of acacetin on a variety of cardiovascular diseases, as well as the existing problems and prospects, are discussed and summarized. High dietary protein input in aquaculture leads to suboptimal growth and increased production costs. Limited knowledge on dietary protein requirements of Procambarus clarkii in pond culture has hindered the scientific expansion of optimum feeding strategies. We evaluated the effects of reduced dietary protein levels (from 30% to 26%) on the growth performance (weight, length, GSI, HSI, SGRw, SGRL and muscle weight) and muscle composition (crude protein, lipid, ash and moisture) of juveniles in eight concrete ponds cultured with Hydrilla verticillata. No significant differences were observed in the growth performance between the two treatments. P. clarkii fed a diet containing 26% protein had significantly higher crude protein and ash contents, whereas no significant differences existed in the lipid contents. The δ13C and δ15N values of P. clarkii and its food resources were not significantly affected by dietary protein levels. However, the Bayesian mixing model identified the mean contribution of H. verticillata in P. clarkii growth increased from 37.34% to 41.93% when dietary protein levels decreased from 30% to 26%. Considering the significant contribution of natural foods, we encourage the reduction in dietary protein levels from 30% to 26% in ponds to further reduce the production costs. In our study, patients who had a second delivery were categorised into the following 4 groups. Pelvic floor ultrasound data were compared during the 6th week after the second delivery. The incidence of cystoceles was highest in group A and lowest in group D. In addition, groups A and B had a higher rate of rectoceles or perineum descent. Similarly, the areas of the levator hiatus were higher in Groups A and B during Valsalva manoeuvres. The area of the levator hiatus from the resting state to the Valsalva manoeuvre effect had the greatest change in Group A. A comparison of the PR thickening rates among the four groups did not reveal significant differences. All second delivery methods can cause varying degrees of pelvic organ prolapse and decreased pelvic floor function; however, vaginal delivery as the second delivery mode may have a more significant effect in Chinese women. What is already known on this subject? Different modes of delivery have significantly different effects on female pelvic floor function. Pregnancy beyond 35 weeks of gestation has an effect on female pelvic floor function, irrespective of the mode of delivery. What do the results of this study add? This study analysed the impact of different delivery modes on Chinese female pelvic floor function. Parous women who underwent different modes of second delivery all demonstrated different degrees of pelvic organ prolapse, as well as pelvic floor function decline. What are the implications of these findings for clinical practice and/or further research? Our study will provide basic research of Chinese female pelvic floor function after a second delivery, which will be of clinical significance around the world, as well as in China. China will keep promoting further delivery as the aging population is increasing. "Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality" is one of the important tasks of China's current and future economic construction and development, but the carbon emission reduction effect of High-speed rail (HSR) has not yet been fully studied. In this paper, based on the panel data of 274 cities in China from 2003 to 2016, we take the opening of HSR in the cities as a "Quasi-natural Experiment", and construct the Multi-period Difference-in-Difference Model to explore whether the opening of HSR can reduce carbon emissions of cities along the route, and use the mediating effect model and moderating effect model to further analyze its internal mechanisms. We find that:①The opening of HSR can significantly reduce the carbon emissions of cities along the route, and the opening of HSR in a city will reduce the carbon emissions of the city by about 2.4% on average, and this carbon emission reduction effect usually manifests significantly in the first year after the opening of HSR, and increases year by year thereafter.②The mechanism test shows that the traffic substitution effect, the optimization of the industrial structure and the promotion of economic agglomeration have partial mediating effect on the influence between the opening of HSR and urban carbon emissions. In addition, the increase in the intensity of government environmental regulations can strengthen the effect of the opening of HSR on reducing urban carbon emissions.③The regional heterogeneity research shows that the opening of HSR has a more significant impact on the carbon emissions of cities in the eastern coastal region and western region of China. Moreover, in the western region, the reduction effect of the opening of HSR on carbon emissions is only reflected in the key cities rather than ordinary prefecture-level cities. To address the global phenomenon of the salinisation of large land areas, a quantitative inversion model of the salinity of saline soils and soil visible–near-infrared (NIR) spectral data was developed by considering saline soils in Zhenlai County, Jilin Province, China as the research object. The original spectral data were first subjected to Savitzky–Golay (SG) smoothing, multiplicative scattering correction (MSC) pre-processing, and a combined transformation technique. The pre-processed spectral data were then analysed to construct the difference index (DI), ratio index (RI), and normalised difference index (NDI), and the Spearman rank correlation coefficient (r) between these three spectral indices and the salt content