Aim: Studies of the effects of COVID‐19, especially post‐acute COVID‐19 syndrome, on psychological health in non‐severe cases are limited. We aimed to evaluate the prevalence and associated risk factors of psychological symptoms, and quality‐of‐life in three groups of outpatients, hospitalized and intensive care patients. Methods: A total 276 patients, previously confirmed with SARS‐CoV‐2 infection, attending the COVID‐19 follow‐up outpatient clinic from December 2020 to July 2021 were interviewed face‐to‐face. In this cross‐sectional, retrospective study, all participants were asked our self‐designed demographic and screening questions to assess their psychological symptoms and administered the WHQOOL‐BREF survey to evaluate quality of life. Results: In screening questions, major depressive disorder symptoms were detected at a rate of 20.3%, generalized anxiety disorder symptoms at a rate of 16.7%, panic attack symptoms at a rate of 10.9%, post‐traumatic stress disorder symptoms at a rate of 28.6% and obsessive‐compulsive disorder symptoms at a rate of 18.1%. The outpatient group with COVID‐19 infection had a higher risk of developing psychological symptoms and decreased quality of life. Conclusion: COVID‐19 infection was found to have a considerable psychological impact on those treated as outpatients despite the less severe course of their illness. Post‐intensive care syndrome affects physical, cognitive and psychological health.It is associated with symptoms such as generalized weakness, memory disturbances, cognitive function impairment, depression, anxiety and post‐traumatic stress disorder.Some physical and psychological symptoms persist for over 12 weeks in some patients and have been classified as 'Post‐acute COVID‐19 Condition or Syndrome' (PCS). What this paper adds? At the post‐acute‐COVID‐19 period, a considerable number of outpatients with COVID‐19 infection were at higher risk for psychological distress symptoms than those who had been treated in the hospital or intensive care unit.Depression, anxiety, panic disorder and PTSD symptoms were found to be higher in outpatients and those with these symptoms were also shown to have a lower quality of life.Our findings highlight the significant psychological impact of COVID‐19 on patients, even after their reported recovery from the acute manifestations of this disease. The implications of this paper: Ongoing psychological symptoms in the post‐COVID period are not associated with the severity of the disease in the acute phase.It is important that healthcare professionals are equally concerned not only with physical condition of post‐COVID‐19 patients but also with their psychological state and the patient's psychology‐related quality of life. Background: The Turkish and Syrian earthquake on February 6th 2023, was one of the deadliest earthquakes in the last decade. It affected approximately 26 million people and left at least 50.000 dead. In this paper, we analyzed the psychological impact and the relationship between mental health factors, earthquake-related experiences and stressors, and resources related to the earthquake, 4 months after the event. Methods: We conducted an analytical cross-sectional study, applying a survey to 320 adults (18–93 years old) in Adiyaman, Turkey. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms were assessed using the PC-PTSD, general psychiatric morbidity using the GHQ-12, together with questions focusing on suicidality, drug abuse, as well as experiences, related stressors and received support related to the earthquake. Results: We found a high prevalence of general mental health symptoms, and of PTSD. Fear of aftershocks and the loss of close family members were found to be risk factors for such symptoms. We didn't find significant differences in the GHQ or the PC-PTSD scores when considering ethnicity, religion or financial income. Conclusions: High levels of general mental health symptoms and PTSD symptoms were found 4 months after the earthquake and need to be addressed in all groups, independently from potential religious, social or ethnic backgrounds. Aims: It is extremely important to determine the relationship between COPD and self‐management (SM) in the disease process. However, the impact of symptom management (SpM) on this relationship is still unclear. The study aimed to examine the mediating role of SpM in the effect of the COPD stage on SM. Design: A predictive correlational study was reported following the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) guidelines. Methods: This study was conducted between 15 February 2023 and 15 June 15 2023, with 306 patients. Data were collected using the Symptom Management Scale for Self‐Efficacy and the Chronic Disease Self‐Management Scale. Descriptive statistics and Process Macro Model 4 in the SPSS program were used for data analysis. Results: Most of the patients were in the moderate stage of COPD; their SM scores were at low levels; SpM scores were at moderate levels. The model was significant, and the variables explained 65% of the model. The COPD stage was significantly positively correlated with SpM and negatively correlated with SM. There was a significant positive impact between SpM and SM. The positive and significant standardised indirect effect of SpM on SM evidenced a full mediating effect. Conclusions: Symptom management has a full mediating role in the effect of the COPD stage on SM. It was revealed that the level of SM can be increased by achieving SpM. Implications for the Profession and/or Patient Care: Symptoms are vital in COPD. Progression of COPD increases symptom severity. Being successful in SpM greatly contributes to the achievement of self‐management. Therefore, nurses should definitely consider symptom control in strengthening self‐management in the care of patients with COPD. The purpose of this study is to investigate the reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the 40-item Vanderbilt Fatigue Scale for Adults (TR-VFS-A-40). Method: This study included 317 adults with no hearing loss and 260 adults with hearing loss in the study group, totaling 577 adults aged 18--75 years. While 31 adults in the study group did not use any hearing technology, there were 96 hearing aid users and 123 cochlear implant (CI) users. A subset of 80 CI users completed the TR-VFS-A-40 a second time, 2 weeks later, to assess test--retest reliability. Intraclass correlation coefficients were used to assess test--retest reliability. Cronbach's alpha was used to evaluate internal consistency. To examine construct validity, a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed. For concurrent validity analysis, the Checklist Individual Strength (CIS) and TR-VFS-A-40 scores were analyzed using the Spearman correlation test. Results: Cronbach's alpha values were excellent for the total scale of .987 and the cognitive, emotional, physical, and social subscales (.953, .954, .955, and .946, respectively). Analyses of concurrent validity revealed strong and significant correlations between CIS and TR-VFS-A-40 scores, indicating a good concurrent validity. The CFA determined that the construct validity of the TR-VFSA- 40 was satisfactory. Conclusion: The TR-VFS-A-40 is a valid and reliable measure of LRF. