Introduction. Aotearoa New Zealand has a range of community pharmacies; independent, corporate, hybrid, and mail-order, each with differing service delivery models. Corporate and hybrid pharmacies do not charge the NZ$5.00 co-payment on standard prescriptions; however, prescription co-payments were universally removed from 1 July 2023. Aim. This research aims to describe the consumer profiles of Aotearoa New Zealand's different types of community pharmacies prior to the removal of the prescription co-payment. Methods. A nationwide retrospective observational study linked 1-year of dispensing data (1 March 2022-28 February 2023) from the Pharmaceutical Collection to patient enrolment data using a National Health Index (NHI) number to identify the demographic details of people who use the different pharmacy types. People were assigned to a particular type of pharmacy if they collected at least 70% of their prescriptions from there; if they did not meet this threshold, they were defined as mixed users. Results. Independent pharmacies had an older customer base and fewer Asian users compared to other pharmacy types. Hybrid pharmacies served a greater proportion of Pacific peoples and those from areas of high deprivation. Māori made up relatively equal proportions of users across all pharmacy types. Areas without major cities had fewer corporate pharmacies and only four hybrid pharmacies were identified outside of Auckland. Discussion. There appears to be differences in the consumer profiles of the different pharmacy types. These results will serve as a comparison to how removing prescription co-payments shifts patients' behaviour. With the growing demand for sustainable practises, the food industry is increasingly adopting circular economy approaches. One example is recycling the symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY) used in kombucha fermentation to create value-added products. However, consumer acceptance of such novel products remains unclear. To address this, the present study examined consumer attitudes towards ice cream made with SCOBY as an ingredient and how this affected their intention to consume it. Drawing on the theory of planned behaviour (TPB) and additional constructs such as emotions and food neophobia, an online survey was conducted with New Zealand consumers (N = 170). Results showed that the TPB constructs significantly predicted the intention to consume SCOBY ice cream. Moreover, by adding emotions to the constructs, the model's explanatory power was enhanced. Attitudes, subjective norms, and emotions were the main predictors of intention, which in turn was found to be the main predictor of behaviour. Participants' beliefs about the safety and taste of SCOBY ice cream were significantly correlated with their intention and behaviour, as were the opinions of nutritionists/dietitians, friends, and family. The model accounted for 21.7% of the variance in behaviour and 57.4% of the variance in intention. Introduction. Queer-identifying (non-heterosexual) men report higher rates of tobacco and e-cigarette use than the general population. The advent of e-cigarettes as a commercial product in Aotearoa New Zealand has been accompanied by aggressive marketing and a sharp uptake in use, especially among young people. Recent evidence suggests that e-cigarettes are widely used for purposes other than smoking cessation. Aim. This study investigated how vaping is perceived and the role e-cigarettes play in the daily lives of young queer users. Methods. Using focus groups with a semi-structured interview proforma, we interviewed twelve young queer men between July and August 2021. Interviews were queer-led, conducted via Zoom, and lasted up to 2 h. Interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim for subsequent inductive and thematic analysis. Results. Of the twelve participants, 10 were daily users, and two described themselves as 'social vapers'. We found strong evidence for minority and intra-minority stress as a driver to uptake and continued use of e-cigarettes. E-cigarettes were also used to navigate new social and cultural spaces and as currency for integration into various social milieux, including both mainstream and gay community spaces. There was little support for queer-targeted cessation initiatives. Discussion. Previous literature has applied system-focused structures to understand the success of First Nations Peoples' nutrition and exercise group programmes. Existing system-focused measures have included biomedical outcomes, access and service utilization. By broadening the focus of programme success beyond the system, we can evaluate programmes from a First Nations Peoples' lifeworld perspective. Critical hermeneutics and yarning using a lens of Habermas' Theory of Communicative Action to the literature has the potential to transform understandings of "success" in First Nations Peoples' nutrition and exercise group programmes. In this literature interpretation, we explored the critical success factors from a lifeworld perspective, giving scope to go beyond a system perspective to include a cultural, social or personal perspective. Our yarning led us to understand that there is a communicative relationship between explicit system structures and implicit lifeworld concepts that are critical success factors for First Nations nutrition and exercise group programmes. We have developed a set of reflective questions to guide others in considering a lifeworld perspective. Our findings represent a shift away from success measured by the dominant power structure to respect the lifeworld culture, knowledges and values of First Nations Peoples towards shared understanding and mutual decision-making. This study examines the effects of a health star rating system on the attitudes of consumers and their purchase intentions towards beverage products sold in hospitality venues. Previous studies linking health ratings to the food and beverages of consumers mainly focus on fast-moving consumer goods and retail purchasing. However, purchasing patterns in hospitality and foodservice environments are distinct as consumers may be less concerned about health and more interested in the dining experience. Thus, this research focuses on: (1) whether the presence of health star ratings on beverage products influences the willingness of consumers to purchase in the context of the hospitality industry, and (2) identifying the demographic and psychographic factors influencing these behavioural intentions. Using Ordinary Least Squares regression to analyse data from an e-survey of 1021 consumers in Australia and New Zealand, the study found that health star ratings do have an impact on the willingness of consumers to purchase healthy beverages. Specifically, psychographic segmentation around 'health goals' is far more pertinent to understanding purchase behaviour in a hospitality setting than age, gender, income, or country. The findings present new insights into the importance of health star labelling on beverages and the purchase intentions of consumers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
