During weathering and pedogenesis of carbonate rock with poor-uranium (U) and thorium (Th), U and Th present the characteristics of strong leaching (especially U) and significant residual enrichment, the cause of which is still unclear. In this paper, a weathering profile developed by dolomite in karst area of Guizhou province in southwest China was selected, which showed zonation characteristics of bedrock (Y), powdery rock (Yf), and soil layer (T1 to T12) from the bottom to up. Through the determination of the occurrence speciation of U and Th in Y and weathering profile, combined with mineralogical, geochemical characteristics, and element mass balance calculation, the constraints of U and Th speciation on the geochemical behavior of U and Th during the weathering of carbonate rock were revealed. The results proved that U and Th in Y preferentially existed in acid insoluble phase, for example, the contents of U and Th in Y were 0.90 mg·kg−1 and 0.28 mg·kg−1, respectively, while those in acid insoluble matter were 2.34 mg·kg−1 and 2.57 mg·kg−1, respectively, but because the mass percentage of acid insoluble matter was extremely low (0.95%), the mass percentages of U and Th in the acid soluble phase in the whole rock were absolutely superior (96% of U and 86% Th). The U and Th in the acid soluble phase of Y were mainly adsorbed on the crystal surface of carbonate minerals or existed in the cement, and the U and Th in the carbonate lattice only accounted for a small proportion. From Y to Yf with the initial dissolution, U and Th released from the surface of carbonate minerals and cements were in carbonate-rich alkaline environment, and these portions of U and Th were leached out, resulting in strong loss of U and Th in the Yf (the loss rates are 83% of U and 65% of Th, respectively). From the Yf to the overlying soil layer T1, the carbonate components were completely dissolved, and the U and Th released from the carbonate lattice showed different behaviors, where U was completely leached and Th tended to stay in the weathered residue. Thus, in the soil layer T1 formed by Y or Yf , the residual U was the inheritance of the U in the acid insoluble phase of Y; For Th, it not only inherited the Th of acid insoluble phase of Y, but also superimposed the Th from carbonate lattice in Y. On the other hand, during the evolution process from Y to Yf and to soil layer T1, with the dissolution of carbonate, the acid insoluble phase also showed a significant tendency of chemical weathering. However, the U and Th in the Y acid insoluble phase were not leached with the decomposition of the acid insoluble phase but were redistributed among the residual phases. For the geochemical behaviors of U and Th in the evolution of soil profile (T1~T12), they were subjected to the occurrence speciation of U and Th in T1 and the change of U and Th occurrence speciation with the upward direction of soil profile. The U and Th released from the carrier minerals were mainly redistributed among the residual solid phases, which weakened the intensity of their further loss. This study deepens the understanding of the geochemical behavior of radionuclides in karst environment and provides reference for the treatment of radioactive pollution in karst areas. The Guizhou Province is located in karst mountainous area, so it is very important for the future layout and planning of the city to study the underground geological structure of the city based on seismic detection technology. In this paper, taking the underground active fault detection in the Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province, China as an example, a set of appropriate evaluation techniques for the accurate spatial location, structural characteristics and latest activities of the fault suit for mountainous area are proposed. Through pre-stack noise suppression, amplitude fidelity and consistency processing, and multiple iterative analysis of velocity residual statics, the resolution of the geological structure of the underground rock has been significantly improved. Based on the detailed interpretation of the shallow seismic data and the regional geological analysis, it is concluded that the main fault strike of the Weining – Shuicheng section of the Weining - Shuicheng fault is NW, mainly normal fault, the dip direction is mainly southwest, partly northeast and the dip angle is 60-70°. The strata of the two fault plates are strongly compressed and broken, and the limestone and dolomite are generally recrystallized, and calcite veins and masses can be seen. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Baisong deposit in Kaili is a representative Pb-Zn deposit in eastern Guizhou province, but its research is relatively weak. In this paper, the mineralogical study of this deposit was carried out in detail using an ore microscope and TIMA. The results show that the ore minerals of the Baisong Pb-Zn deposit are mainly sphalerite, galena, and smithsonite, while the gangue minerals are mainly dolomite and a little bitumen. The ores are characterized by brecciform, vein-like, disseminated, massive, variegated, honeycomb, and stellate structures, and mainly consists of hypidiomorphic to automorphic, allotriomorphic, and metasomatic texture. The wall rock alterations near the ore body are mainly dolomitization, followed by bituminization, a small amount of pyritization, and calcilization. The ore deposit is dominated by sulfide ore, but some oxidation has occurred near the surface of the ore bearing layers. The characteristics of the ore and mineral indicate that the deposit has experienced three epochs: l) Pre-enrichment of ore-forming materials occurred in the sedimentary-diagenetic epoch; 2) Extensive hydrothermal activity occurred in the ore-forming epoch and a large amount of lead-zinc sulfide and dolomite precipitated, and 3) Ore oxidation occurred in the near-surface environment in the supergene epoch. The mineralization temperature of this deposit is low, and the organic matter of oil and gas may be involved in the mineralization, and it belongs to the MVT deposit. This paper investigates the origin of the newly discovered Devonian carbonate-hosted Banbianjie Ge-Zn deposit in South China. This deposit is rich in Ge (>900 t @ 110 ppm Ge) and contains 7.7 Mt of sulfide ores at a mean grade of 5.1 wt% Zn. The mineralization is stratabound or veined and is structurally controlled by the E-W trending Huangsi fault. Sulfide ores are dominated by sphalerite and dolomite with subsidiary pyrite, marcasite, and calcite, and minor galena. The mineralization forms massive, veined, brecciated, and disseminated structures and the hydrothermal minerals present in the deposit have colloform, fibrous, granular, and acicular textures. The hydrothermal dolomite has positive Ce (δCe = 1.13–1.20) and negative Eu (δEu = 0.43–0.68) anomalies that are indicative of formation in a weakly acidic, reduced, and low-temperature environment. The δ13C PDB and δ18O SMOW values of the dolomite range from −0.97‰ to −0.24‰ and +13.89‰ to +21.84‰, respectively, indicating that the dissolution of carbonate wall rocks was involved in the formation of hydrothermal dolomite. Theoretical C-O isotopic calculations further suggest that the hydrothermal dolomite formed as a result of water/rock (W/R) interaction and CO 2 degassing. The δ34S values of the sulfides (−11.23‰ to −4.95‰) are markedly lower than those of the Devonian seawater sulfate and sulfate from evaporates in the Devonian strata (+21.9‰ to +25.9‰), suggesting that the reduced sulfur was derived from evaporates within the ore-hosting sedimentary rocks by bacterial sulfate reduction (BSR). The Banbianjie sulfides have an upper crustal Pb isotopic affinity, as demonstrated by their 206Pb/204Pb (18.335–18.343), 207Pb/204Pb (15.725–15.735), and 208Pb/204Pb (38.288–38.326) ratios, suggesting the metals were derived from metamorphosed basement rocks. These data suggest that: i) the Banbianjie deposit formed as a result of a combination of weakly acidic, reduced, and epigenetic low temperature mineralized fluids, trap structures, and favorable lithologies; ii) W/R interaction and CO 2 degassing caused the precipitation of hydrothermal dolomite, whereas mixing of metals and S2− was the main formation mechanism of the sulfides; and iii) the Banbianjie Ge-Zn deposit is a typical Mississippi Valley-type (MVT) deposit.