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: The aim of this study is to determine whether psychological violence against women by their spouse predict anxiety levels of women of reproductive age during COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. Methodology: This study has a descriptive, cross-sectional, correlational design. The research was performed in a province located in the Aegean Region of Turkey in May-July 2020. The random sampling method was used. The study was conducted with 296 women who voluntarily agreed to participate in the study and met the inclusion criteria. Demographic Data Collection Form, State Anxiety Scale and Psychological Violence Against Women Scale were used as data collection tools. Results: There was a significant, positive moderate relationship between state anxiety and psychological violence in quarantine (r=.556, p<.05) (Table 2). As seen in the regression analysis, Psychological Violence against Women were significant predictors of state anxiety in the lockdown (p<0.05). Psychological Violence against Women during lockdown explained 31% of state anxiety (R² = .307, p<.05) Conclusion: It is important that women who experience psychological violence during the lockdown period are reached by nurse and necessary support is provided. Background: Covid-19, which affected countries all over the world have disrupted health services and cancer screenings worldwide. Aims: The study aimed to determine women's access to cervical cancer screening during the Covid-19 pandemic in Turkey. Methods: The study was planned as a descriptive cross-sectional. This study was completed by 443 sexually active women. The data were collected between 19 March and 27 April 2021 using the "Data Collection Form" and the "Attitudes Towards Prevention of Cervical Cancer Scale". Results: More than half of the women stated that Covid-19 and pandemic restrictions did not affect their pap-smear. However, the Attitudes Towards Prevention of Cervical Cancer Scale Cognitive and Affective mean scores of the women who stated that the pandemic restrictions did not affect her getting pap-smear were lower than the women who stated that it did. This situation shows that the attitudes of women who stated that pandemic restrictions do not affect their pap smears have low attitudes towards protection from cervical cancer. Conclusions: It has been found that the Covid-19 pandemic and the restrictions in accessing the health services related to the pandemic have an impact on the attitudes towards protection from cervical cancer, such as having a pap smear. Introduction: The aim of the study was to investigate associations between hepatosteatosis (HS) with computed tomography severity score (CT-SS) and survival of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients attending the hospital. Methods: Our study was a retrospective analysis of 435 reverse transcription polymerase-chain reaction-positive COVID-19 patients (aged = 18 years) who attended our hospital between September and December 2021. The patient's chest CT parenchymal findings and CT-SSs were reported. For quantitative analysis, HS was defined if hepatic-to-splenic attenuation ratio (CTL/S)<1. In very fatty livers, we defined the hyperdense appearance of vascular structures compared to liver parenchyma as "pseudocontrast sign (PCS)." We divided patients into three groups based on the hepatic attenuation comparison of vascular attenuation. Group 1: no HS, Group 2: HS without PCS, and Group 3: HS with PCS. Results: 210/435 (48.3%) patients were included in Group 1, 184/435 (42.3%) in Group 2, and 41/435 (9.4%) in Group 3. The Mean CTL/S of Group 3 was 0.56±0.14, which was significantly lower than the other two groups (p<0.001). There was a very significant (p<0.001) negative correlation between CT-SS and CTL/S. There was no significant difference between HS groups with intensive care unit (ICU) admission (p=0.27) and mortality (p=0.64). In multivariate Cox regression analysis, HS with PCS was an 11-fold (p<0.001) risk factor for shortening the time from hospital admission to death and 3-fold (p=0.035) for shortening the time from ICU admission to death. Discussion and Conclusion: In our study, HS with the PCS was significantly associated with CT-SS but not with overall mortality. Consequently, this sign may be an independent indicator of shorter survival times among patients who died. However, multicenter studies are needed in a large patient population. Background: Qualified individualised nursing care should be provided to all communities and ethnic groups with free of ethnocentrism. Aims: To evaluate nurses' individualised care behaviours and ethnocentric attitudes and predict the relationship between their individualised care behaviours and ethnocentric attitudes. Design: A descriptive and exploratory study. Methods: This study was conducted with 250 nurses working in a public and two private hospitals in a city, an area with many refugees. Data were collected using the Ethnocentrism Scale and Individualised Care Behaviours Scale. Structural equation model analysis to test hypothetical model and descriptive statistics were used. Results: Nurses working in the private hospitals had a higher individualised care decision control mean score. Those nurses who enjoyed spending time with people from different cultures had lower mean ethnocentrism scale scores, higher individualised care clinical status, personal life and decision control status subscales mean scores compared to other nurses. Mean scores of the individualised care personal life and decision control status subscales of the nurses who followed the literature on transcultural nursing was higher. A significant relationship between the ethnocentrism