in the samples was calculated, while a combined spectral index (r > 0.8) was eventually selected as a sensitive spectral index. Finally, a quantitative inversion model for the salinity of saline soils was developed, and the model's accuracy was evaluated based on partial least squares regression (PLSR), the random forest (RF) algorithm, and the radial basis function (RBF) neural network algorithm. The results indicated that the inversion of soil salt content using the selected combination of spectral indices based on the RBF neural network algorithm was the most effective, with the prediction model yielding an R2 value of 0.950, a root mean square error (RMSE) of 1.014, and a relative percentage deviation (RPD) of 4.479, which suggested a good prediction effect. We seek to test whether innovation, measured by the number of accepted patents improves or worsens the environment in China. We hypothesize the existence of an inverse U-shaped curve, which differs by industry and provincial level of development. In that context, we test for a quadratic relationship between accepted patents and CO2 emissions per capita in 30 provinces and 32 economic sectors of China. We use a novel fixed effect panel data quantile (FEQR) regression estimator and differentiate between energy-intensive and non-energy intensive sectors, as well as between more and less-developed provinces of China. We find evidence for an inverse U-shaped relation between patent generation and CO2 emissions for both, more and less energy-intensive sectors, suggesting that at low levels of innovation new technologies tend to be "dirty", but at high levels of innovation new technologies tend to be "green". The same relationship holds for less-developed provinces as well. Decoding the formation mechanism of scheelite-quartz vein deposits is critical for advancing the understanding of quartz vein tungsten mineralization systems. In this study, we take the Early Paleozoic Yangjiashan scheelite-quartz vein deposit as an example, applying electron probe, He–Ar–H–O isotopes, fluid inclusions, and laser Raman spectroscopy analyses, to investigate the nature and origin of mineralizing fluids and the conditions of scheelite precipitation. Fluid inclusions in quartz and scheelite from both greisen and quartz vein stages include vapor-rich and dominant liquid-rich types. The measured homogenization temperatures and salinities of the two types of fluid inclusions within scheelite from both stages range from 215° to 336 °C (mean 250 °C) and 2.4 to 13.2 wt% NaCl equiv (mean 9.3 wt% NaCl equiv), respectively, for Stage 1, and from 195° to 290 °C (mean 231 °C) and 1.2 to 12.8 wt% NaCl equiv (mean 6.6 wt% NaCl equiv), respectively, for Stage 2. All these values are comparable to those of quartz from both stages, indicating an insignificant temperature gap between the stages. Raman spectroscopy confirms the presence of H 2 O with detectable CH 4 , CO 2 and N 2 within the fluid inclusions. The mineral assemblage of native bismuth, pyrrhotite, and marcasite and the presence of CH 4 in the fluid inclusions suggest reduced ore-forming fluids, and the calculated log f O 2 and log f S 2 values vary from approximately -45 to -40 and -15.0 to -7.0, respectively. The δD and δ18O H2O values in equilibrium with scheelite range from -84 to -56‰ and 3.2 to 5.1‰, respectively, for the two stages. The 3He/4He ratios in arsenopyrite for both stages are between 0.13 and 0.69 Ra (Ra, 3He/4He ratio of air = 1.39 × 10-6); 40Ar/36Ar and the percentages of 40Ar* (non-atmospheric) range from 556 to 1,327 and from 47 to 78%, respectively. All these isotope signatures support the involvement of magmatic fluid mixing with mantle-derived components and meteoric water in the formation of the Yangjiashan deposit. Considering the live SARS-CoV-2 was detected and isolated from the excrement and urine of infected patients, the potential public health risk of its waterborne transmission should be paid broad and close attention. The purpose of the current study is to investigate the associations between COVID-19 incidences and hydrological factors such as lake area, river length, precipitation and volume of water resources in 30 regions of China. All confirmed cases for each areas were divided into two clusters including first cases cluster driven by imported cases during the period of January 20th to January 29th, 2020 and second cases cluster driven by local cases during the period of January 30th to March 1st, 2020. Based on the results of descriptive analysis and nonlinear regression analysis, positive associations with COVID-19 confirmed numbers were observed for migration scale index (MSI), river length, precipitation and volume of water resources, but negative associations for population density. The correlation coefficient in the second stage cases cluster is apparently higher than that in the first stage cases cluster. Then, the negative binomial-generalized linear model (NB-GLM) was fitted to estimate area-specific effects of hydrological variables on relative risk (RR) with the incorporation of additional variables (e.g., MSI) and the effects of exposure-lag-response. The statistically significant associations between RR and river length, the volume of water resources, precipitation were obtained by meta-analysis as 1.24 (95% CI: 1.22, 1.27), 2.56 (95% CI: 2.50, 2.61) and 1.59 (95% CI: 1.56, 1.62), respectively. The possible water transmission routes of SARS-CoV-2 and the potential capacity of long-distance transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in water environment was also discussed. To date, the genomic characterization of foodborne bacteria carrying the mobile colistin resistance gene mcr-1 and transferability of mcr-1 -carrying plasmids between wild-type bacteria have not been studied in detail. We retrospectively investigated the prevalence of mcr-1 -positive Salmonella and Escherichia coli isolated from retail food products, food supply chain, and clinical samples across China in the last decade (2006–2017). The horizontal transfer of mcr-1 -bearing plasmids and their complete nucleotide sequence were characterized using conjugation, S1 -nuclease pulsed-field gel electrophoresis, and Southern hybridization, coupled with Illumina and Nanopore sequencing. Twelve (0.67%) mcr-1 -positive strains were identified from 1789 non-duplicated isolates, including 1283 Salmonella and 506 E. coli. Eleven (21.7‰) mcr-1 -positive E. coli strains were identified from the isolates collected during 2006–2017, which was significantly more prevalent than mcr-1 -positive Salmonella in this period (0.78‰, 1/1283; P < 0.05). All donors (nine mcr-1 -positive isolates, designated as D1–9) were multidrug resistant with diverse antimicrobial susceptibility profiles and were resistant to polymyxin B. mcr-1 -carrying plasmids in donors were successfully transferred to recipients at frequencies of 4.6 × 10−2 to 6.25 × 10−4 per recipient cell. A ~33 kb IncX4-type plasmid in D1, which carried mcr-1 with the insertion sequence IS 26 upstream, was effectively transferred to recipient R1. D2, D4, and their corresponding transconjugants harbored a ~60 kb IncI2-type plasmid with the insertion sequence IS Apl1 upstream of mcr-1. A ~60 kb conjugative mcr-1 -bearing plasmid derived from D5 also belonged to type IncI2 and contained the mcr-1 gene cassette IS Ecp1 - bla CTX-M-55 - mcr-1 -PAP2. In conclusion, mcr-1 was commonly detected in type IncI2, IncX4, and IncHI2 plasmids and mcr-1 encoding colistin resistance was successfully transferred between foodborne and clinical strains of E. coli and Salmonella isolated in China. mcr-1 gene cassettes including IS 26 - mcr-1 -PAP2, IS APl1 - mcr-1 -PAP2, and IS Ecp1 - bla CTX-M-55 - mcr-1 -PAP2 can be transferred horizontally between wild-type bacteria via conjugation. The new mcr-1 gene cassette discovered in this study provided evidence for co-transfer of mcr-1 and other antibiotic resistance genes. This finding suggests that antibiotics, other than colistin, should be used in combination for the treatment and prevention of diseases caused by foodborne pathogens. Submarine landslides that occur on continental margins can reshape the seafloor morphology and form steep slide scarps. Although the emplacement processes of submarine landslides have been well studied, the development of post-slide deposition has long been overlooked. Here, we use high-resolution multibeam bathymetric and three-dimensional seismic data from the northern South China Sea margin to decode how slide scarps affect bottom currents and generate associated bottom current-related features. Distinct features have been identified within the slide scars, such as sediments waves and drifts. In parallel, multiple longitudinal negative topographies are distinguished along the scarps, undercutting into underlying strata with width and depth up to 240 m and 20 m, respectively. These incisional structures are interpreted as moats, formed following the emplacement of landslides, and running along the foot of scarps that parallel to contours. The origin of these moats could thus represent an interaction between slide scars and contourite deposition. We suggested that escarpments act as morphological barriers, regionally affecting the velocity and direction of bottom currents, leading to an intensification of their velocities and their erosive ability. Furthermore, we propose a co-evolution model of submarine landslides and related moats, which elucidates and emphasizes the significance of scarps in moat initiation and evolution. Background: Mobile colistin resistance like gene (mcr-like gene) is a new type of polymyxin resistance gene that can be horizontally transferred in the Enterobacteriaceae. This has brought great challenges to the treatment of multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli and K. pneumoniae. Results: K. pneumoniae 16BU137 and E. coli 17MR471 were isolated from the bus and subway handrails in Guangzhou, China. K. pneumoniae 19PDR22 and KP20191015 were isolated from patients with urinary tract infection and severe pneumonia in Anhui, China. Sequence analysis indicated that the mcr-1.1 gene was present on the chromosome of E. coli 17MR471, and the gene was in the gene cassette containing pap2 and two copies of ISApl1.The mcr-1.1 was found in the putative IncX4 type plasmid p16BU137_mcr-1.1 of K. pneumoniae 16BU137, but ISApl1 was not found in its flanking sequence. Mcr-8 variants were found in the putative IncFIB/ IncFII plasmid pKP20191015_mcr-8 of K. pneumoniae KP20191015 and flanked by ISEcl1 and ISKpn26. Conclusion: This study provides timely information on Enterobacteriaceae bacteria carrying mcr-like genes, and provides a reference for studying the spread of mcr-1 in China and globally. In boreal regions, the frequency of forest fires is increasing. In this study, thermogravimetric analysis was used to analyze the pyrolysis kinetics of dead surface combustibles in different forest types within the Daxing'an Mountains, China. The results show that the combustible material load of forest types, the Larix forest (LG) is relatively high. Base on the E of kinetic parameters, the LG, and Quercus forest (QM) forest types had relatively high combustibility values and comprehensive combustibility values for 1-, 10-, and 100-h time lags. According to the obtained P values, the pyrolysis of dead surface fuels with 1-, 10-, and 100-h time lags is relatively difficult in the Larix / Betula mixed forest (L-B) and QM forest types. DNA polymerases are an essential class of enzymes or