levels and individualised care behaviours was identified. Accordingly, the ethnocentric attitudes of the nurses negatively affected their individualised care behaviours, and the model established between the two concepts is statistically appropriate. Conclusions: Nurses who work in private hospitals, receive intercultural nursing education and enjoy spending time with different cultures have higher individualised care behaviours and lower ethnocentrism levels. Ethnocentric attitudes of the nurses negatively affected their individualised care behaviours. Care strategies should be developed that consider the factors that will maximize individualised care practices that minimize ethnocentric behaviours among nurses. Implications for the Profession: Increasing awareness on individualised care behaviours, ethnocentric attitudes and effected factors will contribute to improve of nursing care quality of nurses while giving care to individuals from different cultures. Background: Social media use has become an indispensable part of our lives as a result of technology advancement and is quite high among students. Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional design. Participants were 289 students from the Faculty of Health Sciences at Artvin Coruh University, Turkey. The Social Media Addiction Scale (SMAS) was used to obtain data. T-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and Bonferroni analysis were used to analyze the data. Results: The participants' mean SMAS score was 81.03 ± 34.79, which was moderate. A weak and positive correlation was found between social media addiction and daily social media use. Statistical differences were found between social media addiction and social class, maternal education level, place of residence, income level, and general health status. Further, statistically significant differences were found between access to social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Skype, and SMAS and subscales (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The nursing students in this study showed moderate levels of social media addiction. Factors such as daily social media use, year of study, maternal education level, place of residence, income level, and general health status are associated with the degree of social media addiction. The present study was designed to examine the direct and indirect contributions of parenting daily hassles and approaches to children's externalizing and internalizing behavior problems during the COVID-19 pandemic. The sample for this study was 338 preschool children (53.6% girls, Mage = 56.33 months, SD = 15.14) and their parents in Turkey. Parents reported their daily hassles, parenting approaches, and children's behavior problems. Findings from the structural equation model showed that higher levels of parenting daily hassles predicted higher levels of externalizing and internalizing behavior problems. In addition, we found an indirect effect of daily hassles on children's internalizing behaviors via positive parenting. Further, there was an indirect path from parenting daily hassles to children's externalizing behaviors through the negative parenting approach. Occupational balance is a crucial concept in occupational therapy, accepted as a key component of health and well-being. The Occupational Balance-Questionnaire (OB-Quest) is designed as a standardized instrument to assess occupational balance. This study investigated the validity and reliability of the OB-Quest Turkish, which consisted of translation, cross-cultural adaptation, and analysis psychometric properties phases. The factor structure of the OB-Quest indicated a good model fit. The criterion-related validity showed a positive correlation with Beck Depression Inventory and a negative correlation with the 12-item Short Form Survey. The OB-Quest-Turkish showed questionable internal consistency and an excellent correlation between test-retest. Background: Although nursing has made progress as a profession, there are still some negative myths to be dispelled. Purpose: This descriptive, cross‐sectional study was conducted to determine the nursing image perceived by the society during the Covid‐19 pandemic. Methods: The research population consisted of 663 people who were not in the nursing profession in Turkey. The data were collected with a sociodemographic data form that was prepared by the researchers and a questionnaire that contained questions on the image of nursing. The McNemar Test was used for statistical analysis. Results: Individuals have positive views towards the nursing profession compared to the prepandemic period. Nursing is accepted as a profession that is well known (82.8%), respected (69.8%) and difficult working conditions (88.2%) by individuals in the society (p <.05). However, nursing profession is still perceived as "doctors' assistant" (71.5%). Conclusion: Although nurses are more visible during the pandemic period and there are positive changes in public perception of the nursing profession, some unfortunate traditional perceptions persist. Aim: The study aimed to investigate the relationship between nursing students' exposure to colleague violence and stress levels in nursing education. Design: A correlational research design was chosen for the study. Methods: The study was implemented with 206 nursing students at a state university in northeast Turkey. Data were collected using the Scale of Exposure to Colleague Violence and the Nursing Education Stress Scale and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Spearman correlation test. Results: The nursing students' mean age was 21.59 (± 1.88) (min. = 20; max. = 40); 75.2% were female; 77.7% were from a nuclear family; and 77.2% stated that their income was equal to their expenses. The colleague violence score of the students was 63.29 (± 17.29) and the nursing education stress score was 53.67 (± 19.42). A positive and moderate relationship was found between the total colleague violence score and total nursing education stress score (p < 0.01). A positive and moderate relationship was also determined between exposure to verbal / psychological violence and nursing education stress (p < 0.01). Moreover, a positive and moderate relationship was observed between the effect of violence on physical and mental health and nursing education stress (p < 0.01). Conclusion: Results indicated that nursing students who were exposed to colleague violence during clinical practice experienced practical and academic stress.