molecular motors that catalyze processive DNA syntheses during DNA replications. A critical issue for DNA polymerases is their molecular mechanism of processive DNA replication. We have proposed a model for chemomechanical coupling of DNA polymerases before, based on which the predicted results have been provided about the dependence of DNA replication velocity upon the external force on Klenow fragment of DNA polymerase I. Here, we performed single molecule measurements of the replication velocity of Klenow fragment under the external force by using magnetic tweezers. The single molecule data verified quantitatively the previous theoretical predictions, which is critical to the chemomechanical coupling mechanism of DNA polymerases. A prominent characteristic for the Klenow fragment is that the replication velocity is independent of the assisting force whereas the velocity increases largely with the increase of the resisting force, attains the maximum velocity at about 3.8 pN and then decreases with the further increase of the resisting force. We hope to provide basic information for an understanding of PEDV etiology and the formulation of effective control measures. Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) is a porcine enteric coronavirus, which is one of the main causative agents of porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED), with 100% morbidity and 80–100% mortality in neonatal piglets. Since 2010, large-scale PED caused by highly pathogenic variants of PEDV has occurred successively in China and other countries in the world, posing a great threat to the global pig industry. It has been demonstrated in many investigations that the classic attenuated vaccine strain, PEDV CV777, is insufficient to fully protect against the PEDV variants. Moreover, the maternally derived antibodies elicited by inactivated vaccines also cannot completely protect piglets from infection. In addition, feedback feeding poses a risk of periodic PEDV recurrence in pig farms, making it challenging to successfully limit the spread of PEDV in China. Simple Summary: In order to investigate the effects of low oxygen stress on the survival rate, antioxidant, anaerobic metabolic enzymes, and related genes of crayfish during aquaculture. This experiment conducted a 24-h low oxygen stress experiment on juvenile and subadult crayfish, and the results showed that the higher the degree of low oxygen stress, the higher the antioxidant and anaerobic metabolic enzyme activity and gene expression levels of juvenile crayfish and subadult crayfish. Compared with subadult crayfish, the antioxidant system of crayfish larvae is more sensitive to hypoxic environments. The red swamp crayfish Procambarus clarkii is the most reared shrimp in China, but it is often affected by hypoxia stress in the process of seedling culture and adult crayfish culture. The oxygen consumption rate and asphyxiation point of juvenile crayfish (1.17 ± 0.03 g) and subadult crayfish (11.68 ± 0.11 g) at different temperatures (20, 22, 24, 26, and 28 °C) were studied. The survival, glycolysis, and expression of antioxidant genes were compared under 24 h acute hypoxia stress (1, 2, and 3 mg/L) and normal dissolved oxygen (7.5 mg/L). The results showed that the oxygen consumption rate and asphyxiation point of juvenile and subadult crayfish increased with increasing temperatures (20–28 °C). At the same temperature, the oxygen consumption rate and asphyxiation point of juvenile crayfish were significantly higher than those of subadult crayfish (p < 0.05). Within 24 h, the three hypoxia stress environments did not lead to the death of crayfish, indicating that P. clarkii has a strong ability to adapt to hypoxia. Hypoxia stress significantly affected the activities of antioxidant and anaerobic metabolic enzymes and gene expression in juvenile and subadult crayfish. The activities of the superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and the content of lactic acid (LD) in the hepatopancreas of juvenile and subadult crayfish in the hypoxia stress groups increased significantly. The expression levels of SOD mRNA, CAT mRNA, Hsp70 mRNA, and crustin 4 mRNA in the hepatopancreas of juvenile and subadult crayfish in the hypoxia stress groups were significantly higher than those in the control group (p < 0.05), and the higher the degree of hypoxia stress, the higher the expression of each gene. The results showed that the antioxidant system of juvenile crayfish was more sensitive to hypoxia environments, and hypoxia stress resulted in increased stress levels in juvenile crayfish and subadult crayfish. Pyrite, the most common sulfide mineral, is a ubiquitous component of many hydrothermal gold deposits. Geochemical patterns within the refractory pyrite structure represent a valuable repository of information that can help constrain the sources of ore-forming materials, and the evolution of ore-forming processes over time. However, there are still a lot of debates on the mechanisms of physico-chemical processes in ore-forming fluid controlling trace element and sulfur isotope distributions in pyrite during growth. In our manuscript, we use cutting-edge complementary microanalytical methods to understand the origin and evolution of zoned gold-bearing pyrite in samples from the largest gold deposit in the Ailaoshan gold belt, SW China, Zhenyuan (exceeding 100t Au, average grade: 5.3 g/t). Pyrite, arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite, and stibnite are the most abundant sulfide minerals in most orebodies. Of these, pyrite is dominant and is also the most important host for gold. Two types of pyrite can be clearly distinguished: framboidal pyrite and hydrothermal pyrite. Gold is most commonly hosted by hydrothermal pyrite. Framboidal pyrite, mainly hosted by carbonaceous slate, hosts negligible Au, and features low δ34S values ranging from − 35.0 (± 0.9) to − 25.6 (± 1.0)‰. Hydrothermal pyrite is characterized by complex intra-grain zoned textures with alternating As-rich and As-poor bands readily recognizable on backscattered electron images. Scanning electron microscopy and trace-element analyses show that both visible and invisible gold occur only in the As-rich bands. Compared to the As-poor bands (72.1% of Au concentration data < 1.96 ppm, n = 43), the As-rich bands are characterized by far higher concentrations of Au (up to 1420 ppm), Cu, Ag, Sb, and Tl, but lower concentrations of Co and Ni. In-situ sulfur isotope analysis indicates that the δ34S values of As-rich zones range from − 7.3 (± 0.6) to 2.9 (± 0.6)‰ and are similar to those of As-poor zones (from − 6.9 (± 0.7) to 2.8 (± 0.6)‰), but distinct from the framboidal pyrite. Combined with published fluid inclusion data and a probable age for the magmatic event associated with mineralization, these data suggest that magmatic–hydrothermal fluids contributed most ore-forming materials and that periodic boiling led to formation of the rhythmic As-rich and As-poor bands in pyrite. Our data for pyrite constrain the evolution of ore-forming processes and provide new insights into the formation of zoned pyrite, with the conclusions having broad implications for analogous hydrothermal gold deposits worldwide. Most reported members of Microascaceae that have been reported originate from the terrestrial environment, where they act as saprobes or plant pathogens. However, our understanding of their species diversity and distribution in the marine environment remains vastly limited, with only 22 species in nine genera having been reported so far. A survey of the fungal diversity in intertidal areas of China's mainland has revealed the discovery of several Microascaceae strains from 14 marine algae and 15 sediment samples. Based on morphological characteristics and LSU-ITS-tef1-tub2 multilocus phylogeny using Bayesian inference and maximum likelihood methods, 48 strains were identified as 18 species belonging to six genera. Among these, six new species were discovered: Gamsia sedimenticola, Microascus algicola, M. gennadii, Scedosporium ellipsosporium, S. shenzhenensis, and S. sphaerospermum. Additionally, the worldwide distribution of the species within this family across various marine habitats was briefly reviewed and discussed. Background. The global impact of coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) has raised concerns about the management of psoriasis patients, especially among those using biologics. Methods. We conducted a survey-based research among Omicron-infected (confirmed, probable, and suspected ones) psoriasis patients in the department of dermatology, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, from January 9th to January 22nd, 2023. We collected demographic and clinical information (psoriasis- and COVID-19-related) and conducted statistics analysis. Results. Of the 240 patients enrolled, they were classified by the psoriatic treatment, as biologics (n = 138), nonbiological systematic treatment (n = 52), and topical treatment or without pharmacological treatment (n = 50). This study showed the characteristics of Omicron-related symptoms and cutaneous signs in patients. We observed that patients who received topical treatment or without pharmacological treatment had a lower risk of presenting with COVID-19 symptoms in the fully adjusted logistic model (OR = 0.40, 95% CI: 0.18–0.90, and P = 0.025). Moreover, in the model for skin manifestations, nonbiological systematic treatment (OR = 2.15, 95% CI: 1.08–4.27, and P = 0.029) and high BMI (OR = 1.10, 95% CI: 1.00–1.20, and P = 0.042) were correlative factors. Conclusions. Our data suggested that differential psoriatic treatment might be a correlative factor in developing symptomatic or asymptomatic Omicron infection and presenting cutaneous signs. Background: Previous in vitro and animal experiments have shown that copper plays an important role in cardiovascular health. Dietary copper is the main source of copper in the human body and the association between dietary copper and cardiovascular disease remains unclear. Our study aimed to investigate the associations of dietary copper intake with the risk of major cardiovascular disease incidence, cardiovascular disease mortality, and all-cause mortality in Chinese adults. Methods: Our study is based on Prospective Urban Rural Epidemiology China (PURE-China), a large prospective cohort study of 47 931 individuals aged 35–70 years from 12 provinces in China. Dietary intake was recorded using a validated semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire designed specifically for the Chinese population. The daily intake of copper was obtained by multiplying the daily food intake with the nutrient content provided in the Chinese Food Composition Table (2002). Cox frailty proportional hazards models were developed to evaluate the association between dietary copper intake with mortality, major cardiovascular disease events, and their composite. Results: A total of 45 101 participants (mean age: 51.1 ± 9.7 years old) with complete information were included in the current study. The mean dietary copper intake was 2.6 ± 1.1 mg/d. During the 482 833 person-years of follow-up, 2 644(5.9%) participants died, 4 012(8.9%) developed new cardiovascular diseases, and 5 608(12.4%) participants experienced the composite endpoint. Compared with those in the first and second quartile of dietary copper intake, individuals in the third and fourth quantile had higher risk of composite outcomes, all-cause death, cardiovascular disease death, major cardiovascular disease and stroke occurrences. The associations remained similar in the subgroup and sensitivity analyses. Conclusions: Our findings demonstrated that excessive dietary copper intake was associated with higher risks of death and cardiovascular diseases in Chinese adults. Butylphthalide, a prescription medicine recognized for its efficacy in treating ischemic strokes approved by the State Food and Drug Administration of China in 2005, is sourced from the traditional botanical remedy Ligusticum chuanxiong. While chemical synthesis offers a viable route, limitations in the production of isomeric variants with compromised bioactivity necessitate alternative strategies. Addressing this issue, biosynthesis offers a promising solution. However, the intricate in vivo pathway for butylphthalide biosynthesis remains elusive. In this study, we examined the distribution of butylphthalide across various tissues of L. chuanxiong and found a significant accumulation in the rhizome. By searching transcriptome data from different tissues of L. chuanxiong, we identified four rhizome-specific genes annotated as 2-oxoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase (2-OGDs) that emerged as promising candidates involved in butylphthalide biosynthesis. Among them, LcSAO1 demonstrates the ability to catalyze the desaturation of senkyunolide A at the C-4 and C-5 positions, yielding the production of butylphthalide. Experimental validation through transient expression assays in Nicotiana benthamiana corroborates this transformative enzymatic activity. Notably, phylogenetic analysis of LcSAO1 revealed that it belongs to the DOXB clade, which typically encompasses genes with hydroxylation activity, rather than desaturation. Further structure modelling and site-directed mutagenesis highlighted the critical roles of three amino acid residues, T98, S176, and T178, in substrate binding and enzyme activity. By unraveling the intricacies of the senkyunolide A desaturase, the penultimate step in the butylphthalide biosynthesis cascade, our findings illuminate novel avenues for advancing synthetic biology research in the realm of medicinal natural products. Asian warty treefrogs, genus Theloderma, are morphologically variable arboreal frogs endemic to Southeast Asia and Southern China. However, integrated systematic studies are lacking, and knowledge of the genus in terms of diversity, origin, and historical diversification remains limited. To address these knowledge gaps, we used three mitochondrial and five nuclear gene fragments to reconstruct the Theloderma phylogeny, estimate divergence times, and examine the biogeography of the genus. Phylogenetic and species delimitation analyses suggest that the genus Theloderma comprises three major clades corresponding to two subgenera and seven species groups, and mPTP identified at least 12 putative cryptic species, suggesting that species diversity has been underestimated. Biogeographic analyses indicated that most recent common ancestor of Theloderma originated in the Indochina Peninsula during the Middle Oligocene (ca. 27.77 Ma) and the splitting of Clade A to C occurred in the Late Oligocene (ca. 23.55–25.57 Ma). Current biogeographic patterns result from two distinct processes: in situ diversification in the Indochina Peninsula and dispersal in multiple areas, namely southward dispersal to the Malay Peninsula and Borneo, northeastward dispersal to Southern China, northward dispersal to the Himalayas, and dispersal from Southern China to the Indochina Peninsula. Ancestral character reconstruction suggests that the ancestor of Theloderma may have possessed a small body size, rough dorsal skin, and absence of vomerine teeth and hand webbing, and that these four characters have undergone multiple evolutions. Principal component analysis based on eight bioclimatic variables did not clearly distinguish the three major clades of Theloderma, suggesting that species in these clades may occupy similar climatic ecological niches. Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery is associated with poor outcomes. The objective of this study was to apply a new machine learning (ML) method to establish prediction models of AKI after CABG. Methods: A total of 2,780 patients from two medical centers in East China who underwent primary isolated CABG were enrolled. The dataset was randomly divided for model training (80%) and model testing (20%). Four ML models based on LightGBM, Support vector machine (SVM), Softmax and random forest (RF) algorithms respectively were established in Python. A total of 2,051 patients from two other medical centers were assigned to an external validation group to verify the performances of the ML prediction models. The models were evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristics curve (AUC), Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit statistic, Bland-Altman plots, and decision curve analysis. The outcome of the LightGBM model was interpreted using SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP). Results: The incidence of postoperative AKI in the modeling group was 13.4%. Similarly, the incidence of postoperative AKI of the two medical centers in the external validation group was 8.2% and 13.6% respectively. LightGBM performed the best in predicting, with an AUC of 0.8027 in internal validation group and 0.8798 and 0.7801 in the external validation group. The SHAP revealed the top 20 predictors of postoperative AKI ranked according to the importance, and the top three features on prediction were the serum creatinine in the first 24 h after operation, the last preoperative Scr level, and body surface area. Conclusion: This study provides a LightGBM predictive model that can make accurate predictions for AKI after CABG surgery. The LightGBM model shows good predictive ability in both internal and external validation. It can help cardiac surgeons identify high-risk patients who may experience AKI after CABG surgery. Background: Requirements of blood transfusions rise rapidly in China. Improving the efficiency of blood donation could help maintaining sufficient blood supplement. We conducted a pilot research to investigate the reliability and safety of collecting more units of red blood cell by apheresis. Methods: Thirty‐two healthy male volunteers were randomized into two groups: red blood cell apheresis (RA) (n = 16) and whole blood (WB) donation (n = 16). RA group donated individualized RBC volumes by apheresis according to the volunteers' basal total blood volumes and haematocrit levels, WB group donated 400 mL whole blood. All volunteers were scheduled seven visit times in 8 weeks' study period. The cardiovascular functions were assessed by laboratory examinations, echocardiography and cardiopulmonary functional tests. All results were compared between groups at the same visit time and compared between visit 1(before donation) and other visit times within the same group. Results: The average donated RBC volume in RA group and in WB group was 627.25 ± 109.74 mL and 175.28 ± 8.85 mL, respectively(p < 0.05); the RBC, haemoglobin and haematocrit levels changed significantly between times and between groups (p < 0.05). Cardiac biomarker levels such as NT‐proBNP, hs‐TnT and CK‐MB did not change significantly between times or between groups (p > 0.05). The echocardiographic and cardiopulmonary results did not change significantly between times or between groups during the whole study period(p > 0.05). Conclusions: We provided an efficient and secure method for RBC apheresis. The Zizania latifolia is usually infected by the obligate parasitic fungus Ustilago esculenta to form an edible fleshy stem which is an aquatic vegetable called Jiaobai in China. The infection by the teliospore (T) strain of U. esculenta induces Z. latifolia forming gray fleshy stems, while the mycelia-teliospore (MT) strain of U. esculenta induces white fleshy stems which are more suitable for edibility than gray fleshy stems. The mechanism of this phenomenon is still largely unknown. One of the possible causes is the diversity of endophytic microbial communities between these two fleshy stems. Therefore, we utilized fungal ITS1 and bacterial 16S rDNA amplicon sequencing to investigate the diversity of endophytic microbial communities in the two different fleshy stems of Z. latifolia. The results revealed that the α diversity and richness of endophytic fungi in white Z. latifolia were significantly greater than in gray Z. latifolia. The dominant fungal genus in both fleshy stems was U. esculenta, which accounted for over 90% of the endophytic fungi. The community composition of endophytic fungi in gray and white Z. latifolia was different except for U. esculenta, and a negative correlation was observed between U. esculenta and other endophytic fungi. In addition, the dominant bacterial genus in gray Z. latifolia was Alcaligenaceae which is also negatively correlated with other bacterium communities. Additionally, the co-occurrence network of white Z. latifolia was found to have a stronger scale, connectivity, and complexity compared to that of gray Z. latifolia. And the detected beneficial bacteria and pathogens in the stems of Z. latifolia potentially compete for resources. Furthermore, the function of endophytic bacteria is more abundant than endophytic fungi in Z. latifolia. This research investigated the correlation between the development of Z. latifolia fleshy stems and endophytic microbial communities. Our findings indicate that the composition of endophytic microbial communities is closely related to the type of Z. latifolia fleshy stems. This research also suggests the potential utilization of specific microbial communities to enhance the growth and development of Z. latifolia, thereby contributing to the breeding of Z. latifolia. The aim of this study is to evaluate the survival benefit of consolidative autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ASCT) in patients with peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCL). In this retrospective study, the ASCT group underwent consolidative ASCT after first-line therapy at 14 transplantation centers in China between January 2001 and December 2019. Data were collected over the same time frame for the non-ASCT group from the database of lymphoma patient records at Peking University Cancer Hospital & Institute. A total of 120 and 317 patients were enrolled in the ASCT and non-ASCT groups, respectively, and their median ages were 43 years and 51 years, respectively. In the ASCT group, 101 patients had achieved complete remission (CR) and 19 patients had achieved partial remission at the time of ASCT. The median follow-up time was 40.2 months and 68 months, and the 3-year overall survival (OS) rate was 80.6% and 48.9% (p < 0.001) for the ASCT and non-ASCT groups, respectively. The beneficial effect of ASCT for OS remained even after propensity score-matched (PSM) analysis (81.6% vs 68.3%, p = 0.001). Among the 203 patients who were aged ≤ 65 years and achieved CR, ASCT conferred a significant survival benefit (3-year progression-free survival [PFS]: 67.4% vs 47.0%, p = 0.004; 3-year OS: 84.0% vs 74.1%, p = 0.010), and this was also maintained after PSM analysis (3-year PFS: 66.6% vs 48.4%, p = 0.042; 3-year OS: 84.8% vs 70.5%, p = 0.011). Objective: Fangcang shelter hospital is a form of large temporary hospital developed in China to tackle public health events. Through the case study and analysis of managing a nursing unit in a huge Fangcang shelter hospital transformed from the National Exhibition and Convention Center during the Omicron wave in Shanghai, China between April 9, 2022 and May 24, 2022, this paper aimed to highlight critical implications of public health nurses in health emergencies. Design: A case study was conducted using data collected from a nursing unit with 570 beds. The five characteristics of management were organized as follows: human resource management, establishment and optimization of the core workflow, safety management of high‐risk patients, the grid cooperation mechanism with patient volunteers, as well as humanistic nursing. Results: Analysis of the data of the nursing unit indicated close team cooperation, efficient and orderly process scheduling, good outcomes of patients, and the indispensable role of volunteers. Conclusion: Practice indicated that nursing unit management in a large Fangcang shelter hospital is important to ensure medical order and efficiency. This practical experience can provide valuable reference and data to support for the nursing management of large‐scale public health events, such as infectious disease epidemics. When multiple extremes occur in rapid sequence, their impacts cascade to cause disproportionate damages. However, the prevalence of univariate definitions and inability to identify low‐likelihood events in short observations/simulations leave the knowledge on sequential extremes sparse. Leveraging two initial‐condition large ensembles, we project future changes in historically unprecedented sequential flood‐hot extremes in China. Results show that despite dozens of 1 in 50‐year floods and hot extremes in more than 2,000 years of historical simulations, their sequenced occurrence within a week has no historical precedent. This out‐of‐ordinary configuration is projected to be increasingly possible across China, with earlier emergence and larger frequency increases expected in Southwest and Southeast China. The direction, spatial extent, and magnitude of projected changes in unprecedented sequential extremes cannot be explained by internal variability alone, though it has the potential to modulate human‐caused changes in emergence timing and magnitude. Plain Language Summary: Policy‐makers and stakeholders have long been informed of that climate change has altered and continues to alter the profile of extremes, for example, frequency, magnitude, duration, and/or seasonality, creating unprecedented events with catastrophic consequences. But they have been seldom told that a changing climate is also introducing new types of extremes. A sudden switch from a flood to a hot extreme is a case in point, during which the flood‐caused blackout leaves the vulnerable inaccessible to cooling devices during the intolerable heat. We exploit thousands of years of climate model simulations to assess risks of such low‐likelihood potentially high‐impact sequential extremes. We show that historically unprecedented sequential extremes could originate from a sequencing of relatively moderate floods and hot extremes in the same week. A continually warming climate would make the current seemingly unlikely pairing of extremes increasingly possible across China. Superimposed on this anthropogenically forced tendency, random variability modes intrinsic to the climate system (the so‐called internal variability) have the potential of substantially accelerating the emergence and amplifying the magnitude for frequency increases of unprecedented sequential extremes. Climate risk assessments should therefore be expanded to emphasize cascading hazards, by factoring into both internal variability and human‐caused climate change. The contamination of heavy metals in vegetables and fruits is a serious threat to food safety and human health. The present study was designed to investigate the occurrence and dietary exposure of lead (Pb), arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), and mercury (Hg) in vegetables and fruits in Shandong Province, China. Results demonstrated that the mean level of total heavy metals was 30.25 µg/kg. The most frequently found heavy metal was Cd (69.2%) with a mean value of 11.54 µg/kg. The mean exposure values of Pb, As, Cd, and Hg in vegetables were 0.052, 0.045, 0.038, and 2.40 × 10–3 µg/kg bw/day, respectively. Moreover, the calculated hazard quotient (HQ) values of mean levels for these four heavy metals were all less than 1, indicating the health risk of heavy metal exposure caused by vegetable consumption was low. This study has displayed baseline information on heavy metal contamination in vegetables and fruits, which can provide useful data support for the formulation of relevant standards and government management. The present paper describes two new Chinese species of maricolan planarians through an integrated approach, including morphological, histological and molecular phylogenetic analyses. One new species forms the third species of the genus Pacifides and represents the first record of this genus from the Western Pacific. Further we document a third, new species of the genus Paucumara that is fully restricted to freshwater habitats, as it occurs on the shores of the Jialing River in Chongqing municipality far into the interior of China. Molecular phylogenetic analyses enabled us to determine, for the first time, the position of the genus Pacifides in the phylogenetic tree of the marine triclads. We also provide information on the feeding and reproduction of the new species of Pacifides. The paper concludes with two speculative scenarios on the evolutionary history that may have led to the present-day far inland occurrence and freshwater ecology of the new species of Paucumara; one scenario involves tectonic uplift-driven speciation and niche evolution, while the other invokes passive upstream dispersal via the Yangtze River.
